XML parsing failed - Works in Oracle Developer fails in SQLplus

Hello,
I am trying to figure out what could possibly be causing my XML parsing to fail from sqlplus. Basically the exact same sql script fails with the following error when run from sqlplus but works fine in Oracle Developer.
Now I have read a number of posts talking about the NLS_Lang and characterset issues. But these are all running on the same machine.
Error Message Received:
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed

LPX-00222: error received from SAX callback function

System Information:
Oracle XE on windows XP. Everything is running on the same machine, sqlplus, Oracle Developer and the database are all on the same machine.
If you need any more information please let me know, and how to get the information you want. I am not a DBA so I don't know how to do a lot of things with oracle, but I do know that this SQL should be working.

NLS...read up on them
on the same machine, yeah and...?
(1) c:\> set NLS_LANG=.....
(2) c:\> sqlplus
-- sqlplus has the active nls settings set from (1)
3) you now connect to a database
- this database has an NLS character settings that where set during using a spfile or pfile
- or, as in the case of the characterset, was defined and set once, during the creation of the database.
So...
Your NLS settings in (1) can be different from the ones that are active in the database (3).
Your NLS settings are / can be set on windows on 5 levels
In the registry under /software/oracle:
1) on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
2) on HKEY LOCAL USER
In the envionment settings from windows under control panel, system, advanced, environment settings:
3) on system level
4) on user level
5) On command level via explicitly setting the parameter before starting the actual program
So in all, you can have the case where the NLS settings from sqlplus or Oracle Developer or the database are all different.

  • XML parser error occured in oracle 10g

    Hi,
    XML parser failed while we are using the XMLTYPE.TRANSFORM in oracle 10g product version is 10.2.0.3.0
    I am getting the fallowing error message
    XML-24521: (Error) Element not completed: 'PurchaseOrder' Parser Exception: Element not completed: 'PurchaseOrder'
    but it's working in oracle 9i,both XSD and XSL files are valid only and it's returns the XML data with only one line,the data is truncated in 10g but not in 9i
    In oracle 9i it's returns whole XML data
    is there any idea why the XML parser error in oracle 10g version

    You would be better asking XML questions over in the XML DB

  • WebSphere ServerRepository.xml / Deployed WAR Works, LH Command Line Fails

    Anyone deploying to WebSphere that has gotten the LH Command Line tool to function with a ServerRepository.xml pointing to a DataSource within WebSphere?
    We created a ServerRepository.xml that utilizes the WebSphere DataSource as the Performance is significantly greater for the idm.war deployed to WAS. The idm.war file works & performs better using this.
    LH Command line fails with a ServerRepository.xml pointing to a WebSphere DataSource. I've been troubleshooting with SUN support & so far we have not made any progress to resolve this. LH fails trying to execute anything...see below for example & partial cut/pasted error message.

    To get the WAR deployed within WebSphere to function, I found the IDM Doc (IDM 7.0 Installation - "Configuring a WebSphere DataSource for Identity Manager" - Pgs 117 - 134) to be pretty decent for creating the actual JDBC DataSource.
    My recommendation is to setup the DataSource at the Scope=Cell Level & use a WAS J2C Auth Entry for the DataSource so you do not need to use the -U or -P options in your setRepo command...this also helps ensure its truly connecting using WAS.
    Looking at what you had, try this modified...
    $WSHOME/bin/lh -Djava.ext.dirs=$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext:$WAS_HOME/lib setRepo -n -tSQLServer -icom.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory -fjdbc/idm -uiiop://localhost:9810 -o"D:\apps\temp.xml"
    *Additional comments
    -n will bypass any checking and ignore any error message.
    -f must be identical to the WAS JDBC DataSource Name jdbc/idm
    **You do not need to redeploy after replacing the ServerRepository.xml; however, you do need to bounce the WAS AppServer & should monitor the AppServer SystemOut.log on startup to ensure the IDM WAR starts up successfully
    ***This is all assuming the DataSource you have within WAS is working (you can validate via the TestConnection)

