Error Ora-3134, connection to Oracle 9.2.0.6

Hi,
I want to create connection from Windows 2008 server 64 bit to Oracle database version 9.2.0.6.
I have installed "Oracle 11g Release 2 ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio" where in installation instruction I have found following requirement:
"Access to an Oracle Database Server (Oracle 9i Release 2 or later)".
After that I create simple .net application using Oracle.DataAccess.dll version 2.112.1.2. But while connecting I have error Ora-3134 Connections to this server version are no longer supported.. Do you know why I have this error?
Thanks for any help
Mark

Hi,
You should not get that error with 11.2 client and ODP and a 9.2.0.6.0 database as they are supported. The 9.2 end must be 9.2.0.4.0 or higher which you seem to have.
Do you get the same error running SQL PLUS from the same 11.2.0.1.2 home and connecting to the same database?
Are you verified by some other means like client side SQL NET tracing that you are indeed connection to the a 9.2.0.6.0 DB and not some lesser version?

  • ERROR ORA-12154 connecting to Oracle 9i

    Hi,
    I've downloaded the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .net and when connecting to an Oracle 9i database I get error: ORA-12154... I'm new to Oracle and I know that is related to the “tnsnames.ora” file.The location of my file is on the Oracle\ora92\network\admin directory. Do I need a copy of this file to any other directory? I can still connect to the database using SQL+.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Justo

    Hi Justo,
    If ODT was installed correctly, it should have gone into a new Oracle10g Oracle home. This would mean that you need to copy your tnsnames.ora from your Oracle9 Oracle home into your Oracle10g Oracle home so that you can continue to use the same aliases from ODT.

  • ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned

    Hi All,
    My database is in 10.2.0.4 and has a dblink to sqlserver. The dblink works fine for normal queries.
    However when executing the following query from my oracle database
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
    AND "startDateTime" < TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD')
    AND ROWNUM < 101
    I am getting the following error
    Note : Line 8 is "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
    ERROR at line 8:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ORA-02063: preceding line from xyz
    Note:
    1.data is of datatype VARCHARN(1000) and if we ignore that field I am able to get the output
    2. If I give the StartDateTime to a value without using to_date I am able to get the output.
    Could you please tell me what could be the problem ?
    Thanks in advance.

    If the edit masks doesn't match how come I am able to get output for the below query
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" < TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD')
    AND ROWNUM < 101
    The problem as far as I am know is if I try to select data and use both the where clauses I am getting the error.
    Which is
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)

    AND ROWNUM < 101

    Is your database connect string correct? The ones I use don't have .com attached to them.

    Hi Guys!
    Thanks for your advises. I still working toward a resolution.
    But I encountered another issue from Enterp Manager :

    Hi,
    Please check Oracle support id : Troubleshooting ORA-3135 Connection Lost Contact (Doc ID 787354.1)

  • ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75

    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75
    Scenario:
    I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
    I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). I have also read several blogs, hence there might be a few more settings in the configuration files than the formal documentation says, but these have come from blogs that have “Solved” problems for other similar situations.
    The environments:
    HOST:
    Name: RESOLVEIT-PC
    IP: 192.168.1.80
    Windows 8 (64bit) , with system DSN ODBC connection ACME_POS created with 32 bit ODBC set up (This setting still shows up fine in the 64 bit ODBC).
    GUEST VM:
    Name: OraDBSvr.com
    GUES fixed IP Address: 192.1.200
    Oracle VirtualBox (4.2.16)
    Oracle Redhat Linux 6 (x86)

    Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver     = FreeTDS
    Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
    Trace       = 1
    Servername  = 192.168.1.80
    Database    = dbo
    Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    Server = 192.168.1.80
    Database
    = dbo     ####  I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
    Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
    TDS_Version = 8.0
    QuotedId=YES
    Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
    What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
    In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
    file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
    file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
    and post the output.

