YouTube extremely slow on iPod Touch

My iPod touch is 8GB version. I almost can't use Youtube at all because it takes at least 5 to 10 minutes to successfully load a 3-minute music video whereas in my PC, it only takes seconds. Can anyone help? I tried using it at various places and made sure the WiFi connection is perfect but still no luck.
I saw people saying that they have same problem after upgrading it to the newest software version. I'm using the newest version, the paid one. I really don't know what's going on.

I also have this problem. The YouTube application is so slow on my iPod touch it is more or less unusable. Viewing videos from the YouTube website on my Macbook Pro laptop is very fast on the same network however even very small (one or two minute) videos take up to 15 minutes to load on my iPod touch. Occasionally the video will stop loading about the third of the way through.
Hopefully this can be fixed soon in an update as it really limits the usefulness of the YouTube functionality at the moment.
Cheers,
James

  • WiFi Slow on iPod Touch 2G?

    Hello,
It's been taking a really long time to load the web pages, so I downloaded SpeedTest app, and ran a speed test on my iPod touch several times and it's extremely slow.
My Macbook Pro shows WiFi speeds of 2666Kbps, while iPod Touch is 220-300Kbps - that's quite a drop!
    That's about 30KB/s - not enough to stream a YouTube video real-time.
Is there something wrong with the iPod? Are they all this slow?
    Thanks,
    Andrey.

Gee, Comcast and only 5MB speed?? That sounds awfully low. The lowest mine ever goes, and only once in a blue moon is down to around 9. 99 times out of a hundred, it tests at over 12 MB. It's been as high as 22MB, but usually 16 is the higher speed it tests at. I live in San Jose and test to the LA server, using Speedtest.net.
I used to have speed issues with my Comcast service, but over time, it all got ironed out (new Comcast modem, new street wiring, and finally new wires were pulled between my house and the nearest little box in next door neighbor's yard). You might call them to see what's up.

  • Why iOS 5.0 is very slow in iPod touch 4G?

i have a iPod touch 4G and with iOS 5 , my iPod with iOS 5 is extremely slow !  i'am disapointed !!!!!   if you have iPod touch 4g  , dou you have this probleme?
    Thanks,
    Marc-Antoine P.

my 4g runs faster with iOS5. But then again I have turned of lots of options that I don't like or don't use .
If in doubt you can do a clean restore by wiping the complete ipod - enter DFU mode and connect to itunes, that's how I installed my iOS5.
Also it is very important to only have compatible apps installed and also to manage the settings for all the apps. In fact most iOS devices start slowing down if too many apps are running in the background, always close them properly. The ipod has only 256MB of memory, only half of what the iphone has , although the rest of the hardware is nearly identical ( except for the camera ).

  • Videos in Youtube not working for iPod touch?, Videos in Youtube not working for iPod touch?, Videos in Youtube not working for iPod touch?

Upgraded iTunes to ver.10 & verified it is current.... Updated iOS5 on iPod Touch3G & iPad-1 ~~ great, NOW the YouTube app won't PLAY videos.. Both mobile devices let me search for videos & displays a LIST of available videos... Once I touch or select a video to PLAY,  the device attempts to download the video, but after about a 2 minute TIMEOUT, I get the message "UNKNOWN ERROR"... so frustrating..  same thing happens exactly on iPad_1 or iPod Touch3G....
I have booted my Wi-Fi router by turning it OFF & ON a couple of times to reload & reboot..  Didn't HELP..   I've tinkered with the settings on iTunes, changing the 128 bit transfer, de-select PLAY MOVIES & SYNCED.. then re-selected PLAY MOVIES & SYNCED.   Nothing works..  I've searched Google, Bing, Yahoo answers, with NO definite FIX.    I've seen a lot about JAILBREAKING an iPhone, etc.   but I don't want to BREAK out of JAIL [ or UNLOCK a LOCKED phone or mobile device],  I just want to PLAY YouTube videos...  Is that so hard ? ? ? ?   H E L P ? ? ? ?

Today 11/2/11 the YouTube function on my iPod & iPad1 are working correctly again, in fact, seems to be loading videos faster on my 4G Wi-Fi connection.   APPLE must have corrected the glitch over Wi-Fi since I authorized iCloud access.   Thank you APPLE for correcting this bug which was certainly 'bugging' me...  KUDOS~!

  • How to share youtube bookmark with another iPod Touch

Can this be done? Email won't work, because it uses safari to access youtube.
    thanks

Select your bookmark. Tap the blue arrow at the right of your bookmark. Under the description, tap "Share". When your friend opens the email on his iPod Touch and taps the link you sent, the YouTube app will start and play the video.
If you are making a new bookmark, the "Share" button is right next to the "Bookmark" button.

  • Clock running slow on iPod touch

Hello all, I am experiencing an issue with my iPod touch's clock running slow. I believe I have a 2nd generation and am running OS 4. I checked to see if my PC's clock is slower but it is not. Does anyone have any ideas?

How slow? Many users have reported hours or days ahead or behind on iOS4. I have read on other posts that doing a full restore fixes the problem. Here is how:
    To do a full restore:
    - Start iTunes and plug in your device.
    - Under Devices, click on your device.
    - On the Summary page there are two buttons: 'Check for Update' and 'Restore'.
    - Click Restore.
    - The system will back up your device, then reset it to factory specs, then restore from the backup. This takes QUITE a while, depending on how much stuff you have on there.
Doing this seems to have solved the problem for me. I haven't had it randomly change the time in the 6 days since I posted my message.

  • HT2729 Vewing youtube Videos on my IPod touch

While trying to view a video on my IPod touch, the video never loads and I get "Unknown Error" on the screen.  I have never had thid problem before.  Any ideas how to fix this?

