• The document "Domain.Sites2" could not be opened

I upgraded to iWeb '08 last week, and it has been working OK since then.
My '06 sites were transfered to '08 sites - everything ok.
Until last night, when I tried to open iWeb '08 again...
I got this error message:

and

What I tried:
copy old domain.sites2 file to another folder
restart iWeb and created a new site.
iWeb worked fine with a new site.
When I replaced the package contents of the new domain.sites2 with the old and restarted iWeb - still the same error.
Basically I lost all of my website (including one business)
I really need to get it working again - otherwise it will costs me days to start over again...
Please help!

No, there's not a lot you can do. iWeb '08 has proved to be very unreliable at converting files etc. Go to...
http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070820100323784
... to find out more.
To get your old sites back in iWeb '06 would be the best way to go and then use iWeb '08 to build new ones a your leisure.
To try this you would have to delete iWeb '08 and reload iWeb '06. Then change the name of your domain.sites2 file back to domain.sites and double click it to launch your sites in iWEb '06.
Good Luck!

• Archived PDF could not be opened after downloaded to PC

Hi
I am using FM ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_TABLE to get archived PDF into internal table and then using METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GUI_DOWNLOAD to download this to PC.
Now when I try to open this PDF, it gives some error.  Error reads
Adobe reader could not open "file.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)
This was working fine in non unicode 4.7 system, but is not working after upgrade to unicode ECC 6.0 system.
The code is as follows,
*   Get document from archive
        CALL FUNCTION 'ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_TABLE'
          EXPORTING
            ARCHIV_ID                      = l_archiv_id
            DOCUMENT_TYPE                  = l_document_type
            ARCHIV_DOC_ID                  = l_archiv_doc_id
          IMPORTING
            LENGTH                         = l_sapb_length
          TABLES
            ARCHIVOBJECT                   = lt_tab
          EXCEPTIONS
            ERROR_ARCHIV                   = 1
            ERROR_COMMUNICATIONTABLE       = 2
            ERROR_KERNEL                   = 3
            OTHERS                         = 4.
       CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GUI_DOWNLOAD
          EXPORTING
            BIN_FILESIZE              = l_length
            FILENAME                  = l_filename
            FILETYPE                  = l_filetype
          CHANGING
            DATA_TAB                  = lt_tab
          EXCEPTIONS
            FILE_WRITE_ERROR          = 1
            NO_BATCH                  = 2
            GUI_REFUSE_FILETRANSFER   = 3
Do we have to change any parameters or anything for unicode system?

Is the filetype declared as 'BIN' in download?

• Broadband does not auto reconnect after power loss

I have a D-Link DSL-302G ADSL modem and Netgear AC1900 on an  Eaton Powerware 5110 UPS. When there is power loss or brown out in our neighbourhood , our internet goes off and  does not reconnect automatically. I then have to physically turn off the Netgear Router and turn back on to get the Green LED  Internet light back on.  The modem seems unaffected, but it is bridged so my router controls the connection process. Now this is what has me puzzled - my devices never lose power because of the UPS, and the router connection mode is set to "always on" , and Internet IP address is set to "Get Dynamically from ISP" Is it the local Telstra exchange dropping all connections when swithcing to battery backup, and then disrupting the normal connection process for the Router upon power resume ? Can you confirm what happens, or are there some tests I can do? This is very inconvenient as I run a terminal server, and not in the office all the time to reboot the router.

Hi Melior,
Normally, if there was a loss of power at your premises but not at the exchange then once the power was restored your modem should automatically reconnect (In this instance, a UPS should keep the modem powered up and connected).  If there was a loss of power at the exchange your modem should connect automatically once the exchange is powered back up.
So given the information that you have provided, I would suggest that you check your equipment.

• New Pages file could not be opened after Yosemite installation

I recently updated to Yosemite, but I'm using Pages 2009 version 4.3.  I installed all iWork updates after installing Yosemite.  After working on several Pages documents, after closing the documents, I was not able to open the files.  The error message read,

The required index.xml file is missing.
How can I open these files and fix this problem.

• Database could not able start after power shutdown

Daer all ,
Due to power failure , SAP XI PROD got down , then i have tried to start database , i got the below error .
ORA-00214: control file '/oracle/IXP/origlogA/cntrl/cntrlIXP.dbf' version 6070
inconsistent with file '/oracle/IXP/sapdata1/cntrl/cntrlIXP.dbf' version 6059
Kindly advise

Hi,
This happens as the control files in origlog and SAPDATA1 are not in shync.
Take a copy of the file '/oracle/IXP/sapdata1/cntrl/cntrlIXP.dbf' and then replace this with the file '/oracle/IXP/origlogA/cntrl/cntrlIXP.dbf'. Then try to start ur DB.
FYI: At any point of time all the control file in a DB should be in shync.
Good Luck!!!

• X4200 M2 not powering on after power loss

Hi,
I have an X4200 M2 server and when the power goes out and then comes back on it doesn't power the system on automatically. Is there a setting in the ILOM that controls this or do you have to go through the BIOS? The BIOS doesn't make sense since the management module is always on but I have seen where the BIOS allows this setting to be changed.
Thanks in advance!

