BI-IP Bex Analyser - Input Queries / Workbooks

Hi experts,
In BI-IP (BW 7) with Bex Analyser, we want to make an input query with the standard chars. WBS Element and Asset Class. In our business 1 WBS can be planned to several asset classes, but 1 asset class only has 1 WBS. The link between both is made by a common attribute value (the account determination).
Ex:
WBS A - Account determination 123
Asset Class A - Account determination 123
Asset Class B - Account determination 123
We want the input query to show automatically:
WBS A - Asset Class A
            - Asset Class B
Any suggestions?
Thanks and Regards,
MA

Maria,
You need a characteristic relationship of type combination/proposal.

  • BI-IP - Bex Analyser - Adding colums / rows in workbooks

    Hi experts,
In BI-IP (BW 7) in Bex Analyser we are facing the following problem:
In the workbook if the user inserts a column nearby the input ready columns and inputs values at the time of transfer / save values, the system automatically copies these values to the next input column. The same if they insert rows and add values, at the time of transfer values the system deletes the row but adds the values in the above row.
Is it how Bex Analyser (workbook) works or we are having a problem?
    Thanks and regards,
    MA

    Hi Maria,
Please do not take it offesive.
The issue you guys are encountering is due to lack of Training to Users.
Planning is an intelligent activity. Planners are expected to do their home work before they embark on planning and layouts help capturing values in an orderly manner.
It would be wonderful if you restrict the access to queries, else train the users on the impact and relevance.
As you are aware adding a row is possible in WAD.

  • Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks

    Hi,
Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks.
For instance when you edit, open an 3.x query in 7.0 query designer it is automatically migrated.Would it be same if we open it in 7.1 query designer? Is it possible to migrate queries and workbooks without any fail or deletion or loss?
    Thank you.

I will add to the already excellent suggestions made above that the migration from Bex 3.x to Bex 7.0 is VERY laborious. There are no automated tools.
All queries and workbooks must be identified (use this as an opportunity to get rid of unused objects)
Each query must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as needed.
Each Workbook must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as well. The "Automated" conversion tool that SAP provides (it's behind the scenes Visual Basic) presents problems with at least 50% of the workbooks, and so they have to be manually fussed with.
If you've used Visual Basic at all in your Workbooks, you'll have to change 'em all. The On Refresh event no longer exists.
And of course, test... test.. test.. and test.
And don't forget to retrain your users. The User interface is dramatically different.
Good luck ! We're 3 months in to a five month conversion project.

  • Can BEX queries / workbooks directly called from the EP

    Hi,
We are trying to call queries / workbooks directly from the portal using SAP connector / RFC's.
    Thanks.

Here is my code in a file I used as a sample. I put the bee in a symbol named world and it works correctly:
    EC.SVG.accessSVG(sym.getSymbol('world').$('bees')).done(
              function(svgDocument){
                        // add event listener
                        svgDocument.addEventListener("select", function(event) {
                        // Remember selected part
                        sym.setVariable("selectedPart", event.target);
// show the id of the selected part in the textfield
                        sym.$("selectedPartTxt").html( event.target.id );
Let me know if this helps. I can post the sample if you want.

  • What is difference between bex analyser and bex browser

what is difference between bex analyser and bex browser . please explain what are use of both and what we do in both.