    There is a typo in the name of you gateway init file. You posted the content of inithMYSQL.ora but the naming is init<SID>.ora which is in your case initMYSQL.ora.
    In addition please keep in mind HSODBC has been desupported since 2008 and when starting a new configuration you should use the follow up product dg4odbc (Database Gateway for ODBC) V11.

    i have google about this error and see that some people use Oracle.DataAccess.Client namespace to solve this error. but i cant find this namespace reference.
    i want to connect to oracle in c# 2005 as user id = sys.
    so , please help me.
    thanks

    it should be there regardless of the version you installed, go into your GAC and give it a look over (C:\Windows\assembly) the Oracle.** should be there after a successful installation. It is actually in your best interest to get the latest and greatest, the versions are backward compatible (I believe they all work to 9i++)
    You can also goto
    %ora_home%\odp.net
    it will have sample c# and vb applications there
    (%ora_home% tends to be c:\oracle\product\#####\Client_1\)
    Have a look over the odp.net demos, that may very well put you on the correct track to getting things working.

  • Oracle error ORA-00600 when using Oracle 10g and Sun One Web Server 6.1

    I have a java application that was running under Solaris 8 and Oracle 9i. I am trying to get it up and running on a new server that is configured with Solaris 9 and Oracle 10g. Whenever the application tries to connect to the database it receives the following error: ORA-00600 [ttcgcshnd-1][0]. My research indicates that this is an internal Oracle error that represents a low level unexpected condition. I have looked through my configuration for the Web Server and I have not been able to determine the cause of this problem. My DBA tells me that we have the latest patch installed for Oracle! Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    If the problem is also present in a SWING app, i.e. outside the web server, then it is porbably something external to the webserver.
    I think you should ensure that the driver and database are compatible with each other. It is very likely that you need a new jdbc driver for the new database.

    Hello all,
    we have managed to build a database link from 11g (verison 11.1.0.6.0 plus bugfix 7389110 and "linux.x64_11gR1_gateways) to to a MSSQL 2000 database (Characterset is ISO 8859 Latin1 they told me).
    When we try to select columns we get sometimes the error ORA-28528. If the error occurs or not seems to depend on the type of data and if we select one cell (column) or more. I try to explain this. Please forgive me because of my English.

    SQL> select ID from x_lt@combandb where id = 12315; --> 12315 --> OK
    SQL> select ID from x_lt@combandb where id = 12315 or id = 12316;
    ERROR:
    ORA-28528: Fehler bei Konvertierung von Heterogeneous Services-Datentyp
    ORA-02063: vorherige line von COMBANDB
    _2. Test with varchar only_
    SQL> select "State" from x_ltg_pecos@combandb where id = 12315 --> Kldger
    SQL> select "State" from x_ltg_pecos@combandb --> result is a list (2490 columns)
    The lists ends the ORA-Errors (above). The valus in the lists are not all correct. Some names are cut others do have additional letters ... strange . For example in stead of "Frankfurt" is see "Frankf" or in another row the value should be "Frankfurt" but I see "Frankfurt I"
    _Test with double and dates are OK_
    I got a sql.log, a listerner log and a hs-trace but no idea how to proceed.
    Please, can anybody help me?
    Thanks Michael

    Please check file permissions on $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle executable and read carefully Configure Oracle binary permissions.

  • Looking at dependencies for a table gets Error ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop

    I have just tried looking at the dependencies for a table and I received an "ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data.
    Please let me know if there are any fixes or work arounds for this problem.
    Thanks
    Sunil

    Looks like there is another posting on this.
    ORA-01436 in Dependencies
    Because the query uses CONNECT BY and there is a circular reference it errors out. If it didn't, there would be an infinite number of results.
    This is the query that Oracle is using: SELECT owner, object_type, object_name, object_id, status , decode(replace(object_type,' ','_'),'PACKAGE_BODY','PACKAGE',replace(object_type,' ','_')) type_link
      FROM sys.all_objects
      WHERE object_id IN (
              SELECT object_id
                 FROM public_dependency
               CONNECT BY PRIOR object_id = referenced_object_id
               START WITH referenced_object_id = :OBJECT_ID ) pulled from sql_dev_root/jdev/extensions/oracle.dbdev.oviewer.jar, editors.xml
    I am not a connect by pro, so I can't tell you how to alter this to make it stop digging when it encounters an infinite loop, but maybe someone else can. In other tools, it normally dynamically pulls this data into a tree so it is only querying one level at a time.
    This happens if for example MY_TABLE depends upon MY_PACKAGE and vice versa:
    --MY_TABLE
      --MY_PACKAGE
        --MY_TABLE
          --MY_PACKAGE
            .... Hopefully someone on the sql dev team has a solution to this and can get it fixed in a later release.
