i am a new owner of an 8520 curve. i recently downloaded version 5.0. when attempting to use the new desktop manager; i receive an error message.......Reading from ASC II Importer/Exporter BB error Ox80040057..... i am not well versed in trouble shooting these problems. any guidance would be welcome.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.

I uploaded a PDF, shared the file & then tried to download the file. I get the following error message:

I had the same problem. Deleted the files and re-uploaded and converted to pdf. I am still getting the same error message when I try to download the converted pdf file. I tried other files which have worked great,...just not this one particular file. Please advise.

I have followed the instructions from apple about resuming the download, but every time I do so the same error message appears saying the download was interrupted. I am having no connection problems, have rebooted my computer, downloaded the lates version of iTunes, etc., yet nothing changes. Has anyone else experienced this, and are there any workarounds. Sadly the problem hit on one of the best songs of the album.

I had the same problem so (assuming under the Purchased items in the Store you have a song stuck at 'Downloading'):
I went to Music, then Artists.
From there I chose the album.
The song that failed to download had the cloud symbol next to it.
I clicked the cloud symbol and the song completed the download for me.
(Please note this was in iTunes for Windows - I expect it to be similar in iTunes for Apple)

Remove all of these items in the following order:
