Configuring roles and users (adf security) application context wise.

Dear All,
I referred this tutorial (http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/12/using-database-tables-as-authentication.html) which shows how to hook up adf security with database schema but at domain level which will be common to all applications in that domain. I want to make it different to each application. (i.e each application will use differene database schema for storing user credientials i.e enterprise roles,application roles and users.)
Can any one please point me to proper way..

Santosh

Dear Frank,
<i>
Instead you have a single identity management system and have the application policies being different for the applications.Using ADF Security, users and groups can have different privileges in different applications
</i>
suppose i have 3 applications that use adf security, the users will be common to all applications. right..?Roles and group can be different for applications.
application polices means roles and group..?
So how it(application polices) can be made different for applications? is it inbuilt or some configurations needed ?. Can you point me to some blogs or tutorials for more reference.
Bet: Incase i hook up adf security with database schema.
Regards,
Santosh.

  • How to configure roles at runtime without changing application code?

    Hi,
    We have implemented Custom Login Module security for our application. Our requirement is to configure the roles without changing the application code.
    Our Authentication Type is 'JAAS With Custom Login Module' and Authorization Type is 'JAAS'.
    According to 10.1.3 section of JhsDevGuide1013.pdf, we need to configure the roles in web.xml and also need to give the role in the 'Authorized roles/permissions' section of the group.
    We dont want to change the application definition once we go live just for adding roles. That is overhead for us as we may need to configure more roles according to our business requirements, but each time we dont want to change the code and re-deploy the application.
    Please let us know the way to meet our requirement.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    The JHeadstart Developers Guide has an excellent chapter about security to answer questions like these.
    For example, you could use the JHeadstart based custom security, with datatables, that will enable you to add roles and users at runtime.

  • Export/import login server and user grup security

    Hi,
    I followed the instructions to export Login server, user group
    security using the ssoexp.csh, secexp.csh. Then I imported the
    login server, and user group security using the ssoimp.csh,
    secimp.csh .
    I then logged into Portal and check the users, all the users are
    imported properly. However, I didn't see any group that are
    supposed to be imported. Do I missing anything?
    The syntax to run the secimp is as follows:
    secimp.csh -s portal30 -p portal30 -o portal30 -m reuse -d
    sec.dmp -c target_database
    The import finished w/o error. How can I see the groups in the
    new portal instance that I tried to import objects in?
    I noticed that the wwsec_group$ in the source area is over 3000,
    and in the target the count is only 10, which is the number of
    group I have before the import. But during the export, I don't
    see the wwsec_group$ table being exported, is that the problem?
    P.S. versions are: 9iAS 1.0.2, portal version 3.0.9.8 on solaris.
    Thanks;
    Kelly.

    This question is best suited to the Oracle9iAS SSO and Portal Security forum.

  • Is it possible to export and import the roles and users tables?

    Hi,
    is there any possibility to export and import the role and user definitions?
    We have a SAP MDM repository with a lot of roles and users and also with a lot of changes.
    And now I'm searching for a fast and efficient way of managing the roles and users.
    Thanks and Regards, Melanie

    Hi Melanie,
    There is no export/import functionality for roles and users.  The only way to manage these in an automated way would be to write a program that uses the Java or ABAP APIs.  Both APIs expose functionality to create, update and delete roles and users.
    Hope this helps,

  • Table that stores the business role and user id mapping

    Hi,
    i want to know the table that stores the Business role and the business role and user id mapping in CRM system.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Pricy

    Hi Mary,
    There is no direct table but there is a way to find it.
    HRP1263 is the table where business roles are stored when maintained at org level. These are stored against the Position.
    For getting user ID and position linkage refer table HRP1001.
    In HRP1001 table use below criteria to get the User and Position.
    OTYPE = CP
    SCLAS = US
    SOBID = User ID
    ENDDA = 31.12.9999
    Get the OBJID
    Query the HRP1001 table again with following
    OTYPE = CP
    OBJID = OBJID from above Query
    ENDDA = 31.12.9999
    SCLAS = S
    SOBID = Thats Position.
    Pass the position to HRP1263 as below.
    OTYPE = S
    OBJID = POSITION
    PROFILE - Thats business role assigned for the given position and user.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Role based oracle adf security and filtering data

    while oracle adf security looks great its only role based... does anyone know of any resources describing an architecture where this is used in addition to filtering of data based on say, organization?
    it seems that oracle adf security is not really geared towards a self service app where administrative users have a security interface as part of the application where they can assign roles and associate users to entities for the further filtering of data...

    Hi,
    it seems that oracle adf security is not really geared towards a self service app where administrative users have a security interface as part of the application where they can assign roles and associate users to entities for the further filtering of data...
    ADF Security is a JAAS based security implementation to protect resources (like entities). It is nota security provider like OPSS or OID which you can use for user provisioning and self service (if you code against the IDM APIs). ADF Security only checks for whether a user is authenticated and if the user has the permission to perform a task.
    However, you can use groovy to access the security context from Groovy, which allows you to add the authenticated username to a query - for example to filter recrds out that match the username in one of its attributes.
    For example, you could create a ViewCriteria that for example filters the query by a specific attribute. Say that managers can see data starting from department 10 whereas employees can see data starting from department 100. The ViewCriteria would reference a bind variable with the following default setting
    adf.context.securityContext.isUserInRole('manager')? 10 : 100

  • Jdev 10.1.3.1 "ADF Security": Application without a custom login page?