It's absolutley scandalous that a company with Apple's resources can let this happen.  They should have staggered the release by region rather than opening the flood gates.  The upgrade itself took me about 10 attempts to download it, and then I thought I was home free.  That was until it rebooted and won't activate.  It's over 2 hours now.
Scandalous!

• How to open a Numbers doc after message "The document (name) could not be opened." is received?

I opened an Excel file with multiple worksheets by doubleclicking on it, saved it as a Numbers file and made lots of changes to it. Now I can't open it at all. All I get is the message "The document (name) could not be opened."
Any ideas?

It seems that your doc is corrupted.
Try to rename it from ********.numbers to ********.numbers.zip
then double click it
You will get a new ********.numbers file with the structure 'package'.
Try to open it by double-click.
Sometimes it works.

• I purchased and downloaded Acrobat Pro XI.  After the pop-up requesting the language I got a message "The installation package could not be opened.  Verify that the package exists..."

The full message was "The installation package could not be opened.  Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid Windows Installer package."

OK, I got around this error by extracting the files to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Acrobat XI"
Now I get a different error "1325.kstanwood is not a valid short file name".  I'm not certain why it's even trying to create such a file name.

• IPhoto9: "library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported."

Can please anyone help me with this issue.
After upgrading from iPhoto8 to iPhoto9 my library won't open anymore. I have stored all my pictures on a NAS (Buffalo Link Station Duo). It all worked fine but since upgrading to iPhoto9 I do have the following problem:
When opening iPhoto I receive a message that the library needs to be updated. I assume that iPhoto should just do this sort of automatically in order to upgrade to iPhoto9.However, next message I receive then is
"The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported."
Apple support so far does not seem to be able to solve my issue. Anyone else having had the same issue and having a solution to this?
Thanks a lot for your help.

There is no solution.
IPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.While you have been lucky to date, many folks with a library on a NAS found that it worked for a while and then the problems started.
Workaround: Put the Library on a Disk Image formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and store that on the NAS. But the real solution is to use a properly formatted disk for the Library.

• Error -10810 . the application Finder could not be opened

Hello
I recently (about 2 days ago) updated my early 2008 Mac Pro through the standard software update and since doing so my computer has begun acting like it wants to crawl into a hole and die.
There are a number of issues I have noticed. After using the computer for maybe 10-15 minutes I am no longer able to select any applications from my dock and when trying to access the finder it becomes unresponsive. I can then no longer open any programs and if I am lucky I might be able to close whatever curnent program I am using. Sometimes when I try to open a finder window I get the error message -10810 'The application Finder could not be opened'
for a while I could not empty my trash as well although that now seems to have passed.
image icons for some programs in my dock have vanished but when i hover over the space where the iconused to be the program seems to still be there.
I have no idea when my comptuer might freeze. sometimes it's within 10 minutes and other times it is within 1 minute of starting. It's so bad that since updating my mac 2 days ago I have not been able to shutdown the computer properly and have to hold the power button to turn off.
I have tried doing a disk utility verify and it does not seem to find anything wrong with my hard drive.
can anyone help. It's a pain lugging this thing to my nearest Mac store as I don't have a car.
I am using OSX 10.6.8
thanks

10.6.8 means you don't have a Recovery Mode and all the more reason to use CCC religiously to have bootable backups.
CCC can verify the file integrity of every file
It is harder to verify the integrity of every disk block or sector
10.6.8 does not run on PowerMac and Mac Pro is not one of those anyway (the POWER part is IBM or MOTO/Freescale G-series of computers, Mac Pro is "Intel Xeon Inside")
Overdue to a new boot drive. Never apply updates w/o a clone. Updates have gotten better. Lion or ML would provide more security, drops support for PowerPC and Rosetta though if you have to use older programs.
2008 uses FBDIMMs which even with their ECC can have problems (new FBDIMMs are cheaper, $60 4x2GB, better, run cooler, all of which helps). Garbage in / Garbage Out and same somewhat goes for disk drives too.
A good choice today is a SSD of 120-250GB for system ($90-170) and 1-2TB drive for media and data ($90-160)
And don't rule out your graphic card, still using the OEM 2600xt? 8800GT? good time and reason to upgrade.
Need a newer but not newest? OWC has 2009 4,1 starting at $880 used which are less trouble and handle Mountain Lion better. Yet to see what the requirements will likely be for 10.9 when it comes out later.

• LR 1.2 Photos could not be opened.

It was working fine. Then all of a sudden under the Library menu on the right tab Histogram and Quick Develop won't highlight, next under the Develop menu I get "the file could not be opened" and the right tab completely stays faded out. I the used TechTool Pro, permissions, LR optimization, restarted the computer and no luck.
Now I don't know if this has anything to do with it or just coincidence, but it all happened after I installed "iLife 08" and did an apple auto update for it.
Even so, I re-installed the LR 1.2 update still nothing.

"Sounds like a nasty Apple move, to me."
You could think so. But I think it is to minimize the support calls to apple support.
If you consider that the average iPhoto user might be far from a Mac Power User.
They probably don't care/know were their images are on the drive.
Maybe they shoot a couple of images every week, to a few hundred, all in jpeg. So it's no problem to make them fit on the local drive.
And if they only can access the image from inside of iPhoto once they have been imported they can't move them around or accidentally delete them in the Finder and wonder why they can't look at their images in iPhoto anymore.
