Zapfdingbats missing in JVM 1.3

I wrote an applet using Zapfdingbats font and it worked fine with JVM 1.1. Now I loaded JVM 1.3. and my applet shows hyroglyphes. I haven't changed my program.
What is wrong here?
Claude

Hi,
I have the same problem of you.
I have a font error ("Font specified in font.properties not found [-urw-itc zapfdingbats-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-sun-fontspecific]").
since, do you resolve this problem?
can you help me or do you know a person who can do it?
thanks in advance

  • Oracle Express is missing JAVA JVM

    IF I query with SELECT COUNT(*) FROM all_objects WHERE object_type LIKE 'JAVA%'; I get a count of 0.
    I see no DBMS_JAVA package.
    How can I install JAVA JVM, JServer and XDK in the Oracle Express database?
    I see no initjvm.sql, initxml.sql and xmlja.sql scripts. There are catjava.sql and catexf.sql scripts in the rdbms/admin folder.

    Well, java is not included in XE and cannot be added after the install.
    It was a quite heavily discussed issue in the beta phase but finally it was not included. You get the small footprint, though ;).

  • Report builder (9iasr2) missing jvm.dll

    i installed the infrastructure and everything was fine. i then installed the application server and still ok. finally i installed the developer suite and that was fine too, but when i try to run the reports builder i get an error about missing the jvm.dll?

    Did you install DevSuite in same machine as AS and Midtier ? I think this could be a path problem occurring because
    of multiple oracle homes in same machine.
    Search for jvm.dll in your DevSuite home using windows search utility. In a bat file in the same directory as builder set the path and call builder through that bat file.
    eg
    set PATH=$DSuiteHome\jdk\jre\bin\classic\;%PATH%
    rwbuilder
    Thanks

  • How to download Oracle JVM?

    Hi,
    Could somebody please send me a link for downloading Oracle JVM?
    I have setup Oracle Database Express Edition on my machine, but its missing the JVM. Could you point me to the documentation on setting up Oracle JVM with Oracle DB XE?
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

    Hi
    It's not possible to download and separately install OracleJVM.
    As you can read in the following document OracleJVM is not available in XE.

  • Publishing for iOS throws Java error!

    I just started working with  Air for iOS last week, and already I'm experiencing the most annoying problem that's costing me a lot of wasted development time! I got a Java error after already publishing an uncountable amount of IPA files. I tried to publish a million times and still got the error. So I got frustrated and left it alone for a few hours and I come back, and hey, it worked again... but not for long, maybe just a couple hours and I start getting the Java error again! The error is:
    Error creating files.
    Error: missing 'client' JVM at '[JRE7 folder]\bin\client\jvm.dll'.
    Please install or use the JRE or JDK that contains these missing components.
    I've tried reinstalling JRE7 multiple times in numerous ways, but still throws the error... I'll come back in a couple hours to see if it magically wants to start publishing IPA files again.
    Has anyone heard of or experienced this problem before?? I cant seem to find anything what so ever on the web about this error. And especially the fact that sometimes it actually publishes is driving me crazy!!

    Today it was working just fine for an hour or so, and now again I'm getting the java error... Adobe?? Any answers??

  • Missing SessionBeans when using SUN JVM 1.5.0.06

    Hi all,
    I am using WLS10 downloaded from the BEA website.
    I created a domain using JRockit JVM and deploy my application (serveral Entities, SLSBs and webservices) and all goes well.
    Our customers need is SUN JVM, so I created another domain using the bundled SUN JVM (1.5.0.06) and deploy exactly the same application - now some SLSB are missing, and thus the activation fails. (no errors in the log file before the activation)
    I stripped down the application to just contain the Entities, the SLSBs that deploy anyway and one of the beans that is missing. and in that bean I started to disable lines method by method until the bean deployed.
    Then I started enabling line by line until the bean did not deploy anymore.
    I am stuck at the following problem now:
    As soon as I enable a line that contains a call to one of my helper classes (POJO with just static methods using byte[], String and BigInteger) the bean is not deployed anymore - still no problem in the logs!
    The really strange is that exactly the same method of the same helper class is used in other methods that were enabled before or never disabled, and all went well!
    I just don't have any clues left what I could do.
    Anyone of you having an idea???
    thanks for your help.

