XML Parsing Error (that works in Eclipse)

Question

I have been working on an application using JIDE this afternoon.
I have been using some of the examples that are provided.
To start with I did the usual copy and paste action on one of their examples into JDeveloper so I could run it and walkthrough the code.
Unfortunately it did not run properly and it was throwing the error below (in italics) at this line of code;
InputStream layoutFileInputStream = (getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(nameOfLayoutFile));
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: InputStream cannot be null
     at javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder.parse(DocumentBuilder.java:94)
     at com.jidesoft.swing.AbstractLayoutPersistence.loadInitialLayout(Unknown Source)
     at project.dev.workbench.view.frame.WorkbenchFrame.loadInitialLayout(WorkbenchFrame.java:77)
     at project.dev.workbench.view.frame.WorkbenchFrame.buildWorkbenchFrame(WorkbenchFrame.java:65)
     at project.dev.workbench.view.DevWorkbench.main(DevWorkbench.java:34)
I am presuming that it is a conflict with something in JDeveloper, a colleague of mine tried to run the same code in Eclipse and it worked fine.
I managed to get it to work in JDeveloper by removing the following piece of code
.getClassLoader()
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

InputStream layoutFileInputStream = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(nameOfLayoutFile);
