YSLoader and distnoted using full cpu memory resources

After syncing my iPad in a Win 8.1/iTunes 11.1.4 desktop, YSloader.exe and distnoted.exe processes remain running and using up to 90-100% of computer CPU/memory.
The only way to solve it is to manually kill the processes or, in distnoted case, rename the file in order to not load it.
This problem appeared recently, after working fine for ages.

Ive been wondering for over a year now how to fix this issue. After numerous hours of research i stumbled across an apple discussion forum about AppleMobileDeviceService and APSdaemon using an extreme amount of cpu resources and not stopping unless manually killing it. Well the solution they used was to:
1. Open command prompt (run as administrator)
2. Type netsh winsock reset and hit enter
3. It will tell you to reboot your computer, do it.
So i followed those instructions with kind of a what the **** it cant hurt attitude, and after doing that the problem of ysloader and disnoted32 hogging cpu space and having to manually close them everytime no longer exists, well for the last 48 hours anyways. If the problem pops back up I will edit this post letting you know that this was only a temporary fix, but for the time being it is working great.

  • Finder and loginwindow use 100% cpu with 10.6.8

I recently installed the patch to OS X 10.6.8 and now the finder is very unstable and uses 100% cpu and the loginwindow uses 100% cpu also.  Yes I have Parallels 6 on this machine but I already "un-checked" the "show windows applications in doc" option which is the recommended solution.  However, this did not fix the problem.  I do not know how to determine what actual process is causing this finder / loginwindow issue.  I very much appreciate if anyone has suggestion how to fix this problem.
This is on a mid-2011 MacBookPro.
    thank you.

TBauer, I had the same problem with 10.6.8 using 100% of the CPU with Parallels 6 installed.  The following steps solved this problem for me:
    0.  Take a screen shot of your Dock if you wish to remember it as currently set
    1. Launch Activity Monitor and click on the CPU column so you can see Dock using the CPU
    2.  Move   ///Users/ ...  /Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist to the trash
    3.  Click on Dock and click on Quit Process to stop the Dock
OS X will then rebuild the default Dock
    4.  Put the items back in the Dock that you want
That solved the problem for me yesterday morning.  I've launched Parallels 6 several times now and moved the machine from my work network to home and the 100% CPU problem hasn't returned.
Hope that works for you, too!
I don't think using the combo updater will solve the problem.  The problem appears to be a .plist that is generated with OS X 10.6.7 and earlier that contains icons of a larger than Apple documented size causes the CPU looping.  Rebuilding the dock.plist under OS X 10.6.8 appears to solve the problem.
Parallels has issued a knowledge bulletin saying they are looking into the problem.  On their web site they have another approach involving moving the offending icon out of the dock to solve the problem.  I like my solution better but theirs works, too.

I have two db on that box SGA target set to 1GB each and SGA max 1.75GB, so max db usage should be 3.5GB.
Yet it shows memory usage is nearly 100%, that is fine, because Linux uses free memory for caching.
Long are swap is heavily not being used, and memory is 100% that is fine. Just because OS is showing 100% does not not mean DB has taken all of that memory.
Hope I did not confuse you further.

  • Rendering from FCE using full CPU.

When I'm rendering a video off with Final Cut Express.... my CPU generally runs at 35%.... is there a way to get it to run at 100%, thus rendering faster.... or might my issue be an I/O problem with the drive to which I am rendering/reading from? Any way to find this out?

There could be all sorts of reasons for this.
How much RAM is in your Macbook? FCE will run in 1GB but really needs 2GB to run best.
What is this size of your system HD and how much free space is left on it? You probably have a 5400rpm drive to begin with, which is a little slow for video work. But a full drive will also slow down your system. Rule of thumb is keep at least 15-20% free space at all times.
There is no easy way for a user to force allocate cpu resource to an individual program.

  • Firefox constantly hangs and freezes; uses 100% CPU during the freeze.

Almost spontaneously, Firefox would freeze and become unresponsive. During this time, every Firefox window is whited-out and do not respond to any input, and the Firefox process uses up 100% CPU. All active content running at the time of the freeze, if any, continue to function as normal (Videos continue to play, web applications providing audio notifications send them as normal, although any visuals are now not visible as the browser windows are frozen. The sound continues uninterrupted, however.)
Freezing may occur at any point. Even when the user does not interact with Firefox, it may still freeze. Freezing persists with all addons and plugins disabled.
The freeze would last between a few seconds to a minute, and subsequent to the freeze, Firefox always resumes responding as if nothing had happened. While it does not result in significant losses, the freezing is extremely inconvenient and may occur as frequently as once every ten minutes.
The freezing symptom is universal across all versions of firefox between 5 and 8.0a2.

There are at least four similar topics here about this problem and I have clicked the button that I too have the problem on each and every one of them.
This is the first time in years that Firefox has given me a serious enough problem to render it unusable.

  • Intel Xserve not using full CPU

When submitting a batch to qmaster, I notice my other g5 machines utilize almost all the processor, and on the intel xserve, all 4 CPUs usually max out at 40% tops. Is this a limitation, to be expected, etc?

