XPath - Return current node without child nodes

Good day.
I hv the following XML for example and I tried to write a XPath query to return just the <AAA> and omit all the other child nodes (BBB and CCC and BBBBB) .
<AAA Name='aaa' ID='aaa'>
<BBB>bbbbbbbbbb</BBB>
<BBBBB>bbbbbbbbbbbbbbb</BBBBB>
<CCC>cccccccccc</CCC>
</AAA>I tried //AAA/self::* but it still return the whole childnodes to me. I searched in internet as well but I didn't found any solution for that. May be I was using the wrong keywords to search.
Any idea how to accomplish this ?
Thanks.

XPath will only return nodes that already exist in the document. What you are asking for is another node that is constructed from that AAA node by removing all its children. I don't know how you would do that, because I don't know anything about the structures you are using (DOM? XSLT? What?). But XPath can't do it.

  • Human Workflow Task XPath query string returns multiple nodes.

    I am looking for trouble shooting help for this error. I am no sure if it is a server or jdev issue.
    I am running JDev version 10.1.3.3 and console version 10.1.3.1.0 locally.
    General information on the BPEL process:
    I have a temporary table in Oracle lite that I created items to be review by the user. I created a synchronous BPEL process. The first step in developing this process, I created the straight forward invoke the table to get the records, transform the records with a change the approve flag = "Y", and invoke the table to update the records. Works like a charm. I followed the online tutorial by dropping a human task after the transform, configured the parameters, setup the assignments, and moved the invoke to update table under the approved condition. If the table has only one record, the process runs great but if there are two records I get the following error message.

    Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Here is how I solved this problem: I was told by the metalink folks that I should use the same verion of SOA console as jdev. So I went back to jdev 10.1.3.1. Rather than reading from the Oracle lite table, I dumped the table into a flat file. I read flat file and populated the workflow. Remember to set the 'messages in batch' flag in the file adapter to 1 and the number of records to skip to zero in the format builder for the flat file. The process now reads each record and creates an instance for that each record. In other words, if I have 8 records in my flat file, I will have 8 instances of the process running on the console. Thanks Jeremy for your help figuring this out.

    Hi-
    This is because you are have multiple nodes either in source or target XML.
    My guess is some nodes of your XML might be repeating (means a single element/node has multiple values). Can you please check that or please post your XML here.

    Hi,
    Can somebody please help me with this problem. I am trying to return a specific node name, return it, and see if it has any child nodes. Below is a snippet from my XML doc:

  • Using XPath to create nodes

    Hi,
    Obviously the main use of XPath is to query the state of an XML document... the equivalent to a "select" statement in SQL.
    DOM4J has methods that allow you to use XPath as the equivalent to "insert" statements in SQL. You can specify an XPath like "/Hello/World/Value = 3" and apply this XPath to an XML document so that it creates something like this for you:
    <Hello>
    <World>
    <Value>3</Value>
    </World>
    </Hello>
    This is actually very useful for an investment banking application that I'm working on.
    The problem with DOM4J is that it doesn't handle attributes or conditionals well. If you specify
    /Hello[@name=2]/World = 3
    I would expect
    <Hello name=2>
    <World>3</World>
    </Hello>
    to be produced. Instead, it produces
    <Hello[@name=2]>
    <World>3</World>
    </Hello>
    These are all simple examples. What I'm doing in real life is using XPath to insert nodes into a complicated XML document that already has a lot of structure. I'm only adding one or two elements to big documents.
    Is there anything at all like this available in the JDK 1.5 release. I've had a good look, and XPath looks like it's only for queries. Is this correct?

    I think this might do what you need...
    // Create a dummy XML document
    DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    InputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream("<test><e1/></test>".getBytes());
    Document doc = db.parse(bais);
    // Define the XPath expression to "select" the parent element in the document
    XPath xpath = XPathFactory.newInstance().newXPath();
    XPathExpression xpathExpression = xpath.compile("/test/e1");
    // Select the parent node (should probably chuck an ex if not present)
    Node node = (Node) xpathExpression.evaluate(doc, XPathConstants.NODE);
    // Create and append the child element
    node.appendChild(doc.createElement("newElement"));
    // Convert the Document into a string
    ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc);
    StreamResult result = new StreamResult(baos);
    TransformerFactory transformerFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer = transformerFactory.newTransformer();
    transformer.transform(source, result);
    // <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><test><e1><newElement/></e1></test>
    System.out.println(baos.toString());

  • How do I calculate/retrieve the depth of a current node in XSLT?