  • Client-cert auth impl in web.xml does not work in Oracle Application Server

    Hi,
    I am new to implementing security features on the web applications.. I have developed a new web service using jdev1012 and deployed in OAS 10.1.2. Its working fine according to the business requirements, but I am in need of implementing client-cert authentication to enable the web service available to only those who have client certificate.
    My server details are:
    Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    Server certificate is in place and SSL mode have been already enabled.. able to access my web service through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS as well able to see the WSDL file through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS?WSDL.
    I tried to include the following in my web.xml file as part of implementing CLIENT-CERT authentication.
    <security-constraint>
    <display-name>SecurityConstraint</display-name>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>WSCollection</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <user-data-constraint>
    <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT</auth-method>
    <realm-name>WSCollection</realm-name> <!-- am not sure about this realm-name and its purpose -->
    </login-config>
    It is not woking as expected, though I have restarted my oc4j container after including this content to the web.xml file. i.e, I am able to invoke the web service though my sample java client program, though I donot have client certificate/keystore.
    I believe I am missing something..Can anyone help me in this regard to implement CLIENT-CERT authentication successfully?
    Thanks,
    Ms

    I am having the same problem with doc and xsl. I have added this
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>xls</extension>
    <mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>doc</extension>
    <mime-type>application/msword</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    to my web.xml. I even restarted the server. I still see doc and xsl in binary.
    Is there some other setting that needs to take place?
    I am using WL6.1 with fixpack 1.
    I can see the doc and excel files in the browser if I don't go through the weblogic
    server. That just confirms it's not my browser.

