CFM files downloading instead of processing

I have an IIS7 Windows 2008 server that was running ColdFusion 9 Standard just fine. We're trying to update it to ColdFusion 10 Standard. However, despite multiple re-installs, CFM files always download instead of serving properly. Here are the things I have confirmed.
All the necessary IIS services/features are installed per the Adobe documentation
The ISAPI filter and handler mappings are getting added in IIS and pointing to the correct CF10 filter.
We have run the Connector program, removed CF and re-added CF to the sites, with no change in behavior.
If we remove CF10 from the site, and then run the CF9 connector and connect CF9 it works great. As soon as we switch to CF10, though, it just will not execute CFM files.
One other odd thing... I noticed that the MIME type of cfm file when downloaded in /msdownload. Even if we manually enter a text/html MIME type for cfm files (which shouldn't be necessary) it still comes down as /msdownload.
My theory on this is that some process is intercepting the request before it gets to ColdFusion/Tomcat. Not sure why it happens with CF10 but not with CF9.

Hi,
It often depends on the website serving the videos. If they specify the wrong MIME type for the file then Safari will treat it as a regular binary file and download it.
Can you give examples of sites where you see the differing behaviour?

CFPDF pdf being downloaded as .cfm file

Hi there,
My website uses ColdFusion to create pdfs. Currently, users have been contacting me to say the PDFs that are created are being downloaded as .cfm files instead of .pdf files. This is annoying because they have to manually rename the file extension every time. As far as I am aware this is only happening in Firefox.
Is this a known issue and something fairly simple to correct?

Adding the following cfheader fixed the issue:

Except, now the alternate function of e-mailing the PDF as an attachment (rather than displaying it in the browser or saving it to their computer) does not work.

You can automatically save downloads without seeing the Open/Save/Cancel dialog in the Options:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > General > "Saves files to"
However, I can't think of a way to have the Open/Save/Cancel dialog always default to Save. I think mine suggests whatever I did last for the same type of content, but I haven't paid close attention.
I'm out of time to address the problem with "do this automatically" but there is one suggestion for why it could be grayed out in this article: [[Change what Firefox does when you click on or download a file]].
Is it possible you had a download-related extension before? To compare settings and extensions, please retain the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop. Aside from checking the extensions in there, it would be interesting to run a text file comparison on your currently active prefs.js file and your old one in that folder.

Battling to download PDF via index.cfm file

Hi.
I'm trying to download an pdf from alink to a index.cfm file
- Firefox downloads a 0byte file which then dissapears immediately,
whereas IE7 at least recognises a PDF file, but still downloads it
as a 0byte file which then wont open anyway :(
Any ideas??

Wrong forum (this is Digital Editions), but ...
I find .pdf files often won't launch properly on my Win8.1. It starts the process but it doesn't do the right thing.
Try making sure you don't have any copies of Reader working (AcroRd32.exe on my 32 bit Win 8.1).
Start a copy from the start screen (or start menu if you've set one up) BEFORE you try to access the file.
Now try to do the download or open it from the downloads directory.
I find that way the file will open properly.

Prompt to download/ open when opening .cfm files

Hello all
I have a new installation of CF8 on a Windows XP Pro machine. Configured to run on IIS. Whenever I try to open CF Administrator or other cfm files, I get a download pop-up instead of loading the file. I have IIS set up to recognized index.cfm files. I made sure CF8 is actually running.
Any input?

You might want to re-run the web server connector. I've had it fail to do its job properly sometimes, during installation.
It's in [JRun]/bin on a multiserver install (not sure where it is for a standard install... perhaps the [ColdFusion]/bin dir? wsconfig.exe.
If your server is listed, remove it and re-add it again.
Let us know how you get on.

As I was loading a downloading a word processing application Firefox got "supplanted by "BING" as my homepage, so I need help to return Firefox as my homepage instead of "BING"!

As I was downloading a word processing application I made sure I Unchecked ANY boxes that asked me to change my homepage or my default web browser to something "other than what it already was". But when all was said and done I suddenly have "BING" as my homepage AND default web browser, even after going through my program files and "uninstalling" any programs that have anything to do with "BING or START NOW" which are the ONLY identifying markers on the new page! I have restarted my computer several times and the "new evil page" will not change back to Firefox!

