Display randomly becomes too big

We have a new iPad mini in the family and we are owners of multiple Apple products.  There is a problem we do not know how to fix.  At what seems like random times tapping on the keyboard makes the over all display become huge!  And basically unusable as those icons/areas that go out of view are inaccessible.  Rebooting fixes this but it keeps happening.  Please help!
And thanks.

Check to see what Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom is set to, and if it's currently set 'on' then turn it 'off' - with it 'on' double-tapping the screen with 3 fingers zooms the screen in/out. Also check what Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home is set to (potentially a triple-click of the button can also zoom in/out)

  • The display on my screen has become too big.  I've tried adjusting the screen size and the zoom isn't set.  Can anyone help?

    I have an iMAC 7.1 running OS X  10.6.8.
The display has become too big for the screen.  I've looked at the zoom and it is turned off.  I've tried adjusting the pixel setting (currently 1920 * 1200) to no effect.
The bar at the top of the screen is elongated, and I can't see the time in the top right hand corner.
This is affecting everything I lookmat, the dock in the bottom doesn't show until I bring the mouse down (hide dock is off).
I have no idea what caused this and I can't fix it.
Does anyone have idea what the problem is and how to fix it?
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

No wheel, it's a magic mouse.
    Tried safe start.  No difference.
The dock and the icons are off the bottom of the screen.
I I have finder open and move the cursor to the right to show the time, I lose finder / file /edit from the overhead banner.
Still no closer to solving it.

  • 720p display resolution is too big for tv

I recently got the kanex hdmi adapter to hook my mbp to my tv. The quality is superb and sound is good as well. However, the picture is slightly too big for my size of television. I had to select the 720p option so that my tv could recognize my computer and therefore, I cannot select any other option if I want my tv to recognize my computer via hdmi. Is there any possible way to still be able to hook my computer with my kanex adapter and still be able to fit the full picture on my tv screen?

Not sure if you fixed this problem but my Sanyo has a Pixel shape button that I accidentally pressed somehow. Somewhere in your T.V. remote or menu should have the same type of button or menu option to change the way your pixels are layed out.
This option will give you a 4x3 option, a 16:9 option and a few 16:9 zoomed variants.
It's probably not in your OS X settings. You have accidentally switched your pixel shapes.

  • Backup files on PC becomes too big, how to delete files not needed and where to delete them?

I used iTune to manage iPhone and iPad. iTune will back up content of both devices. I found that recently the backup files become too many and used up a significant amount of my PC harddisk. How do I go about to delete old backup files to release harddisk space? Thanks.

Backups for iPods, iPhones, and iPads are fairly small in size... 60-70mb approximately.
I seriously doubt they are filling your hard drive or using a significant amount of space.
You can remove backups via iTunes
    Edit > Preferences > Devices
Select the backup or backups and delete them.
Here's the Apple support article about backups: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766

  • Display unaccountably gets too big for the screen

This has happened maybe a dozen times, and I don't know what I did to make it happen. Suddenly, the desktop display gets too large for the screen, and I have to scroll around to find the dock or the menu bar. Whatever else I'm working on, e-mail, etc., gets outsized, too. Does anyone know how to correct this? So far, restarting has worked, but that's a pretty time-consuming way to do it.

    Cindy,
Hold down the CNTL key and scroll down with the mouse or trackpad. That should change it back to size. This is called screen zoom.
    Cheers
You can also deactivate it in System Preferences for the Mouse and/or trackpad.

  • The pages become too big for the screen on Macbook pro

    Hello,
Yesterday I was watching a movie on amazon.com using my Macbook Pro (retina display if it helps). I connected it to my TV via HDMI and put it on full screen. After the movie I was too lazy to tidy up and went to sleep. This morning, when I opened it, on the 'safari' ( I don't know if its the same name in english because my computer is in french) and battle.net have 1/3 of the page is outside the borders of it horizontally and vertically. I also feel that everything is bigger. I tried restarting it or closing the pages and opening them again but it doesn't work. Please help    me because I use my laptop for everything I do and I need it as soon as possible. Please excuse any spelling mistakes.

Sorry I found what the problem was but I can only explain in french, you have to go to 'preferences system' then to 'Moniteurs' and click on 'Optimal (retina).

  • 30" display screen images too BIG

I am aware of changing resolutions in the display area of system prefs.
I have read that some people have this issue, that their computer does not go up to the resolution it needs. My screen is awesome... but it looks like I am looking at everything through blurry magnifying glass.
I bought it for my macbook pro, that has not arrived yet, so I am using it with my (older) G4 and the resolution only goes to 1280 x 800, I did order the dvi to video adapter for the for the macbook, but will this resolve my issue on this computer? If not, is there any sort of adapter cable I can get, it will be awhile before I purchase another computer... so I'd like to make this work for both. Thank you.

