Xsql exception

I got this xsql exception and I can't figure out why?
"Oracle XSQL Programmatic Page Processor 1.0.4.0 (Production) XSQL-007: Cannot acquire a database connection to process page. Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=135290880)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))."

This means your <connection> information in your XSQLConfig.xml file is not configured properly for your database. Things that could be wrong are:
[list][*]the database machine name[*]the database SID[*]the database port number[list]

  • XSQL exception displaying funky chars:Cannot map Unicode to Oracle characte

    Hi.
    I'm using XSQL Servlet to serve XML from a 9.2 database. The varchar columns I'm trying to display have non-ASCII characters in them (Spanish enye, curly quotes, etc.). The database's character encoding is WE8ISO8859P1, which handles these characters fine. Running a simple "select * from..." query, I get this error:
    oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Cannot map Unicode to Oracle character
    which seems odd considering it ought to be mapping an Oracle character to a Unicode character, not the other way around. Additionally, what's the problem? Unicode supports a large superset of WE8ISO8859P1.
    Any idea how I can get XSQL Servlet to play nice with these funky characters?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Update: still stuck...

  • XSQL-001: Cannot locate requested XSQL file. Check the name.

    I downloaded oracle 9i and the latest beta of XDK for Java and
    encountered the following error:
    Oracle XSQL Servlet Page Processor 9.0.2.0.0C (Beta)
    XSQL-001: Cannot locate requested XSQL file. Check the name.
    Since I am using JBuilder5, I configured the bundled Tomcat to
    reference the XSQL Servlet as per the described docbase setting.
    n.b.: I am not running a web or application server at this time.
    Tomcat is my servlet container which I directly connect to from
    my browser.
    I extracted the XDK into the oracle\ora90 folders. I extracted
    XDK to my oracle\ora90 folder, since
    the "bundled" XDK is located there already, and it appeared to
    be lacking the XDK for Java.
    I read the xdkload.bat, and it appeared to be required to
    resolve earlier undefined methods
    issues as per the documentation, so I gambled and ran it. BTW,
    unresolved methods was my initial problem.
    The attached files describe a method not defined error. Not sure
    how to proceed. Thanks.

    I should have added the associated Tomcat trace. Note the
    exception, java.lang.NoSuchMethodError, which is possibly the
    real issue.

  • Using cursor to query from data dictionary

    Hi
    I am having a weird problem.
    In a procedure, I like to compress some tables
    so I wrote a cursor like this:
    CURSOR crs IS SELECT OWNER,TABLE_NAME FROM ALL_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME LIKE '%ABC';then I'm opening the cursor in for loop and running
    xSql := 'ALTER TABLE ' || X.OWNER || '.' || X.TABLE_NAME || ' MOVE COMPRESS';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE (xSql);Now strangely enough, my cursor is not fetching any record at all inside procedure!
    But when I run the cursor select statement of its own in SqlPlus, it does fetch lots of record!
    So, what's wrong??

  • Is there a for-each statement in XSQL like the one in XSL?

    I'm trying to do the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <!-- <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="/dvd/xsl/admin/listuser.xsl"?>
    -->

    <password>terry</password>

    </userinfo>
    </allusers>
    </database>Now as you can see, I have 4 instances of <checkboxuser> in my XSQL page. These values are being passed in from checkboxes on the previous page. Is there an XSQL command that will say something like <xsql:for-each select="/database/request/parameters/checkboxuser"> ?
    So that it'd look something like this in the original code:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!--<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="/dvd/xsl/admin/listuser.xsl"?>-->
    <database connection="dvddb" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql">

    FROM LKUP_USER
    WHERE USERNAME = '<xsql:for-each select="/database/request/parameters/checkboxuser">'
    ORDER BY ACCESSLEVEL
    </xsql:query>
    </database>Or something like that... The XSL works fine, but not when I want to pull info from the DB.. :)

  • XSQL file "Invalid at the top level of the document"

    I am trying to insert HTML form parameters into database using <xsql:insert-request>. It worked fine except that it displays <xsql-status action="xsql:insert-request" rows="1"/> after it inserts the data into the database. I am trying to follow the insertnewsform example in Steve's book "building oracle xml applications" to return user a thank-you note. Here is my problem:
    I have four files:
    faqform.html (html form, action=faqfeed.xsql)
    faqfeed.xsql
    request-to-faq.xsl (used as transform for faqfeed.xsql)
    thankyou.xsl (used for returning user a thank-you)
    When I submit the html form, I get an error saying:
    "The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    Invalid at the top level of the document. Line 1, Position 43
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>"
    I didn't put "encoding..." in any of my xsql files, not sure where that came from. When I used faqfeed.xsql?xml-stylesheet=none in the url and it showed up as a well-formed xml file with all the info I need. Here is my faqfeed.xsql and thankyou.xsl
    ********* faqfeed.xsql ***********
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="thankyou.xsl"?>
    <page connection="template" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql">
    <xsql:insert-request table="faq" transform="request-to-faq.xsl"/>
    <xsql:query tag-case="lower" max-rows="5" rowset-element="" row-element="faq">
    select * from faq
    </xsql:query>
    </page>
    ********* thankyou.xsl **********
    <html xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xsl:version="1.0">
    <head><title>Thank you!</title></head>
    <body>
    <h3>Thank you for your faq!</h3>
    Your faq has been successfully inserted to the database!
    <table>
    <xsl:for-each select="page/faq">

    <td><xsl:value-of select="answer"/></td>
    </tr>
    </xsl:for-each>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Anything I am missing here that caused that error? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

    Do the XSQL Demos work correctly on your system?
    The error you're getting seems like maybe the *.xsql extension is not mapped properly to the oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet class in your servlet engine.

  • Query handled OK on Oracle server but XSQL Servlet raises OracleXMLSQLException

    After dropping and recreating certain object types, and then using ALTER TYPE on an object dependent on those object types, XSQL Servlet raises exception for a query that is handled fine in the Oracle Server itself (ie, in SQL*Plus) as in the following test case:
    create or replace type o_object_inner as object( char1 char(1) )
    create or replace type n_nested_table as table of o_object_inner
    create or replace type o_object_outer as object (nNestedTab n_nested_table)
    For above, the following query encounters no problems on Oracle Server or in XSQL servlet:
    Select o_object_outer(NULL) as "theOuterObj" from dual
    But then if object types are modified as follows:
    drop type o_object_inner force
    create or replace type o_object_inner as object( char1 char(1) ) --same as above
    drop type n_nested_table force
    create or replace type n_nested_table as table of o_object_inner --same as above
    alter type o_object_outer compile
    The above query now encounters no problems in SQL*Plus but generates exception in XSQL servlet as follows:
    oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Internal Error: Unable to resolve name
    More complex cases generated the above exception and/or the following exception:
    oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Internal Error: Invalid ADT attribute
    Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!

    Yes,
    I changed most of the cursor functions to cast(multiset()). Sometimes i divided a big query into two or three queries (when there was cursor nested in a cursor). It was one day work for me. Don't forget to change the tags with ROW to ITEM in your xsl-stylesheets.

  • Problem with xsql:query

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with the following simple XSQL document:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xsql:query connection="xsqltest" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql">
    SELECT concat(concat(forename, ' '), surname) AS Name
    , d.name AS Department
    FROM emp, dept d
    WHERE emp.dept_no = d.id
    ORDER BY surname
    </xsql:query>When I transform this using the command line xsql, it produces the following (as expected):
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <Name>Cindy Delight</Name>
    <Department>Accounting</Department>
    </ROW>
    <ROW num="2">
    <Name>Adrian Rue</Name>
    <Department>Product Development</Department>
    </ROW>
    <ROW num="3">
    <Name>Dwight Dweeb</Name>
    <Department>Accounting</Department>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>However, when I access the same page through my browser, the output is:
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <xsql:query>
    SELECT concat(concat(forename, ' '), surname) AS Name
    , d.name AS Department
    FROM emp, dept d
    WHERE emp.dept_no = d.id
    ORDER BY surname
    </xsql:query>(this is the same as the input document, except the namespace declaration has been stripped out, making the XML invalid).
    I've tried including other xsql tags in the same document (e.g. xsql:include-xsql), these seem to work fine. Also, if I change the connect details, XSQL fails as expected, so it would appear xsql is being invoked by Tomcat (.xsql is mapped to the servlet), and XSQL successfully connecting to the database.
    My setup is slightly unusual: I'm trying to use XSQL 1.0.4.1 with MySQL 3.23.32 using the mm.mysql 2.0.4 JDBC drivers. This is running on Tomcat 3.2.1 with JDK 1.3 (OJVM 1.2.330). But, since it works with the command line xsql, I'm at a loss as to why it's misbehaving through the servlet engine only... any ideas?
    Steve

