Any Solaris 8 SPARC 10/00 2 of 2 CD's Out There?

I was given a copy of Solaris 8 (10/00 SPARC Media) because it has a bad 2 of 2 Installation Software CD. Does anyone have one of these on the shelf as a spare that they don't use and/or want anymore? If so, I would appreciate an E-mail so that we can work something out. [email protected]

Kalpesh - do you work in support? Most users don't have the luxury
of spare media or systems to experiment with:-)
Perhaps the original poster could tell us the exact HW config so
others can offer suggestions?

Here is the text from the download site from 10.3.3 that applies to 10.3.0 as well:
Note: This table includes links to WebLogic Server installers that include 32-bit JVMs for the platform
in question, and links to WebLogic Server generic installers that can be used on any supported platform.
To use WebLogic Server with 64-bit JVM's on Linux and Solaris or to use WLS on other supported
platforms, use the WebLogic Server generic installer listed under "Additional Platforms". The generic
installers do not include a JVM/JDK. For instructions on using the generic installers, see this document.
So regardless whether the OS is 64bit or not, you need to select the installer on whether you are running WebLogic Server in a 32bit JVM or a 64bit JVM. If you run in a 32bit JVM, you can use the 32bit binary installer for Solaris that has a .bin extension. If you are going to run a 64bit JVM, then you need to download the "generic" .jar installer and separately download the supported 64bit JDK and follow the instructions similar to this, but for 10.3.0.

Dialog Instance (not in cluster): Started on the other node
When I create the resource for SUNW.sap_as like
    clrs create --g sap-rg -t SUNW.sap_as .....etc etc
in the /var/adm/messages I got lots of WAITING FOR DISPACHER TO COME UP....

  • Install newest JRE on Solaris 9 Sparc (64-bit)

Note: This message has also been posted on the JRE forum. This is the second attempt to post it here.
I would like to know the best method to replace the JRE that is installed with a Solaris 9 (SPARC) installation. A clean installation of Solaris 9 comes with JRE 1.4 and I would prefer 1.4.1 (64-bit) or newer. Sun provides self-extracting archive downloads of the latest JREs for Solaris, but I have been unsuccessful in using these. I followed the instructions at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-solaris.html
for doing a self-extracting installation, but this does not replace the contents of /usr/j2se with the new JRE. Additionally a pkginfo still points to the old JRE. I also read the instructions at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-solaris-64.html
which stated I should install the 32-bit version, and then the 64-bit version. Finally, both set of instructions mention installation from packages, yet I am unable to find the packages to download. What is the best method to remove the JRE from a Solaris installation and install a newer version of the JRE so the pkginfo is updated and the new JRE resides in /usr/j2se? Any assistance is appreciated.

I found by issue "mount -v" that our disk slices are
UFS type. So we don't need apply patch 5257399,
right? Please confirm. Thanks!!!For your information, you are asking the user community to confirm, not Oracle. Some (many?) of us are not employed by Oracle.

Your safest bet would be to escalate the request wityh Oracle Support.

I think that the error would be caused by the JDK version with which try to initializing.
Anyone have any idea about the possible error? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I encourage you to try to use the generic installer at: %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/runInstaller. Because if you are using the runInstaller at %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/install/solaris it will lead to that problem in some cases.

While installing grid for cluster, node information table appears as blank.. while clicking "use cluster configuration file" option in that screen it shows that vendor clusterware detected. cluster configuration cannot be modified..
If anyone knows how to resolve this problem, please post ur solution or if you have any procedure to install 11g r2 Grid infrastructure for a cluster in Solaris 10 sparc os with sun cluster 3.2, please send me the document to my email id- [email protected]

I would suggest changing the media you burned it on. That always seems to be the issue with things like this. Search the forums for suggestions on what works.

  • Solaris 9 Sparc

Has anyone downloaded the zipped ISO's for Solaris 9 Sparc? I completed all three downloads and created the CD's from the ISO's. The install disk works fine. I'm having trouble with disk 1, it seems to be corrupt. In fact the ISO claims to to be 564 Mb but the CD only reports 262 Mb. I also used ISO Buster and used the extract utility. It too is reporting 262 Mb.
I tried the Sun Download Manager thinking that I may have an issue with IE or my WinZip programs.
I've burnt two disks using EZ CD Creator 5 and one disk using Nero.
Anyone have any Ideas? I think the file is corrupt.
I hope this is the right place to post this. Thanks

There definitely seems to be something wrong with these zip files...
    I downloaded install, v1, v2 onto a solaris 8 system, "unzip install" works;
"unzip v1" claims that end-of-central-directory signature not found. I've downloaded
this file a number of times
I downloaded v1 on a XP system w Sun DownLoad Manager, which unzips automagically
after the download. Using Nero to try to burn the iso, hangs the Nero application.
Sun does not seem to care about desktops any longer... After getting the 5th canned response
from [email protected] resulting from my downloads; I replied with a summary of
my troubles... Someone claiming to be a "Customer Service Specialist" send a somewhat
insulting reply , caliming no technical help was available there & that I should consult
the hardware compatibilty list. ie presumably my Ultra 5 with Solaris 8 is unable to unzip
    a sun generated zip file.

