You know ill never understand Verizon

Over the lst few months i have been reading things online about users worried verizion may axe thier unlimted data plan for *using to much* also other users blaming users who use 50+ GB of data a month for why they are no longer offering unlimted data plans.
Plain and simple verizion is money hungry yes i said it take for example me they recently forced a update on my phone which broke a number of mobile hotspot apps which i used but very infrequently only when traveling aka 2-3times a year for a few days, now they want me to pay 30$ more to use the data i am already paying for to continue what ive been able to do for 3+ years, Not to mention it is illegal for them to block me from doing so per the FCC ruleing. they want me to pay twice to use the same data regardless of what you may think if i am tethering i am still using only one device per the ToS.
Currently i use an average of 25 gig a month purely streaming movies because i travel ALOT ((100,000 miles a year via roads)) every time i call and want to get my bill lowerd first thing they look at and offer is the shared data plan, So verizion wants me to PAY MORE FOR LESS how dose that make sense? Why is it T-Mobile can offer unlimted EVERYTHING for 60$ a month yet im stuck paying verizion 100$ a month for limited calls text and unlimited data? one word GREED.
Ive heard of users using upwards of over 50 TB in a single month mobile data, while i am stuck in my contract untill september i will be striving to reach that amount now with my data usage as unlimted only way verizion can stop me is to revoke my contract which i would welcome with open arms.
Now that all that is said dont get me wrong i love the service at verizion but every day they make me want to be a customer less and less,
First they remove the ability to upgrade your phone at a discounted price effectivly making unlimted data users third country customers, second they forced aupdate on me which i did not want since it ruined my phone i now have to look into Rooting my phone because thier tech support is unable to roll my phone back to a working version, third they charge 100% more then other companys for less ((how dose this make sense?????)) plain and simple verizion has lost me as a customer once my contract is up i will be going to another company paying less and getting much better and more service.
its been fun but since Verizon ***** on 6+ year customers i guess it is to be expected

The so-called open access rules state that licensees offering service on C Block of 700 MHz spectrum "shall not deny, limit, or restrict the ability of their customers to use the devices and applications of their choice on the licensee's C Block network."
AkA they may not block an application from working regardless of my data package. i dont get how you can see charging twice for the exact same data is a fair and moral practice.

  • Did you know that the  carrier Verizon offer the merge conference call or internet while on call on the iphone? Only AT

Did you know that you can't use the merge function on a iPhone 4s with Verizon Wireless? They blocked the function only AT&T has it, also Verizon doesn't allow browsing the Internet while on a call like AT&T, huge mistake Verizon. For people that conference call, don't get tricked into changing carriers until Verizon changes this feature.

Not sure about the merging of calls, but being able to browse the internet while on a call can't be done with CDMA technology -- so it's not that Verizon doesn't allow it, it just can't be done on their network. This is old news ...

  • Do you know how to.........

when i moved my music on to my imac i did it in two parts woth where 20gig or so the first load i forgot to get itunes to automatically copy and store so its in its own music folder. the second part i did remember and it put it all neatly in to it own itunes music folder. this was ok but recentally i spent 4 days cleaning out my itunes of all the rubbish songs and renaming the unnamed songs. thoses files i got rid of that itunes had copied were deleted off the computer (good thing) but the ones in the music folder wernt this is now a problem as i deleted 8 gigs of random songs that are now sat somewhere in the music folder clogging up myspace. is there any way to get itunes to transport ALL songs in its libary to its own folder? if i could do this i could just delete the music folder and i would have an extra 8gig free. if i can do this what would happen to the files that in the music folder where called unknown but in itunes i had renamed? would i loose all my hard work?