    Hmm,
    Even more confusing - the same .xsql document works fine with WebToGo - so I guess this is a Tomcat problem, somehow... Just can't understand why xsql:include-xsql works and xsql:query doesn't.

  • XSQL and insert

    This may sound like a dumb question but I can't figure out how to associate the xml doc with the xsql doc to do an insert. Here are my files:
    XSQL - filename custins.xsql
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <xsql:insert-request table="CUSTOMERS_OV" connection="dev7" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql"/>
    XML - No file name, genned on the fly in javascript
    <?xml version='1.0'?>
    <ROWSET><ROW>
    <CUST_NO>1</CUST_NO>
    </ROW></ROWSET>
    I call custins.xsql as a submit from a form. The xml is dynamically created and I pass it as a parameter, i.e.
    http://localhost:7070/custins.xsql?docxml=<?xml version='1.0'?><...etc>
    What I get when I do this is:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <xsql-status action="xsql:insert-request" result="No posted document to process" />
    Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Lewis
    null

    Got it figured out. I was using method="get" while debugging and xsql expects it to be post.
    Now I'm getting:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <xsql-error action="xsql:insert-request">
    <message>Exception ' The XML element tag 'DocXml' does not match the name of any of the columns/attributes of the target database object.' encountered during processing ROW element 0All prior XML row changes were rolled back. in the XML document.</message>
    </xsql-error>
    Which I'm assuming means that it wants to parse out the parameters instead of me making an xml doc. The problem with that is my data resides in 3 frames, across 7 forms. How do I handle this?
    I'll post this question with a new topic.

  • XSQL-003 Error with jakarta-tomcat-4.0.3

    I am trying to set up the XSQLServlet on JBuilder7 using jakarta-tomcat-4.0.3 as the development server.
    I downloaded and carefully follwed the installation instructions for Tomcat 3.1 and 3.2 although the bat files have changed considerably. Set classpath in setclasses.bat and prescribed in instructions. Setup a context in server.xml for /xsql and setup a web.xml file to map oracle-xsql-servlet to *.xsql. Also tried mapping to *.xsql in web.xml for my application, but I continue to get the XSQL-003 error; "failed to find XSQLConfig.xml in the server classpath". I checked the discussion forums and tried jarring the XSQLConfig.xml file and set that in the server CLASSPATH. Still no luck.
    My question: Are there any installation instructions for installing the XSQLServlet on Jakarta Tomcat 4.0.3?
    Tomcat can't find the XSQLConfig.xml file or there is some other problem that is throwing this exception.

    Hey man, i have the same problem, what should I do?
    I can`t define the classpath when I run the server as service, but it works when i run manually starup.bat, because there i have defined the classpath.
    Please, give me an advice
    Thanks...

  • XSQL servlet behave strange in Websphere 5.1 but not in Jboss/tomcat

    Hi, we have been using XSQL Servlet (come with 9i) in jboss for a few years without any problem.
    (The oracle database is 10g, but I don't think this is related since the XSQL use jdbc connection.)
    Recently we try to migrate the app server to websphere app server 5.1 and the majority of xsql scripts work fine (still using the original xdk/xsql jars)
    But for a few with xsql script using:
    <xsql:include-request-params xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql"/>
    it works for simple test xsql script with just this line at the very begining.
    Then I switch to a more complicated xsql with other lines such as: update-request, delete-request, it throws exceptions all the time, and after that the simple test script also breaks.
    Here is the exception in the xml returned:

    Could this be a bug?
    Did anyone have a clue?
    I also tried to use the xdk for 10g, but the library doesn't work with WAS 5.1 somehow, it complains about:
    javax.xml.namespace.QName: method <init>(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V not found
    Really appreciate your help.
    Kai.

