Customer names with cyrylic characters are wrongly shown in Bex Analyser

Customer names with Cyrillic characters are wrongly shown in Bex Analyser. The master data is correctly maintained and extracted\loaded by BW for these customer (Master Data object is correct). This might be a Bex Designer issue.
Furthermore, it has nothing to do with the local settings, when copying the name of the customer to Bey Analyzer the name is correctly shown.

Hi,
We are facing the same problem with the turkish characters, Our system is BW 3.10 (3.30 Cont) and ECC 6.0. The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table level, but not at the RSRT or the Bex level.
The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table, RSRT and Bex level if we load the same record from the Non-unicode Prod system to the Non-unicode BW Dev system, but if we load from the unicode QA system the same record is not displaying correctly.
Has anybody got a solution for this issue
thanks

• File and directory names with Danish characters

I have installed the Novell Client v2.0 for Linux on my Open Suse 10.3. The Client is connecting to my Netware servers (6.0 & 6.5) without any problems...
There is one problem... Filenames and directory names with the Danish , & (ae, oe & aa), e.g the filename bger.doc (bger = books) is shown as b. and when clicking the file the file disappears from the file list. It seems to be the same problem with the German (umlaub).
What to do?
/Michael

As far as I know, the Novell Client for Linux expects that file and
directory names use the UTF-8 encoding and does not support a traditional
8-bit encoding like ISO 8859-1. Try changing the encoding of file and
directory names to UTF-8 as described in
SDB:Converting Files or File Names to UTF-8 Encoding - openSUSE

Seems a good hint. When I create a folder or file from within SUSE using an "Umlaut" everything is OK and NCL 2.0 displays them correctly as they are UTF-8 formatted.
The proposed tool is no solution: one cannot convert folders or files that one cannot see (does it work for folders at all?). Maybe a windows tool would work because one could search for all files or folders with "Umlaute" and convert them. Other options?

my issue is, if teh document library names are single words - like MOM, model, procedures etc this functionality is working fine and i am able to view the link to a document as an item.
but when the doc lib name contains special characters like , or / , this link to a document content type functionality is NOT working.
can anyone pls point me whether this is the actual issue ? ie, if the doc lib name contains special chars like , or / my

• Attachments with polish characters are not retrieved

Dear Experts,
when i try to retrieve attachments moved to DMS for a material document with Polish character, it says document not found.
steps:1. created attachments for a material document
2. moved the attachments to DMS.
3. When we try to retrieve it is failing.. giving KPRO error
When we debug. the Polish characters are converted to Normal characters and sent to DMS, When SAP tries to retrieve, DMS sending back the normal characters file, But SAP is not recognizing the file.
Eg. Ś is converted to - s, Ż is converted to- z
any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Janaki,
The originals will be retrieved only when the characteristics are defined with respective document type class. and it sholud appear in the additional data fields as a field for the documenty type.
The charactersitics apart from the document class can.t retrieve the documents.
I hope this will resolve the query.

• Does photoshop cs5 sdk support file names with unicode characters?

Hi,
For the export module, does the windows sdk have support for filenames with unicode characters?
The ExportRecord struct in PIExport.h has an attribute filename declared as char array.
So I have a doubt whether filenames with unicode characters will be supported for export module.
Thanks in advance,
Senthil.

SPPlatformFileSpecificationW is not available in ReadImageDocumentDesc.
It has SPPlatformFileSpecification_t which is coming as null for export module.
I am using phostoshop cs5 sdk for windows.
Thanks,
Senthil.

• Symbol characters are not shown correctly in webbrowser

Hello,
I have migrated my Forms 6i-application to Forms 11G R2 (11.1.2.0).
Most problems I have solved. But now I see that Symbol-Characters in boilerplate-text in Formsbuilder are shown correct, but in the web they appear as "translated". In my case the Omega is turned to W.
In the registry.dat I placed Symbol to be carried to Symbol because I read java could use Symbol.
But I am wrong.
Do you know what I must do to get the boilerplatetext shown in the rigth way?
Thanks in advance.

• Need help in setting file name with special characters in attachment

Hi
We have a requirement where we need to set the file name that contains special characters (like Russian) and send mauil using Java mail.
If we set the file name as such, the attachment in the email contains garbled filename
Can you pl let me know how to resolve this?
We should use the file name as attachment name and this will have say special characters. The receiver who gets the mail should get with the correct attachment name
One important point.. the attachments are opened from MS outlook.
Thanks and regards

Read the FAQ carefully. You don't need to call encodeText unless you're using a really
old version of JavaMail.
And, it depends on whether the mail reader you're using is handling encoded parameters
according to the (new) MIME standard, or according to the (old) non-standard hack.
Sadly, without knowing what mail reader the recipient is using, it's impossible to use
encoded filenames that will work everywhere.

