XML Forms editing/showing with 2 different edit/show forms

Hello,
does anybody know how to set xml forms to achieve the possibility to edit one created news with 2 different forms, based for example on the layout set used?
any hint would be appreciated.

Hi Marco,
If I understood your problem you need that a xml file to be read by another form.
There is a property called: resouce type (metadata, belong to system).
When you save your xml file (from form) this property is setted by the system. Using this value the system knows how to open this file.
If you need to pass this information (xml file)among differents forms, in your forms you can add a combo box in which you set up this property. When you change this value of this property (name of resource type the other form)you carry out that this xml file to be read for other form.
The truth is different forms, use differents resource type, therefore these forms can not,simultaneously,read the same xml file.
Also, if you create your own layout set, within collection renederer you can filter by resource type.

When you want to add a new episodes to your podcast you don't make a new feed: you add the episode to the existing feed, then subscribers will see it immediately and the iTunes Store will pick it up in 1-2 days. You don't need to resubmit the feed - indeed you can't.

XML Forms: Distinct Editing

Hi all!
I have a requirement to create a XML Forms App which works as a Q&A App. So, the end user creates the XML Form with a question, and the admin answers the question by editing the XML Form. The problem is that the same person that creates the question CANNOT enter the answer too, so using the same Edit form for both Admin and User is not feasible.
Is there a way to achieve this behaviour? Can i show one Edit form to the End User and another with extra fields to the Admin?
Any help is appreciated. Also, if you have a suggestion for this requirement other than XML Forms or the one i stated above, please share!

Hi,
I had the same problem. You can solve it working with resource type.
When you create a form, it has associated a resource type. The idea is working with two forms, one of them is for question and the other is for answer.
Once the user to ask a question and press save botton, you must replace resource type by the answer form.
You have to use two diferent layout set. Remember that each layout set uses collection renderer, in these collection you must filter by resource type.
Each one of theses layout set must be assigned in your km navigation iview.
In short:
You have two user A and Q.
Q User, to ask a question to do that this user has a km navigation iview with a specific layout set. This layout allow him to create a question but once the form is saved as its resource type is changed disappeard.
A user, answer questions, to do that use other km navigation iview with other layout set. As Q user change resource type, A user sees a new question.

There is no "detailed documentation" (there is in the meantime, my slides from TechEd 2006; but these are not public, I think). Anyhow, you can find a short description more than one time here in the forum, I'll repeat it once again:
Implement an AbstractPortalComponent, implement an empty doContent method, overwrite doOnNodeReady, and at the end of this method call <i>request.redirect(...)</i> with the navigation component (com.sap.km.cm.navigation, you can get this from the KM URLGenerator) as the new target, passing the component parameters as URL parameter (so, among others, "rndLayoutSet=YourLayoutSet1" or the second, dependent on the role the user has got, which is the logic to be implemented in your method). The isloation level of the iView built out of this component must be URL isolated (otherwise the redirect does not work).

Creating a iview for XML Form builder Edit Form

I have created an XML Form builder application which has Edit from,Renderlist and Show form. I able to create a datafile in by going to content manager. My requirement is to create an iview for Edit form so that i can assignt he ivew to end user to fill this form. I dont want to give content admin to end user.

Now I'm confused,what do you mean with create new data? Are users editing existing documents
(as if they go to a document example.xml > edit) or they are creating new documents (as if they go
on folder > new > forms)?
The problem is, in both cases a user would need read/write permissions.
The normal flow content (data) is created in KM is as follows:
1. user is assigned to a role
2. role contains KM Navigation iView
3. KM Navigation iView executes com.sap.km.cm.navigation component
4. user chooses New > Form UI command (edit_xml_forms)
5. edit_xml_forms UI command executes its code (com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.uicommand.cm.UIXMLFormsCreateCommand) and open xml edit for the user
6. user fill the form and click Save, form is created into folder
For what I understood so far, your requirement basically asks you to go directly to step 5, it is
possible to pass a URL that goes directly to step 5, the UI command button, but if you do that
you won't have a context, so chances that it will work are slim, since a context is required to
fill the parameters asked by the app (like folder, user, permissions, etc). Even though, in some cases you can
still pass the parameters via post in the URL but you must know which service/parameters the
app asks for it, also a URL is static...
That was the create scenario, I think it's more cons than pros, users would still be
able to bypass the URL iView created for that, I'd suggest evaluating again if it's really
a problem having users access cm to manage data

