Flat File IDOC - ECC, segment defn x in IDoc type y CIM type do not exist

I'm working on idoc flat file > sap scenario. Everything seems to be working up until the point where I get an error message:
EDISDEF: Port EDIPORT segment defn E2FINBU000 in IDoc type FIDCCP01 CIM type do not exist
I've loaded the meta data, and the file structure is fine. I believe the issue is related to PI not having the idoc I'm interested in listed in WE30. How do I reference the standard IDOC type FIDCCP01? Ideas I've had are around SWCV or transport from another system, the first I'm not sure which SWCV, the later seems a bit of a bodge and I dont like the idea.

Hmm.. some light for the situation. Seems that the segments imported are:
E1FINBU     E2FINBU     31I
E1FINBU     E2FINBU001     40A
E1FINBU     E2FINBU002     40B
E1FINBU     E2FINBU003     45A
E1FINBU     E2FINBU004     45B
E1FINBU     E2FINBU005     46A
E1FINBU     E2FINBU006     46C
Which indeed does not have E2FINBU000, which the IDOC is most definitely trying to pass. I can only guess that the middleware producting this IDOC is flawed, and that standard SAP ALE will accept this as E2FINBU (It works into another SAP system without XI).
Guess I've answered my own question, but feel free to offer light for points

I've a question. We would send an standard IDOC from the 4.6C System to our SAP Xi 3.0. I customized the XI with TA IDX1 and IDX2. If we trigger the IDOC to XI I get the follow error message back:
Port SAPQ73 segment defn E2EDL20002 in IDoc type DELVRY03 CIM type &4 do not exist.
The IDOC Vers. is 4.6. In another system with IDOC Vers. 6.20 isn't a problem. So I think its a problem of the IDOC Version, or? So I checked the forum about this topic but I didn't find anything. So, I hope you can help me. Kind Regards Stephan

I have exactly the same issue... We're currently upgrading our SAP system 4.7 to ECC6.0. We're also upgraded the system to an unicode system.
Before those change, the interface between SAP and Xi worked well. Since the upgrade, those idocs don't pass any more and get the same error message than Stephan.
I've checked the authorization of the RFC user and he has SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW. Partner profile, RFC connection, port and distribution model didn't changed.
Do someone have an idea why this can appear ?

Hi Experts,
I am getting the error "EDISDEF:Port <sid> segment defn Z2Q0015000 in idoc type..YHRMD. CIM"
in sm58 of sender sap system. I thought it would be the metadata issue and tried to search the segment 'Z2Q0015000' but unable to find any thing in sender sap.
Even i have tried in idx2. in xi

Hi Michal,
Many thanks for your input. The issue is coz the metadata in IDX2 is not updated. The sender system was trying to post the data from the segment which XI doesnt have.
I just tracked the segment from we60 based on the error message and checked the idoc structure in IDX2.Then imported the idoc into IDX2 from sender sap.

Is it possible to read a flat file and create the sale order through IDoc. Can i do this by DOC_INBOUND_FROM_FILE without XI?? What file format should i pass??

you can create Sales order through IDoc. IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS
At a high level, the IDOC processing executes in the following manner:
1.     Interpret IDOC header segments and captures organizational, customer master and purchase
               order header details. Performs user exits for each segment to process customizations to data
                 processing.
2.     Interprets item level segments and captures item level details like material information. Again,
               it performs user exits for each segment.
3.     Sums up the order data and determines the posting criterion viz. creating order with reference
                  etc.
4.     Builds up batch data communication sequence (BDC) with respect to the required screen
              sequence of posting a sales order.
5.     While building up the BDC data, system performs user exit to process customizations to BDC
                data.
6.     Calls transactions VA01 using the BDC data.
7.     If the processing fails, an appropriate workitem is generated for workflow processing.