    The fact that XSQL servlet works in other containers suggests that this is WS problem, not the servlet problem. Probably some misimplementation of a deprecated method or something. What is exact version of XSQL servlet? Have you tried with the latest 9.2.0.9 production that comes with 9.2.0.7 db patch set? If you did and the error persists, does the error stack match the one posted (line numbers are of particular interest?)

    I have the alias *.xsql set to map to the servlet named oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet under the Servlet Aliases section, but I'm not sure how to add the servlet under the Servlet section, as I'm guessing that this is the problem I'm now experiencing. I tried adding oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet as both the servlet name and class, but this is not working.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Rani,
    The following is part of a message that was posted back on Nov. 7 of '99 from Steve Muench. I just followed this exactly with the Java Web Server 1.0.1 and it worked fine (including adding the classpath settings and xsql servlet mappings as it says below). Thanks,Dan
    Here's the steps I just followed to run all the XSQL Demos under JSWDK 1.0.1
    (1) Downloaded jswdk1_0_1-win.zip from Sun
    (2) Installed in D:\jswdk-1.0.1
    (3) Edited "startserver.bat" to add the
    classpath entries needed by XSQL Servlet:
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\classes111.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\oraclexsql.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\oraclexmlsql.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;d:\xsql\lib\xmlparserv2.jar
    (4)Edited d:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/WEB-INF/servlets.properties and added the line:
    xsql.code=oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
    (5) Edited d:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/WEB-INF/mappings.properties
    and added the line:
    .xsql=xsql
    (6) Copied D:\xsql\demo to D:/jswdk-1.0.1/webpages/xsql/demo
    (7) Started the Webserver with "startserver.bat"
    (8) Browsed http://localhost:8080/xsql/demo/index.html
    (9) Exercised all the demos.
    Hope this helps.

  • Setting up the XSQL Servlet engine

    I am trying to set up the XSQL servlet component of 9iAS. From what I read all of the necessary components are included in 9iAS, there is no need to download the XSQL servlet from technet. Is this true? I try to run the demo's (e.g. hello world) but am always getting a connection refused error. I edited the XSQLConfig.xml file to include the host, port and sid but still no luck.
    I am at a loss. I have 8.1.7 SE database installed with JDBC drivers, 9iAS 1.0.2. Is this all I need or do I have to download something else.

    Steven,
    Thanks for responding. I am a DBA so I'm only 50% incompetent. The 9iAS version is 1.0.2.1.0 Solaris and the DB is 8i SE, right now on the same Solaris box. The Jserv and JSP demos on the initial install home page work fine and I was able to get Oracle Portal running etc. so I think the Server is working. When I check the installed products for the DB I see several JDBC drivers appear to be installed.
    segmet from XSQLConfig.xml:
    <connection name="demo">
    <username>scott</username>
    <password>tiger</password>
    <dburl>jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.100.146.22:1521:NPGSDEV</dburl>
    <driver>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</driver>
    </connection>
    I can connect scott/tiger@npgsdev in sqlplus as well as tnsping npgsdev and the port is 1521 so the tnslistener is up and running.
    I can call up the demo page at: http://192.100.146.22:7777/xsql/java/xsql/index.html
    but any attempt to run them gives:
    Oracle XSQL Servlet Page Processor 1.0.0.0 (Production)
    Oracle XSQL Servlet Page Processor 1.0.0.0 (Production)
    XSQL-007: Cannot acquire a database connection to process page.
    Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=135294976)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. -quinn

  • XSQL-022 error on using FOP - serializer class not found; urgent!

    Hi all,
    currently using XDK 9.2.0.1.0. On trying to invoke Apache FOP serializer I just get the following error message:
    XSQL-022: Cannot load serializer class oracle.xml.xsql.serializers.fopserializer
    and I really don't know why....
    Running XSQL Servlet within Tomcat 4 Engine, but error pops up using both, Tomcat way and/or just the commandline invoker xsql.bat.
    Generally XSQL Servlet is working correctly.
    My classpath setting contains:
    xmlparserv2.jar; batik.jar; classes12.jar; fop.jar; fopserializer.jar; oraclexsql.jar; sax2.jar; xalan-2.0.0.jar; xalanj1compat.jar; xerces-1.2.3.jar; xschema.jar; XSQLConfig.jar; xsu12.jar
    The serializer being redefined in XSQLConfig is just:
    <serializer>
    <name>FOP203</name>
    <class>oracle.xml.xsql.serializers.fopserializer</class>
    </serializer>
    This is because of using FOP 0.20.3, so having my own serializer class due to API change in FOP 0.20.x; my fopserializer is looking like that:
    package oracle.xml.xsql.serializers;
    import org.w3c.dom.Document;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import oracle.xml.xsql.*;
    import org.apache.fop.messaging.MessageHandler;
    import org.apache.fop.apps.*;
    import java.io.*;
    // FOP 0.20.3 Serializer implementation for XSQL
    public class fopserializer implements XSQLDocumentSerializer
    private static final String PDFMIME="application/pdf";
    public void serialize(Document doc, XSQLPageRequest req) throws Throwable
    try
    Driver FOPDriver = new Driver();
    FOPDriver.setRenderer(FOPDriver.RENDER_PDF);
    MessageHandler.setOutputMethod(MessageHandler.NONE);
    FOPDriver.setupDefaultMappings();
    req.setContentType(PDFMIME);
    FOPDriver.setOutputStream(req.getOutputStream());
    FOPDriver.render(doc);
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace(System.err);
    In my XSQL file I'm using the following PI:
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="listemps.fo" serializer="FOP203"?>
    Any suggestions what is wrong in here ?
    Can't use the original xsqlserializer.jar either - same error.
    Thanks in advance
    Jochen

    Hi Jochen,
    I'm working with Tomcat 4.0.3, FOP 20.0.3 and XDK 9.2.0.1.0, too.
    I've copied all the jar-files into tomcat/common/lib. I think that you can't use the MessageHandler in fop20.0.3. I'm using the following serializer:
    package diva.xml.xsql.serializers;
    import org.w3c.dom.Document;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import oracle.xml.xsql.*;
    import org.apache.fop.apps.*;
    import org.apache.log.*;
    import org.apache.log.format.*;
    import org.apache.log.output.io.*;
    import org.apache.avalon.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class XSQLFOP203Serializer implements XSQLDocumentSerializer {
    private static final String PDFMIME = "application/pdf";
    private static final String CONFPATH = "/usr/local/fop/conf/userconfig.xml";
    public void serialize(Document doc, XSQLPageRequest env) throws Throwable {
    try {
    // Open user config file
    File userConfigFile = new File(CONFPATH);
    Options options = new Options(userConfigFile);
    // First make sure we can load the driver
    Driver FOPDriver = new Driver();
    // Setup logging
    Hierarchy hierarchy = Hierarchy.getDefaultHierarchy();
    PatternFormatter formatter = new PatternFormatter("[%{priority}]: %{message}\n%{throwable}" );
    LogTarget target = null;
    target = new StreamTarget(System.out, formatter);
    hierarchy.setDefaultLogTarget(target);
    Logger log = hierarchy.getLoggerFor("fop");
    log.setPriority(Priority.INFO);
    FOPDriver.setLogger(log);
    // Then set the content type before getting the reader/
    env.setContentType(PDFMIME);
    FOPDriver.setRenderer(FOPDriver.RENDER_PDF);
    FOPDriver.setOutputStream(env.getOutputStream());
    FOPDriver.render(doc);
    catch (Exception e) {
    // Cannot write PDF output for the error anyway.
    // So maybe this stack trace will be useful info
    e.printStackTrace(System.err);
    Hope this helps
    Uwe
