Yahoo Bulk Mail....

I seem to notice now that when I use Yahoo mail on my old 2g iPhone, the bulk mail folder says there are messages but when I click LOAD MORE MESSAGES, nothing comes in.

The following all applies to POP accounts. It assume it can apply to IMAP, too, but I have no direct experience with Yahoo IMAP accounts.
So: In order to ensure that mail from a given address NEVER gets treated as spam, click the "add to address book" link next to the "From:" line of the message. (You need to do this from Yahoo's webmail interface, not from inside Mail.app or iPhone mail.)
There's no guaranteed way to make sure that mail from a given address will ALWAYS get treated as spam. You can label it as spam (again, in the webmail interface: click the "spam" button), but in my experience that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
You can also choose whether or not to download mail that is in your bulk folder. As above, this is a setting on the Yahoo side, NOT on the client side, so you have to use your web browser. Once in your mailbox, click on the "Mail options" link, and one of the options should control whether you download spam or not.
If you turn on the option to not download spam, the spam will reside in your bulk folder for 30 days, but you will never see it in a client program such as Mail.app. It's therefore a good idea to check the bulk folder through a web browser every now and then, to make sure there isn't any mail you wanted in there.

  • Use This Mailbox for... not working for Yahoo Bulk Mail

    Hello!
I have a Mac Pro and MacBook Pro, both running Mountain Lion.  My two Yahoo mail accounts are successfully set up via Mail on both Macs.  I was able to use the "Use this Mailbox for..." command to assign the Drafts, Sent and Trash for each account to the respective Yahoo folders (so I don't have duplicate folders). The problem is trying to do the same for the Bulk Mail folders.
On my Mac Pro, I was able to successfully select the Yahoo Bulk Mail folders for each account and use "Use this Mailbox for... --> Junk" and it worked, no problems.  On the MacBook Pro, however, when I attempt to do the same thing, it doesn't seem to take.  Nothing happens...the Bulk Mail folder in each account remains separate in each account's folders, instead of moving up under the Mailboxes above the VIPs, Drafts, Sent and Trash.
I've tried Rebuilding the mailboxes, and eventually deleting the accounts and re-adding them to Mail on the MBP...still can't get the Bulk Mail folders to assign to Junk.  The others (Drafts, Sent, Trash), no problems.
    Suggestions?

Well, after literally months of searching, and trying to find different search terms to find the answer, I finally solved it.

  • How do I permenently delete yahoo bulk mail folder on my Mac ? I

How do I permenently delete yahoo bulk mail folder on my iMac?

    1. No.
    2. You either buy a download code for Mountain Lion from the online Apple Store or get Yosemite from the Mac App Store.
    3. Game Center isn’t part of 10.7.5.

  • Yahoo Bulk Mail on iPhone...

Unless I have some settings wrong, it says I have a bunch of messages in BULK MAIL on my iphone yahoo account but when i tap the LOAD MESSAGES it does nothing and I cant see the mail. Do I need to adjust some setting on my web side yahoo account?
    Thx
    Jga

I just called apple care to even know how to respond to this answer. I am very old and this was my first post ever. I appreciate you taking the time to give me an answer. I also ask them how to delete this account because every time I log in it wants me to change my password and I have run out of passwords. I don't even know what it means when it ask me the community I want to be in.
The only thing I know about syncing is syncing my iPhone to my MacBook Pro. I apologize that I am so technically stupid. Does mail have syncing???
Thank you even if I never figure out how to get back to this site again.

  • Unified Junk Folder dont show Yahoo Bulk Mail even when manually added

I have set View-Folders to Unified. This shows single Junk folder with Accounts name as its sub-folders.
The Left side pane listing is somewhat like this:
    Junk
    - GMAccount1
    - GMAccount2
    All accounts are IMAP accounts.
I also have Yahoo IMAP account where Junk folder is named as Bulk Mail.
By default thunderbird does not consider it as Junk folder so what I do is:
    1) Right click on top-level unified junk folder and go to properties
    2) Under "Select the folders to search" I manually add Yahoo accounts Bulk Mail folder.
After adding I expect that, the left hand side listing would become:
    Junk
    - GMAccount1
    - GMAccount2
    - YahooAccountName
But it does not show YahooAccount as a subfolder. (Even after restarting thunderbird)
But surprisingly, when I click on top level unified junk folder, then it shows the e-mails in "Bulk Mail" in the right hand side pane.
Which means there is a minor display bug which does not display the folders included in Unified folder.
Please let me know if there is right solution or please correct the bug.
    Thank you.