When you post can you put in a few sentences and not one huge long rambling one? This is very hard to read and understand.
I think I know the problem. The easiest way to fix what you have which seems to be - some songs are in the music folder (or more than one folder possibly) and not in iTunes and you want to get rid of the song files, and some might be in iTunes but they are gone from the music folder so eventually if you select them in iTunes you will get the missing song message.
Drag all your songs again from the folder into iTunes. Copy all the song files into one folder - essentially consolidate them all into one location even from multiple folders.
Go into iTunes and delete everything in the music view, all artists, all genres all albums.
Send to trash when it asks, and don't empty the trash.
Now from the one big folder with all the music in it - if you can, first root through and delete stuff you know should never go back to iTunes. If it is all jumbled up then don't.
Drag the whole new, big, consolidated folder to iTunes to start importing all of them.
Make sure they are all in properly and then using the proper method of deleting go through and delete, selecting send to trash all the losers that you want gone , from iTunes and the Mac.
With iTunes properly set to make its own music folder and organize it you will have one proper iTunes library with the songs you want - the source giant folder can be trashed as can the trash from before be trashed.

  • How do you get a RESPONSE from Verizon?

How does one get a response from Verizon?  Here's my situation...
Given the amount of trouble that I have had with a recent order, you would think that I was trying to land a 747 jet on my roof.  In reality, all I was aiming to do was to cancel the $19.99 per month phone service that I never used.  I do not even own a phone, for that matter.  I also had enhanced high speed Internet, and I wanted to retain the high speed Internet.  A few days before January 13, 2012, I called Verizon and spoke to the 1st sales representative, who ensured me that it was no problem to cancel the phone service and yet retain the high speed Internet for the same monthly price.  24 hours later, my high speed DSL service was no longer functioning.  I will try to briefly explain the disastrous customer service that ensued.
The first several phone calls to Verizon were not productive as I was transferred to the wrong department, and then at least one of my phone calls was dropped by the Verizon server.  The representative did not call me back.  I finally got in touch with a technical support representative, the 2nd Verizon representative, who informed me that the high speed Internet had been turned off and that I had to speak to a sales representative to solve the issue.  Another sales representative, the 3rd Verizon representative, informed me that the 1st representative had cancelled my phone line, and thus cancelled all of my services.  Great.  The 3rd representative informed me that he was absolutely capable of handling the problem and that he would simply add a new order for high speed Internet, which was to be activated the next morning.  The next morning came and went, and guess what?  No Internet.  I called again.  The 4th Verizon representative told me that everything that had been done previously was incorrect and that the sales department is not capable of making such changes.  She told me that she could not help me and that my claim had to be submitted to a different department, which has the authority to un-do all of the previous changes.  She told me that I would receive a call back the same day to resolve the issue.  Given my previous experiences with Verizon, I was confident that I would not, in fact, receive a call back and so I asked her how I could get transferred to this department, if I needed to call again.  She said that I could not be transferred.  Okay.  So then I asked her what to ask for so that next time I called, I could be transferred to the correct department without dealing with yet another sales representative who gives me yet a different story.  She informed me that she could not provide that information to customers.  The Department That Shall Not Be Named (and that I cannot contact) did not call me, and I was not surprised.  Unfortunately, I did not know how to go about contacting them, because, as I was told, customers aren’t allowed to do that.