    hi
    Bex Browser
The Business Explorer Browser (BEx Browser) makes it possible for you to access all document types of the Business Information Warehouse that are assigned to your role or that you have stored in your favorites. You can select and open documents assigned to you in the BEx Browser or store and manage new documents in the BEx Browser.
Document types that you can work with in the BEx Browser are:
    · BW workbooks
    · Documents that are stored in the Business Document Service (BDS)
    · Links (references to file system, shortcuts)
    · Links to internet sites (URLs)
    · SAP transaction calls.
    · Web applications and Web templates
    · Crystal Reports
    Bex Analyser
The Business Explorer Analyzer (BEx Analyzer) is the analysis and reporting tool of the Business Explorer that is embedded in Microsoft Excel.
    Features
You can call up the BEx Query Designer in the BEx Analyzer, in order to define queries. Subsequently, you can analyze the selected InfoProvider data by navigation to the query created in the Query Designer and create different query views of the data. You can add the different query views for a query or for different queries to a work book and save them there. You can save the workbook in your favorites or in your role on the BW Server. You can also save the workbook locally on your computer.
Beyond that, you can precalculate the workbook and distribute it by e-mail to recipeients or you can export it to the Enterprise Portal and make it accessible to other employees in the company.
You can start queries in a standard view (with a Standard Web Template set up in Customizing) in the Web browser and forward the URL or continue to navigate on the Web. Similarly, you can export the Web query to MS Excel 2000.
Overview of the Functional Area of the BEx Analyzer:
    ·        BEx toolbar
You access the functions of the BEx Analyzer from the BEx toolbar, which takes you to the BEx Open dialog box where you can open existing queries, or to the BEx Query Designer where you can create new queries or change existing queries.
    ·        Evaluating Query Data
The BEx Analyzer offers convenient functions for evaluating and presenting InfoProvider data interactively. In the BEx Analyzer, you can add queries to workbooks, navigate within them and refresh the data. You can also process the queries further in Microsoft Excel or display them in the Web browser in a default view.
Navigation of a query allows you, for example, to filter characteristics on a single value, drilldown on all values for a characteristic, regroup characteristics and key figures in the rows and columns of the results area, or hide key figures. Navigation results in different views of the InfoProvider data. In addition, a range of further functions is available which allow you to edit a query interactively (for example, sorting, cumulated output, among others). In addition, you can use the editing functions in Microsoft Excel in order to set up individual format templates, to print results areas, or to create graphics.
    ·        Queries in Workbooks
Queries are inserted into workbooks so you can display them. When you insert a query, a link is made between the cell areas of the worksheet and the data of the InfoProvider upon which the query is based. A link therefore exists between the Business Explorer and the Business Information Warehouse Server (BW Server).
When inserting a query into the workbook, a VBA routine is automatically generated in the workbook. You can also connect the Business Explorer with your own VBA programs (Visual Basic for Applications).
You can create workbook templates, into which you can insert your queries. Workbook templates can contain pre-determined items for the area of the query, formatting settings, logos, VBA macros, and so on.
    ·        Precalculating workbooks
You can precalculate and distribute workbooks with the BEx Broadcaster, which is a Web application you get to form the BEx toolbar. The system generates MS Excel workbooks with historical data. You determine the time for precalculation yourself: You can have workbooks precalculated at a predefined time or they can be precalculated whenever data in the underlying InfoProvider changes. You can have the precalculated workbooks sent by e-mail or you can export them into the Enterprise Portal, where you can make them available to employees within your company.
    Activities
To start the BEx Analyzer, choose Start ® Programs ® SAP Front-end Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Business Explorer Analyzer.
You can also access the BEx Analyzer via SAP Easy Access ® SAP Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Menu ® Business Explorer ® Analyzer or in the Business Explorer Browser using the Business Explorer Analyzer symbol in the menu bar.

  • Date format in BEx Analyser / PreCalc Server

    Hi All,
First off, i have read many threads in this forum but none seem to solve our issue. So hopefully somebody will have a fresh view on this.
When i broadcast a workbook from BEx Broadcaster using a Precalc server, the date format displays as mm/dd/yyyy. We want it in dd/mm/yyyy.
    1. The BI profile (SU01) has the correct date format.
    - When the user runs the query in the portal or through BEx Analyser, the date format is correct.
    2. There isn't any issue with the query / workbook as we can broadcast it through a test pre-calc server and it displays in the correct format.
    3. Many threads have suggested changing the date format in the control panal of the precalc server. Not only have i done this for the logged in user, i've updated all users on the server through the registry. The precalc service is being run under the Local system user and this was one of the entries which i updated as it was still in US format. We tried restarting the service and also rebooting the server. But no change to the date format display. It is still in US format.
Has anybody any other suggestions for this issue. We want to apply it to all users for all queries if possible.  Should be an easy one but nothing has worked.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Georgina

    Hi Ravikanth,
    Thanks for your reply.
The first option won't work as i'd need it to be in the correct format when broadcast out by email to users in excel format.
I was hoping that this could be resolved without a custom solution, however the second option sounds like it could work but i have not worked with macros before and i'd imagine you'd need to know what you are doing to modify any of the modules behind the workbooks as it could mess them up.
If you have any suggestions or resources that you can point me to, that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Georgina

  • Error: Common entries are not permitted for plan queries and input queries

    Hi,
I have a 2 selections in the column struct:
    1. year = 2005, version = actual
    2. year = 2006, version = plan, marked as data can be changed using user entry or planning function
row has posting periods from 1-12
in the workbook I have inserted this query in the workbook in analysis grid. it runs good.
now i added a button and assigned planning function to it. this planning function copies 2005, actuals to 2006, plan.
when i execute the workbook and hit this button, it gives me following error:
"Common entries are not permitted for plan queries and input queries"
please can anyone provide me assistance with this issue.
    thanks,
    sam

when i go to diagnosis it displays following:
    Diagnosis
InfoProvider ZIP_PLAN2 must be described in this application by both a plan query and by a input-ready query, which is directly defined on the InfoProvider ZIP_PLAN2.

    This is not permitted.

  • BI-IP - Bex Analyser - select excel single row and aplly planning function

    Hi experts,
In BI-IP (BW 7) with Bex Analyser, is it possible to select a single excel row (or a range of rows) and then apply a planning function? I know that in WAD it's possible with the binding option to select a single web item.
The purpose is to apply a revaluation factor to selected (by the user) cost elements rows in the workbook.
    Thanks and regards,
    MA

    Hi
It is possibel in WAD to select one or many rows while executing Functions such as--Reposting; Revaluation etc.
However, you should be in a position to select the rows based on....unique identifier such as Require ID; Request #; Serial #; ....this is more so in case of multiple entries for the same cost element for different combinations.