In simple words, Main advantage with idoc over flat file is security....
I will explain you some scenario here U got a flat file with all the data...Now u r having the flat file if you want u can modify the data in it, or somehow any one can modify the data in it if they were able to access this file. That means u maintained the file in the presentation server
One level of higher security to the above level is maintaining the flat file in application server, at point also even though lot of people r not having the access to that file, super user who is having the access may modify the data or delete the data from it rite....
so in both of those levels u don't have 100% security...
So there come to the picture of idocs, Idocs simply data carriers, those r generated by a program but not manually...data will be divided into number of segments based upon ur program. So manually its not so easy to modify the data in these idocs. If any changes to be made in the data then u have to modify the data in the application and then u have to update the idoc or you have to generate the new idoc with that corresponding data. so in this case not even super user can manipulate the data directly in the idoc....
I think u got my point what I mean to say.....

Doubts in SAP(Idoc)-XI-Flat file scenario

Dear All,
I am sending Delivery Idoc from R/3 and I am able to view the Idoc in XI in transaction IDX5. Also i m able to see the XML structure with the data of the idoc in SXMB_MONI.
Now as per my scenario I have to download this to a flat file from XI.
My question is, should I have to do the creation of Data types, message types, mapping interface & interface mapping in IR or should I directly do the designing in the ID.

DT, MT, MI : you will create these things for receiver flat file only.
First create
In Integration Repository :
1.     Import structure of IDOC in your scenario, In imported objects  IDOCs
              a.     In Interface Objects
1.     Create Data type for your flat file
2.     Create Message Type
3.     Create Message Interface (inbound Asy.)
              b.     In Mapping Objects
1.     Message Mapping : IDOC to Message Type of Flat File.
2.     Create Interface Mapping : IDOC to Flat file by using Message Mapping which you have created.
Make activate all these things.
In Integration Directory :
1.     Create Communication channel for File Receiver.
2.     Sender Communication channel is not required.
3.     Create Receiver Agreement.
4.     Sender Agreement is not required.
5.     Interface Determination
6.     Receiver Determination
At sender side you will take your IDoc and at receiver side you will take your flat file.

IDOC creation from flat file.

Hello Friends.
I need to create a custom program for posting goods receipts for a purchase order.
I think a custom program needed to achieve this task because i need to do mappings prior to create an IDOC. Now using a flat file what are the function modules or steps involved. can any one of you able to help me on this.

Sorry, I'm trying to remember the name of the function module I used....I had a similar situation...I had a flat file which I processed and constructed an IDOC which I then saved as an incoming IDOC using the FM.... Because we had our settings (standard SAP process code, standard SAP FM IDOC processor, etc.) set to automatically fire off the IDOC processing, the result was that I read the file, saved the IDOC and SAP then immediately grabbed and posted the IDOC. I will do a little search for the FM I used to create the IDOC in my own system and get back to you if you think that would be helpful. Sorry for my memory lapse....

Idoc XML to a flat File

Hello everybody,
On my system SAP, i need to send a IDOC to XI who convert it to a flat file idoc like this :
SAP => IDOC XML => XI => FLAT FILE IDOC.
Can anyone help me on this subject.

If you need the file in the idoc structure itself, I would suggest to create the file in R/3 and poll the file from XI.
Otherwise creating a flat file from the IDOC XML using the file-content conversion will be very cumbersome.
I don't find any other way to create the idoc flat file, anyone has a better idea??
But the polling solution will not work online. Still assuming that the file you create in the output side will be polled at some regular interval by some other application, make the polling frequency of the XI sender adapter same as the one of application at the output side should be enough.
If you are doing this as an experiment, I suggest you to create a file-content-conversion

Blank lines inserted at the end of the flat file generated

my scenario is idoc to flat file. for each item node in the idoc, one flat file has to be generated. i have used FCC with variable substitution method.
structure is something like this
<TOItem>
<field1>
<field2>
</TOItem>
<FieldNode>
< Filename>
the filename value is used to generate the file name in variable substitution. this field should not appear in the output file. so we have used
Filenode.fieldFixedLengths = 0 and FileNode.fixedLengthTooShortHandling=Cut
with this 2 blank lines are being inserted in the output file.
these lines should not appear in the output file. can anyone guide me how to achive.

Do not add this as a separate node. Keep it inside the field strucuture at the end and mentione the length of the field 0. Your problem will be solved.

Multiple flat files appended, is file locked until all processed?