The 6th phone call to Verizon was dropped by the Verizon server.  The 7th phone call to Verizon went to the 5th Verizon representative, a sales associate who placed us on hold for the first 15 minutes only to inform us that she could not find any record of our Internet service.  What the heck was she doing, checking her Facebook account?  She finally returns, puts us on another extended hold, and then adamantly tells us that we need to speak with technical support, which, if you recall, was the first Verizon party that I spoke at the beginning of this debacle.  The 5th  representative transfers me again to technical support.  Of course, the technical support personnel, the 6th Verizon representative said what the first one did, that the account was inactive and that we needed to talk to the sales department.  My husband was on the phone at this point because I was DONE.  When the 6th technical support representative tried to transfer him back to the sales department, my husband insisted that the 6th technical support representative remain on the line while we spoke to yet another sales representative, the 7th Verizon representative.  The 6th technical support representative patiently waited with us while we sat in yet another long queue to speak with a member of the sales department.
The 7th sale representative, from the retention department based out of New Jersey, found that all previous orders had been set up erroneously.  She cancelled the old orders and reinstated a completely new order.  The DSL began working a few days later.  MAGIC.  She then left me a voicemail message saying that she would eliminate the activation and shipping fee (duh) as I never canceled the account to begin with and as I already had the equipment.  She also applied a coupon to reduce the price to around $30 per month, assured for the next 2 years.  I was relieved.
You can imagine our frustration then when we received the bill for $79 on February 6, 2012, which included a much higher monthly rate (around $45) and the shipping and activation fee of $19.99 that we were assured we would not pay. Again, nothing was shipped to us because we already had the equipment.
Our next phone call to Verizon landed us with a guy, the 8th Verizon representative, who had no intention of helping us.  According to him, there was no record of these wrongs, and despite the fact that we had an old account number and three order numbers that were screwed up, he did not deem that there was enough evidence to change our monthly bill.  (Unfortunately, the 7th Verizon representative did not make notes or appropriately document the situation on the new account.)  The 8th Verizon representative then had the audacity to comment that we could be lying to him, yet he was unwilling to view the evidence that we could have presented.  Instead, he suggested that we call tech support again and try to go through the same process to get connected to the mysterious “retention department” which he knew nothing about.
At this point, I was beyond fed up.  The attitude of the 8th Verizon representative put me over the edge.  I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with an abbreviated version of this story.  I did not file the complaint to get back at Verizon.  Instead, I filed the complaint because I knew that another phone call to Verizon would be useless.  I’ve been dealing with this issue for over a month, and I’m sick of it.  I have better things to do with my time, believe it or not, and this situation has resulted in a significantly waste of my time over what, in my opinion, was a very simple issue to resolve.
The BBB processed the complaint and I was contacted last Friday afternoon by a Verizon representative (the 9th) who said that she was looking into the matter and that she would respond to me within two to three business days.  Well, it’s almost the end of the week, and I have received no response.  Again, after all of this, how could I be surprised?
I have been a Verizon customer, wireless and residential, for as long as I can remember, but I am reaching the point of outrage.  This situation is truly unacceptable.
You would think that, in 2012, with all of the technology available to us and the fact that Verizon is a COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY, that at least Verizon employees would be able to make a basic change to an existing order and that at least one out of 9 Verizon representatives would be able to solve this issue in a span of over four weeks.  Think again.
How does one get a response from Verizon?