    Hi,
    We are trying to develop an application using "ADF security", which means we can give permissions to certain roles based on "Binding Container", "Iterator Binding", "Method Action Binding" and "Attribute-level Binding".
    After reading the document -- "Oracle® Containers for J2EE Security Guide 10g (10.1.3.1.0) B28957-01" that Frank pointed out. We have a question:
    Can we develop an ADF application without creating a custom login page? Right now we've followed the security guide and modified the configuration files. But when we run the application, we get the "user null" error message. The reason is clear because we do not have a login page. On the security guide, it says that it is possible to use the oracle default login module. But it does not say how. Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks,
    Annie

    Brenden,
    Thank you so much for the reply. This is our code in the web.xml:
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    <realm-name>default</realm-name>
    </login-config>
    We are using HTTP basic Authentication. This technique worked for the container-managed security. The browser default login page pops up when the end users try to log into a secured JSP. But here we want to use "ADF security" to set up "Iterator binding" and "Attribute level binding" security. The browser default login page does NOT show up. Instead we get the "user null" error message.
    If you have detailed step on how to select HTTP Basic Authentication, it would be very helpful to us. Or if you know any document has the detail.
    regards,
    Annie

  • Interaction of BW Roles and BWA Explorer Security

    We secure all our BW users via roles these roles have Analysis
    authorizations embedded in them which restrict access to specific
    infoproviders and values in these based on authorization relevant
    infobjects.
    When we try to create a BWA Explorer object in RSDDTPS we are forced to
    assign a userid and an analysis authorization directly in
    the "Authorizations" tab. Our security group only wants to have too
    assign roles to users either via SU01 or CUA.
    Configuration
    BO 2008 Enterprise Server (connected to BW system)
    BW system (Netweaver 7.01 EHP1)
    BWA 7.2
    1) How can we create BWA Explorer objects on a infoprovider without
    directly assigning users in Authorization Tab and how can we make the
    system ignore whatever is on this tab and base access to a BWA explorer
    object on the roles assigned to the user via SU01/CUA.
    2) If a User has roles assigned in BW that give them access to a
    specific infoprovider will this automatically also give them access to
    a BO Server published BWA explorer object built on that infoprovider.
    Related to this do we also need import the same roles and assign to the
    user in CMS server with link to BWA Explorer Server or does the user
    automatically get access to BWA Explorer as long as BWA Explorer is
    published on BO Server.
    3) If the user in BW is assigned roles that limit values based on an
    authorization relevant object is this restriction enforced in the
    values returned in published BWA Explorer for the user. Example
    Authorization Relevant object is Profit Ctr and the user has two value
    roles one contains access to all profit center that role up to a
    hierarchy node limited to the USA and the other contains hierarchy
    analysis authorization limiting access to all profit centers rolling up
    to hierarchy node representing Europe. When a user access's the BWA
    Explorer object which contain profit ctr will the values be limited
    only to USA AND Europe Profit centers or will the BW value based
    security be ignored.
    Please provide advice on above questions and document resources on how
    BW role based security interacts with BWA Explorer.

    Hi Expert,
    I need a solution for same scenario, anyone can give inputs.

  • Role and User not listed

    Previously I had created a role and added a user. The user
    waited several weeks to try to login and now is receiving a message
    that his role is no longer valid. When I login to administer the
    site his role is not listed and when I re-created the role I can't
    add him because his name is 'grayed' out and indicates that he is
    currently assigned to the previous role.
    Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix it?

    When selecting "Database", a Planning Create will create (or recreate) the Planning application in Essbase. This will erase any Planing supporting detail, account annotations, etc. It will also (IIRC) blow away the Essbase database.
    A Planning database refresh updates Essbase with metadata changes (if any).
    You know, I've never tried doing a Create->Security Filters.
    Now if you mean Administration->Manage Security Filters->Create -- that will just update the filters with whatever the latest and greatest dimensional security is. If you selected all of the filters, it is as if you did a Administration->Manage Database->Security Filters. The idea being you might want to target it if you have many users/large filters.
    I think the first time that user logs in you will see the username in the Administration->Manage Security Filters list.
    Going backwards, re your first question -- provision the username in SS with access to the Planning app (however you do that, groups, individually, etc.), and give him Essbase server access. Have him log in. All should be good to go.