    I found a solution:
    Goto YahooAccount's properties
    Junk Settings
    Under Destination and Retention
Check Move new junk messages to:
    Other: Bulk mail on YahooAccount
    Restart thunderbird
This way thunderbird knows this is junk folder and then starts displaying it under "Unified Junk" folder.
This solve the problem but I suppose this should not be needed.
Any account mentioned in "Select the folders to search" (in properties of unified folder - as mentioned above), should be displayed under that "unified folder"

  • Why now in or new iMac there is a folder for bulk mail from yahoo? What it's  "bulk mail"

How to erase yahoo bulk mail folder and why you need one?

I talked to my service provider and he told me this:
When the apple mail program sets up automatically it does so with imap and not pop 3. In doing so it creates that bulk mail add on.
I don't know why but I think it is an Apple issue.
I simply just don't use the apple mail program and downloaded thunderbird instead.
Maybe someone who has apple support can contact therm and find out what is going on.

  • Bulk Mail folder

I have just been migrated to BT Mail. Is it possible to delete the (Yahoo) Bulk Mail folder now that my spam goes to the new BT Spam folder? What is the Y Conversation folder? I have not noticed it before.

Have you set up the account on your smartphone email app as IMAP? If so then you should be able to sync with the Spam folder just like the Inbox and all the other folders on the server. Whether or not the app auto-syncs at regular time intervals and you get notifications for new messages may well depend on the particular settings your app has for the account. You can usually choose to change such things on a folder by folder basis through the app settings, though it might depend on which app you are using.
Unless I'm mistaken my Android smartphone email app (K-9) notifies me when any new messages arrive, including Spam.
The standard five server folders for your account are Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam, Trash. You can add other personal server folders if you wish to, the simple way being through the webmail interface. If you add/remove personal server folders you might need to manually refresh the folder list on the app.

  • Cannot move junk email to Bulk Mail folder in Yahoo, greyed out

I've searched but so far no luck.  Ever since I added my two Yahoo email accounts on my iPhone 4, I cannot seem to send junk email from my inbox to my Bulk Mail folder, it is greyed out.  First off, I've confirmed that the Bulk Mail folder on my iPhone is the same as my Spam folder in Yahoo mail on the desktop.  I can see the same emails in both folders.  Anyone have the same experience and found a way to correct this, or is this just a Yahoo limitation?

I am having the same problem, but I'm not very clear on how to follow the steps.
    went to my yahoo account in IOS;
    hit edit, hit "new mailbox" at the bottom right corner of the screen;
    entered a name;
    below that, it has "Mailbox Location", I opened it;
it list all my personal folders, I am stuck here.
How do I "point the mailbox location to the Bulk Mail folder", as instructed? Am I missing a step?
This is for iPhone 4S, with the latest released version. Thank you!

  • Why "Bulk Mail" foder does not display number of unread messages unless I click the folder (Yahoo mail through IMAP)?

Yahoo mail account's "Spam" folder (as viewed through "Yahoo mail" web interface) is displayed in Thunderbird as "Bulk Mail" (IMAP). Looking at the account's foders in Thunderbird I see the number of unread messages in each folder. "Bulk Mail" appears always to be empty. If I click the "Bulk Mail" folder, then magically messages appear in message list, and the number of unread messages is displayed next to folder name, like in all other folders of this account.
Why I need to touch the "Bulk Mail" folder in order to see the number of messages in it?
Yahoo deletes messages from this folder at certain periods. I'm in danger of loosing messages unless I remember to touch all of my Yahoo account's Bulk Mail folders in Thunderbird.
How I can get "Bulk Mail" folder to show the number of unread messages like all other folders of the same account do?
    Thunderbird 24.6.0, Windows 7 Enterprise (Sp1)
    pekka

I don't use IMAP in Thunderbird, so I can't provide step-by-step instructions, however, other e-mail programs have settings for whether or not to synchronize each individual folder on a schedule or using push IMAP (vs when clicked). If Thunderbird has those settings, I would expect them to appear in the folder properties or account settings. Perhaps this will be helpful, but I don't know if you've already done some digging like this or not.
FYI, a quick search brought me to this page:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-folders
One item listed in that page is this:
Configure IMAP folders, connections and namespaces
    Menu location: Tools | Account Settings | <account name> | Server Settings | Advanced
Perhaps that would be a good place to start since it does mention IMAP folder connections, but folder properties still might be an easier place to peek first, just in case. For that, the site lists this:
Configure folder properties (IMAP folders only)
Menu location: Edit | Folder Properties | General Information
However, I think you could right-click on the "Bulk Mail" folder and hit properties in the pop-up menu.