So there is no adapter I can get to use with it? I kind of figured that once I went through everything.... to bad apple doesn't inform people of that before such a purchase!!!! On the description it says "PowerBook G4 with dual-link DVI support", so I bought a cable.... I am not a techy, so this should be made REALLY clear for a monitor that is just under $1800!

  • Canvas becomes too big when generating tabs on a content canvas

I want to generate the following layout:
    <New content canvas> block 1 height 15 width 80
    prompt: field
    prompt: field
    <New tab canvas page> tab 1 height 31 width 80
Multirecord block which is a detail of block 1
    <New tab canvas page> tab 2 height 31 width 80
Also MR block which is a detail of block 1
    Window height 46 width 81
Problem is that the height of the tab canvas pages becomes 46 and not 31, so the height of the window becomes 61. I've tried several options, als with view height and width, but it is always reproducable and wrong. And with every module I build with the same sort of layout.

When i'm not been able to get the right size i will add a pre-form-trigger and resize the object at runtime. It's saves me a lot of time instead of trying to instruct the generator to do so.
I'm always using the pre-form-trigger and not the when-new-form-instance-trigger because Headstart will do the initialization after the pre-form-trigger is fired and so it's taking the changes made in the pre-form-trigger into account.

  • Yikes - Display fonts are too big!!

I have a G6 iMac and all of a sudden the fonts on every page are huge. It seems like I am in some kind of zoom mode. Any clue how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Debby
    iMac G6   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. What
"page"? Is it only happening with web sites, or does
it happen everywhere? Is it just the text, or is
    everything zoomed?
If it's just the web, and you're using Safari, go to
its preferences, click the Appearance tab and change
the font sizes. If it's everything, go to System
Preferences and check the Displays settings
(specifically, make sure that the resolution hasn't
changed to a lower one) and the Universal Access
settings (which have a zoom mode).
If none of this fits, give us more details.
This happens in all applications and browsers....Safari and Firefox so it must be some kind of system setting. Checked Universal settings, font size is set to 12 pt. Geez, I am stumped. My Mac is an iBook but this new whopper is my sister's....

  • Why does pictures used as wallpaper on a previous gen 4 IPad become too big for my current gen 4 IPad?

After a refurb gen 4 iPad 32GB lost it's display, it was replaced. The current gen 4 IPad 32GB is running  version 7.1.2. The same pictures from the same source that were used for wallpaper on the old IPad, are "over zoomed" on this IPad. The attempts to "Move and Scale" when assigning to the lock or home page doesn't work and can't figure out if the "Perspective Zoom" is affecting anything. Attempts to save new and different pictures and use them as wallpaper results in the same "over zoomed" picture. Are there any fixes or adjustment to this predicament ?

Take a look at some of the "More Like This" posts below. It's explained in great detail in other threads already.

  • My display has gotten too big for the screen!  How to fix?

This is really strange. The tab bar at the top and the dock at the bottom don't both fit on the screen anymore. And when I move the mouse the whole screen shifts until it rests at its topmost or bottommost position. Same with left/right. There's about 4" of play in each direction. Very frustrating. Tried System Preferences but all the settings seem correct. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks,
    John

It sounds like you have accidentally activated zoom.
You can disable zoom in System Preferences->Universal Access preference pane->Seeing.

  • When I open my iPad the page is too big for the screen and won't shrink down. The keypad has also become very 'sticky'

Recently when I open any apps the pages are too big for the screen. They shrink when pinched but immediately become bigger again. It's very difficult to scroll too. The keypad has become very sticky. Missing letters and spaces when I type and needing to tap the keys much harder than usual

I have the exact same problem, I think.  I was on my iPad 3's home page swiping R-L to locate a certain icon when all of a sudden the screen appeared to get HUGE.  So big I could only see one or two icons.  I couldn't even turn it off to try a reboot because after I pushed the sleep/wake button, I couldn't find the red slide bar.  I finally just had to wait for the battery to die, then recharge it, and it looked normal again.  I also spoke with several friends who haven either iPads or iPhones, and they've all had this happen to them.  I checked my accessibility settings, and Zoom was already off.  So what is causing this problem for so many people, and what can we do to prevent it?  Please help.

  • Display is too big using my apple TV first generation

The display is too big for my screen. For instance I can't see the left most column of the keyboard.

Check you TV aspect ratio or zoom settings via the TV remote.

  • Display is too big, can't see the menu bar.

I have a 32" tv that i connected it to my mac pro. I see te display, but it is too big. I can't see the menu bar. I've tried changing the resolution, holding control and scrolling, and changing the display size on the tv settings. Any suggestions?

If there are no size settings on the TV that work (some TVs don't have the correct settings) see if there are Overscan or Underscan settings in the Mac's Displays system preference.