Unable to edit the content of an XML form

Hello Experts,
I am facing a weird issue after updating my XML form.
Earlier scenario :
We were displaying only the Title of the news along with the content.
New scenario :
We had to display image also along with the title and content of the news.
Changes i did :
I have updated my XML form with adding an Image UI in the XML form.
Issue :
After adding the image UI and generating the project in the content part it is giving a message as in the image below.
Due to this message as "Loading content please wait" i am not able to save the content of the news due to which i am getting dump on the screen.
Please help.
Its an urgent issue.

Is the portal 7.3? can you let us know the version? Trigger 5-6 thread dumps with 30 secs interval each for your server when you reproduce the issue.

XML FORM - How to save read-only controls with a default value

Hello everybody,
I have a 3 xml forms, each one to create one type of news. I need to use 3 because each of this forms has their own controls. But the control which indicates the type of news (asociated with a KM Predefined Property) must be common in the 3 forms, in order to use it on searches.
The question is, how can I include in this forms a control:
- Visible for the user
- With a default value defined in the control properties (each form has a different value, corresponding with the type of news)
- Read-only mode
- The value showed in the control must be saved in the associated KM Predefined Property when the user clicks the Save button.
Anyone knows how to do this?
What control can I use?
I was thinking of trying with text boxes, but I don't find the way to make them unwritable (Read only mode).
It is posible using labels?

The first thing I do when I open the Edit.xsl file is do a 'find' for the name of the text field that I want to be read-only (in my test case, it's 'location'). Repeat the find until you see something like:

I put the <xsl:attribute name="readonly"> in both places (when test, and when not test). I'm not entirely sure if that's necessary, but that worked for me.

XML Forms Buidler: Rename Show and RenderListItem in Preview

Hi everybody,
how can I rename or translate the links in the preview page of XML Forms Builder. When a user clicks on "preview" in the edit form, a new windows is shown with two links:
- Show
- RenderListItem
I want to change the text for those links.
Any ideas?

I have users with different languages set. All items are displayed in the users' language depending on the translation files of the xml forms project.
But when I click on preview in the edit form, a new window opens with two links "Show" and "RenderListItem". They are in english (the text is the ID of the form) for all users. I want to change those two link texts. If those texts can be made translatable thats fine, but chaging them to a fixed value would be enough.
Any ideas? Thanks for your help.!

How to use adifferent Show form to display a document created by XML forms

Hi,
I have created some XML documents using an XML form.
The XML form contains two Show forms, Show & Show2. The default is Show. When I view the XML document via a KM Docs iView the default Show form is used to display the resource.
If I wish to display the XML document using a KM Docs iView, but using the Show2 (non-default) form how is this done?
I have created Layout Sets for each of the different ways to display the XML forms, but there is no option to choose Layout Set in the KM Docs iView config.

Problem with NewsLayout/XML Forms

Hello,
I have a created News(custom) item, through XML forms. When I preview the Edit,Show and Renderer form, they all work fine.
The problem, I am facing is:
When I create a news item under documents folder: New->Forms->News, it is saved. when i click on this xml file, I can see the news.
But in the iView, when i set the Layout as "NewsBroswer" , these news are displayed as links but not as News item( as we see in Renderer list in XML froms ). All the other forms (FAQ, SAP Demo News are seen as news item )
Can someone tell me why, this problem exists ?

I have already done this. I am using the same layout set( with all the things u have mentioned ) to my other news, it works.
The news where I am creating now is directly under root in another folder which is at the same level as documents folder. Should I do some XML resource rendering settings for this. The XML form is available for this folder.
I have no idea pls help ! Its consuming a lot of my time to correct this.