  • Does yahoo push not work for bulk mail folder?

I don't seem to be having any problems with yahoo push in my Inbox, but it doesn't seem to be working for my bulk mail. I have to actually go into my bulk mail folder for it to update. Is this normal? Thanks!

That is normal activity. Works the exact same way on tests phones we have set up. Bulk/junk mail is not something that all would like getting pushed through.

  • HT3376 I have a Yahoo plus account. When I set up the mail account the Bulk Mail (Trash), Deleted Messages,Draft,Drafts,Junk, and Sent Folders all appear on my iPhone. Is there a way to prevent this?

I have a Yahoo Account. When I set up the mail account the  Bulk Mail, Deleted Messages, Draft, Drafts, Junk, Sent, and Sent Messages appear on all of my iPhones, my PC, my Macbook and any other wifi product that receives mail. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of these duplicate mailbox folders??

  • Is there a way that bulk mail won't pop up in notification center?

So I have a yahoo! email attached to my Mac Mail and all junk mail/spam gets filtered into a "bulk mail" folder that I just delete every few days. I like notification center showing me popups when I receive new mail but it also shows me notifications for these bulk mails so in the top corner of my screen I'll see "FREE PERSCRIPTION MEDICATIONS" and whatnot. These emails don't count towards "new unread mail" as I don't get the little number over the icon that I have unread mail when I get these. So is there a way to change the settings so that these don't have pop-up notifications? Presently i just turned off the notifications for all email so I don't have to hear about enlargement pills, but if there was a way to just remove these that would be fantastic.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes, this is very awkward.
There is some setting that lets us receive notifications only for messages coming into the Inbox. That may work for you, Monica, try it out:
    Mail>Preferences>General>New Message Notifications>Inbox Only.
But this solution won't work for me, because I have rules set to direct incoming messages into multiple folders, so a lot of my important mail ends up in places other than Inbox. I would need an "Except Bulk and Junk" option, and sadly enough, it isn't there.
And this question was not answered / commented since the first week of August?.. Hmm..

  • Can't delete bulk mail message because can't see end of error message

My problem started trying to send bulk mail. I received the message "cannot send message using the server outgoing..... The server “outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net” did not recognize the following recipients:"
The problem is it is showing all the addresses I put in which doesn't end at the bottom of the screen. I guess at the end of the box, there must be some kind of choice I can click, but I just can't see it. I tried changing the screen resolution but still can't see the end of the message. I have to Force Quit to get out of Mail. How can I delete this message?

I am having exactly the same problem as I run a rugby club and am trying to sent to circa 500 people. However I get exactly the same problem you have described. The only way I have found of getting rid of the offending message is to quit\force quit mail and then relaunching. If it tries to send again I turn off AIrport and this puts the message into the outbox from where you can delete it.
Some ISP's in th UK limit how may recipients you can send a mail to to stop bulk mailers but the mac servers will sometimes let you send to in excess of 60.
I'll try and let you know if I find a way around this.

  • Bulk mail, bulk mail, and more bulk mail

I cannot understand this. I have five or six assorted mail accounts that all feed into my Apple Mail. The spam mostly gets filtered out -- by Yahoo or Google-- before I see it.  My husband has only one Yahoo account and one Mail account, which has the same preferences set as mine.  He gets more than four hundred "Bulk Mail" messages every day. The number of new messages and the number of bulk messages is usually the same.   He uses OS 10.6 on a Macbook which I used previously -- without this problem.
Any suggestions as to what I/he should do? Can I just delete the Bulk folder? I have checked and recheched the Yahoo settings; the bulk stuff doesn't show there?
    TIA

Yahoo has a blacklist of servers which send out spam.
There are individuals that feel at least some on the blacklist are on it unfairly.
Yahoo routes all of the e-mail from its blacklist to the Yahoo "Spam" folder (along with all of the other spam e-mail).
There are e-mail clients that attempt to address the above issue by selecting the e-mail in Yahoo's "Spam" folder that is there because it is blacklisted and putting it in a different folder commonly named "Bulk Mail".
These "Bulk Mail" folders are often baked into the e-mail client and may be difficult to modify.
