YTD and Delivered Variables

Can anyone give their experience and advice on the below questions.
We need to see data, ie sales, regarding YTD. We want to publish these reports via Information Broadcasting. So we have to utilize exit variables that can calculate the range without user intervention.
For example, if we are dealing with Fiscal Year/Period there is 0FYTCFP (Cumulated up to current fiscal year/period). This variable denotes an interval from period 1 of the current fiscal year to the current fiscal year period.
If we use this variable, essentially all we have to do is activate this variable and include it in the query definition (filter)? Can someone verify this for me?
Another example is if we are dealing with Calendar Month then there is 0CYTCM (Cumulated up to current month). This variable denotes an interval from month 1 of the current calendar year to the current calendar month.
In this case, would you do the same as mentioned above for activating and placing in query definition?

Hi Mark,
You are correct. Once the variables have been activated, you can drag the relevant char into the query definition (filter, free chars or rows - as per reqt) and restrict them with the variable.

Hi,
Yes it can be staged in cube but you need to write routine and transformation/update rule level.
If you need for some query requirement then you may achieve the same at query level. For this you need to create some Restricted Key figures by restricting your key figure with Calyear/month as per your need.
Query level approcah will be much easier then the cube level.

How to deliver variable between jsp and EL ?

This is an example in my jsp book showing the delivering variable between JSP and EL !
how can it do that ?

EL cannot pick up scripting variables. It picks up attributes from scope only.
Similarly it doesnt set any scripting variables too.

SAP Delivered Variable "0DAT" issue

Hi Experts,
I am not able to use the SAP Delivered Variable "0DAT - Current Date" on 2 different objects. One is a standard characteristic and other one is a RKF. I am receiving an error mesaage stating that I cannot use the variable on 2 different characteristics. Can anyone please explain why is this happening?

I tried using a Custom variable i created on 2 different objects in the same query and it still says that I cannot use the custom variable. You mentioned that I may be missing some functionality in BEx? Can you please elaborate on that? I would definitely like to apply any OSS notes if available because most of my reports use the same variable on different objects like the "Key Date" variable is supposed be used on Posting Date, Billing Date, Move in Date,...

Prior Year YTD and MTD Sales Figure

I am working on a report where I need to YTD and MTD figure for current and previous year:-
I have followed following steps for current year MTD and YTD figures:-
Create 3 Date variables for Sales on Date with manual input, MTD and YTD on Date characetristics with Customer Exit input. After that I created 3 RKF where I restricted Sales value by each of these date variables.
Now my question is, Do I need to create two more variables for Prior year MTD and YTD figures with customer exit and then create two more RKF's wherein I will restrict Sales figure with respective variable.
Is that correct?

you can eighter use the -365 preset but i suggest creating 2 seerate variables to avoid problems.

Getting YTD and month same time

My source is providing that-month figures and from here, I can derive the YTD. But if I need to stage the 2 types of KFs together in the same record, how would you recommend to do it generally?

Hi Suzie,
Have you looked at the available content variables for determining both the YTD and the month figures. I think you should be able to achieve both the figures in BEx report using the standard variables available for characteristic Fiscal year/period. Give it a try

Please help me figure this out. I'm very unhappy at the moment. I'm fustrated and don't have any idea how to revert to the original version before the update was done on iMovie 10. I NEVER hated APPLE until NOW!! I love APPLE products and apps so please help me stay in that mindset. So I worked on some movie projects when I got my macbook pro 6 months ago. I update reguarly. I saw the update prompt and honestly, I did not think I would have ANY issuess with opening my previous files that I created only a few months ago with this updated version.The new updated version of iMovie 10 won't let me open my previous files I created before the update today. I have a wedding that I'm trying to finish and deliver and now I can't because that file version won't open. I keep getting an error message and the iMovie app closes. Last night I saw the file and tried to open it but no luck. Error message came up again. I reboot and turned off my laptop for the evening and tried again just now but nothing!! I need that video. My job depends on it! I worked so hard on this wedding video and now it's lost and won't open. I work another job and don't have much time. I really don't want to start all over again. I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.