• Colours in 'Print with Preview' window are wrong

I am using Photoshop CS on a Mac G4 (PPC) with OS X 10.4.11.
I usually use 'Print with Preview' to print photographs. I used to get good results, but something seems to have changed (or I have accidentally changed a setting somewhere). When I open an image in Photoshop, the colours on my monitor (which I regularly calibrate) look right. But when I go to 'Print with Preview', the image shown in the small layout window is now much darker, reds are more brown and in general the colours look quite wrong. And what is even worse is that when I print, the results match the wrong colours in the Preview window and not the correct colors that I see when I look at the image directly in Photoshop.
I attach a screenshot, showing (on the left) a colour test image opened directly in Photoshop CS and (on the right) how it looks in the Preview window.
Can anyone suggest what may have gone wrong? I should be very grateful for suggestions.

The words that helped [me] the most to understand Photoshop color management theory are:
Color Management starts with a good monitor profile (to PROOF the color accurately on the monitor), and Color Management ends with a good target profile to PROOF the color accurately on the print.
The file (the document's Source Color Space) is independent of Photoshop:
The Color Management System CMS, Photoshop, ONLY uses the monitor profile for one thing: To PROOF source file on the monitor (the monitor profile has zero to do with how the file prints).
The Color Management System CMS, Photoshop, ONLY uses the printer (target) profile Print Space for one thing: To PROOF source file on the paper (the printer profile Print Space has zero to do with how the file looks on the monitor).
+++++
While this simple PROOFING ANALOGY doesn't address the pitfalls of relying on a bad monitor to evaluate and adjust digital color, it does make two important facts about Photoshop and professional color-managed printing workflows:
1) The printer can PROOF (print) the source file faithfully regardless of how right or wrong the monitor is set up, and
2) The monitor can PROOF (display) the source file faithfully regardless of how right or wrong the printer is set up.
Getting a known good file (like the Adobe RGB—or better yet the ProPhoto RGB—PDI Photodisc-GettyImages RGB reference image) into Photoshop allows me to evaluate the monitor alongside the print to help me identify where the problem is occurring.
+++++
BTW, thank you for the helpful and solved hits.

• Properties with special characters are not transfered to system properties

A property which contains a special character like % or (o with 2 dots above) will not passed to system properties in java 1.5.0_16.
This was working with java 1.5.0_06.
Example
Jnlp:
<property name="test.fail" value="Mller"/>
<property name="test.works" value="Moller"/>java:
System.getProperty("test.fail") = null
System.getProperty("test.works") = "Moller"The Jnlp is correct encoded in UTF-8
Are there any ideas?
regards

<property name="test.fail" value="M%ller"/>

• Normal string ASCII characters are not shown after using string reversal.

In a VI that I have written, there is a point where I take a simple 5 character string and input it to a reverse string node. I also have an indicator on the output of the reverse string node so I can look at the reversed string. Both the input and output indicators are in normal display mode. For the input indicator I can see the input string with no problem. But on the indicator at the output of the reverse string node I see nothing. If I then put each of the indicators in HEX display mode, both indicators display the hex equivalent characters of the original ASCII characters, and the output indicator shows the characters reversed from that of the input indicator, as expected. So why when I am in normal display mode, are the characters in the output indicator not showing up? Thanks.

What are the ASCII values that you are trying to display? Perhaps they are non-printable ASCII values.
Perhaps you can post a simple VI with the values in a string control and saved as a default.
EDIT: After seeing Rod's message, that seems very likely, especially considering that there is likely an EOL character if you are doing serial communication with some other device.

• INX file has trouble linking to folder names with certain characters?

Hi!
For technical reasons we have two folders and they have ”%0” at the end of their names.
This seems to case problems for InDesign files that are saved using the interchange (INX) format – upon opening they complain about links to pictures that are in these folders. I can see that the links point to ”Logotypes” and ”Illustrations” when they should point to ”Logotypes%0” and ”Illustrations%0”.
Anything that can be done?
The links work fine when opening a ”normal” InDesign document that point to these folders.

Hey Bob and thanks for your reply!
Sounds like a good ideas, but what shall I change it to? In the .inx file I opened the path is ”correct” with the ”%0” at the end.
I noticed now the problem is when opening the .inx file in InDesign 6 (CS4).
The .inx file is created in InDesign 5 (CS3) and when opening it in InDesign CS4 the link problem with these folders occurs.
If I open the .inx files in InDesign CS3 there's no problem with the links.

• Want Portal Table Names with Page/Content Area Names

Which PORTAL30 tables have info on the OWNER, APPLICATION, PAGE,
and CONTENT AREA for each of these objects (display names as
well as internal names). I need this to generate a script for
often-run portal export/imports. Thanks.

Yuk,
It sounds like you might have changed your configuration (Java path or something?) during the installation. It would be best to ask this question in the PDK forum.