    I mean the number of parent nodes a particular node has, hard coded something like:
    <root>
    <child depth="1">
    <another_child depth="2">
    I do not want to hard code these levels, so i am searching for a way to do it in XSLT. I could not find a function/element for this purpose.
    Who knows the solution????
    tnx

    You count the nodes in the ancestor axis: something like count(ancestor:*). Adjust by +/-1 if you need to include/exclude the root or the current node.

  • How to get the parent node of the current node?

    Hi all,
    i want to get the parent node of the current node and the not the parent of the parent node.
    thank you very much

    Hi,
    the parent node of <subnode1-2>29.99</subnode1-2> is (node1), how can do to get <node1> throw <subnode1-2>29.99</subnode1-2> the sub node of <node1>.
    As per my understanding the parent node of <subnode1-2>29.99</subnode1-2> is book not the node1.
    If you want node 1 as a parent of subnode1-2 than your xml will look like this.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <bookstore>
    <book>
    <fathernode>Harry Potter</fathernode>
    <node1>
           <subnode1>29.99</subnode1>
           <subnode2>29.99</subnode2>
    </node1>
    <node2>
           <subnode1>19.99</subnode1>
           <subnode2>19.99</subnode2>
    </node2>
    </book>
    </bookstore>
    and also if you want tom retrive float data than refer following XPATH.
    "//book[[price='1000']]/price/text()"

  • Search with "Current Node + All Subfolders" not functioning correctly

    Hi,
    We are having an issue with the search function of SCCM 2012 Admin Console. We have built multi-level folder structure to SCCM which matches our organizational unit structure in AD.
    The issue occurs when trying to search with "Current Node + All Subfolders" option in a folder to get listing of all collections nested in the structure. As a result we get incomplete list of collections and majority of them are not showing
    up. Sometimes the console even crashes when trying to do this kind of search. Note that this behaviour only occurs when searching inside a folder, not in the device collections root node.
    We managed to trace the SQL query in the above situation from SMSProv.log, and it is as follows:
    select  all SMS_Collection.SiteID,SMS_Collection.CollectionType,SMS_Collection.CollectionVariablesCount,SMS_Collection.CollectionComment,SMS_Collection.CurrentStatus,SMS_Collection.HasProvisionedMember,SMS_Collection.IncludeExcludeCollectionsCount,SMS_Collection.IsBuiltIn,SMS_Collection.IsReferenceCollection,SMS_Collection.LastChangeTime,SMS_Collection.LastMemberChangeTime,SMS_Collection.LastRefreshTime,SMS_Collection.LimitToCollectionID,SMS_Collection.LimitToCollectionName,SMS_Collection.LocalMemberCount,SMS_Collection.ResultClassName,SMS_Collection.MemberCount,SMS_Collection.MonitoringFlags,SMS_Collection.CollectionName,SMS_Collection.PowerConfigsCount,SMS_Collection.RefreshType,SMS_Collection.ServiceWindowsCount from vCollections AS SMS_Collection  where (SMS_Collection.SiteID
    in (select  all Folder##Alias##810314.InstanceKey from vFolderMembers AS Folder##Alias##810314
    where (Folder##Alias##810314.ObjectTypeName = N'SMS_Collection_Device'
    AND Folder##Alias##810314.ContainerNodeID in
    (16777237,16777374,16777384,16777385,16777375,16777376,16777377,16777378)))
    AND SMS_Collection.CollectionType = 2) order by SMS_Collection.CollectionName
    From this we noticed that not all ContainerNodeIDs are searched, but a list of only 8 ContainerNodeIDs. These ContainerNodeIDs remain the same if the search is done again in the same folder. The same behaviour repeats also in other folders with a different
    list of ContainerNodeIDs.
    For clarification I'll attach a picture which shows our folder structure with ContainerNodeIDs and ParentContainerIDs. We have also marked the containers which were present in SQL statement. From this you can clearly see there should have been far more ContainerNodeIDs
    than listed in the SQL query. Is this a bug in the admin console or could this be a problem with our site database? Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? We have written a custom
    powershell script that reads containers from SMS_ObjectContainerNode WMI-class recursively and is able to return complete list of folders and their subfolders, so we assume that our site database and WMI on site server is functioning correctly.
    We noticed this on CU2 (could have been present also earlier) and updating to CU3 did not fix the problem. Currently we are running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 with one primary site. All components besides distribution point is running on the site server. Distrubution
    point is running on a separate server. Our SQL server is running on the site server.
    Best Regards,
    Juha-Matti

