Exporting "CSS and images (.htm.)" from Fireworks CS4?

Is this an effective process for developing CSS based layouts? Are there any proven tricks to improve the quality of the resulting structure?

It's a starting point, but it does not exempt you from understanding
XHTML and CSS. Currently there are some limitations to what the script
will export: it ignores additional states, javascript behaviors and
won't export more than 1 page at a time. Keep in mind this is just the
"first kick" and we'll no doubt see this feature embellished.
I recommend that you download and read about the updated CSS and
Images export script, modified by Matt Stow. You can find the new
script and his article here:

The article also provides some tips on how to best plan your designs
if you plan to use the script.

CSS and Images Export problem

Hello,
I've created a very basic layout with a header, some columns of text and an image. Everything is aligned perfectly, I've put all the text into rectangles, created a slice for the image, and nothing is overlapping. When I use the Export CSS and Images option, it just exports everything as one big image. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi,
After slicing up my design and export using 'css and images' the slices are all in the wrong places.
Further more the formatting on the main text section has disappeared and the button from the main section is missing.
Rather unpredictable!

If you go to Pages and make a duplicate (from this page export just the Booking button as an image
Back to page 1. add slices for top navigation
add a slice over text area
In PI change Slice Type to HTML
Export as CSS and images
In DW place the button and add link.
Paste text into content area (now HTML instead of an image)
You'll need to tweak styles to fix margins
BUT - this is NOT the way to make a website. It is all images and search engines can't read an image and it takes too long to load. It's not search engine friendly at all. If it's comping purposes the ignore the rant :-)

CSS and Images - won't export behaviors

When I try to export as CSS and Images I get a message "Only slice images from the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and Behavior attributes will be ignored".
I have tried to de-select the "Current States Only" check box but it is grayed out.
I have upgraded to the latest version. The about box says that I have version 10.0.3.11.

The CSS and Images export option will not export any JavaScript based behaviors, so if you have buttons. rollovers, and image swaps then they will not work in the exported files.
For CSS and Images export, slices are only used to indicate what should be exported as bitmap graphics (e.g., JPEGs, GIFs), and you only need to put slices over the parts of the design that are graphics.
I'm not entirely sure why your export files are completely empty, but it sounds like you may not have completely identified what should be exported as a <div> and that you may not have placed slices over page elements that should export as graphics. Unless you have flattened your text to bitmaps, editable text objects should export as live HTML text.

CSS and Images export problems

I am trying to export a page to dreamweaver using css and images method. I have created rectangles for the header, content and footer to create divs. Added text and graphics. When I export, it does not export with html codes and css, it gives me one big .jpg. "Layer_1.jpg". Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

CSS and image export problems

Hi
Is the CSS and image export supposed to output anything
legible. Right now, it produces garbage that looks nothing like my
project. Images are distorted. Nothing lines up correctly. Has
anyone else had similar problems?
Why does the feature only support creating a single page? Is
there any way to get it to export all pages?
Why does the feature ignore behaviors? The HTML and image
export supports behaviors so why can't the CSS and image export? Is
there any way to get it to support behaviors?

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing. After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

Css and images are not loading in SharePoint website

Scenario:-
System Configuration- Windows server 2008 R2, SharePoint Designer 2010, SP server 2010 all are in Local Machine.
1. I had reset the Windows server 2008 R2 password and opened SharePoint Designer 2010.
2. Opened previous working site and found error- services unavailable- HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable
3. For this issue, I reset (as I reset for windows server) the Identity password in App pool for "SharePoint Central Administration v4" application.
4. The error "Service Unavailable" got vanished.
But encountered new problem - .css and images are not loading.
5. I re run "Product Configuration wizard" with below steps:-
A) Do not disconnect from this server.
B) No, this machine will continue to host the website
Still Problem persisting.
What tried:-
1. Resetting IIS Server.
2. Restarted SharePoint Admin Services from "Service window".
3. Recycled App pool.
Just do let me know for further information.

Check if Style Resource Readers SharePoint group has permissions on the site, permissions to the style library and make sure that this library provides Style Resource Readers with restricted read.
If you don't see Style resource readers on the site, go to that library and set that permission. you could also just load your installation media to a folder, and execute on setup.exe, select repair option. This second option of the installation
media is the cannon vs. flyswatter approach though, but it will work

I have read the previous posts on this subject, but found no resolution.
I can confirm that the CSS and images were uploaded to Media Temple.
The permissions are set to "read"
I didn't change any of the file structures. uploaded as it was output by Muse.
Any new thoughts?

On fox same thing except no image boxes even.

I fear your post is slightly confusing - clicking on the tinyurl gives a group listing that appears quite normal.
It's possible that you have achieved this by downloading and installing the images etc. by hand but this really isn't the way to go. (Alternatively you may have solved the problem in which case please ignore the rest of this post)
The collaboration folder (which contains javascript, css and image files) is normally at
usr/share/collaboration
on your start up hard disc
and if it's NOT there I would worry about your system install.
If it IS there, a possible source of error is that the location of 'collaboration' is set as an alias in so that web pages can access it simply as 'http://www.website.com/collaboration'
So, I advise you check that you haven't amended this in some way.
Assuming that you have your server set up in Advanced Configuration you could do the following. If you have it as a Stardard or Workgroup config I fear I can't help you as I have no experience as to how the set the alias. Someone else should be able to advise. (Alternatively you COULD start editing the Apache files directly but I wouldn't advise it unless you feel happy doing that and any edit may well get overwritten anyway The relevant files are at etc/apache2/sites/)
Launch Server Admin, select web from the list of services in the left hand column and select the domain name from the list at the top - you may only have one.
Then select aliases from the horizontal list of radio buttons and see what it says for /collaboration, it should read
Alias /collaboration /usr/share/collaboration
Beyond that I don't know what to say.

Apple Compressor has been doing wmf exports for a decade. I have the Quicktime export components from Telestream and they appear as presets in Compressor. They should be available in Media Encoder or they should be importable. Adove apparently refuses to see them. Still trying to figure that out.

First of all, PostScript is not a "text" file. It can and often does contain binary data. Since PostScript streams often contain nested procedures, unless you process the procedure definitions and can "execute" them, you cannot simply "scan" a file to get what you want. Why does fireworks add and extra quote on exporting html and images... looks like this ----- align=""left"

Hi Adobe Community,
I had this issue on previous versions of Fireworks.
Why is it happening? Is there a glitch in the software? I thought it would be fixed in the CC version..
here is a snippet of code that is exported.
<td><table style="display: inline-table;" align=""left" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="810">
Basically where ever there is a align="left" it is exported as align=""left"
This leaves me to do a find and replace to fix the code. Kind of annoying.
Personally I thought this would of been fixed in this version.
Please advise and how to fix this and prevent it from happening.