On you iPod, force close all the Apps in the multitask window.
Follow these steps to force an app to close:
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it one by one until all cleared
Now do a Soft reset of your iPod:
Hold both Home and Sleep button for around 10secs until you see the Apple logo then release. After it returns to Home screen, try your youtube and see if this resolves the issue.

  • Extreme anomaly with iPod Touch battery indicator

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3.  I never noticed a problem with the battery indicator before.  After last night, however, there seemed to be a tremendous (albeit temporary) anomaly with the battery indicator.  I googled it, but found that most fluctuations in the battery indicator were random and minor compared to what I saw.  Some were due to extreme power draw on the battery.  None of what I found matched my rather unusual circumstances.
Here are the cirumstances.  I live in a noisy apartment building, so I repeated play a noise track on the iTouch to mask out the noise from other dwellings.  The iTouch is docked onto a mini boombox, RCA's RCD175i (http://tinyurl.com/bolurw7), which charges the iTouch as it plays tracks.  I also wear earplugs at night, so I crank the RCD175i's volume to be able to hear the noise track (the iTouch's volume is set to max).  This solution is only partially effective, but that's not central to my description of the problem.
Last night, I was particularly anxious about getting rest, so I cranked the RCD175i's volume significantly more than usual.  I was shocked to find in the morning that the battery indicator showed approximately 20%, even though the charging indicator was showing.  I removed the iTouch and plugged it into the Apple white cable that connects to my laptop's USB, hoping to give it a bit of juice before I took off for the day.  Nothing much changed by the time I unplugged the iTouch to leave.  At the end of the day, however, the battery showed a full charge.
This anomaly does not fit what I found on google because:
    • The power draw was no more than usual
    • It was far greater than the fluctuations I read about
    • It doesn't happen randomly (never happened before)
    • It happened when I docked it on the RCD175i and cranked the volume
    • I have never jailbroken the iTouch
If I had to make a wild guess as to the problem, I would say that the RCD175i's docking interface is improperly designed, which messes with the RCD175i's charging calibration.  Having the volume set high might cause noise to propagate through the dock to the iTouch, maybe degrade recharging voltages/currents being fed to the iTouch, or corrupt feedback signals that control the charging (if any are used).  These are all wild guesses because I have no idea how the iTouch's charging system operates.
    I'd like to ask anyone:
    • for comments on the above speculation and/or solutions
    • for other plausible causes and/or solutions
    • whether they notice a correlation between battery indicator anomalies and docking the iTouch on 3rd party audio systems
    • whether they use the RCD175i specifically and have the same problem with high volume on the RCD175i

I'm beginning to notice a pattern.  When I plug it in to the laptop USB port or to the boombox iPod dock, the battery charge indicator shows about 20%.  I never noticed that before.  When I remove the iPod Touch from the connection, after some (yet undetermined) time, it may go back to 100%.
This seems like a recent behavioural quirk, along with another quirk that seems to have come up at around the same time.  Whenever I plug the iPod Touch into the laptop USB port, I get an autoplay window coming up, which I just banish.  However, it is strange that this has never happened before this strange turn in behaviour with the iPod Touch.

  • Will this Airport Extreme work with iPod Touch?

    Hi,
I just received an Apple iPod Touch (32gb, 3rd gen.) for Christmas.
I've always been a PC user, so I don't know much about Apple products.
I'd like to get an inexpensive wireless router to use with it.
I'd like to be able to surf the web, get e-mail, watch Hulu, and listen to
internet radio stations. I use Time-Warner broadband (Road Runner) and I have been able to do all of the above with my cabled PC.
I've been looking at: Airport Extreme Base Station M8799LL/A Model No. A1034. It looks like a flying saucer. Since Road Runner download speeds for my PC are around 2.5mps and this Airport Extreme can handle up to 54mps, is it safe to assume it will work with the iPod Touch?
If anyone has a moment and would jot down their thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it! If it won't work, and you could suggest some inexpensive wireless routers, that would be great as well!
    Thanks!

Yes. I use a similar flying saucer Airport Extreme 802.11g (54mps) base station with my 2g iPod Touch 32GB.
In theory, you should be able to use any 802.11b or 802.11g WiFi base station with the iPod Touch.

  • Why is the iPad Mini slower than iPod touch 4 at buffering video?

As mentioned in the title I have an iPad Mini that is being outperformed by my iPod touch 4. I have been using both devices on the same network and on You Tube the iPod is a lot faster at loading, Furthermore, when using BBC iPlayer I can connect with the iPod and watch whereas the iPad Mini comes up that there is insufficient bandwidth and doesn't even play.
I was convinced that the iPad Mini would be faster than my iPod which is a year older. I am really disappointed about this and have tried as many things as I can possibly think of. Is anyone else out there experiencing these problems and, if so, do you have any advice on what I can do to solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Emubob

I noticed that my iPad is far more sensitive to signal fluctuations than my MBP. The MBP would report 5 bars, but the iPad would drop the connection every 3 seconds. It turned out that the router was varying the signal, and the iPad couldn't keep a solid connection.

  • YouTube extremely slow when accessed using WiFi

I find that, in the last day or so, accessing YouTube has become painfully slow when using WiFi. It was working fine earlier in the week.
EDGE connections have faster downloads but the quality is really poor.
Anyone with similar problems? Any explanations as to what might be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Anil

Bump to this, I am also experience the same issues as well with Youtube being slow on WiFi compared to the horrific version on EDGE. I would think this to be a Router issue, but I have yet to test it out by shutting down all other applications that access the router as well as other computers that use the router.
