EBS reverse engineer table/view names
In SQL developer I connected to EBS and created some hierarchies from these tables - fnd_flex_value_hierarchies, fnd_flex_values_tl,FND_FLEX_VALUE_CHILDREN_V
Now I am using the trying to reverse engineer in ODI using the EBS knowledge module, but I can't find these tables.
...I was told by an EBS person I should be using the above tables to build my account hierarchy...is this correct? Or are there other tables I should be using?
Thank you,
Jz
Hi Frank,
I assume you imported your Table definitions from a DDL file.
Column datatypes appear in dialogs in the way you have described if Domains are set up during the import and the Columns are associated with these Domains.
You can change this by opening the Preferences dialog (select Preferences from the Tools menu) and selecting Data Modeler/DDL in the tree.
On the Data Modeler/DDL page of the Preferences you should unset the option "Create Domains During Import".

Sql developer not showing table/view names
I just set up a new machine, the database settings are same as in the old machine. But I cannot see the table/view names when expending the "+" sign before Tables or Views. When using "select * from tab", the result of all tables/views returns correctly. Is there any other settings I missed?
I'm using Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.5.The same issue exists in 2.1.1.64.39
All of a sudden: list of tables empty, views still viewable, tables are still there though.
In the logging window I get ora-904 messages on sys.o.name

What is the Table/View name for getting the Database Object Dependencies
I am running the Database Object Dependencies report to get the reference of Database Object and their respective Application Component.
Applications xxxx -> Application Reports -> Shared Components -> Database Object Dependencies -> Compute Dependencies
I want to develop a report for the same purpose, Just want to know what is the APEX Tables / Views they are using to run this report, so that I can use the same Tables to create my own report.
Thanks,
DeepakHi Andy,
when I am using the following query...I am not getting any result...
select name, type, owner
from all_dependencies
where referenced_owner = 'APEX_030200'
and referenced_name = 'WWV_FLOW_PATCHES'
AND OWNER= 'XXXXXXX' --- (addeed this to the where clause)
I modified the query.....I am getting the result.....
select name, type, owner
from all_dependencies
AND OWNER= 'XXXXXXX'
- But I am not getting which database object(table/view) is using which Application Page/Component like we have in Database Object Dependencies.
- Also what is this REFERENCE OWNER & REFERENCE_NAME ----
referenced_owner = 'APEX_030200'
and referenced_name = 'WWV_FLOW_PATCHES'
I am little bit confused, Can you pl expalin me in details......
Thanks,

ODI 11.1.1.6 unable to reverse engineer table
I created a new table and added it in the ODI repository. When I refresh the data I can see the number of rows changing so I presume that everything is ok with the connection and the driver.
The problem occurs when I try to reverse engineer columns, it prompts me to save the model and then nothing happens, I can't get the columns. I also tried with smaller table that had only one column but it still couldn't get the columns.Hi
In that time your model is opened, if yes close it and open your model and do reverse engine, still it is showing same issue close and open you ODI studio it will come. this issue will come very rare cases.

Mapping reverse engineered tables to entities
I would like to know how to 1) create the backwards links between tables created in Designer by importing DDL to logical entities in the ERD, 2) identify where in the Designer repository the information that shows up in the Entity.Description, Attribute.Description, Attribute.Notes, visible on properties sheet within RON, is stored
I'm actually not wanting to reverse engineer tables to entities, which is what I believe would be accomplished by the recommendation given. I am trying to establish links (basically, populate sdd_tabent) for tables that I have created by running DDL into Designer to entities that are already in Designer. The reason we are using the DDL, rather than forward engineering the table from the entities, is that there are enough differences from the logical to physical, and the DDL is being reused from an existing system.
I did find out the answer to my 2nd question. All text can be viewed via the cdi_text view; selecting by TXT_TYPE and ELEMENT_TYPE_FOR will give the combinations I was looking for -
Reverse engineering tables of different schema/user in oracle
Is it possible to reverse engineer tables of another user or schema in ODI if I have read permission on that schema?
for e.g. I created a data server connection to oracle db with username SE and I'm trying to reverse engineer tables of another user SW. SE has read permission on SW.
Is this possible?
Thank you for looking into this.It is possible if both users are in the same db and the other schema needs to be selected in the physical schema under topology.

Migration from Designer: wrong alias for used table/view in views
Hello,
I am using SQL DM version 3.3.0.744.
when importing a view from Designer, a query is build with aliases for the used tables/views which are the same as the table/view name. When using a where clause in Designer, you refer to the alias of the table/view, like t1.col1= t2.cola. Here t1 and t2 are the aliases of the underlying tables.
In Designer the following DDL is generated:
CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW VIEW5
(COL2
,COL1)
AS SELECT T2.COLA COL2
,T1.COL1 COL1
FROM TAB2 T2
,TAB1 T1
WHERE t1.col1= t2.cola
After importing the view in Data Modeler, the following DDL is generated:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VIEW5 ( COL2,
COL1 )
AS SELECT
TAB2.COLA COL2,
TAB1.COL1 COL1
FROM
TAB2 TAB2,
TAB1 TAB1
WHERE
t1.col1= t2.cola ;
So by using the wrong alias, the where clause is invalid and the query builder doesn't show the joins.
The solution for this is to use the alias of the used table/view instead of the table/view name. Can you raise a bug for this?
Thanks in advance,
JoopThanks for your time. I did all possible way, but still the same problem. I mean
EXP 8... IMP 8
EXP 8... IMP 9
EXP 9... IMP 9
Today I found that, NLS_LANG of two databases are different. Oracle 8i is : WE8ISO8859P1
AND Oracle9i is : WE8MSWIN1252
So I created a new database from scratch with Oracle 8i character set :WE8ISO8859P1 and then use imp9i to import the file. Still the same problem.

How to get the view name by passing the window name from table
Hi All,
would like to knew about the standard table from which we want to "retrieve the VIEW name by passing WINDOW name"
as we have standard tables like WDY_WINDOW, WDY_VIEW,WDY_APPLICATION but our ZComponent details
are not updated in this WDY_WINDOW table.
Is there any other table exists on the above condition
Regards
Jaipal.EHello friend,
There are many structure names started with WDY_WB_VC*where the details of the windows and views are stored just search those structures and see where its getting the tables in run time so that you can get the source tables.
I think this will be useful for you.
Thanks,

I need the "Real" Table / Table Column names from a sql view
Firstly, we have a system with ~1000 tables and ~250 views. We have field level security on the table columns (in our code)
Now we have a lot of views which select data from the tables, but I need to get the "Table Column Name" that is linked in the view.
I know there are view columns that is not linked to a specific table column, (or concatenation of columns) so those columns can just return NULL.
From the sample you will see there is a view selecting data from another view. I know it is not the best sql performance (execution path) but that is another topic on its own.
I went through a lot of the sys.* stored procs or sys.* views to try and figure out if there is a view that we can use to get the expected results.
here is the sql code:
if

* from
sys.all_objects

'AliasView2')
drop view dbo.AliasView2

Please help me I am not seeing Database table column names in field explorer view
Hi,
I am developing a crystal report using eclipse and sql server. After creating connection, when i drag and drop tables, The table name and its columns should apper in field explorer view. Then we drag the columns onto crystal report. Unfortunately I am just seeing only table names but not column names in field explorer view. Could anyone help me?
After downloading eclipse I have plugged in the crystal report using the following instructions
1. Click on the Help menu, and then Software Updates > Find and Install... to open the Install/Update wizard.
2. Select Search for new features to install and click Next.
3. Click the New Remote Site button. This will launch the New Update Site wizard
4. Type the Business Objects Updsate Site for the Name field and the following for the URL: http://www.businessobjects.com/products/dev_zone/eclipse/
5. Click OK to complete the wizard.
6. Enable the newly created Business Objects Update Site checkbox as well as the Callisto Discovery Site (which should appear by default with Eclipse 3.2) and click Finish.
Expand the Business Objects Update Site node and enable the Crystal Reports for Eclipse 1.0.0v555 checkbox.
8. Expand the Callisto Discovery Site and click the button "Select Required". This will automatically select the required Eclipse features necessary to successfully install Crystal Reports for Eclipse.

Finding source database table/column name for a column in a view
Hi i need to be able to identify the original database table/column name for a column in a view.
e.g. say i have a view like this
create v1 as select a.name fname, b.name bname, c.name cname,......
from u1.names a, u2.names b. u3.names c
where .....
Now I want to find out that the database table/column name for the fname, bname and cname columns in the view v1, which in this instance is u1.name.name, u2.names.name, u3.names.name.
But i need to be able to do it for any view. Short of parsing the SQL is there an easy way of doing this?
Now obviusly I can't do this for virtual columns but I will know my column is not virtual as it has an index on it.But i need to be able to do it for any view. Short of
parsing the SQL is there an easy way of doing this? No, parsing the SQL is the only way. Good luck it is not something I would want to attempt. -
How To Create Table View With Same Column name But Different Table?