Trying to pass and object variable to a method

I have yet another question. I'm trying to display my output in succession using a next button. The button works and I get what I want using test results, however what I really want to do is pass it a variable instead of using a set number.
I want to be able to pass the object variables myProduct, myOfficeSupplies, and maxNumber to method actionPerformed so they can be in-turn passed to the displayResults method which is called in the actionPerformed method. Since there is no direct call to actionPerformed because it is called within one of the built in methods, I can't tell it to receive and pass those variables. Is there a way to do it without having to pass them through the built-in methods?

Use of Return and Notify_url variables offered by PayPal

I have been integrating PayPal into my application (ASP NET MVC) where I made some analysis about PayPal (went through their documentation about the integration). Created a PayPal sandbox account and can transfer the amount.What I want to know is about the `return` and `notify_url` variables. I have enabled `auto return` in my account and also enabled `PDT`. My form variable is like this:<input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value="http://localhost:xxx/xx/Notify">
<input type="hidden" name="return" value="http://localhost:xx/xx/Return">As I have surfed in net, what they state about `Return` and `notify_url` is:> The "return" URL to which PayPal redirects buyers’ browser after they complete their payments. For example, specify a URL on your site that displays a “Thank you for your payment” page. Default is nothing is specified – PayPal redirects the browser to a PayPal webpage. Note, you must have "Auto Return" enabled in your Account Profile settings in order for this variable to work.

Yes, it's not present in the code I have posted but I have tried this as well.
It didn't work, as expected, because soap/axis is on top of http and not https and because my proxy uses http as well (or at least that's what I have learned so far).
In fact, I have tried all combinations between http.\*, https.\*, and Authenticator without success.
I think the problem is more soap/axis related. The solution for axis2 seems somewhat 'trivial' (and well explained over the web) while it's not for axis1.

P & L report for current period,YTD and previous YTD

I am trying to create a P & L report with the columns for current period,YTD and previous YTD, I have include the measures as the key of columns, which by using period or YTD we can retrieve the current period and YTD column, is there as easy way to get the previous YTD? although I can get it by using evtim to het every month and calculate the previous YTD.

Looking for an open module for managing property files and environment variables (like CLASSPATH) set in a shell script. For handeling properties (preserving comments, supporting includes, appending new entries, and more) I have looked at SuperProperties from openadaptor but find certain functionality lacking. As for interfacing with common shell scripts/files containing setting for CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, other system/application variables another type of object editor is needed. Maybe JFIG?
Any ideas are greatly welcomed.

created a console project and had an exe in 5 minutes !

Report in new page does not know of session and presentation variables

I have a question about GOURL.
I am using GOURL as a column function in one report (report A), so that when i click on that column it takes me to another report(report B) that open in new popup window.
the first report (A) also uses some session and presentation variables, which is also used by Report B as filters. I am curious that if I add these filters which are using variables to report B, why can't report B get the value of these, (it just errors out ) because it didn't found any value to those variables in the filter.
Becuase I am ending up with passing all these variables in GOURL and setting them as 'isprompted'.
Does this report (B) knows nothing else than what it finds in GOURL?

In a nutshell, if u use gourl then its parameters will be only using in navigated report. This is functionality

How to change value of instance variable and local variable at run time?

As we can change value at run time using debug mode of Eclipse. I want to do this by using a standalone prgram from where I can change the value of a variable at runtime.
Suppose I have a class, say employee like -

This is the tutorial You should interest in. According to 'name' field of the class, it's value can be change with reflection. I'm not sure if local variable ('salary') can be changed - rather not.

How to schedule and deliver a report in OBIEE 11g as an link or url to the report ?

I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.6. We have a requirement to schedule and deliver reports as a URL and not as an attachment ( as the file sizes are quite huge ). Have any one implemented such a scenario ? If so kindly share was it an out-of-tne-box solution or used web services ? Thanks in advance