  • Could not locate new host added from Solaris 10 Sparc servers

    Hi All,
I am having difficulty finding a new host (Stallion terminal server. e.g. jodie - 10.56.4.7) using ping on our Sun Fire T5220 Solaris 10 on our network, even though jodie has been updated to the DHCP (10.56.19.157) server and can be located from other hosts that runs Red Hat Linux and Windows XP. • Quad gigaSwift Ethernet Driver for Solaris 10 Sparc

I have been looking about for this all over the place and cannot find it anywhere, in the manual and the sun site all the downloads are for solaris 9.
Are these cards not supported on Solaris 10 Sparc ?
    Cheers,
    Mike

it is the X4444A solaris 10 did pick up the card straight away, but the problem is there was no ce.conf file, i have created my own because i need to turn on jumbo frame for an individual port, but when i add it in all the ports on the card are being set to MTU 9800 so then i have to set them indivually to 1500 apart from the one i am using that needs to be 9000. This is all good and proper but when i activate this the box connects to the netapps server but all nfs shares fail as soon as anything touches these directories.
The netapps filer is running at MTU 9000 and the card is running at 9000 causes everything to fall over, set back to normal and everything is ok.
    Any ideas ?

  • UFS filesystem limit on solaris 10 - sparc

    Hi All,
I have one question in regards with soalris UFS file system on Sun Solaris 10 Sparc.
currently i have one mount point with 1.5 TB of space with UFS filesystem connected to EMC SAN, now i am going to add one metalun of 1 more TB and exapnd it on SAN.
In regards with this i have some concerns:
    1) Will UFS support 2.5 TB on a single slice?
    2) Simply growfs command will work or do we need to perform additional steps?
    Steps :
--> bkp data and umount the filesystem
    --> run devfsadm
    --> use growfs command
    --> mount partition again
Any suggestions in this regards are really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.FWIW, that's an EFI label. Above a certain size, "standard" Solaris disk labels don't work, so EFI labels are required. Is that the same as the VTOC that was available before you enlarged the LUN. IIRC that limit might be 2 TB.
Since you refer to slice 2, I am assuming here the old label may not have been an EFI label. Also, EFI labels do not support overlapping slices, so the old Solaris convention of slice 2 being the entire disk no longer applies.

I am trying to install solaris 10 Sparc on an Sun Ultra 40 i386 pc. Is that able to be done. I have libraries that only work on sparc machines. Thanks for any help.

  • License for cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86

I'd like to do cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86 using gcc (for linux). To do that, I have to copy libraries (/lib/64) and includes (/usr/include) from a sparc machine to my linux machine.
The compilation will be run on about (up to) 50 Linux machines (by various developers). We also have 3 solaris-10-SPARC machines.
I wonder if Solaris license allows me to copy the includes and libs to perform compilation elsewhere.
I also checked "OTN License Agreement for Oracle Solaris", but it looks like Oracle allows for installing "the programs" on up to 3 machines, but I need it on 50.
Thanks for any suggestions or redirections to a proper place where I can get an answer.

When installing Solaris 10 01/06 on a Dell 1850 I receive an error message during the install saying "no disk found". I assume that the drive/controller is not recognized. The Dell 1850 is listed under the HCL for Solaris 10 10/06. I don't believe I can use the Solaris(TM) Device Driver for the LSI MegaRAID Adapter floppy with 1/06. I dont have any other Solaris boxes up so I cant build a jump start server. Any suggestions?

  • Upgrade from Solaris 8 SPARC with Sun cluster 3.1u3 to Solaris 10 SPARC

    Dear All,
We are planning an upgrade of the OS from Solaris 8 SPARC to Solaris 10 SPARC on a two-node active-standby clustered system.
The current major software we have on the Solaris 8 system are:
    1: Sun Cluster 3.1u3
    2: Oracle 9i 9.2.0.8
3: Veritas File System Vxfs v4.0
    4: Sun Solaris 8 2/04 SPARC
Any pointers as to what sequence and how the upgrade should be done?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ray

yes I know it can be quite complicated and complex, but Sun provided us with a detailed documentation, at least in our case Solaris 9 to 10 it was very helpful.