    Oh I forgot to mention that I am using EJB 3.0

  • Newbie Topic - compiling errors and jvm.dll missing

    Okay, we're starting at square .1 here. I'm trying to compile the ClickMe.java in the tutorial for newbies like myself. I know how to compile from the command line, etc., but I get an 2 errors. Seems to be saying line 6, cannot resolve symbol and line 28.
    - - - - code below - - - - - -
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class ClickMe extends Applet implements MouseListener {
    private Spot spot = null;
    private static final int RADIUS = 7;
    public void init() {
    addMouseListener(this);
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    // draw a black border and a white background
    g.setColor(Color.white);
    g.fillRect(0, 0, getSize().width - 1, getSize().height - 1);
    g.setColor(Color.black);
    g.drawRect(0, 0, getSize().width - 1, getSize().height - 1);
    // draw the spot
    g.setColor(Color.red);
    if (spot != null) {
    g.fillOval(spot.x - RADIUS,
    spot.y - RADIUS,
    RADIUS * 2, RADIUS * 2);
    public void mousePressed(MouseEvent event) {
    if (spot == null) {
    spot = new Spot(RADIUS);
    spot.x = event.getX();
    spot.y = event.getY();
    repaint();
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent event) {}
    public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent event) {}
    public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent event) {}
    public void mouseExited(MouseEvent event) {}
    - - - - - - end ClickMe.java code - - - - -
    I thought maybe it was b/c the Spot was capitalized, but I changed that to l/c and that didn't help. This code is, of course, taken right off of this page:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/concepts/practical.html
    The other thing that's happening, is that when I try to run the NetBeans IDE 3.6, I get an error "Cannot load jvm.dll." I know there are jvm.dll's on this machine, but maybe they're in the wrong directory. I haven't messed with anything, just d-loaded the whole j2se SDK 1.4.1 and i'm already snafu'd. But then, I'm a newbie, so go ahead make fun. But, if you can, offer advice.
    thx in advance!

    I seem to be compiling right, b/c I was able to compile the classic HelloWorld.java ok and I can compile the spot.java file ok. I see what looks to be a valid spot.class file after I compile. If you're really bored, I could describe exactly how I'm launching the cmd.exe and how I point successfully to the javac.exe, but, newbie that I am, can we just go on faith that I'm doing that step right? And I also tried re-compiling the Spot.java file first, trashing the original ClickMe.java file so that everything was sequential. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the IDE & that jvm.dll out of whack.....
    As for the Netbeans IDE, I'm going to see if I can reinstall that separately. The whole SDK maybe didn't unpack correctly, who knows.
    But thanks for responding......

  • Connection timeout depending on how many client JVMs (but as many requests)

    Hello,
    sorry for the cryptic title, I hit the length limit.
    Here is my problem. I'm asking first for an explanation, or for ways to investigate it. Afterwards I'll need a solution but as I suspect the problem is involved, and involves several tiers, I will probably open dedicated topics instead.
    Short Story*: a web service server and 10 test client JVMs work fine - but a single test client simulating 10 virtual users experiences ConnectException.
    What can I log or probe to understand why?
    Long Story*:
    I have an application that I used to simulate load on a WebService server. The app simulates a variable number of clients of these WebServices, each virtual client running in its own thread, and sequentially calling the same set of WebServices in a fixed order, and looping.
    I have, on some occasions, met various problems with the server product (under development and validation), or the test client (that may not have had the same level of attention and quality in the design as the product), some of you may remember some of my asking here and there. But we achieved a fair level of reliability.
    However, today, after a few weeks' change to the server(1), we load-tested it using the test client simulating 10 concurrent clients. After a few minutes, we repeatedly witnessed a fair number (1% of the requests) of java.net.ConnectException "connection timed out" raised at the client's end. I immediately suspected the server to not honor connection requests timely, and went on monitoring the server's queues, listeners,etc.
    As nothing seemed to highlight a problem on this side, a colleague suggested that we instead launch 10 client JVMs (on the same single test client machine), each one simulating one single client. I blatantly qualified his suggestion of "hopeless random try" but let him try his way.
    Dang! He repeatedly demonstrated that the 10 client JVMs do not undergo the ConnectException, even though they simulate the same number of concurrent requests (well, 10 at most), at the same thoughput - and we observe the same level of server CPU, and same functional results.
    I respectfully apologized for being a pretentious moron (2), but he hasn't proposed any satisfactory explanation so far, and I'm clueless too. So we haven't been able to make the "single JVM load-test client" work. We need to make this one work, for various reasons.
    There may be some server-side tweaks (worker thread pools, waiting queues,... for the record it's a Glassfish server) that I may tune, but as the "regular" situation of 10 client VMs is handled appropriately, I deem the server-side setting are correct.
    So I'm primarily interested in monitoring the client host and JVM(s) to spot the differences between the two scenarios. But there may be some server-side indicators as well (queue size, keep-alive pool) that may help the investigations - and if need be, I will happily tune the server for the benefit of the "test client investigating".
    One track I'd like to investigate, is the way HTTP connections are reused: we're using a JAX-WS client querying a Glassfish server, and both seem to agree on using HTTP1.1 (I checked HTTP packets with tcpmon), which supposedly "reuses connections" (is that the same as "keeps TCP socket open and reuses them"?). Could it be that the 10 threads in the multi-client simulator have a bottleneck of using a shared HTTP connection(s)? I don't know how to log or monitor this:
    - I did a couple of netstat dumps during the tests on the (Windows) client test machine, and it exhibits only a few hundreds of sockets in TIME_WAIT state, and a few dozens of ESTABLISHED ones.
    - I don't have the numbers for the server, though.
    I don't know how to investigate that further. Any clues?
    I may exhibit a poor turnaround time in this thread, as the test platform is used for real tests, but I do care about the topic, so I attach shiny little dukes.
    Thank you for your time (well if you've read this to the end you at least deserve a thanks!) (3)
    J.
    (1) and after switching test platform (room & network); lesson one: "Never mix test platform changes and other changes in the same iteration; regression-test the new test platform with the former software version"
    (2) lesson two: "When you don't know, don't tell a colleague he doesn't know"
    (3) lesson three: "Short posts get better attention, are better understood, and more happily replied to"... (sigh)

    Hello ejp,
    I not only missed your points, but missed your latest post as well :o)
    I'm discovering it.
    You've missed the point. Problems that only shows up with multiple clients in the same JVM but not with multiple JVMs don't correspond to real-world situations any more than the configuration does so there is little in even investigating them, and no point whatsoever in trying to fix them.
    (...) It's not 'hopeless', but you have to be constantly aware that it can lead to false positives and false negatives.Fixing them woud enable me to continue load tests with a cheaper test platform. I cannot afford 10, 100 or 1000 client machines. I know you're talking about JVMs, but 10 or 100 client JVMs running on a single host is not a real-world situation either, no more than "all clients are on the same LAN". I have to do away with approximations, keeping aware as completely as possible of the differences it introduces.
    This is not true for HTTP connection caching: this favors the server as much as the client, so I can't infer that it's a favorable case overall.Again you've missed the point. It can only happen inside a single JVM. So it may present you with false positives.I'm still not sure I got the point now:
    -> For the server, wich are the differences between both client configurations (single-JVM vs 10 JVMs)?
    - - Does a new TCP connection request from the same JVM involve less work if one is already established?
    If not, and if each virtual client uses its own TCP connection, there is no cheating, and I don't need to worry about this level of bias.
    - - Does an HTTP request that comes over an established TCP socket require less server work than an HTTP request that reqests a new TCP socket?
    Probably (in the second case the server has to accept the TCP request and probably pool it, and assign a reader thread, etc...). So I do need to worry about this bias. One way to avoid it is to manage to have the virtual clients not using each other's HTTP connection.
    And so on...
    Is it possible to build a comprehensive list of the differences incurred by the single-JVM configuration?
    Then for each of them, I can try to evaluate ways to alleviate the bias.
    - If I managed to avoid or alleviate each and every bias, I would be back to a realistic simulation.
    - If there remained only the biases that handicap the server (such as, the server crashes under a 15 clients load, whereas in reality it could sustain 25), then I could be conservative and announce "the server will handle 15 clients gracefully" to the salespeople that will establish the SLAs. I understand that I may never be able to prove that the server actually scales up to 25 concurrent clients, but as long as the conservative SLA matches the market target that will do.
    - If I'm left with biases that do favor the server, then I can't rely on the test platform and I'll reluctantly but resignedly try to have a more realistic platform funded (the more likely outcome is to be asked to provide probabilities and disclaimers in the test reports).
    Thanks for your help so far, and please bear with my stubborn but polite request to try to identify further the differences ad causes.
    J.

  • REQD for Fresh BAM Install 11.1.1.3.0 -Data labels missing issue

    Hi
    This information is relevant to anyone who is doing upgrading to 11.1.1.3.0.
    There are 2 options if you encounter the data labels missing on the Active Studio tab :
    (1) Switch to Jrockit
    -Edit setDomainEnv.sh in directory $MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/base_domain/bin
    -Set JAVA_VENDOR variable
    JAVA_VENDOR=Oracle # For JRockit
    JAVA_VENDOR=Sun # For Sun JVM
    You'll see that JAVA_HOME should then point to "$MW_HOME/jrockit_160_17_R28.0.0-679"
    **Jrockit version packaged with the 11.1.1.3.0 install***
    -Start services
    (2) For people who want to use Sun JDK, access support.oracle.com -- look for patch 9553040
    This will provide an upgrade to JDK 1.6.0_20-b03.
    Follow the instruction in the read me file . Refer to the following notes
    - Upgrade the JDK within the Application Server $OH per the instructions in Note 272808.1
    - Upgrade the JDK within the Database $OH per the instructions in Note 418399.1

  • JVM Crash With Oracle OCI Client

    Hi
    My app is running on Windows 7 64 bit, Jboss 4.2, launched from Eclipse, and runs fine when I use the Oracle thin client (10g, 32bit). However when I try to use the OCI client, I get this:
    # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
    # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x6d906f21, pid=4740, tid=5656
    # JRE version: 6.0_21-b07
    # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (17.0-b17 interpreted mode windows-x86 )
    # Problematic frame:
    # V [jvm.dll+0x106f21]
    I'll post the contents of the log in another message because it's too long to fit here. Using the thin client is NOT an option unfortunately as the thin driver is missing some functionality that we need to use.
    I've installed the Oracle client in a folder that doesn't contain spaces, or parentheses (c:\oracle\.....) and the JDK is installed in a similar directory (c:\java\...)
    I've tried both 32bit and 64 bit versions of JDK1.6 and the Oracle 10g client. I have also tried mixed mode and interpreted mode JVM (Xint) with the same results.
    ojdbc14.jar is in my JBoss server's lib directory, and ocijdbc10.dll is in my path (c:\windows\system32).
    Anyone any ideas what's going wrong? Been trying to fix this for days now. Appreciate any help.
    Richard

    Sorted it (well, my colleague did anyway). We installed a fresh version (32 bit) JDK (6u21), the Oracle 10g (10.0.3) client (32 bit) and made sure that there were no other OCI DLLs anywhere. I had some in the JBoss bin directory which I had copied in earlier that morning and forgotten about. So, the only OCI DLLs I have now are in Oracle's installation directory. Once we removed those erroneous DLLs from the JBoss directory, the server made the connection successfully. I don't full understand why, because I was getting the error earlier without the erroneous DLLs being present too, so I think there was some additional interaction going on somewhere. One other thing that may have been important is the tnsnames.ora file I had. We found a post that said the tnsnames file generated by the installer, when it only has one entry in it, can include dodgy whitespace at the end which can cause problems. So, just to be on the safe side we added a second entry (to another DB) - maybe that was something to do with it.
    So, the Oracle 10g client and OCI driver DOES work on Windows 7 64 bit (at least for me anyway)

