Error when deploying war file into application server
I wrote a web service in java using RAD and managed to check it using a web service client with no errors.
However, after creating a war file and tried to deploy this into the Sun application server, the following can be seen at the application server console:
Deploying application in domain failed; Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- jaxrpc compilation exception ; requested operation cannot be completed Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- jaxrpc compilation exception
In the server.log file, the following appears:

I got a similar error deploying to Weblogic with JBuilder 6 and it proved to be
the Manifest.mf file inside war, which is very sensitive to CLASSPATH entry. Finally
I used the file generated by JBuilder and it worked ...

Try to include faces jars with in your classpath.
It talk about the " java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet"
you check for this blog which help to say about this issue using JDev.

Deploy war-files on application server 6.40?
Hello,
when i try to deploy war-files direct from sap netweaver developer studio 2.0.5 it is not possible. It is possible to deploy a war-file direct on the application server by an tool?
Thanks,
FrankThe RemoteGui.bat is a GUI client for the SDM tool, which is the same tool that you use when deploying from the Developer Studio. So, the answer to your question is again no, you must pack your application into an EAR to deploy it on the server.
However, you can use the Deploy Tool that comes with J2EE Engine to deploy a J2EE application module. For more information, see the following documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/600e64a6793d419b82a3b7d59512a5/frameset.htm

Is this because tomcat is using java \jre1.5.0_06 library and Creator 2 deploy using j2ee1.4 ?

Thanks for the advice. I have made some progress but still getting an error when i deploy on tomcat but not on the bundeled server. I will add the error at the end and hope you may be able to directly me again. There is another Q regarding the page you adviced me to look at . It suggests in step 2 copying two .jar files but fails to indicate copying them to which directory. Can u help?

Error while reading excel file from application server into internal table.
Hi experts,
My requirement is to read an excel file from application server into internal table.
Hence I have created an excel file fm_test_excel.xls in desktop and uploaded to app server using CG3Z tcode (as BIN file type).
Now in my program I have used :
OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
DO.
READ DATASET v_filename INTO wa_tab.
The statement OPEN DATASET works fine but I get a dump (conversion code page error) at READ DATASET statement.
Error details:
A character set conversion is not possible.
At the conversion of a text from codepage '4110' to codepage '4103':
- a character was found that cannot be displayed in one of the two
codepages;
- or it was detected that this conversion is not supported
The running ABAP program 'Y_READ_FILE' had to be terminated as the conversion
would have produced incorrect data.
The number of characters that could not be displayed (and therefore not
be converted), is 445. If this number is 0, the second error case, as
mentioned above, has occurred.
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE', was not
caught and
therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
Characters are always displayed in only a certain codepage. Many
codepages only define a limited set of characters. If a text from a
codepage should be converted into another codepage, and if this text
contains characters that are not defined in one of the two codepages, a
conversion error occurs.
Moreover, a conversion error can occur if one of the needed codepages
'4110' or '4103' is not known to the system.
If the conversion error occurred at read or write of screen, the file
name was '/usr/sap/read_files/fm_test_excel.xls'. (further information about
the file: "X 549 16896rw-rw----201105170908082011051707480320110517074803")
Also let me know whether this is the proper way of reading excel file from app server, if not please suggest an alternative .
Regards,
KarthikHi,
Try to use OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN BINARY mode encoding default. instead of OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
As I think you are uploading the file in BIN format to Application server and trying to open text file.

do you know how to fix it? Thanks. The project I'm working on has two part:
- Web application (a war file)
- Enterprise application (an ear file)
I tried to merge them to one part and make the web application a web module of the enterprise application. I deployed the war into the ear file and the web application can be accessed successfully on my local testing machine. However, when I deploy the ear file on the server, I couldn't access to the web application anymore. Any explanation/solution would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
1] Remove following from server.xml
<Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
2] Paste SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of TOMCAT
3] Start Tomcat Server - This will create SEA folder under webapps
4] Stop server.
5] Add following to server.xml
<Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
6] Start Tomcat Server
7] Access the URL.
This will work. Somehow Tomcat does not extract war file contents which are mentioned in server.xml.
I have Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 and faced this problem. The above solution works for it.
Regards,
Sandesh

http://localhost:8080/SEA/index.jsp
But I got error message:
Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTP Status 404 -
/SEA/index.jsp
What was happenning?
Anyone can help me?

Weblogic 10.3.2 Error when deploying ear file
Using WLS 10.3.2, wwhen activating changes, I obtain following errors:
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
Exception occured while downloading files
[DeploymentService:290066]Error occurred while downloading files from admin server for deployment request "1,285,335,764,675". Underlying error is: "[DeploymentService:290065]Deployment service servlet encountered an Exception while handling the deployment datatransfer message for request id "1,285,335,764,675" from server "p8aerm". Exception is: "Could not create temp location for application : Engine-wl"."
Would someone with expertise confirm where "temp location for application" is on an AIX 6.1 server.
Any help appreciated. What user runs your weblogic? the oracle user?
In my case weblogic is started by a weblogic user who owns all the WLS folders.
Try $> ps -fea | grep p8ce to verify the user running the weblogic instance.
In a RH5 the privileges are (755):
4 drwxr-xr-x 2 weblogic weblogic 4096 Nov 19 2009 .internal
4 drwxr-xr-x 5 weblogic weblogic 4096 Nov 19 2009 WLinternal

4 drwxr-xr-x 6 weblogic weblogic 4096 Sep 21 19:28 WLuser
The folder WLuser will be created when the deploy starts.
In your case an error happends before this step.
