Yosemite 10.10.1 Update - Can no longer connect to Windows Remote Desktop

I use Mac's VPN to create a PPTP VPN connection to our Windows Server at work. I access the Server using the Microsoft Remote Desktop App from the App Store (v 8.0.10). After upgrading to Yosemite, I could get the VPN to connect but could not get the Microsoft App to connect to the Server. I fixed this problem by deleting the VPN Connection and setting it up new from scratch. It worked fine until the 10.10.1 upgrade. Now it no longer works and my previous fix does not work. I also noticed that I totally lose internet connectivity when the VPN is connected - Safari and Outlook Windows app show no internet connection.
Microsoft App error is :
Unable to connect to remote PC. Please provide the fully-qualified name or the IP address of the remote PC, and then try again.
Please help this has broken with both Yosemite updates and now I am up a creek and unable to work remotely.

I've only one hint to you, cause I've mot on Mac-Server.
With 10.7 Apple have switched from Samba (maybe due to licence problems with GPL based stuff) to a own protocol called "XSMB"
This had caused problems with some NAS systems too.
Eventually someone have a glue to solve that, as several users have problems with SMB shares since that.

Apple TV could no longer connect to Windows 7 PC home computer.
This happened after several Windows updates and Mcafee updates.
After reviewing the web for people with the same problem, I found that you can get your Apple TV back the way it was by:
1. Remove Mcafee and install Microsoft Security Essentials (free from the Microsoft website), then
2. Start the Windows Firewall from the Control Panel, then
3. Click on the left pane click on "Allow a program or feature through the Windows firewall", then on the new window
4. Click "Change Settings", click Yes to the pop up window, and
5. Select both Bonjour Services one at a time, and check the box that says "Home/Work(private)" network. Click OK at the bottom and you are done!
I was thrilled when I got my Apple TV back to normal.

Can no longer connect to Windows XP Home Network

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and just noticed I can not longer connect to my Windows XP Home Network. Besides sharing files I also print through that network, but it's not just the printer that's afftected. In "Finder" I see the Home>Office Folder but I can't connect to it. I deleted the printer and tried to re-add it but I get a message saying that the server my not exist or is unavailable.
It's been a long time since I set this all up so I don't even know where to look and/or begin.

There is a problem with connecting to a shared printer on Windows XP from Mavericks. But you should still be able to connect to a shared folder, although my testing was with Windows XP Pro, not Home. One thing you do have to ensure is that the Windows user account has a password. You cannot connect to a shared folder on WinXP if the Windows account has no password.

Just did the 2.1 SW update, can no longer connect to Exchange Mail Srvr

Just Updated to the 2.1 iPhone SW. Now can not connect to my email account on Exchange Server 2007 which I had no problem with prior to the SW update.
Can not send or receive email and all email previously in account on iPhone is now GONE!
After SW Update phone threw off message that it was now activated. Then got a notice about email not recognizing certificate came up when I tried to access my email account on the Exchange Server.
When I try to get or send email get message Cannot get Mail, the connection to the server failed.
What do I need to do?

I had similar odd actions, such as the iPhone Activated message. Now, cannot do anything with the exchange account. Cannot delete it, turn it off, get to account info screen. Each time it freezes in transition requiring either home screen button or shutting down.

Can no longer connect to Extreme remotely

Also therefore cannot connect to my usb hard drive.
I am on dsl.
It worked just fine for about 10 days, then could no longer see the Extreme (or usb drive) from a remote location. Unplugging the Extreme and plugging back in fixed the problem for a few days, then it returned and unplugging did not fix the problem. (I intially set up with a guest network but had to use the NAT & DHCP to see the usb drive). Blinking amber light.
I tried re-setting up the network from scratch using bridge mode. Steady green light, but it does not matter, still no remote connection.
Everything shows up fine when I am connected to my own network but I see nothing when working remotely. Extreme works perfectly with computers, Apple TV, printer when connected to my own network.
I've read documentation, forums, etc. What am I doing wrong? Is there some setting I've overlooked?

Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

58" Cloud TV...can no longer connect to Windows computer via MediaShare

Have a Dell all in one and 58" Toshiba Cloud TV. Love the TV, but have had nothing but trouble with the MediaShare function. Sometimes it finds the computer on my network, sometimes not. I have the same problem after loading OS X 10.10 Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (Late 2008). Wi-Fi (Time Capsule) connects OK, then I open Safari and it waits for a minute and then gives me a message that it can't load the page because I'm not connected to the Internet. The Wi-Fi is fine. When I run the network analysis, it shows that everything is fine up to the Internet; the dots are red after that. I have another MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) and it loaded and runs with no known problems (so far). I am writing this message on the Late 2008 MacBook Pro, so you can see that there is no problem with the Internet connection. It is a Yosemite problem. My iPhone and newer MacBook Pro connect with no problem. I loaded Yosemite TWICE, then ran the Disk Utility and fixed some disk permissions but there were no other problems identified. Restarting after reloading Yosemite and the same problem is there. Restarted after running the disk utility and fixing disk permissions and it still can't connect to the Internet. Same problem. Does anyone have an idea how this might be fixed? What's going on? Thanks for your help.

Webex can no longer connect to meetings after upgrading to Yosemite.

I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 and found thereafter that Webex, which is a screen share application used for online meetings, can no longer connect to Webex services using the most current versions of Safari, FireFox and Chrome. Java scripts are enabled, pop ups allowed on all browser and yet the problem persists. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

There was nothing that I did to make it work--it just started working again in Safari. However, it takes a few minutes after I click on Login and then the meeting comes up in another window behind the one I logged in on. I just tried it in Firefox and it now works there; still does not work in Chrome. All three browsers still have the following message in a black banner at the top: "Your browser version is not supported for use with WebEx and may not provide an optimal experience.To view browsers that support the best WebEx experience, go here." One thing I did do that may have enabled it to work in Firefox was to remove Silverlight, which is a Windows app and I'm not even sure how it got on my computer. I was told that it has a similar plug-in as the WebEx plug-in. I'm still searching for answers.

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.

Since the new Mevericks update my Air can no longer connect to a shared Itunes lib on Macbook Pro

Hi,
I have two mac laptops at home. My pro and my air. I have it setup so that I stream all my media from my pro to my air.
I updated my pro to the newest Mavericks version. Since that update I can no longer connect to my library on my pro via my air.
Please note that this problem here is with the mac book pro! I updated my air last night and i could still stream.
All I get is the usual "loading library" (on my air's itunes) but it never connects.
Other than restarting the application (on both computers) and restarting (both computers) what else can I do?
Are other people having the same problem??

Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately I cannot get any of the OS X browsers I have tried to get beyond the accepting the site's certificate. All just stall waiting on the Outlook Web Access site. Safari 3.1, Camino, Flock, Firefox (2.0.0.12 and 3 beta 4), Netscape (7.1 and 9), Microsoft's Internet Explorer (thinking that might be more integrated with its Outlook Web Access package).
I have even deleted the certificates from my Keychain (for Safari) or within the other browsers' preferences.
Last night I even re-applied the 10.4.11 combo updater and then checked for software updates to confirm my system was up to date, but again without success when attempting to reach the Outlook Web Access site.

Unknown error -3212. I updated to iTunes 11.4. I can no longer connect to the Store.

I updated to iTunes 11.4 when prompted. I can no longer connect to the Store. Tried all troubleshooting, checked Firewall, and my internet connection is fine. I re-downloaded iTunes and selected the "repair" radio button. Still has not resolved "unknown error occurred (-3212)". Does anyone have any other suggestions?

It sounds like you have checked your firewall settings, and your internet connection but cannot get to the iTunes Store with your iTunes application and you get this error number 3212. I would look over the troubleshooting in the following article to see what steps have yet to be done. Infact I would recommend doing the troubleshooting sequentially from top to bottom.

Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty. Updated to iOS 7.1.2 - Can no longer connect to WiFi

There is clearly a bug introduced after updating to iOS 7.1.2 and I inadvertently repeated this mistake on two iPhones (5 and 4S).
Immediately after updating to the latest iOS, I was experiencing sporadic WiFi drop outs, especially for short time immediately after taking the phone out of standby.
Then I attempted someone's 'brilliant' suggestion of selecting "Forget Network" and then adding it back in. THAT was a huge mistake because after doing that and reconnecting to my WiFi network, everything seemed fine until I woke the phone (iPhone 5) from its next standby. Since then, I can no longer connect to my WiFi network. In fact, no WiFi networks in my vicinity appear! In order words, I am now completely reliant on my limited data plan!
To make matters worse, because of this screw up, my cell data plan exceeded my 3 GB usage and I had to pay $60 in overage for July! I am not happy!
This is made even more outrageous considering that Apple hasn't acknowledge this issue!
BTW, I have tried and wasted a LOT of time trying each of these so-called Apple remedies:

Solution: It's the WiFi on my router that is at fault?

I never made any claim as to the number of people affected. Besides, even if only 50 people posted messages to this forum, the number of people who do not participate in the Apple forum far outnumber the people who do.