Yes, it indeed boggles the mind.  I'm of course referring to the fact that your post concerns Verizon Wireless products and services.  This forum is dedicated exclusively to Verizon Communications services.   As you probably know, Verizon Wireless and Verizon Communications operate as separate companies.
If you need help for a Verizon wireless product or service, it's best to direct questions to the Verizon Wireless forums.  You can reach them by clicking on "Wireless" (either here or at the top of the page).

  • After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all my music (Cds that I had downloaded into itunes) except the once I had purchased from the itunes store. Can anyone help? Do you know what might have happened?

After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all the music that I had downloaded from my Cds. It was a lot of music! All I still have is the music that I had purchased in the itunes store. And before you asked. No, I did not have a backup. Never got around to do it.
Does anyone of you have an idea if and how I can maybe get my music back?
Your help is very much appreciated. Would it help if I recover my computer from an earlier date?? I am not even sure if I make sense here.

Hi - I seem to have a similar problem. I was prompted to update to iPhoto 11 yesterday (don't know why yesterday, I'm in iPhoto all the time). So I followed the instructions, library updated, all existing events and albums are there. I uploaded some more pictures and created a few new albums and did some new year spring cleaning, moving stuff around etc. And I started making a calendar.
I've opened it up today, my calendar is still there as are all the new events, but the pictures are empty outlines. If I open up a picture I just get the "!" but I can still see the thumbnails showing in the slider in the bottom - I don't know if that means the source files must still be there somewhere, or if it just means it captured thumbnails yesterday.
I've gone into it via "show package contents" and there just don't seem to be any masters for an upload yesterday. I also just had a look in the last import folder, because of a comment from someone above. As I scrolled down through the folder the images were there and literally disappeared in front of me - by which I mean, the thumbnails were there as I scrolled down and then would turn into empty outlines...!
All my old folders are still there, thankfully (although they're of course the ones that are also all safely back up).
Although I have a timecapsule, my photo library is too big to keep on my hard drive, so I keep it on an external drive - so it only gets backed up when I do it manually (thanks Apple for that, I will never understand why it was designed to work - or not work - that way). So if the pictures have been lost then they are gone for good which is super-frustrating (I just got back from South Korea and was in the middle of sorting out all my shots from that trip).  It seems that this can only have happened because of the update - I should have known better than to have pressed yes.
If you have any ideas, I'd be most grateful!
    Regards
    R

yep, most of 'em will-just not right out of the box. Try VideoLanClient for .mpg
maybe AdobeReader for pds files (pdf?) Never heard of pds, is that like PBS?
does it comes with a pledge break? Try NeoOffice or OpenOffice. that's all I have for tonight. I was gonna suggest Perian, but I understand that's been discontinued. Darn shame, too.--oh well.....

  • Did you know about "Arbitration and Mediation" FAQ?

I have just made a discovery that many of you frustrated Verizon customers will be very interested in knowing about. Did you know that you can type in legal action in the search verizon.com box and you will find a category called "Arbitration & Mediation" FAQ? For those of you, like myself who have been dealing with months and months of issues with Verizon and you are getting nowhere, you might check this out. It is very interesting. This may have saved me hours and hours of time and some over the top emotion that our situation has caused.

Proper names are known. But product names will not be - nor will acronyms.

Did you know that Verizonwireless is saving your checking account information when you pay your bill by check and then making it part of your "MyVerizon"  without you adding it? This means of course if they get hacked that information could be compromised. What do you think of this?

Credit card and debit card and checking and savings information is encrypted so it is possible to be hacked, but the odds are greater to get hit by the Love Boat then to have a wide scale hack.
Oh yes they do happen, Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, Target and quite a few others. But in all the years I have paid my invoice with saved card information I never been hacked.
You use good passwords and the risk is minimal.

You can change the default iCal alarm sound using these instructions.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/132412/2008/03/105icalalarm.html
It's a bit involved, but, you only have to make this change once ever and it becomes the permanent default alarm sound.

Double-clicking on an event opens the "view event" window.
Command+I (or right-click "get info") on a highlighted event opens the "edit event" window directly.

iCal has serious deficiencies (e.g. recent removal of calendar groups), but I don't believe those among them.

You seems not to understand what I mean and what I'm having like problem. I still have my payment receipt  from October of this year when I bought 9 songs in the iTunes Store from my iPhone 4S. The problem is from all the 9 songs I've paid for, only 7 are still available from this list on my iPhone. There is no possibility to download the other 2 without paying for them. I've spoke to the lady from Mississippi on the phone 2 days ago from about 2 hours calling from Belgium but unfortunately she couldn't help me. It's the 3rd time I complain about this. How many time shall I pay for the same songs?? If you can access my music list and my past receipts payment you will be able to find out what I mean. I went back on iTunes I've found the the songs I already downloaded in October that should be on my playlist but if I click on them it will charge me again 0,99 cents. It's been 3 years I've been using the same apple ID with my iPhones. I just wand to get my songs back without having to pay them twice or 3 times

    1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
    2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

I currently have a DROID RAZR M and I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract.  Since the Kitkat update, the phone won't stay charged and it's very buggy.  I know this is not Verizons fault but it's also not mine. I would like to change my phone to an iPhone 5s and keep my same plan but switch to the Edge program. Is this possible? I don't think I should have to pay an early termination fee or anything like that since my phone has become almost unusable. I know under normal circumstances you have to wait 2 yrs to upgrade but due to the update and the poor service I'm now getting I hope Verizon can make an exception. Thank you.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...
