Adobe Flash Player 10, when installed, closes the whole computer when it is used to play any clip from U Tube or other source. I uninstalled it and there was no further trouble but, of course, I cannot view the clip. If I reinstall it the same problem persists. I have contacted my 'computer guru' but his comment is that many of his clients have the same problem but it appears to be a problem with Adobe however many other friends have put in the version 10 Flash Player and have no problems. I do not appear to have any other problems with the computer such as viruses etc and it is scanned very day for such items. I would appreciate any advice you can give as it is very annoying, thanks, RAB
Me too!
On both IE8 and Firefox. Win 7 32 bit on IBM T42 - 1GB ram.
Old laptop I know but the 10.1.x.x Flash Players worked just fine. Problem started with 10.2.152.26 flash player.
Now BBC TV live and iPlayer work just fine, however YouTube does not - audio but no video. Just a black rectangle where the video should be.
Right click to get the menu and "settings" is greyed out. However select the pop-out option and the video plays. Right click on the pop-out and "settings" is available. So deselect "enable hardware acceleration", close the pop-out and refresh the window (F5) and now YouTube videos play. Switch hardware acceleration back on and now they don't.
This video works fine with hardware acceleration enabled. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/features/video/h264/
These also work. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/stagevideo.html
Something broken in 10.2, I think. -

I can't access most internet pages because I don't have adobe flash player for my powerbook and the download doesn't seem to work?
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to FP requireing an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I fould a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

Tyring to load adobe flash player, where do I find the "edit options key"
I need adobe flash player for a web page. the instructions say I need to add it to the firefox accepted list. I need to press the "edit options" key to get too that list. where do I find that key?
The instructions on the Adobe page about "edit options", etc. are out-of-date and incorrect.
<u>'''Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox'''</u>: your ver. N/A; current ver. 10.0 r45
See: '''[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+plugin#Updating_Flash Updating Flash]'''
-download and <u>'''SAVE to your hard drive'''</u> (save to Desktop for easy access)
-exit Firefox (File > Exit)
-double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install it
-when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
*<u>'''NOTE: On Vista and Windows 7'''</u> you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). See this: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm
*'''<u>NOTE for IE:</u>''' Firefox and most other browsers use a Plugin. IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash. To install the IE ActiveX Adobe Flash Player, same instructions as above, except use IE to download the ActiveX Flash installer. -
In eBay, I was trying to upload pictures when I got this message: "You need the latest version of Adobe Flash Player to use the standard picture uploader.
Download and install the latest version from Adobe before continuing."
In YouTube, when trying to watch a video, I got this message: "You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video."
I have gone through the procedure for downloading and installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, but still get the same messages when I reopen Firefox and revisit these sites.
There does not seem to be the same problem with Safari, which runs the latest version of Adobe Flash Player with no trouble.
I am using an iMac running Mac OS X Version 10.6.7.You can find the latest Flash player for Firefox on this page.
For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.

In an attempt to create a photobook with a Groupon I purchased, I need to have Adobe Flash Player 11.3. When I click 'Get Started' on the Picaboo website then 'Yes' to 'This content requires Adobe Flash Player 11.3. Would you like to download?' it then states at the bottom left that 'Canceled Openin the Page' and I can't find if its downloaded. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
SOLUTION:
Needed to update the Operating System that I was on - computer is only a 2008, but that means way outdated. They don't sell it in the Apple stores, you have to call to order it and it's less then $30 with delivery. -
Adobe Flash Player : Are there issues for the Mac?
Should I install Adobe Flash Player on my iMac?
Are there benefits and or issues that I should be aware of?Providing you only download it from Adobe you should be fine - although there are security concerns relating to Flash from time to time. When they become known OS X's inbuilt X Protect will disable it until a new updated 'safe' version is available. Adobe also update it fairly regularly, so if you do install it set its preferences to allow for updates.
As to whether you need it, only you can decide. It adds functionality to web-browsing so without it you may encounter websites that don;t display all their content.
Many users live without it or install it, but also install a Safari (if that;s the browser you use) extension called Click to Flash which disables Flash content, only displaying it if you choose to by clicking on the placeholder.
An alternative is to use Google Chrome which has its own version of Flash built-in. In that case you don't need a separate install of Flash. However, the downside is you have Google looking over your shoulder . -
how do you install the latest version of adobe flash player into my Mac air computer if the program will not accept the password that works to log me into the adobe web site? What password does the program require?
Hi lesliea29210530,
This is an OS (Apple) prompt, not a Flash Player prompt. Please see What userid & password do I need to install Flash Player?

What Adobe Flash Player Do I Download to the iPhone?
When I go to certain websites using safari on my iPhone, it directs me to download the Adobe Flash Player. There are two options for Mac OS X. I can either use Option 1: Intel Based Macs or Option 2: PowerPc Based Macs. Is this even right? Do I need a flash player? Is Mac OS X the same as Safari. I'm not familiar with Apple/Macs operating systems. Please enlighted me! Thanks.

Dear all,
I m using captivate for doing my eDemo, however I am just be
alerted by Adobe Flash Player Security and be requested to update
the Internet>Settings of the browser. As I found that some
companies most likely are using Captivate for their web application
demonstration (like HSBC,
HSBC),
but they dont have any Adobe Flash Player Security prompted. Would
anyone know how to remove or skip the alert? Thanks for your help!

these warnings? -
When I start FF, a small box comes up in the upper middle of the screen - it is from Flash Player and it has two selections: allow and deny. With this flash player box, the upper third of the screen is grayed out. It will not allow use of most visited, bookmarks, or anything that is to be initiated at the top of the page. Even if I start a program, I cannot use the upper controls for that program. This is the second day that it has been blocking my use of FF. Note: I also use Seamonkey, but it has not been affected by the flash player problem. I have re-installed flash player, re-booted, restarted FF, and no changes have come about. I am still blocked from using FF. In fact, I am using this support page on Seamonkey.
this sounds really strange, could you attach a screenshot of the issue?
another thing you can try to troubleshoot the issue is a clean reinstall: remove firefox from the windows control panel & chose to remove all personal data in the uninstaller. afterwards manually check if the firefox program folder got deleted (it's usually in ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox'') and else remove it manually. then download & install a fresh copy at getfirefox.com
if this doesn't work either please do a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner], [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx microsoft safety scanner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan]. -
The screen comes up and says Flash Player 5.0 has stopped do you wish to close?
Flash Player 5 was released in August 2000. Are you sure that's accurate? You're missing about 15 years of fixes and features.
To give you any useful advice, I'm going to need to know more about your computer and browser:
