Zen Nano music prob

i just bought a Zen Nano yesterday and i downloaded my songs on to it but the thing is now when i play some of those songs about 20 secs in the player turns off... this happends with like 5 out of 0 tracks on my player... please someone help me.

It only happens with some songs? If it is a small percentage of the songs, then those files might be defecti've. If so, then delete the defecti've files from the player. If it is a large percentage of the songs, then see below.
First try a different battery. If that doesn't help, then reload the firmware. You can download the firmware from here.
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/
If that doesn't work, then you might have gotten a defecti've player so then exchange the player.

  • My zen nano plus prob

I uploaded the holy bible audio in my Zen nano plus mp3 I bought three days ago. totally 66 folders, but can only show up 38 folders, new testament 2, old testament 7, I try to delete, format, and upload again, the problem is still here.
two friends met the same problem. one is the zen nano, the one is the <FONT color=#333333>Muvo TX FM.
If any body have the same problem before, thanks a lot for your gus help.

There is a maximum number of folders supported by the players and it depends on the firmware version. It varies between 50 and 60 folders including the automatically created folders such as Encoded Tracks and Recorded Tracks.
This also includes high level folders without files in them - if you had an NT folder with 20 folders in it and an OT folder with 30 folders in it then that would be 52 folders not 50. The last ones alphanumerically are ignored.

  • Zen Nano Boot Prob

I think this player has an issue with the size of MP3s. I regularly load and listen to fairly large MP3 podcasts, 50-70 MB per file. Just the other day the player was acting like it had a dead battery, it would shut itself off and then when attemping to boot up again it would say "Creative", then "Zen Nano..", the it would shut off again.
I tried a few new batteries and got the same response. Occasionally it would boot and start playing, but as soon as I changed tracks it would shut off again.
It seems I finally fixed it by deleting one of the large MP3s. Player appears to be back to normal now.
I also noticed that some large MP3s have intermittent problems when trying to skip over them. The player will stop responding for a few seconds. This doesn't happen all the time.
Anyway, maybe you guys should look into your firmware and see if there is anything that can be optimized. There's someone else on this board that complained about the same thing. Thanks.
EDITED to say that the problem is back. The fix only lasted for a few hours. There is definitely something wrong with this player... Please check your firmware for bugs, thanks.Message Edited by mocha on 2-23-2005 05:0 PM

Well I guess no one cares or never had this problem, but I can say that now after I loaded the latest firmware the player is back to normal. I don't understand why the firmware would get corrupted but in any case it works now.

Go to the Zen Nano Downloads page.
Download the Mass Storage Drivers and firmware update file.
Install the mass storgae drivers - you'll need these for the next part.
Follow the instructions on the Downloads page - click on the Show Details link next to the info on the Firmware file.

'Have you managed to put any songs onto your player at all?' I copied about 40 onto it in one go and it only copied on 20 or so before saying one of the songs directories cannot be created.
'Is your player recognised by Media Explorer, Windows Media Player and MediaSource?'
    yes by all 3
'Does it appear with its own dri've letter in Windows Explorer?' yes

  • HUGE Zen Micro Music Prob

Ok...i've had this problem practically since day ...i got it for x-mas. Everytime i add a song...it doubles it. Just recently...i added 57 songs. I look on the list...on my computer...and GUESS WHAT?!?! 44 (ish) songs...woohoo. What do i do?
Please dont say delete each double...that will take WAY TOO LONG!

sorry..it was clear in my head ;-)
I just meant that all i'm doing is the ripping phase. i am not moving the tracks to the zen device, just ripping cd tracks to my laptop. is use zen micro explorer for the ripping phase; notmad will not rip cd's. ultimately, i would transfer to the device using notmad. BUT, the duplicates show in the library immediately upon ripping the cd. it does not happen when i download a song, only when the tracks go into the library from a cd. Ideas?
    Not life-threatening, but certainly annoying.

  • Zen nano plus prob

Ok, Ive had problems with this for a while, first it would just shut off randomly, and then it got worse and started shutting off more often until now where it wont turn on. I know its not busted because I can hook it up to my computer and toss files on it, It just wont turn on when I unhook it, I updated the firmware and all that junk.. Im kind of upset I payed money for this, It was great until it crapped out on me. I still have the warranty, but Im missing the battery cover.
    Advice/Solutions Please
    Thanks

It does sound as if aproblem has developed onthe unit. Best place in these cases to pursue a replacement in contacting Customer Services directly.

  • Zen Nano Plus - can't move music to it all of a sud

My daughter has had a Zen Nano Plus for about 4 months - no problems up to now. She wanted to put some new music on it, and no matter what we try, we get an error - Transfer error - an error has occurred while transferring this file. I've tried it using a variety of software as well as drag and drop. We just bought my other daughter the identical player, and I can move music to hers with no problem - so it's not the computer or the connection. Any ideas? The player works fine with the music that's on it. Any ideas, or is it RMA time? Thanks!

