Is this what you have:
Folder_1/File001
Folder_1/File002
Folder_1/...
Folder_1/File114
Folder_2/File001
Folder_2/File002
Folder_2/...
Folder_2/File114
Folder1 is source and Folder2 is destination.
Now you would like to move Folder_2/File001 to Folder_2/File001.backup and then copy Folder_1/File001 to Folder_2/File001?

  • Bridge CS4 freezes when I open a folder with avi files

Whenever I navigate to a folder with avi files, Bridge CS4 freezes. I have tried resetting my preferences, changing the file associations, but it still hangs. Both Windows and Bridge are set up to associate avi files with VLC Media Player. The files open and play just fine in VLC. I am running CS4 on a Win XP Pro machine. It used to not be a problem and I could play avi files in Bridge. I'm not sure when the problem started since I don't shoot a lot of video. Any ideas?

  • Create folder with multiple files (was: folders)

Can you create a folder with multiple files and direct the page to go to the folder and then the reader can select the file they wish to choose?  Example  Council Mintes Folder with a file for each set of minutes.  The hyperlink would open the folder and then the reader would select whch set of minutes they'd like to see.

You may not have access to it depending on your hosting company and  plan, but if you did have the ability to change it you'd normally do it in the admin area of your hosting account which would update the proper files on your server.
You may also be able to do it manually, but the "how to" depends on the server type you are running.
EDIT: I'd still suggest using a server script (like the PHP I linked to) because the look of a directory with browsing turned on is pretty ugly and can't be changes since it's not a page on your site. With the PHP I linked to, you could have an actual page for your links, complete with your site's design, that simply lists the files from the specified directory. It's very simple to set up if you have PHP on your server.

We updated the Kernel to the latest, but still no luck.

  • MPEG folder with .m2v files after build required?

When you build a project, I noticed the folder MPEG being created. does DSP create an MPEG folder with .m2v files?
Now, do you need this folder even after you BUILD the project. I don't understand why, the build folder is nearly 3GB as it is?

If there is a chance that you will have to make changes to your project, you should keep it.
Otherwise you can throw it out.

Why do we have to install 2 add ins for something that should be built in? Please add this to the next version or an update to this one even. We should see the full path of a bookmark when we search for it. Show Parent Folder alone isn't enough if you have sub folders, so I installed Go Parent Folder as well in case of sub folders.

    All Experts,
I am new to indesign and javascripting. i need to copy the folder with files (structured folder) from one location to another location with the same folder name. i tried the file copy file.copy(), this is copying only particular file, i need to copy the folder with structured format. ie folder, if any sub folder...
    Thanks,

Sorry for the delay in response.
I assume both sagkrish and Mac_06 are either the same person or working together?
    When you said:
when we execute your code it's showing error "cannot compile the script".
were you trying after fixing the missing double-quote (my post of 1:42am)?
If not, maybe one of the Windows folks could better advise. The official Microsoft help for XCOPY is http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/xcopy.mspx? mfr=true that might be differently helpful than Jongware's link, which is good, too.
I can't quite tell if you're having a problem if you run the XCOPY command from the CMD.EXE Windows Command Prompt. If you are, well, it's not really an InDesign scripting question, but maybe we can help you anyhow. But you'll need to give us a lot more specifics on what is breaking. Does it work with other directories? Are there network filesystems involved? Are the source and destination directories outside of the running user's home folder?
If you're having problems overwriting files, you might try adding /R.
(Does anybody else want to test it?)

  • Copy Folder with Joins. Export/Import Folder with joins. In EUL.

Ok, I've got a custom folder which has been made up by dragging items from 2 or 3 other folders into it.
It then has some joins of it's own, quite a few.
When trying to create a workbook from it, it takes 9 mins to run a query.
I need to work out what is slowing it down. If I create the same workbook against the folder which has the majority of the items in the custom folder, it runs instantly.
So I suspect it is one of the joins causing it.
My plan was to duplicate the folder, then remove joins until I find out which one is causing it.
However, if I cut n paste the folder, I get a copy without the joins.
If I export the folder and import it I get a copy without the joins.
Question then - how can I get a copy of a folder WITH the joins ?
I'm slightly concerned that when I export my EUL from the dev database and import it into the live database that I'm not going to get any joins since the export and import into the dev database is not retaining the joins.
    Anyone ?