    thanks, one thing that annoys me is that that apache
    make it so hard to download anything, finding the
    binary is so time consuming, ive been looking for the
    last half hour. its a jokeI kind of agree with you that for certain projects it is a little difficult to find the stable release of the binaries. I personally find it very time consuming to locate the binary for JSTL 1.1 , and finding the binary for Xalan seems a little more easier than finding the one for JSTL 1.1
    For Xalan I was quickly able to locate it through google:
    Searched for "download apache xalan" , then Google showed me
    http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/downloads.html then I clicked on :
    http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/xml/xalan-j
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But for JSTL 1.1 it took quite a number of steps :
    Searched on Google for : "download JSTL 1.1"
    First link showed:
    http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/jstl/downloads/index.html
    Shows the link for Standard 1.0 instead of Standard 1.1
    (A newbie to JSTL wouldn't know that there's a 1.1 final release download available)
    another link for the same keywords takes me to:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/
    Then I click on downloads: http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/#Downloads
    but it only shows Nightly Builds downloads not the stable release ones.
    Then I click on JSTL1.1 on the left nav takes me to
    http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/doc/standard-doc/intro.html
    The download link finally takes me to:
    http://people.apache.org/builds/jakarta-taglibs/nightly/
    which is again nightly
    Then I carefully read and finally see:
    Download the Binary Distribution of the Final Release:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/index.html
    Then I click on TagLibs
    http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_taglibs.html
    and pick Standard 1.1 Tag lib (assuming that is JSTL 1.1)
    http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_taglibs-standard.cgi
    I guess I could report this issue to Apache Taglibs and have them make it more efficient to locate the download for the Taglibs.
  • XML Development Vs. Oracle Developer
    My question is simple:
    We do all of our development work using Oracle Developer and recently have begun to use the Forms Server to put our applications on the Web...I have read a little about XML, but I was wondering if anyone could lend some arguements about :
    1. When would I use XML over Developer?
    2. What do I need to get started?
    3. What would the best resources be to get a very-beginner XMLr going?
    Florent,
    The two products are complimentary. XDB is a server product,
    integrated with the Oracle server engine, and SQL as well.
    BDB XML is a lighter weight, embedded library.
    It is anticipated that the market overlap for the two products
    is not very large.
    George
    I wonder about the benefits of having two XML DB
    engines for Oracle. What are the plans regarding BDX
    (and XDB)?
    On further test, If I let the default oracle xml parser be loaded, then I do not get the the exception.
    I have removed the following lines from orion-application.xml
         <imported-shared-libraries>
              <remove-inherited name="oracle.xml"/>
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    Now, If I access the JPDK provider URL
    http://ple-fjunod.peoplesoft.com:9820/pspc/providers/psprovider/ps/EMPLOYEE
    I get the excepted page
    Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.
    Can someone please tell me that if I remove the inherited default oracle XML parser using remove-inherited tag in orion-application.xml, how do I make the JPDK use my own packaged xerces XML parser.
    Thanks
  • XML Parsing in Oracle 11.2.0.3 SE edition.
    Hi all,
    Previously we were using Oracle 11.2.0.1 SE edition which is now upgraded to 11.2.0.3 SE. Is there any difference in the XML parsing between both these versions ?
    The code for parsing is as below:-
    import oracle.xml.parser.schema.*;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.*;
    import oracle.sql.CHAR;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver;
    import org.xml.sax.*;
    import org.xml.sax.helpers.*;
    // Parse the input XML document with Schema Validation
    in = new FileReader(path + "/" + filename);
    SAXParser sp = new SAXParser();
    sp.setXMLSchema(schemadoc);
    sp.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
    sp.setPreserveWhitespace(true);
    sp.setContentHandler(new gnvprdppetimport(filename, ratingImportId, billingImportId, productImportId));
    sp.parse(in);
    The insert statement statement is as below
    private static void createImport(String type, String importId, String filename, String minEdit, String maxEdit, String siteID, String siteName, String catalogueID, String catalogueName, String userID, String invoicingCompanyID, String invoicingCompanyName, String currencyCode, String currencyName)
    throws Exception {
    if (type == "RATING") {insert("ratingimport",new String[]
    {"ratingimport_id", "geneva_user_ora", "import_dtm", "file_name", "ratingedit_min_num", "ratingedit_max_num", "export_site_id", "export_site_name", "exp_rating_catalogue_id", "exp_rating_catalogue_name", "export_geneva_user_ora", "export_invoicing_co_id", "export_invoicing_co_name", "export_currency_code", "export_currency_name", "ratingconflict_boo"},
    new String[] {importId, getUserId(), getSystemDate(), filename, minEdit, maxEdit, siteID, siteName, catalogueID, catalogueName, userID, invoicingCompanyID, invoicingCompanyName, currencyCode, currencyName, "T"});
    }
    C:\oracle\ora9011\xdk\demo\java\parser\dom>oraxml -version
    -warning Namespaces2.xml
    Parser version: Oracle XDK Java 9.0.1.0.0 Production
    The input XML file is parsed without errors using partial
    validation mode
    Oraxml does not recognize the two attributes with the same name
    in element 'BadAttrs_XML_1.0' as an error.
    2.) oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser
    C:\oracle\ora9011\xdk\demo\java\parser\dom>java DOMSample
    file:Namespaces2.xml<Line 8, Column 38>: XML-0124: (Fata
    l Error) An attribute cannot appear more than once in the same
    start tag.
    oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: An attribute cannot
    appear more than once in the same start tag.
    I have modified the DomSample.java. The DomParser just checks for
    well-formed documents and doesn't validate the document anymore.
    (only a comment before
    parser.setValidationMode(DOMParser.DTD_VALIDATION);)
    My question is:
    Is there really a difference between oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxml
    and oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser or which parameters do I have
    to use to get the same results?
    With Oracle8i, both report an xml error!!
    (Oracle9i, Win2000, JDK1.3)
    Thanx in advance!
    It would appear that there is a difference when a loadjava is given a jar vs. the individual class files. When I load the jar, I get the previously described error, but when I load the individual class files (the same class files that the jar contains) the error goes away.
    Why?
  • Loading XML parser for PL/SQL
    I am working my way thru 'Building Oracle XML Applications' by Steve Muench.
    I am getting a problem when I try to install the XML parser for PL/SQL
    The following errors occur when I try to do
    loadjava -v -r -u xmlbook/xmlbook xmlparserv2.jar
    initialization complete
    loading : oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLByteReader
    creating : oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLByteReader
    loading : oracle/xml/parser/v2/PrintDriver
    Error while resolving class org/w3c/dom/html/HTMLAnchorElement
    ORA-04043: object /564607d_HTMLAnchorElement does not exist
    About 20 classes get loaded correctly. All the rest get ORA-29545 or ORA-04043 errors.
    I expect the ORA-04043 errors are a result of the earlier errors.
    The documentation seems to indicate that there is no need to do
    dbms_java.grant_permission to load into your own schema.
    I have NT4 (sp6)
    Oracle 8.1.7
    xmlparserv2.jar dated 24/8/2001 17:01 size 1,177,259
    xmlparserv2_2027.jar gives the same errors.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Was it definitely xmlparsev2.jar that you had to load?
    I recently started going through some of these examples as well and found that the standard xml parser was there but that I needed to load the xml parser for PL/SQL. I did this using loadjava from a subdirectory within the xdk directory and everything worked fine.