    Sorry for the very long delay. I created the ticket in the autumn of last year and just received the final verdict to this issue.
    Microsoft support said they were able to reproduce the problem and that they contacted the product group about this issue. It turns out that this behaviour is by design (wait, what?) and since it is by design there is nothing they
    can/will do about it.
    So the only choice is to request a tailored customization for SCCM2012, which probably in this case (as it is by design) would cost.
    I feel a bit puzzled: how can it be by design if it clearly does not work?

    <liability id="1">
    <value> 10000 </value>
    </liability>
    <asset id = "2">
    <value> 20000 </value>
    </asset>
    </data>
    so take the case above, i have a house which is an asset and i have a mortgage(liability) on that house, now i want to show that in my asset that there is a liability on this asset, so i need to come up with a way to link my asset to a liability, now easiest way in my thinking is just point to the XPath of the liability!! Now problem is this, at the data level that im working at, i know what data node im working on but i dont know its absolute path, in my case the above XML is just a snippet of what im dealing with, there is more hierarchical levels in my document!! Maybe im blind but i couldnt see from the API how to get the XPath of a node?? is there existing API which does this or will i have to go ahead and write something to come up with the XPath!! or does anyone have any other suggestions as to how i would do my link??
    The way i see my XML when finished is something like this
    <data>
    <liability id="1">
    <value> 10000 </value>
    </liability>
    <asset id = "2">
    <value> 20000 </value>
    <liability> /data/liability[@id='1'] </liability>
    </asset>
    </data>
    any thoughts are welcome,
    cheers,
    LL

    A better design would be to make your "id" attribute the key... looking back at your post, it seems that you have done that already. So your XML should just look something like this:<data>
    <liability id="1">
    <value> 10000 </value>
    </liability>
    <asset id = "2" liabilityid="1">
    <value> 20000 </value>
    </asset>
    </data>Then when your code needs to match the liability to the asset, you can easily build the XPath to find it. (Of course if there can be more than one liability per asset, you shouldn't use a liabilityid attribute as I did in the example.)

  • How to get the current node element by its value?

    e.g,:
    wdContext.current<b>Deal</b>Element().setAttributeValue("<i>deal_id</i>","<i>aaaaaaa</i>");
    above code can get the result i wanna.
    but now i wanna in terms of its node'name to  set attribute vaue of itself. in other words,i have no idea about how to get the current node element by its name"<b>Deal</b>".

    Hi Wing,
    The answer is there in your question itself.
    wdContext.currentDealElement()
    will give you the current node element by its name"Deal" or you could use
    wdContext.nodeDeal().getCurrentElement()
    or you could use
    wdContext.nodeDeal().getElementAt(wdContext.nodeDeal().getLeadSelection())

  • Current node tree with tooltip_text

    Hello,
    How can i display a tooltip_text for the current node from a tree ?
    I tried with
    :Ctrl.Node_Selected     := Ftree.Get_Tree_Node_Property('BL_TREE.MENU',
    :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE,
    Ftree.NODE_VALUE);
    set_item_property('BL_TREE.MENU',
    tooltip_text,
    :Ctrl.Node_Selected);
    I didn't find something with the build_in set_Tree_Node_Property
    There is a possibility to display an icon for each node ? I build the tree with a record group. How can I do it ?
    Thanks
    Bye

    hi,
    you can set the tooltip-text of the whole treebean according to the currently selected "active" node.
    Try to use the code you already used in a WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED-Trigger.
    It's not possible to have a tooltip-text for each node separately.
    Yes, you can assign an icon to each node. Whn you use a recordgroup to fill the tree, one of the columns of the recordgroup has to be the name of the icon
    If i remember correctly the columns are
    NODE_STATE
    NODE_DEPTH
    NODE_LABEL
    NODE_ICON
    NODE_VALUE