How to reference a file with the XML Forms Builder?

I've created a form at the XML Form builder (I am using NW 04). This enables the users to create new topic.
I've created at at the "Edit" form an option to upload a file along with the new topic. The file is being saved in a subfolder of the topics main folder.
My question is how to create a link to the specific file that has been uploaded with it's specific topic at the "Show" Form? Note that the subfolder contains files of many topics, I want to link to this specific file uploaded with it's relevant topic when created. How do I do that?

What I expect that you have done is to add a browse functionality which browses within KM with the possibility to upload an image into KM?! As done within SAP Demo News?!
If that's the way, just compare the SAP Demo News: Create /DataSchema/News/image and map it to the browser, whereas in the show form part you'll map it to an image.
If I didn't understand you right and the issue is still open, please report...

Filter Predefined Properies, Feedback Search, XML Forms Show form issues

I have created XML forms with XML builder and I have some questions.
1. When filtering by predefined properties I want to filter by two properties, which are the same. For example, if there is a publication with two authors and author is the predefined property, in the first field I write the name of the first author, in the second field I write the name of the second author, the result is all publications, which are by both authors and all publication, which are either by the one, or by the other.
I don't have this problem when I filter by two different predefined properties. For example the author and the year. Than the result is all publication, which are by the author AND published in the requested year.
How can I set this option to be able to filter by two same predefined properties and the relation between both properties to be AND?(only publications by both author)
2. In the Show form I have created link to the feedback, using XML Forms BUilder, but I need to write first the feedback to be able to see already existing feedbacks,
if there are any. In the ResourceRendering Form I have created link to the feedback by LayoutSet, where I can see first, if there are already existed feedbacks.
If there is any possibility to set a LayoutSet for the Show Form or any other way in the Show form to display first the existing feedbacks and than to be able to write a new.
And something else reffering to the Show form, is it possible to rate the item from Show form or at least to have link to the rating, not a link to the Details.
I have tried to create a link to the /Properties/col:rating, but it doesn't work. The link dispays the value, if it has been already rated.
3. Is it possible to search for any information in the feedbacks(to make the feedback searchable)?

So far it's not possible to connect two identic proerties by an 'AND' within the standard.
You can preset a search filter via the relevant Search Option Set.

Issue with XML form builder

Hi All,
1 ) My XML form builder is hanging up very very frequently (other than this, my portal is very fast).
when I save the project its hangs up at "50% saving internal model". then I have to close the xml form builder and reopen it and save it again (when i do it repeatedly, some time it saves).
when I click on "open Project" many times its not popup the project list, I have to close the xml form builder, logout from my portal and then login back.
Its horrible to work on this, keeps on hanging every time. Any idea why its behaving like this? as I said, my portal is very fast except XML form builder.
My Java version is 1.4.2_16... XML form builder verison is 6.xx
2) when clicked on "preview" button, can we open a pcd iview??? my requirement is, when user clicks on preview button I need to open my application built in PDK java (created iview out of it, which shows xml form in a better way)?
3) Can I show "Edit" form first other than "Renderer" form in News application? Presently it shows renderer form-> user has to click edit link -> then it will open Edit form. I want "Edit" form to be visible to the user in the first step itslef. is it possible?

Hi.
I suppose changing of the JDK, because 1.4.2_16 is not recommended version (see SAP Note 716604). Refer to note 718901 - How to Change the JDK of the J2EE Engine.
Also check what version of client JRE in use. (see Note 1341069 - XML Forms Builder not supported if client JRE is 1.6).

XML Form builder - Issue with Reset button

Hi Experts,
Using xml form builder I have created a project.In the show form I have added the "Reset" button.
This reset functionality is working fine during creation of new xml file item.
But when I am editing the existing xml file , onclick of the "Reset" button it is not clearing all the data fields instead it is clearing the newly added data.
Please sugguest me how to achieve this functionality of clearing the fields during editing existing file item.