Things do look clean - not familiar with all of the Processes, but some of the common "culprits" do not appear. Nice job in keeping these to a minimum. Most people have 60-80 going. Maybe someone else can look down your list and find something that can be eliminated easily for NLE work. I just don't see any potential problems, but remember I do not recognize some of those.
I like the Virtual Memory setting, with only one question: you mention a partition on the RAID 0. Why a partition? The reason that I ask is that Windows first sees your 2 HDD's as one (the RAID), then it sees your partitions as several. If accessing what it now thinks are 2, or more, physical HDD's, it's telling the controller to get the heads in a couple of places at the same time. You probably have a good reason for doing it this way, but it does throw up a yellow flag to me. Having the RAID managed by the MoBo chip is not the fastest/best, but is usually more than adequate. It does save on a US$400 RAID card with multiple channels/chips.
You have provided me, and others, with food for thought. I'll keep looking over your data, but just see nothing, except for the Page File on a partition, that might affect performance.
One test that I'd run would be a slight re-config on your Scratch Disks. I'd do a Save_As, or a Save_As_a_Copy for your Project. Leave your original totally alone. Do a test with the Scratch Disks set to "Same as Project." This will put them on the RAID 0. Then, perform the same operations and monitor the time. Unfortunately, you're investing hours into this, but you might get enough of a performance increase to justify it for future Projects. One way around the time, would be to do a "test" Project with shorter versions of similar Assets. Do all processing on that Project, as configured, and time the results. Do the Save_As, make the changes to the Scratch Disks, and process again. Any difference?
Good luck, and thanks for gathering the data,
    Hunt

  • SCW Strategy - CPU/Memory Intense/problems?

I am trying to see the impact on XI Server with 3 SWC strategy.
Just brief on 3 SWC Strategy  - Source and Destination of interfaces as separate SWC and mapping is 3rd sWC for each interfaces. However to get this 3 SWC working, we need to create dependencies in SLD .
AS XI creates Java Objects on backend after you config in GUI, and having references it may impact on GC collection and as well on CPU.  So if this strategy is applied for larger projects, may cause GC to keep these SWC Objects and in turn relevant XI objects (Source, message type, mappings etc ) tied to each SWC in memory and not to flush thru GC cycles. I think this also impact on CPU Processing. I also experienced problems with migrating feature versions to production path as it requires migrating these Interface objects in correct order to load java objects properly and refresh references, and also requires bounce server to refresh objects with pointing to recent migrated Interface (java) objects. It looks complex, but trying to present on my thoughts on backend XI JVM processing. I have not seen many customers implemented this new SWC strategy also.
I thought of posting this to SDN to seek your thoughts!!

    Hi,
I admit that the usage of multiple SCW creates confusion for the new person. But Considering the Reusability & scope of several Business processes, these kind of models are necessary in complex/ large scale industries where the mutiple applications/systems integrate together.
Have you guyes referred the SCV strategies discussed here,
    /people/thorsten.nordholmsbirk/blog/2006/07/25/structuring-integration-repository-content--part-1-software-component-versions &
    /people/thorsten.nordholmsbirk/blog/2008/12/10/structuring-integration-repository-content--part-2-software-component-versions-revisited
I think the concept of Base & Canonical SCV mentioned in 2nd blog would be good approach....but of course it depends upon the scop of interface and Business Process.
Ravi had mentioned very good point about
AS XI creates Java Objects on backend after you config in GUI, and having references it may impact on GC collection and as well on CPU. So if this strategy is applied for larger projects, may cause GC to keep these SWC Objects and in turn relevant XI objects (Source, message type, mappings etc ) tied to each SWC in memory and not to flush thru GC cycles. I think this also impact on CPU Processing. I
--> Certainly I doubt if there would be major impact with referecen to GC. The model/strategy you will be setting up that's permanent model....so contineous changes are NOT excpected in it....then that will not be the correct strategy.
THe Garbage Collection will increase, if the dependecencies where changed contneously and that would affect the memory/resource utilization by server.
I think the Base/Canonical way of organizing the SCW, may help to clarify the picture and alo it won't affect much as the dependecies will not be affetced between SCWs.
    THanks

    Can I kill these processes?

    Hello,
I have a similar problem. I see 2 perl processes related to Oracle that are taking up 99% of 2 cpus. These 2 perl processes have been running for days and keeping the load average high (above 2) on a mostly idle system.

  • Do photos saved on iPhoto use up computer memory?

Do the photos I have saved in iPhoto and MyPhotoStream use up the memory on my macbook or are they all just saved online? I'm wondering because I want to delete photos on my other iOS devices after syncing all of them onto just my macbook. But I won't do this if placing all my photos on my macbook will use up computer memory.

    A few things
1 - terms - memory and disk storage are different things - no photos take up memory - sme take up disk storage - and you must always have a min of 10GB of free disk storage for the system to operate well
2- All photos saved in iPhoto use disk space - BUT MyPhotoStream photos are not saved in iPhoto unless you choose to do so - that is set in the iPhoto preferences - if you do not want to save photos on your Mac then turn of the preference to automatically import them - it you wan them saved on your Mac turn that option on and they will be imported and take disk space
3 - if you do not import the photos into iPhoto (which uses disk space)  then when you delete them from any IOS device they will be gone form all devices

Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up real fast and carries on going till it uses up all there is left. Most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff but not just neccessarily then! I find out it's happened when there's been an update after i restart and an extra webpage comes up with the particular addon/plugin/ff update. I have to restart most of time because nothing sorts it out. I'm using windows xp with the latest update of ff 13.0.1 it's not this version because it's been happening for a while. And it never started when i added a particular addon or plugin or when i added a new app to my pc either. Any idea as to what this may be or how i'd sort it out?
    Cheers
