client is windows2k.
while defining a concurrent program ,
i want to specify the output type as "XML"
instead of the available options of
1 Binary
2 HTML
3 PDF
4 PostScript
5 Text
any suggestions ?

How to start XML reports in Oracle Apps

Hi All,
As im new to develop XML reports in Oracle Apps. And Im used to develop oracle reports. But i have a new requirement came and i need to develop new XML reports.
I am using windows please let me know any software to be installed and how to register the XML reports.
1) how to create .rtf
2) How to make columns mapping in rtf file.
If any knows please let me know as it is bit urget for me.

Assuming that you intend to create a layout template to use against an existing report, then you should start by changing the output type in the concurrent program definition to XML. You should then run the report and save the XML file output. This will form the start point for yout layout template.
In order to create the layout template, you need to download the BI Publisher desktop. This is the add-in for Word which is used to build the template.
When you have these tasks completed, you can open up Word and you will find you have some new menu options. Load the XML data you created in the first step, and you can build your template. You will also be able to preview the output from within Word.
When you have completed the template, you need to go into XML Publisher responsibility. You should create a data definition which has a code the same as the concurrent program short name. This is the link between the template and the concurrent program.
You then need to define a template for this data definition which will have the layout template uploaded.
Having done this, switch to systeem administration responsibility, select the concurrent program menu entry and query back the program you are workin on. Click on the 'update' icon. You then need to click on the 'Onsite setting' tab. This allows you to attach the template to the program.

All,
Here is the error I'm getting when AR invoice is printed in PD fformat. I dont see this issue for all invoices, I ahve this issue when invoice has 9 lines.
oracle.apps.xdo.template.fo.area.NoAvailableAreaException: object = 'oracle.apps.xdo.template.fo.area.BlockArea@186f3b3', aInfo: (x, y, w, h) = (0, 0, -18050, 353403)
Any idea how to fix this error, or where can i look into template to fix.

XML output from Oracle 8.1.6

I need to generate XML from oracle 8.1.6 and place the output into a file on NT directory. The RDBMS is running on SUN 2.7 (Solaris7).
What is the best approach to accomplish this?
I am new to XML, any sample code is greatly appreciated.

If you want to write the code yourself, you can download the XML SQL Utility and write Java code (or use its PL/SQL api) to accomplish this.
You can also download the XSQL Pages technology and do it declaratively.
If you want to create XML for a query
like:
SELECT * FROM EMP
then with XSQL Pages you create a template
page like this:

<xsql:query connection="myDB" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql">
SELECT * FROM EMP
</xsql:query>
And then you can use the "xsql" command-line
utility to process the page and write the
output into a file like this:
$ xsql MyQuery.xsql MyOutputFile.xml

I am getting an XML parse exception while trying to parse a file in my application in Oracle 10g Appserver.The same file is working perfectly in oracle.Can any one please help me in resolving this or anyone please tell me how can i use other xml parsers instead of oracle's one.I shall be really grateful if someone could help me in resolving this.

Oracle Apps XML server path

Hi everyone,
can someone tell me if for every report executed with Oracle Apps is there a folder in which its XML file is stored?
I managed to find the reports' output following this path: /oracle/as/PRE/inst/apps/HOST_NAME/logs/appl/conc/out.
Is there a similar folder also for the XML files?

After a few hours i solved the issue(s):
First of all there are empty/incorrectly formatted xml files in oracle\apps\ben\selfservice\cwb\worksheet\server.
They are:

so remove them from the filesystem and also from the server.xml file.
Furthermore the CompSummaryVO is not mentioned in the server.xml file, so if you want to extend that one, add a reference to it in the
server.xml file.
The VO's reference EO's in directory oracle\apps\ben\selfservice\cwb\schema\server,
however there is no server.xml file in this directory.
So either request it from Oracle by logging an SR or create it yourself.
After i fixed those issues i could import oracle\apps\ben\selfservice\cwb\schema\server\server.xml and
oracle\apps\ben\selfservice\cwb\worksheet\server\server.xml succesfully.

XML Report in Arabic login in Oracle apps

Hi,
I have created a XML report in Oracle apps, the data is coming properly from english login.
But when we login from Arabic Login then report does not show any data.
The data does not come even after hard coding the values.
Any clue for the issue..
Below is the main query in the report.

looks like that for Arabic language you haven't some data
in your main query you have PER_TIME_PERIODS_V which based on HR_LOOKUPS which depend on session language

...so check data in HR_LOOKUPS for Arabic language
you can check it by query without PER_TIME_PERIODS_V

Hi Aasma,
The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.

Converting .rdf data model to xml output thru conc program

Dear Members :
I am trying to convert .rdf data model(Reports 10g) into XML tag, by creating Concurrent Program Report Definition, setting output type as XML.But when running the CP, getting following error:
XML Parsing Error: XML declaration not well-formed
Location: http://oel4.localdomain:8000/OA_CGI/FNDWRR.exe?temp_id=2393533895
Line Number 1, Column 31:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
All I want is save output in Oracle Apps (11i) as .XML to be used later for XML publisher, in MS Word. The above procedure should have worked fine, as seen, in other posts.
Any clue, please ?

It's solved by changing xml prolog value to <?xml version="1.0"?>. This is closed issue - thanks.

OK, figured it out... when you double click on the field to add the ../, you actually need to click on Add Help Text and add the ../ here

I'm trying to generate XML output using oracle report (rdf). I've creared a report and registered in application with output as xml.
When i ran the report its giving me the below error.
Can some one please help in solving this issue.
Current NLS_LANG and NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS Environment Variables are :

How do I get the Oracle .EDF report parameters in .XML output?
When I display in the header of the .rdf, I do not see in .xml output, hence cannot use it in .rtf.
