Failing to Validate SAML Token : while setting WSRP security using SAML
Hi All,
I am trying to configure SAML on WLP 10.2 consumer domain along with WLS 10.2 producer domain ( extended domain to use as WSRP producer ) on single machine. I followed the steps as per the bea edocs - http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs92/federation/Chap-Security-SAML.html , which talks about how easy its to configure SAML with WSRP. But i am stuck at this point where the TransportException says the SAML token is not valid , stacktrace below:
Error invoking portlet "Cportlet"
The source of this error is:

Have tried a lot of different things but no luck proceeding further. Configured all the producer domain as per the link mentioned above., reconfigured the consumer again. Also tested by crearting a new keystore, but all this does not help me proceed further.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Acrobat 9,10 failing to validate digital signature while Acrobat 8 validating it.
I am facing an issue while validating a digital signature. I applied a certified signature with “Annotation, form fill-in, and digital signatures” but
when I apply Redaction “find and permanently remove” on a digitally signed document, Adobe Acrobat 9 and 10 complains that signature is Invalid But Adobe 8 is validating it. I have analyzed that Adobe Acrobat applying Redaction in append mode and original content of signature remains unchanged after Redaction.
Can someone let me know what should be the actual behavior?
Why Adobe Acrobat 9 and 10 failing to verify the signature even Adobe Acrobat keep enable Redaction which means it is allow to apply in a certified signed document with “Annotation, form fill-in, and digital signatures” option.
Prompt responses are greatly appreciated!!When you sign, you should see where you can select the signature appearance name from a dropdown in the dialog.

Whenever I execute my script. Can you please let me know what we can do to solve this issue. The version of PHP we are using is 5.3.3 with open ssl.Hi Shobha,
I can't confirm what version of PHP you are using, but to err on the side of caution please use the version specified in the sample/SDK:
PHP 5.4.14 has been installed from PHP.
Here is our code examples:

First of all, we are facing this issue, where Internet connectivity of Exchange Hybrid Server is coming from Webproxy, so need to define Webproxy in Exchange Powershell
First Exchange Powershell will be
Set-ExchangeServer -Identity Exchhub01 -InternetWebProxy
http://10.10.10.10:3120/
Note: Change Exchange Servername and Proxy IP and Port no as per your enviornment.
Second Command will be
Get-FederationTrust | Set-Federationtrust -RefreshMetaData
Third Command Will be
Test-FederationTrust
or
Test-FederationTrust -UserIdentity <OnPremisesMailbox> -verbose
Note: Test-federation trust will show you the status of Federation Certificate, it should be valid, it takes 5-8 hours to become valid from ExpiryThanks

Erroe while invoking a process (could not validate SAML)
Hi,
I am getting the following error while invoking a process from
Weblogic Portal Server.The invocation happens properly always but
after frequent intervals(approx 1-1.5 hrs) this error comes.Then if
the Portal Server(the client which is invoking the process) is
restarted again it works properly.
This is very urgent to resolve.Any pointers to this will be very
helpful.
Thannks in advance,
Leena Jain