The problem is absolutely not Reader. The problem is that FireFox has stepped in front of Reader and handles all the PDF stuff - wrongly in your case. FireFox is DESIGNED to take over PDF files. But it is not capable of doing IRS forms!
To start with go back to IE for these forms. When you save them to disk DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THEM until this is fixed. Just open the in the normal way - start Adobe Reader and use Open from the File menu.

As of yesterday I cannot download pdf files. Instead I get a pop up box that says CONVERT and gives me dozens of programs. How do I just download without this box stopping me?

Is it possible to download files individually ,instead of all together, while selecting multiple files to download.

i want to download multiple files , but some of the files are very large and i don't want to sit at my computer all day waiting to unpause or pause downloads so that the files will download faster . i was wondering if there was a option to download files individually instead of all together. when they download together it can sometimes cause problems because my internet will restart and go to a slower data speed at different times of day. this causes files to be incomplete sometimes and sometimes have to be started over completely. so is it possible to have a downloading list that manages itself and puts downloads on hold until a previous file downloads?

You are probably limited by the speed of your download line. Consider possibly doing this overnight. The speed may be faster off peak and you will be able to leave the computer unattended.
Any possibility of getting compressed versions of the files to download ? Alternatively consider looking for specialised download management software. You could even probably use your Operating System and schedule the tasks with that.

I can not resume any type file downloading process.how can i do this?

If it fails using WiFi, try using iTunes on your computer to update the iPad or use another WiFi network at a friends house or a library, Starbucks, anywhere where you can connect to the Internet.
Or try rebooting your router and the iPad. Unplug your router from power for about 30 seconds, plug. It back in and the reboot the iPad and try again over WiFi.

Why does firefox load "file.avi" instead of the actual file i want to download?

I tried downloading files on megaupload, netload, hotfile but when I hit download it loads "file.avi" instead of the actual file.

File downloads as an application instead of opening properly

I have been experiencing a few problems with my macbook pro 2006
The files download as applications instead of opening properly most of the time, these files are for school, such as word documents and powerpoint presentations, I usually download them from a website or e-mail, it always says it is an application and does not let me open it on the mac, so I go find a PC, but now something screwed up with the PC too, so I can't get any of my school assignments.
My mac also will not allow me to put video from a sony hard drive camcorder, which is a pain because I have editing to do and PC programs are not as good as final cut pro.

I tried it again, and this time when I resumed it lost about 10Mbytes, so I guess this means that the app store downloader saves its data every 10MBytes.
I will try downloading the whole thing again(XCode4) and just hope that this time I can get the whole download before it decides to wipe out what it has already downloaded.

How do I force a hyperlinked file to download instead of opening a preview of the file?

When I hyperlink a file, (pdf, txt, etc) it opens a preview of the file rather than just starting the download, I am wondering how to accomplish this.
Example of what I am looking to do....

When you click "Download Chrome" it opens a window asking if you want to download, then when you click yes it downloads the file.
I would like to do exactly that or force the download immediately without the pop up dialog box.

Issue with File Download(messageDownload) on Search Page.

Hi,
I created a custom OAF search page which fetches values from one table. The document in getting stored in my custom table in a BLOB colums and NOT in FND_LOBS.
The table has 3 collumns along with others:
1st is primary key (Record_Seq) ==> number data type
2nd to store actual file name (File1Name) ==> varcahar2 data type
3rd to store the actual uploaded data (File1Data) ==> BLOB data type
The reason for having the “File1Name” is so that I can display the original file name of the document that was uploaded, instead of just the “view” in the search page results .
On the File1Data BLOB and created a messageDownload for that under query results table with following details:
ID : File1Data
ItemStyle : messageDownload
FileMIME Type : pdf
Datatype : BLOB
View Instance : LacEmpExposureVO1
view Attribute : File1Name
File View Attribute : File1Data
When I click on the "File1Name" data hyperlink, it is opening only the first document corresponding to the first record in the search page results.
For example, If my search page returns 10 rows then when I click on the file1name on any row, It is open the first row file name only.
I have a primary key column(RECORD_SEQ) in the Table / EO / VO which is displayed in the search page results.
Also one weird thing is happening:
If I try to do this more than 2 times then it is opening the update page with the first record from the search page results…
I tried to print the context and it is nul the first time, But the second time then context is changing to "update". Dont know how this is happening????
Any advice is greatly appreciated as it is very crucial for me to get this resolved ASAP. I have looked at several forums and did a lot of things as advised in the forums . But nothing seems to work for me.