    Hi,
The preferences for Disco Plus are set in the pref.txt file on the apps server and for Disco Desktop in the Windows Registry. I think the defaults are set on so unless you have changed them this is unlikely to help.
I think I read somewhere that the 11g optimiser will remove unused outer joins or where there is a foreign key constraint. I may have made that last bit up as I cannot find a reference to it, but it may be worth exploring.
To speed things up you could look at why this join is slowing things down. It could be that you need an index on the join column.
The join actually is used, in that it has to check in the other table that a record exists. This is why Discoverer cannot remove the join from the complex folder query. If it did and there where no matching records in the other table then you would get a different result.

...and for your information, before you try to open them, you can find out what type they are by using the command "file <filename>". I hate it when I accidentally try to open a binary file in a text editor.

Can anyone tell me what the files are for in the Uninstall folder? The file path is: Library>Application Support>Adobe>Uninstall.
I have 192 files in there with all the extensions either .db or .js
    I don't get it.....please enlighten.
    Thanks

Those (tiny) files keep track of everything that has been installed and tell the Uninstaller what to remove.
If you delete them, the Uninstaller will be pretty much useless when you need it.

  • For some reason, my compression option is grayed out under "File" menu, and when I select a folder with multiple files, or multiple documents, and try to right-click or tap the mousepad with two fingers, I do not get a "compress" option available. Help.

I don't know why, but when I select a folder with multiple docs contained within it, or multiple files, the Compress option is grayed out under the File menu, nor is it available when I right-click. Please help.

Yes it is, but I have the same problem of the option does not appear with "right click" (I'm actually control-clicking), and COMPRESS is grayed out under the file menu. I'd like to fix it.
Hmm. After finding the Archive Utility,* I tried archiving the folder. It came out as .cpgz, ugh. Found there was a preference to make .zip the default. It worked!
And now…the menus are not grayed out. ?!?! OK.'
    Hope this helps someone.
*You cannot find this via search, apparently it is a hidden file, you have to click from the root drive through to /System/Library/CoreServices (Thanks for the file path Alberto!)

    Hello!
I would like to know how to open executable vi, made with Application
Builder, at windows [Win 2000] if I have file with specific extension [let's

I have seen some article at NI Developer Zone but I cat find that now.

Yes you can get the command-line args, but this only works when first launching the application. It will not work if the application is already running. For this, you need to message into the running application using some other mechanism. Most apps use DDE for this.
Here is a utility that will allow you to get the command-line arguments using a WinAPI call:
    http://www.openg.org/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Command Line Arguments
Also, if you are using LabVIEW 7.0 you can get the command-line arg's using the VI Server property "App::Command Line Arguments".

  • Powershell to create pop box which then creates a folder (with entered value) and sub folder with specific security

    Hi All,
Complete novice to powershell would love some help to assist a new windows storage workflow I am implementing.
I have a windows server 2012 file server (\\FS01) and projects share \\fs01\projects.
We use job numbers to create a project and name the folders with the job num (eg Job Num XX12345 , \\fs01\projects\XX12345)
Then after each project folder is created we will create 4 subfolders underneath and specify the following rights to the following AD groups.
Folder Name - AD Group- Permission
    Scoping - Project_Management -RW
    Delivery - Project_Management -R
    Finance - Finance- RW
    Assets - Creative - R
I would like to create a script that lives in the route of \\FS01\Projects and when clicked a pop up box appears, the end users enters the job code  and then the script sets up the folder with the entered value and creates sub folders with the referenced
    AD groups and security.
    Any help would be awesome!

Start by learning how to write PowerShell scripts.  What you are asking is a whole complex list of requirements.  This is a forum and not free consulting or training.
Workflows are complex beasts that require a good knowledge of PowerShell.  Now is the time to start your training.  I recommend starting with a good book and taking your time learning PowerShell step-by-step.
