Attribute handling in Sun Java Directory Proxy Server join data views

Hi all,
I've configured a join data view and want to get rid of the duplicated attributes that show up in the search results since they are present in the primary and the secondary data view. The documentation says that this behaviour is configurable to return only the values of the primary data view but I can't find any information how to do it.
Can anybody shed some light on this?
Thanks and regards
Geli

Hi,
If an attribute is present on both sides and if you want to consider the value(s) from one side only, use the viewable-attr or non-viewable-attr property at the data view level. You can specify which attribute(s) are /are not exposed by that data view (policy for read and write may differ).
For more details, have a look at [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0986/non-viewable-attr-5dpconf?l=ko&a=view|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0986/non-viewable-attr-5dpconf?l=ko&a=view]

    Dear ahmad@bzu,
I suspect that your download is corrupted. Check the file size ( for me it shows up 89,328KB(and the installation went smooth). So a possible solution should be to download again and try the installation.

First of all, is there a reason why you are using jRockit?
Since the issue appeared after upgrading the windows, the issue would potentially be in the interaction between JVM and OS.
Also, there were some issues related to memory leak that were fixed in AS 8.2.
May be you should try with a Sun JVM and AS 8.2.

  • Sun Java Web Proxy Server 4.0.12 is supports Websense Web Security

    Hello All,
I am using Sun Java Web Proxy 4.0.12 server and installed in RedHat Linux 5.0 OS and I can found software for Websense Web Security aoftware to protect my users and filter the traffic.
How can I integrate with Websense Web Security
Thanks & looking forward hear from you guys
    Ifthekhar Javed
    Riyadh.

We have migrated several reverse and acl proxy from 3.6 to 4.0.6 and have hit a few issues. If anyone has encountered these we would appriate input.
First, we thought we had caching disabled in the GUI but the server.xml still have it set to "true" in the FILECAHE entry. Will changing the entry to "false" totally disable chaching?
When we started the migrated proxy instances the server hit memory issues with swap being eaten up very quickly.
Second issue is MaxProcs in the magnus.conf. In 3.6 MaxProcs set the number of processes to start and it now for determening the number of processors in the server for threading. We are currently on a server with 6 processors. Should MaxProcs be set to six?
We will be migrating to Solaris 10 and then to a T2000 so we assume the setting will have to change for each of those migigrations.
The third issue is, has anyone run 3.6 on Solaris 10 and then migrated to 4.0 later? Sun site shows 3.6 not tested on Solaris 10 but I am sure some one has tried it.

  • Installing Sun Java Directory Proxy 2005Q1 on Solaris 10

I'm trying to install this in test... The install seems to go fine and all packages list as fully installed. Admin server and Directory server work fine on the same system.
However... I'm missing all starting scripts for the system (no start-dps, for example)... If I install the system in it's own serverroot, the only thing that ends up there after install is a usr directory.
I can seem to find anything that would suggest this is a known issue (though I found a post that suggested that the Java System install was just broken (from February)).
    Thoughts or wisdom on this?

    ahem: its/can't
at any rate: I now have this working... There seems to be a problem installing in non-default directories. I left all directories and userids (root) as default, and now everything is running fine.

  • Problem in installing Directory Proxy server

Hi all! Recently downloaded the trial version of sun one directory proxy server. After installing the sun one DS 5.2 . I tried to install sun one proxy server..when it asks for configuration server information i have given the admin id and password ....
but it gave me following error message
"The given Administrator Id/password combination was not accepted by the
    Configuration Directory Server.
The Sun ONE configuration directory administrator is the ID typically used to
    log in to the console."
I did used the same id and password to login to console & i am able to log in.
    Please advice.

    Two quick hints.
First off, instead of hitting <Enter> to accept the default for the username [admin], type "admin" (without the quotes) as if you were giving different credentials. There's a known issue during the installation where the default text doesn't work.
Additionally, I had to change my admin password in the configuration directory to cleartext in order to get it to work. For some reason the password encryption during the bind was never successful. To do that:
    dn: uid=admin,ou=Administrators,ou=TopologyManagement,o=NetscapeRoot
    changetype: modify
    replace: userPassword
    userPassword: {CLEAR}password
I have no idea if this addresses the problem itself or just a symptom, but it did allow me to install DPS. You might want to give it a shot.

  • Issue with binary attribute types through Directory Proxy Server 6.3.1

I'm having problems with DPS 6.3.1.1 on Solaris 10 with binary attribute types. From most LDAP servers, requesting an attribute such as userCertificate would return userCertificate;binary without any issues. However, DPS seems to consider these two separate attributes. In order to see userCertificate;binary, I have to ask for it in that exact format. This obviously is causing trouble for many clients as they shouldn't care about the binary type as it's the same attribute.
I've tried to correct this with a virtual data transformation (dpconf add-virtual-transformation 'PKI Tree' read add-attr-value userCertificate \${userCertificate\;binary}) but the end results are the same. Any ideas on how I can correct this one?
    Thanks in advance.

Looks like the attribute sunIdentityServerDiscoEntries is defined twice in the schema. Run the following and see where it is defined for the second time.

  • Synchronization between AD and Sun Java Directory Server

I would like to build an environment as below, kindly let me know whether it is possible or not.
My Enterprise Directory is Active Directory and i have Policy Server which directs the sso users to get authenticated with that server. I would like to synchronize the user data from Active Directory to Sun Java Directory Server (existing version is 5.2 Service Pack 4) including the passwords and i would like to know with which hashing algorithm these passwords are stored in the sun directory server. Because i want to synchronize the same attributes from sun java directory server to Oracle Internet Directory and is it possible to get my sso users to get authenticated at OID even?
Kindly let me know whether this approach is feasible or not?
Any suggestion to this approach is greatly appreciated...
    Thanks in advance...
    Regards,
    Kishore Repakula.

i would like to know with which hashing algorithm these
passwords are stored in the sun directory server.Like most other directory servers, SunDS offers a few choices here.
The most secure is SSHA, which you'd probably want to use unless you have apps with dependencies on other hashes (e.g., CRYPT for backward compatibility with UNIX password field).
I would like to synchronize the user data from Active Directory
to Sun Java Directory Server (existing version is 5.2
Service Pack 4) including the passwords...Sun has a "Identity Synchronization for Windows" product which might work for you.
    http://www.sun.com/software/products/directory_srvr_ee/identity_synch/
Unfortunately, the big trick with AD passwords is that they are stored in a proprietary one-way hash, so you can't just sync them directly over to another directory. Likewise, you can't import password hashes from other sources into AD and expect them to work.

    Hi Every one,
I am working on upgrade our Sun one 6.1 webserver to Sun Java system web server 7. Our website uses weblogic server to process jsp, web server only send static pages. I did all configurations as on Sun one. But somehow, the webserver does not forward "get jsp page" request to weblogic. The log record is:
for host 10.78.124.118 trying to GET /home.jsp, send-file reports: HTTP4142: can't find /www/a/WebServer7/docs/bmd9i/home.jsp (File not found)
    home.jsp is at weblogic server.
And redirect "NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url="/home.jsp"" seems does not work. when I type on IE http://32.69.253.131/ (32.69.253.131 is http listener IP), it always shows index.html page under the document root.

Quick obvious question - Are you positive you're editing the correct obj.conf? Check the config directory and see if there is a second one called something like <instance>.obj.conf (where <instance> is the name of your configured instance).
Alternatively you can grep for object-file in the server.xml to see which obj.conf the server is using:
    # grep object-file server.xml
<object-file>bare-php.obj.conf</object-file>Assuming that you are editing the correct obj.conf file, are you making certain to restart Web Server after making your changes?

  • Sun Java Directory Server 5.2 x86 download

I'm trying to find a copy of the x86 version of the Sun Java Directory Server compressed archive for Solaris.  I'm trying to build out a test system for some old software, and I only have a copy of the Sparc version of ldap.  I've tried using the current DSEE version available on the Oracle e-delivery cloud, but the software is too old to work with it...it needs the 5.2 version, specifically.  Is anyone aware of where I can find a copy?
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Nope
This is part of the Oracle Lifetime Support policy:
    http://www.oracle.com/us/support/lifetime-support/index.html
'OLD' products can/may still be supported under *SPECIAL* support contracts. So if you're entitled to its support, you can access it. Otherwise, I'm afraid the answer is no.

  • Integrating Sun Java Directory Server with Sun Java Application Server 7

    Hi,
My basic goal is to implement Single Sign On within the network i,e if the user is inside the company's network and tries to access any application, then he should not be required for Username/password again becuase he is in the network.
My question is Is this possible with Sun Java System DIrectory server. If yes how can we integrate Directory Server with Sun Java System Application Server 7 2004Q2.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Directory Server in itself doesn't provide any kind of SSO functions. Basically it is a high performing data repository accessible via LDAP and DSML. It is, however, a key component used by SSO applications like Access Manager. If your applications are web applications then take a look at Access Manager for your SSO needs.

  • Importing LTPA key in Sun Java Directory Server

    hi all,
is it possible to import a LTPA token into Sun Java Directory Server?
havent found any helpful docs on the net regarding the same.
We want the users to get authentication from a Sun Directory when he login from a Domino HTTP server

Sun Directory Server is a generic purpose LDAP based directory server and can certainly contain any data, including LTPA tokens.
Whether these tokens could be used for authentication using LDAP is another story (and the answer is probably no).