Hi. What sounds like the same problem has happened to me my first time using the player. It's basically behaving as if it's full, when there is over 6MB of free space left. I read a thread on Amazon (from where I bought the player) and apparently this is a common problem with the Zen nano plus, so Amazon can't/ won't replace players with this defect :-( Do any experts out there think that the response to this problem could fix my issue too? So from now on I should transfer files into folders, instead of trying to transfer 500 songs all in one go? Cheers!

  • Record line in music with Zen Nano 51

how can we record the music with line in?
    which line in?
can we use earphone jack as line in?

It's the Zen Nano Plus that has a line in port. It would be on the bottom of the player (opposite end from the headphone jack), next to the USB port and have Line-In written next to it.
There's menu options to recording using it on the player.

  • Zen Nano Plus - Used Battery vs. New Battery Prob

I downloaded some WMA files from Walmart.com and successfully transferred them to my Zen Nano Plus. They played fine. But the battery, which was already low on power, died. I switched in a new battery and tried playing WMA files, but they would only play for about three seconds before the mp3 player shut off.
I switched back in the old battery and the WMA files played just fine.
Both the old and new battery play the MP3 files, so there's no problem there.
Is the problem related to voltage or something? Please help.

    Known issue, check [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=40235&view=by_date _ascending&page=">this thread[/url].
    No solution yet, I'm afraid.

  • Zen Nano Plus - 300mb of the 1G is not available to store music

About 300mb of?space is?unused on my Zen Nano plus (G) and I cannot load anything onto it. Any suggestions? Is this a firmware issue??

Please read the FAQ sticky thread as this is covered there - it is a limitation of the root folder in the FAT filesystem - put your songs into a folder and you will be able to fill it. PB

  • Zen Nano Plus transfer prob

Am having trouble transferring .wma files to my Zen Nano Plus even though it has 590MB free. When I try to transfer anything using Creative Source I keep getting a "transfer error" message. Have tried reorganising files into folders to cut down on memory used in the root folder - but it doesn't seem to help. It's even stopped letting me transfer between folders. Has anyone else had this problem.. Anyone know what to do??

I'm having the exact same problem with my Nano Plus, and I've only had it for a little over 3 months. I contacted technical support and they told me to download the Firmware update and gave me these directions:
    Zen Nano Plus Firmware Update:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=2720&dlcentric=9423&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+Plus&OSName=Windows+XP
To install this firmware upgrade, do the following:
    - Connect your player to your computer.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file.
    - When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
    - Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.
    - Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
    - Release the Play button when the "Find New Hardware" dialog box appears on the computer screen.
    - Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen. Ensure to select the "Format Data Area" option within the Update.
However, at step 6 my computer did not recognize my player with it being on and neither did the Firmware. I responded to Technical Support and told them this. They said it seemed like it needed repaired or replaced! Even though there is a -year warranty, there is only a 3 month labor warranty, which means if you send it in to get fixed and it has passed the 3-month labor warranty, you have to pay a $24.95 diagnostics and handling fee. If you're in this situation, they said the best thing to do is try to exchange it wherever you bought it first. I hope this helps!

  • Zen Nano book transfer prob

I am having problems transferring my downloaded library books. They won't go from my Creative Organizer on to my Zen Nano. I am getting an error message when I start the transfer. Can this be a problem with my Nano Plus or with the computer software I feel confident that it downloaded to my computer without a problem, because I can play the books on the computer. Have I used up my Nano & need to replace it's Can I reload anything that could help ?

Your message is blank tictocs, but I recomend you right click the icon (media source blue arrow icon, windows media player red, yellow, green, blue arrow circle) and select "send to" from the drop down, then the Nano from that drop down.

Have tried to download drivers and software for Zen Micro. When I try to run it though, it does not install because it says that I do not have device connected. Have erased everything off of Zen Micro, but have not reformatted. When I attach Zen Micro to PC, Zen Micro displays "booted" & PC displays "Zen Micro" for a second or two, then switches to "MTP Device"?. Do I need to erase everything from the Zen Nano Plus first?2. What do you think my next step should be?Thx???

  • I am having a problem with my Zen Nano P

When I first got the player for my birthday it was great. I transferred a lot of music onto it and would take it to work out or just to listen to it. But like all people I got bored with the list so I deleted all the music and made another one. Well after three lists I can no longer sync it with my computer. I have tried everything. The USB ports are working, I can sync other devices up with my computer, but for some reason I can no longer transfer songs. Its not like other problems I have read about like man I can't transfer all the songs I want no I can't transfer any songs, and the player has been emptied.
So lets recap, no songs on the player, have tried Mediasource and Windows Media Player, and still can not transfer any songs at all. And I think my warranty has run out so I can't get my money back or get a new player.
    Please help if someone can.

You are welcome. I am happy that the redownloading of the firmware helped you and fixed your problem. It is the first thing I try whenever my players don't do what they are supposed to do. I use my Zen Nano Plus mainly for audiobooks. It is a great little player.
