Bluetooth not working macbook pro 2011, AHT found nothing

My macbook pro 2011 has been having some issues with bluetooth. The system doesn't even recognize as having bluetooth hardware. I went under the hardware profile and it actually says No information found under bluetooth. I was able to do a full hour diagnostic test using Apple Hardware Test and everything was all clean. I'm not sure if this is Yosemite related or not. I definitely remember using my bluetooth enabled keyboard and mouse on my system before I upgraded to Yosemite. Wifi works fine. I've tried resetting PRAM, but nothing. I'm at a loss, not sure if there is anything else I can do.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Bluetooth Not Working / Macbook Pro Retina / Late 2013

Bluetooth suddenly not working on my Macbook. Definitley not the mouse (work's perfectly on another machine).
PRAM reset and still nothing. Any solutions please?!

That usually fixes the missing BT problem. I think, at this point, I would take it in for diagnosis.

  • Microphone and Line In Suddenly Not Working Macbook Pro 15" Early 2011

Yesterday without warning, my internal mic stopped working on my Macbook Pro 15" Early 2011. I discovered this when the recipient of a Skype call couldn't hear me, and verified that the mic was not getting any level in the Sound system preferences pane. There is also no microphone input happening when I plug in my iPhone headset to the headphones jack. The audio out seems to be fine. I had to use a USB microphone to get any sound into the computer. I used the microphone just a few days ago without any issue.
    I've already tried:
    Rebooting
    Resetting PRAM
Creating second account to test audio
And none of the above had any affect. Other note: I recently had the GPU of this computer replaced under Apple's special replacement plan. Anything else I should try before making an appointment to have the hardware looked at?

    pushyourmind,
If you’re up-to-date with Software Update, then you have the correct firmware installed. If you’re running 32-bit Windows 7, then Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 contains the correct drivers; if you’re running 64-bit Windows 7, then Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 contains the correct drivers. Which ever support software corresponds to your version of Windows 7, try downloading the corresponding .zip archive and following the installation instructions on the corresponding link above when booted in Windows.
Boot Camp 5.1 supports Windows 8.1 on your model MacBook Pro if you’re running OS X 10.8.3 or newer. Earlier versions of Boot Camp and older versions of OS X don’t support Windows 8.1 in Boot Camp on your model MacBook Pro.

  • Bluetooth not available MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) Yosemite

Hi guys, I've been having a problem lately and I can't find a fix for it. My problem is my bluetooth button on the top menu bar had a black squiggly line through it then when I click on it, it says "Bluetooth: Not Available". When I go to system preferences the tab for bluetooth isn't even there its just gone all there is is network. I am trying to connect my magic mouse which has worked fine until now, I had this problem in Mavericks and upgraded to Yosemite to see if that would fix it, Also please note I have tried Resetting PRAM, Deleting the bluetooth files, and Force-quitting "blued" which didn't do anything.

Well then, unfortunately for you, the conclusion becomes clear: your BlueTooth isn't working correctly anymore.
You can try reinstalling OS X from the Recovery Partition - boot your computer with the [cmd] + [r] keys pressed until you see a Utilities window - but since upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite pretty much amounts to a reinstall anyway I am not giving it much of a chance at success. Still, won't hurt though. Contact AppleCare for warranty options.

  • Ambient Light Sensor Not Working Macbook Pro 13 inch early 2011 version

Hi. I just need some clarification on how the ambient light sensor works. it seems mine is not working. Correct me if I'm wrong:
    1. Screen light must increase brightness if you are in a dark / dim room
    2. Screen light must decrease brightness if there is natural light
What must be the level of light in F2? Should it just be in the middle to activate ALS?
    Am I correct or not?

    1. Screen light must increase brightness if you are in a dark / dim room
    2. Screen light must decrease brightness if there is natural light
Actually, you are wrong. The opposite of each statement is true.
If the screen adjusted itself to maximum brightness in a very dark room, it would be blinding. In a dark room, you only need a very dim backlight to be able to see the screen well.
And in bright light, the screen is quite hard to read unless it is very bright.
What must be the level of light in F2? Should it just be in the middle to activate ALS?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand these questions.
The ALS is always active. You can determine (in System Preferences) whether or not it will automatically adjust your keyboard and display backlights as ambient light levels change.

  • Wifi, Bluetooh and iSight not working MacBook Pro

I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro Unibody. 8Gb Ram  Mavericks OS. I powered down one evening, everything normal.  Next day I rebooted it to find that I had lost Wifi, Bluetooth and isight.  Oh, and the fan runs at high speed constantly.
Ptheise computer is running OK and I can connect to network via ethernet.
    Messages are:
    1. Wifi - no hardware installed
    2. Bluetooth - not available
    3. iSight - there is no connected camera.
I have rebooted in safe mode, reset NVRAM and SMC, left it off for 30 hours. Tried an AHT. None worked.
Have checked system information.  Responses are:
    1. WiFi

I'm presently redownloading Mavericks to do either a reinstall, or clean install, but before I do this can anyone suggest a solution?  Computer back up is up to date.
NB: I live in Botswana where there are no Genius bars, nearest reliable service is in South Africa and downloads are VERY slow.
    Thanks in advance

Restarting Mac may fix it.  Otherwise: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

  • Audio not working MacBook Pro 15''

My internal speakers are not working and seem not to be recognized by the OS. I am running Lion. Under Preferences>Audio there isn't any option for the internal speakers. Headphones are still working.