  • Include rt.jar class files in my own jar file to run 1.2+ applets on MS JVM

    My problem is this. I'm writing an applet (which includes 1.2 classes) for my organization (over 2000 NT workstations) in which no one has administrative privelages to install Sun's JRE 1.2 or greater. The target browser is IE 5. Our NT admins are having problems pushing the JRE out so my only two options are to rewrite everything as 1.1 or somehow include the missing class files from rt.jar.
    I really do not want to rewrite it all!
    I was able to extract the missing class files (i.e. /java/util/HashMap.class) but I cannot figure out how to get the IE JVM to use them. Things I have tried:
    1. jarred up all my class files along with the missing classes from rt.jar.
    $ jar cvf test.jar *.class java
    added manifest
    adding: ArrayObj.class(in = 731) (out= 448)(deflated 38%)
    adding: DivMonGrid.class(in = 1509) (out= 812)(deflated 46%)
    adding: GridLayout2.class(in = 2720) (out= 1514)(deflated 44%)
    adding: Item.class(in = 317) (out= 232)(deflated 26%)
    adding: Row.class(in = 588) (out= 365)(deflated 37%)
    adding: Screen.class(in = 672) (out= 416)(deflated 38%)
    adding: Site.class(in = 545) (out= 360)(deflated 33%)
    adding: divmonDash.class(in = 12506) (out= 6892)(deflated 44%)
    adding: java/(in = 0) (out= 0)(stored 0%)
    adding: java/util/(in = 0) (out= 0)(stored 0%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap.class(in = 6668) (out= 3461)(deflated 48%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$1.class(in = 931) (out= 513)(deflated 44%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$2.class(in = 800) (out= 454)(deflated 43%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$3.class(in = 1608) (out= 904)(deflated 43%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$EmptyHashIterator.class(in = 592) (out= 358)(deflated 39%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$Entry.class(in = 1505) (out= 775)(deflated 48%)
    adding: java/util/HashMap$HashIterator.class(in = 1814) (out= 1096)(deflated 39%)
    $ jar -tf test.jar
    META-INF/
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    ArrayObj.class
    DivMonGrid.class
    GridLayout2.class
    Item.class
    Row.class
    Screen.class
    Site.class
    divmonDash.class
    java/
    java/util/
    java/util/HashMap.class
    java/util/HashMap$1.class
    java/util/HashMap$2.class
    java/util/HashMap$3.class
    java/util/HashMap$EmptyHashIterator.class
    java/util/HashMap$Entry.class
    java/util/HashMap$HashIterator.class
    RESULT: IE JVM complains classnotfoundexception (its complaining about not finding HashMap.class)
    2. Tried to just place missing *.class files in same directory as my class files
    RESULT: Compiler error (complaining about file not be in correct path package) I understand this because when it was created the package statement has the class file in java/util/.
    If anyone has done this before or knows how to do it, please help me out.
    Thanks!

    When the collection classes first came out, I think they were available in a separate jar (although the package name may be slightly different). If it's just collection classes, that might be worthwhile looking at.
    The MS JVM may be spewing because the class format is too new; you may try with rt.jar classes from an older JVM (such as JDK 1.2), or try to recompile them from source using -target 1.1.

  • ID CS5.5 IDML file and missing plug-ins...need help

    I'm currently running ID CS5.5 and trying to open a CS5 file, ( I think). However, even after converting it to a IDML file extension it just hangs and forces me to shut down. The whole purpose of this is there are several plug-ins including InBooklet SE that I no longer have access to. I'm unable to find the other plugins as well but need to be able to work in this file as the original creator. Any help or suggestions?

    You can't convert to .idml by changing the file extension. You must export the file from the oringal version as a .idml file.
    That said, you can use jongware's script to identify the version of the file, even if it won't open: Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
    That said, InBooklet SE was part of InDesign CS3, but I see it listed inthe plugins used. I also see a number of what look like third-party plugins listed, and that may be the problem. What's happening when you try to open the file?

See the documentation on store synchronous write policy configuration for advice.>
    I have checked that Native I/O is enabled,but it seems JMS can't find correct .so file
    Any idea? Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,

    We are also getting the same error on a Linux 10.3.3 installation with 64bit jrockit
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5
    Linux 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    Is that the correct driver? This is a default weblogic installation, what is missing so it uses the correct I/O method?