Exception: "Could not validate SAML Token"
We have an evaluation system setup that we are using to generate PDF from PS. We're connecting via the EJB client, and typically have had no problems. Until today. At some point today we began seeing exceptions being thrown on the client:
Caused by: com.adobe.idp.um.api.UMException | [com.adobe.idp.um.api.impl.AuthenticationManagerImpl] errorCode:16421 errorCodeHEX:0x4025 message:Could not validate SAML Token --- Assertion has expired and hence not valid for user [administrator@DefaultDom]. Its valid till time [Tue Feb 04 10:58:45 MST 2014] was found to be before the current time [Tue Feb 04 16:04:41 MST 2014]
Simply bouncing the app server where the client code is running solved the problem, however we'd like to better understand what is going on and why. Nothing that I can find in the docs seems to indicate the cause/solution, and possible solutions have links that appear to no longer function: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Renewing_the_context_to_handle_session_expiry-16410.html
Any suggestions and/or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!PROBLEM
Using the same instance of ServiceClientFactory to remotely invoke the services exposed by the LiveCycle container can lead to
exception related to assertion expiry
Solution
To handle the timeout use the ThrowHandler mechanism provided by the ServiceClientFactory framework
Detailed explanation
LiveCycle provides a client sdk for java based client to invoke its services remotely.
An invocation involves Creation of a ServiceClientFactory instance Setting the user credential in thefactory instance Pass that factory to a service client or use that to create InvocationRequest directly
Use the client to make the actual request.
For more details refer to Invoking
LiveCycle ES Using the Java API .
A ServiceClientFactory instance once created is valid for a ceratin
period of time which is by default 120 min. if the same instance is used to invoke beyond this period then it would lead to an exception stating that
the session has expired [com.adobe.idp.um.api.impl.AuthenticationManagerImpl]
errorCode:16421 errorCodeHEX:0x4025 message:Could not validate SAML
Token --- Assertion has expired and hence not valid for user
[administrator@DefaultDom]. Its valid till time [Thu Oct 22
17:07:53 IST
2009] was found to be before the current time [Thu Oct
22 17:58:18 IST 2009]
This is not an issue if the ServiceClientFactory instance is used for short duration. However if you are going to perform a long
running task like converting large number of documents to pdf ,applying policies to them etc then it would be an issue.
Session Expiry
Before fxing the issue some info on what is session expiry.
When you use a ServiceClientFactory instance to invoke the service following fow happens
You set the credentials in the properties and invoke theservice
LiveCycle on server side validates the credentials and issues a Context. It is sort of a ticket which can be reused later instead of the actual credentials.
Upon receiving the response from the server the ServiceClientFactory instance deletes its own copy of credentials and instead stores the Context For later invocations this Context instance is passed instead of the user credentials
This whole fow is done to ensure that user's credentials are not sent for each remote call thus improving the security.
For more information on Context refer to
User Identity in LiveCycle .
Solution
To fx this issue you would have to re authenticate to LiveCycle and get the Context reissued. the best way to do that is to make use of the ThrowHandler provided by the ServiceClientFactory framework
STEP1 - Create a Throwhandler
* This ThrowHandler caches the user credentials and uses them
to refresh the Context in the
* ServiceClientFactory upon expiry.
private static class SimpleTimeoutThrowHandler implements
ThrowHandler {
private String username;
private String password;
public SimpleTimeoutThrowHandler(String username, String
password) {
this.username = username;
this.password = password;
public boolean handleThrowable(Throwable t, ServiceClient
sc,
ServiceClientFactory scf, MessageDispatcher md,
InvocationRequest ir, int numTries) throws
DSCException {
if(timeoutError(t)){
//The call to AuthenticationManager do not require
authentication so the default properties
//are suffcient
AuthenticationManager am =
new
AuthenticationManagerServiceClient(ServiceClientFactory.createInstance (getDefaultProperties()));
AuthResult ar = null;
try {
ar =
am.authenticate(username,password.getBytes());
} catch (UMException e) {
throw new IllegalStateException(e);
Context ctx = new Context();
ctx.initPrincipal(ar);
//Refresh the ServiceClientFactory instance with
the new context
scf.setContext(ctx);
logger.info("Refreshed the context associated with
ServiceCLientFactory");
//Now tell SCF to try the invocation again
return true;
//Check so that we do not wrap the exception again
if(t instanceof DSCException)
throw (DSCException)t;
if(t instanceof RuntimeException)
throw (RuntimeException)t;
// how is it possible to get this far?
throw new IllegalStateException(t);
private boolean timeoutError(Throwable t) {
if(!(t.getCause() instanceof UMException)){
return false;
UMException ue = (UMException) t.getCause();
//Check that UMException is due to the
assertion/context expiry
if(UMConstants.ErrorCodes.E_TOKEN_INVALID ==
ue.getErrCode()){
return true;
return false;
This ThrowHandler would be invoked by the ServiceClientFactory upon receiving any exception. The handler would then determine if its a timeout related exception and then would refresh the Context associated with the factory instance and tells it to retry the invocation.
STEP - 2 Register the handler
ServiceClientFactory.installThrowHandler(new
SimpleTimeoutThrowHandler(username, password));
Note: The handler should be registered only once in the application
STEP 3 - Perform your invocation
Following sample would try to apply policies on all the fles present in a directory
Properties p = getDefaultProperties();
p.setProperty(DSC_CREDENTIAL_USERNAME, username);
p.setProperty(DSC_CREDENTIAL_PASSWORD, password);
ServiceClientFactory scf =
ServiceClientFactory.createInstance(p);
//Now do some long running operation
String inputDirName ="path-to-input-dir";
String outDirName = "path-to-out-dir";
String policyName = "the-policy-name";
File inDir = new File(inputDirName);
File outDir = new File(outDirName);
RightsManagementClient rmClient = new
RightsManagementClient(scf);
DocumentManager docManager = rmClient.getDocumentManager();
//Iterate over all the pdf in the inDir and apply the
policies. If this takes a
for(File pdfFile : inDir.listFiles()){
Document inDoc = new Document(pdfFile, false);
Document securedDoc = docManager.applyPolicy(inDoc,
pdfFile.getName(), null, policyName, null, null);
securedDoc.copyToFile(new
File(outDir,pdfFile.getName()));
Now the invocation would complete even if it takes a long time. if any session expiry occurs then our ThrowHandler would take care of that.
here's a sample:

I'v posted this thread in the [SOA Suite forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=912083&tstart=0] in the first place, but maybe this forum is a better places, for this question.
We're experiencing a lot of inconveniences using the "SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token" validation step in WSM. We've configured the SAML verifier to "allow signed assertions only" in order to achieve our security goals. Before a client is allowed access to a protected web service, the client must request an identity provider to get a signed saml assertion and attach this security token to the web service security header. In order to access the protected web services we'll like to use WSM to verify that the saml assertion:
1. Is issued by a specific identity provider (no problem)
2. That the conditions in the assertion is valid (no problem)
3. That the assertion i signed by a trusted certificate (problem)
4. That the signature of the assertion is valid in proportion to the signed context of the assertion (problem)
The inconveniences starts when we expect that the "SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token" validation step, validates the signatures of the assertion, before using it. But it seems, that this isn't the purpose of the verifier. When the saml token verifier is configured with "allow signed assertions only", then the client receives a "SAML token verification failed". This seems reasonably, but if we just add an empty ds:Signature element inside the wsse:Security element, then the client is granted access:
<wsse:Security xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
<ds:Signature Id="Signature-11551252" xmlns:ds="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#"></ds:Signature>
<saml:Assertion xmlns:saml="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.0:assertion" MajorVersion="1" MinorVersion="1" AssertionID="nakbhwl3Qz8mPC00cL1bUg22" Issuer="https://credentials.com/idp" IssueInstant="2009-06-09T11:05:40Z">
</saml:Assertion>
</wsse:Security>
I find this behavior very strange. Also, if i do some manual changes in the saml assertion issued and signed by the identity provider, this is allowed too, even though the signature is invalidated. Event if I remove the ds:Signature from the assertion, but keeps the empty ds:Signature below the wsse:Security element, the client is granted access.
In the documentation of the "SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token", i found this quotation:
"Verifies the SAML token according to the Web Services Security SAML Token Profile 1.0 (WSS STP 1.0) standard."
But I don't find this statement true. Our assertions is issued with confirmation method "sender-voches":
<saml:SubjectConfirmation>
<saml:ConfirmationMethod>urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.0:cm:sender-vouches</saml:ConfirmationMethod>
</saml:SubjectConfirmation>
I interpret the spec as, a receiver MUST NOT accept assertions containing a "sender-vouches" confirmation method unless the assertions and soap message content being vouches for are protected by an attesting entity who is trusted by the receiver. This is absolute not the case in our tests. The assertion isn't protected at all. The empty ds:Signature element in the wsse:Security element doesn't protect any thing and even when we totally remove the ds:Signature tag in the assertion, we're granted access.
It seems like the purpose of the "SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token" step isn't to validate the confidentiality of the saml assertions and only grant access if the saml assertions is correct. It is possible to freely change the tokens and then be granted access. I think we need some more steps in WSM before the saml validation step, but I don't know which.
We'll like to know if any one knows how to use this "SAML - Verify WSS 1.0 Token" step, to achieve a secure access to protected service. Do we need some pre/post step to achieve a satisfying level of security, do we need to make our own custom step or just used another security product?

looks like you have successfully configured the client side ; I am struggling in that itself. I am calling a secure web-service and I want to use saml token profile 1.1. I am using wls 10.3 and I am getting an error Unable to add signature .
Can you help me with the configuration at the client side ?
Thanks

Attempting to install the deployer on a machine and getting the below error. Not sure what that means, out of turn error or what actually occurs at this step, validating release management server, during the configuration piece. The user,
that we set for the service was validated fine. The user is an service account in the TFS RM Server, is an admin on the local box as well.
I am able to get into the TFS RM Server through the client just fine. I can hit the TFS RM UI just fine as well.
Curious what would not allow the deployer to complete as mentioned below.
Any help is appreciated.

Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 (Doc ID 603104.1) -
Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application
He got this error
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
He has IIS5 and me too.
I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
and in the connection string I have.
<add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>
I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SE\levalencia.
Thats strange.
The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.
If you want me to send logs please tellmeWell here's my problem, maybe you can help. Intermittenly I get a login failed when connecting to a db engine through Server Management Studio using Windows authentication. When this happens the following entries are generated on the server's application event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSSQLSERVER
Event Category: (4)
Event ID: 17806

I've already ensured that the server is set to mixed authentication mode. Oddly enough, the workaround that I've found is that if I remote desktop into the server, log in and then log back out, Management Studio is suddenly able to connect again. No idea why it works.
As I said before, it is intermitten. Some days it errors on login, other days it doesn't and there are no configuration changes between them. Also, both client and server are in the same domain and same site so there is no VPN or anything in between. I'm really quite stumped. Any help would be great, or if you can point me in the right direction of where to look. Thank you in advance! -

Help?
Thanks,
Doug
1630 blocks used (approx)Unfortunatly the update server is having some very strange hicups every now and then. I've been able to reproduce this once on a sparc box. What I did was basicly running 'smpatch analyze' for a second time, followed by the regular 'update' command after which things worked out for me.
Some strange things also occur when you sometimes run the 'analyze' command, and then run it again. Sometimes you'll be presented with 2 different lists of available updates. -
PatchPro download failure | Failed to validate the digital signature
Hi,
Patchpro failing to validate some patches on 2 of our servers. One is throwing an error (1, below), the other is echoing an error to screen(2).
We are patching around a dozen servers (all SPARC, versions 8, 9 and 10) and these are the only 2 with problems.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