I had the same problem and after a bit of research discovered that the line in is not getting enough input from an unpowered set of headsets.  ALSO, the mic level was set too low and so nothing was being picked up.
    Solution:
I have a Thunderbolt Express Dock (expensive I know but very handy) and plugging in through the express dock with the mic level up works great.
Alternatively, I also have a USB Headset Connector that comes up as a seperate device and also is able to take inputs.
Finally, if neither of these work, I found that the earth chassis on my Macbook Pro 15" was a bit unpredictable.  I removed the base cover, cleanes the contact points (little silver spring loaded buttons on the edge of the main board) and where the contacted the cover and this also improved things.

  • Backspace key not working - Macbook Pro using Mavericks

I've got a Macbook Pro (early 2011 model) which I upgraded to Mavericks earlier this year and all has been working fine. Over the past few days I noticed my backspace key was playing up (sometimes it worked, other times I had to press hard a few times before it would work at all) until today when it decided it would not work at all. I have already checked in System Preferences and restored defaults as well as resetting the PRAM but to no avail so far. Is there anything else I can try or will I need to take it back to the store and get it looked at?

Since you reset the PRAM, I would take it in for diagnosis.

  • HDMI output not working MACBOOK Pro (Oct 2014)

I am trying to get another screen connected to my MBP, I have tried numerous screens and cables to achieve this, but I can not get it to work.
Is there a on/off or disable HDMI output on the MBP?
I have used various screen, which i know work. And a HDMI to DVI and HDMI to HDMI cables to screens . I know the cable and screens work as I use them at work on a daily basis.
All I get is "No signal connected".
Is there any diagnostics or tests I can do?

  • Flashing Question mark: New hard drive not working Macbook Pro late 2008

After following several peoples advice on this forum I decided to upgrade my Macbook Pro late 2008 with a Seagate (1TB) Solid State Hybrid Drive 2.5 inch.
    Heres the device.
    http://www.morecomputers.com/spec.aspx?pn=ST1000LM014
After creating a mountable boot on a External hard drive with Mavericks install I removed the current hard drive and replaced with the new seagate drive. However it didn't seem to recognize the external hard drive (it is quite old but works perfectly) and went to a flashing grey question mark screen and wouldnt do anything else. Ive tried holding down command-r and option-r but I get nothing. Its just the same flashing question mark. I have done this several times and the same result.
I put the old drive back in and it works fine.
I am trying to work out is the problem with the mountable external hard drive OR is it the hard drive is not compatible with my computer?
    Appreciate your help
    Gary

Sorry I think you may be confused.
I am trying to install the new Seagate hard drive to my mac (not as an external hard drive).
I replace the macbook pro hard drive with the seagate drive:
    http://www.morecomputers.com/spec.aspx?pn=ST1000LM014
I then started up the machine with a usb external hard drive with a boot copy of mavericks on it. However, it just displayed a flashing question mark and wouldnt start booting the osx.
I am trying to work out is the problem with the mountable external hard drive OR is it the hard drive is not compatible with my computer? Im guessing it must be hard drive. Would it be better to use a USB pen drive as the external hard drive is quite old?
Does anyone know what the problem could be as the hard drive is brand new.
    Appreciate your help
    Thanks, Gary

  • Bluetooth not working mac pro 10.8.5

Bluetooth not woking on Mac Pro  (2x 2.4 quad) afrer inatalling 10.8.5
Rolled back to 10.8.4, unplugged from power for 20 seconds. Zapped the PRAM twice and it appears to be working again....
Has anyone got 10.8.5 working on a Mac Pro with Bluetooth ?

On a Late 2009 iMac, this problem cannot be solved. I have tried resetting SMC, zapping PRAM, deleting file(s). No fix, no built-in Bluetooth.
    CORRECTION:
    Much thanks to Rex Raymond.
This worked for me as well:
    1. Trash the com.apple.bluetooth.plist at /Library/Preferences.
    2. Delete the kext caches with this terminal command: sudo rm -R /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches
    3. Shut down the laptop. Unplug all cables but power.
    4. Reset the SMC by pressing Shift+ Control+ Option keys on the LEFT hand side of the keyboard, then pressing the power button at the same time and releasing of all of those keys together.
    5. Power up the computer.
    6. Zap the PRAM by holding down Cmd+Opt+P+R and wait for second chime
    7. Start up in Safe Boot by holding Shift key until progress bar appears.
    8. Upon logging in, open System Preferences. Note that the Bluetooth icon is again visible.
    9. Reboot normally and log in.
    10. Turn Bluetooth on and test by pairing with mouse. Verify functionality.

  • Speakers not working - Macbook Pro

    Hi,
Am facing this issue from today, that speakers on Macbook Pro are not working, when am MAC OS. When I boot into Windows 7 (Bootcamp), the speakers seems to be working.
I have checked the mute key, to ensure the MAC is not on mute mode.
How can I debug this issue?

Resetting Mac's PRAM and NVRAM did not helped.
Then I checked Sound settings in System Preferences and in Ouput Tab, the value selected for Sound Output was Apple TV. Probably it got changed when I was streaming the conten yest. using Apple TV.
I changed it back to Internal Speakers and and got the sound back on speakers.
    Thanks for all your assistance.