  • Customised Oracle application and access to roles and users...please advise

    Hi Gurus!
    We are developing a customised Oracle application where we have users and roles...user - role mapping is done in the system administration module of the application.
    Now, we are also developing Oracle discoverer reports based on this. Using 10g (10.1.2.0.2) for that.
    When I am creating an EUL, I select 'New EUL for Oracle Applications users only' option, but, I do not have any 'FND schema' to specify. That's where I'm stuck up!
    I want to give access to the 'roles' in tha same manner as I would give to the 'responsibilities' in Oracle Apps. But, I don't know how to do it here.
    Can someone guide me on this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Aparna

    Hi Aparna
    It would appear that you posted the same question on the Discoverer forum. Here is the answer that I posted there:
    If your application is not E-Business Suite you cannot install Discoverer into Apps mode. This mode is reserved for applications which are E-Business Suite, which basically tells Discoverer to use authenticate users using the FND tables owned by the APPLSYS user.
    In your case, even though you appear to be using Oracle applications, because you want to take advantage of your roles you will have to install Discoverer into standard mode. As you are creating your EUL you need to uncheck the box which says grant access to PUBLIC and make this a private EUL. Then you will not have the headache of worrying about setting up new users. You simply manage what a role can do (Tools | Privileges) and what a role has access to (Tools | Security).
    Now, when any any user connects to Discoverer their role will be evaluated and access will be restricted.
    You can do the same thing using a PUBLIC EUL, except you need to reduce what that user can do (Tools | Privileges) to an absolute minimum, and then take control of this using roles. For example, you could have a set of functional roles, one each for say AP, AR, GL and so on, but you could further break this down by privilege, thus you could have roles called AP Viewer, AP User, AR Viewer, AR User and so on. The User roles would have full access while the Viewer roles would have a much reduced set of privileges.
    You are basically setting up the Library approach that I discuss in my Discoverer 10g Handbook and in my white paper which you will find on my downloads page here: http://learndiscoverer.com/downloads/downloads.htm.
    I hope this helps

  • Provisioning EP roles and user groups through CUP

    Hello experts,
    I am configuring EP provisioning through CUP.
    I created the EP connector as per the instructions in the config guide. But I have not added any parameter values or did any field mapping. I have imported necessary Portal roles.
    My EP connector is tested successful. But when I try to provision a role through CUP, I get this error:
    Error processing your request, Request no: 4 in stage : NEW_AS11.
    In the log it shows,  Field Mapping is not set for Application  (EP)
    But when I go to field mapping, I get this error for EP.
    Data retrieval from system XP1 failed : com.virsa.ae.service.ServiceException: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxm.soap.accessor.NestedSOAPException: Unable to create message from source.
    I could not find much documentation on fieldmapping.
    Are there any steps that I am missing for EP provisioning?

    Thanks for your response.
    I have set up the parameters while setting up the EP connector in CUP.
    My role search URI is correct  but I am not sure about the last three parameters...
    ASSIGN_GROUPS:OC sapgroup
    ASSIGN_ROLES:OC saprole
    CHANGE_USER:OC sapuser
    CREATE_USER:OC sapuser
    CREATE_USER:password password
    DELETE_USER:OC sapuser

    ROLESEARCH_URI -  http://portalserver name:port number/UserRoleSearchForAEService_5_3/Config1?wsdl&style=document
    ROLESEARCH_URI_USERNAME -  same user Id I provided for the connector
    ROLESEARCH_URI_PASSWORD See your system administrator for the value.
    UNLOCK_USER:OC Sapuser
    UNLOCK_USER:islocked false
    ROLE_DATA_SOURCE -- ROLE.UME_ROLE_PERSISTENCE.un:   ??? What  is the role data source?? Is the value that is  provided is correct for the UME roles
    SCHEMA_ID SAPprincipals   ?? What does this Schema Id mean???
    USER_DATA_SOURCE  ????  Should we mention the user data source on the Portal system. In our case, it is the LDAP. But what would be the corresponding parameter value for LDAP.
    So when I go to field mapping to create one for EP, I get the following error:

  • Web login (JSP, Servlet) with roles and users list stored using db4o

    Dear all,
    I would be grateful if someone of you (the masters out there) could help me with the build of an application where the first page will be a login page.
    The users will be devided in 3 categories (user, editor, administrator) and there member information will be saved in db4o database.
    If the user has not been registered in the past then a registration page should come up allowing him to be registered and keep his details in a db4o database on the same site.
    I am using JSEE8 and the site will be sent to a Tomcat server on the net.
    Please please please HELP

    I am giving some code for to redirect as the user is, But before that you have to made a extra coloumn "role" in your security table. and put admin, user as respective roles.
    doPost(HttpReq...........)
    String user = req.getParameter("UserName"):
    String pass= req.getParameter("Password");
    Then Connect the database with ur code ie class.forName etc
    String sql= "Select * from security_table where Username= ' "+user+" ' and Password= ' "+pass+" ' ";
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs= stmt.exequteQuary(sql);
    if(rs.next)
    String S1=rs.getString("Username");
    String S2= rs.getString("Password");
    String S3= rs.getString("Role");
    if(S1.equals(user) && S2.equals(pass) && S3.equals.(admin)){
    req.sendRedirect(http:// full path name of the page)
    else if( S1.equals(user) && S2.equals(pass) && S3.equals.(user))
    req.sendRedirect(http:// full path name of the page)
    }else
    req.sendRedirect(http:// full path name of the Error page)
    }