  • Binding variables to a button in BEx Analyser

    Hi,
I have built a planning application in BEx Analyser but I am having an issue with planning sequences I have attached to a button.
I have attached a planning sequence to a Save button, carried out the steps of choosing planning sequence radio button, the appropriate data provider, attaching the planning sequence etc and then I attached a save to that same button as well. So when I run the application now it tells me the planning sequence ran with no issues and the data was saved. But I get an error message also saying: Parameter VAR_VALUE_LOW(_EXT)_2 is missing for variable ZINGRNG1
The data gets saved but the planning sequence doesnt actually execute despite it saying so. I know it is not an issue with the planning sequence as I have the same planning application built in BEx Web Application Designer.
To explain further I have 2 dropdowns boxes with must be selected before the the data becomes input ready and it as if when I save it doesnt recognise these variables or something.
Can any shed some light on this issue. Need to resolve it if at all possible for a presentation I am doing.
    Thanks,
    Elle

  • Getting Data from RSRT but not from Bex Analyser

    Hi All,
I am facing a strange issue with Bex Analyser(BI 7.0). When a user trying to execute a query/report he is not able see the input values what he supposed to see in parameters screen(Instead of his authorised values he is getting some other values in input parameters, eventhough he has sufficient authorisations (may be history)).
When I tried to execute the same report from RSRT, everything is fine, I have tried another option as well.. that is I have copied the same access and executed with that then its working fine. I have cleared the cache from RSRT and tried. but no luck.
If anyone come across to the same issue please let me know.
    Thanks
    Mani

    Hi BI-2010
In rsudo transaction I can see the values as per the user profile. The issue with only Bex Analyser and one more thing I have created another userid with the same access and it works fine.
And he didnt do the Bex personalisation.
    Thanks

  • How to eliminate # for empty date value in BEx Analyser

    Hi Gurus,
Can any one please let me know how to eliminate # for empty date value in BEx Analyser.
    Thanks in advance
    peter

    Hi
add the following macro to your workbook (template workbook):
Sub SAPBexonrefresh(qstring As String, resultArea As Range)
    For Each c In resultArea
    If LCase(c.Value) = "not assigned" Then c.Value = ""
    Next
    End Sub

  • Replacing # with blank space in Bex Analyser

    Hi All,
Can any one help me out in replacing # values in Bex analyser with blank space.
    I tried with the macro:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
' First Query in the workbook
    If queryID = "SAPBEXq0001" Then
' Selects the area where the report query is rendered
    resultArea.Select
    'Replace "" with 0
    Selection.Cells.Replace What:="", Replacement:="0", LookAt:=xlWhole, _ SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
    End If
    End Sub
Means I have include the macro to the Excel, but still it is not working.
If this macro is the correct solution, then may be I am not using it properly(in the sense I'm not calling with proper syntax).
Please provide me with the solutiuon to get rid of this problem.

    Hi,
    We are using BEX 7.0.
I got a macro code which is working. The code is as follows.
    Dim resultArea As Range
    Set resultArea = varname(1)
    Dim c As Range
    For Each c In resultArea.Cells
    If c.Value = "#" Then c.Value = " "
    Next c
This works fine but the problem is that this macro code should be added each and every time when the query is run.
Can any one suggest me where the code can be added in Bex Analyzer itself, so that when the query is run the above macro runs along with it and removes the #.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Geetha.

  • Setting up Default web template for BeX 7.0 queries.

    Hi Experts,
I am running a web-report based on a query created using Query Designer 7.0. I have a default web-template that I have been using for BeX 3.x queries [which has been created using WAD 3.X] and I tried to set the same template as default for the BeX 7.0 in SPRO>SAP Netweaver>Business Intelligence>Settings for Reporting and Analysis>BeX Web>Set Standard Web Templates>Ad Hoc Analysis.
But I can't see the changes being reflected in the web report after I made the change.I still see that the default template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN is being used. Can we set a web template created using WAD 3.x as the default template for 7.0 Queries? If yes, do I need to do something else apart from the changes I did in SPRO?
    Thanks
    Arvind

    Arvind,
Have you migrated your template to 7.0 ? you cannot use a 3.x template as the default for  a 7.0 template... unless you are using the EP6.0 iView / ABAP stack for running your queries on the web...

  • Broadcasting through BEX  analyser

    Hi
I am  using the bex analyser to broadcast a mail which has some 10 queries in it.
All these queries had to be restricted  on  0plant and had to be sent to differant  people only with their data.
So i created a   authorisation for those objects and assigned to  role to them and added it to their user id.
When i execute the reports manually using the t-code RSECADMIN and with the option Execute as USER NAME , i am able to see only the plants which i have restricted that user for.
But when i broadcast the same using analyser  all the  data is visible and the authorisation object is not working there.
Can any one let me now as to what would be the problem.
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi,
Can you please create a setting and choose the 'User Specific' box. Does this help?