Hi All,
Have a scenario in place where we are collecting multiple flat files on ECC and using append mode on the receiver file adapter to create a single file for final output. We are only interested in submitting the output to it's target after all files sent to PI have been appended.
Does PI 7.0 lock the appended file until all files have been appended so I am sure I end up with a complete single file on output? If not, what are my options to ensure a completely appended file is output? Would it be a viable option to pass the appending file through another sender file adapter using 'msecs to wait before modification check'?

How many files are you collecting from ECC and appending at receiver side and how much time it is taking to complete the process?
if its possible to schedule your business to read data from FTP after completing append then no worries, else sometimes it creates trouble.
The option you mentioned is reliable one , but you ended up creating one more interface.

EDI Flat file Content Conversion

I have got a question on File Content Conversion, Please have look the following structure, is it possible with FCC or what is the best possible solution for this, which is very big favour to me.
Some information about this structure,
This is EDI message in flat file structure, each segment has got 700 characters as a row, LIN item is repeating many times,
ST ,XQ , N1 , DTM, LIN, P04, N9,ZA , ZA ,ZA , etc are segments, LIN item is repeating, at the end CTT is last segment. Again from ST segment to CTT segment comes 3 more times.

How to Create Hierarchy From Flat file Structure

Hi Gurus,
There is a scenario for me regarding the Hierarchy.
Required Hierarchy structure - Region>Director>Manager-->Sales id
I have flat file which gives the info like user id , sales id , manager id, director id.
But the transaction data Flat file has structure with sales id, region id, sales amt, sales qty.
Note : Region id is another Master Data.
How i can create hierarchy from the first flat file which doesnot have region info in that but it is available in the transaction data Flat file.
Is there anyway we can create hierarchy based on the first Flat file structure which contains more that 1,00,000 records.
Try to Suggest me in this regard .

                Defining the source system from which to load data
Choose the source system tree File ® Create.
       2.      Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data
Optional: choose InfoSource Tree ® Root (InfoSources) ® Create Application Components.
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Other Functions ® Create InfoSource 3.x ® Direct Update.
Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
       3.      Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Your InfoSource ® Assign Source System. The transfer structure maintenance screen appears.
The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
○       Attributes
○       Texts
○       Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
       4.      Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
Select the DataSource for uploading hierarchies.
IDoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA during loading, which affects performance.
PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
       5.      Maintaining the hierarchy
Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy

Flat file convertion

Hi,
I have a scenario in which I have to convert two flat files, and combine pairs of records into iDoc.
Each file contains different attributes of an object and can contain up to 10000 records.
I have defined the scenario using BPM that receive single record of each file and sends a single iDoc.
The problem is that the file adapter has to read the first file completely before the second one is read.
Is there a way to configure the scenario in such a way that the files will be read in parallel ?

Elad, if you are reasonably sure of the time of the day/week in which these 2 type of files will come,
you can explore the Event driven message processing,

This, if i understood right, will help delay processing of your message, until say a point in time.
The message is persisted in the database, so there
is no runtime memory consumption. You can schedule
a job to process both the messages after a delay.

Saving query results to a flat file

Hello Experts!
We have a very specific issue on our current project and I would like to know if any of you have ever done something similar. We are taking query results from BW (after complex calculations, some based on SY-DATE) and saving them to flat files to transfer to a SQL database structure on the Enterprise Portal. From here, the portal team renders the information into more "static" dashboards that include mouse over features and even limited drilldown (i.e. no matter where a user clicks the report always drills down on profit center)
There are many reasons why the model is set up as such (mostly training of executive level end users), and even though it doesn't mesh with the idea that BW could do this work on its own, we have to work with what we have.
We have come up with 3 possible ways to save this data to flat files and hopefully someone can tell us which might be the most effective.
1.) Information Broadcasting. If we broadcast XML files to the portal, will the portals team be able to read that data into a SQL database? Is there another way to use broadcasting to create and send a flat file to specific location?
2.) RSCRM_BAPI. This transaction seems to not support texts.
3.) Open Hub. In order to get the open hub to work, we first have to save all of our query results to direct write data store objects using APD. (calculations based on current date, for example, would require daily full loads to the underlying data providers otherwise.)
What is the best way to accomplish this? Is information broadcasting capable of doing this?

Hi Adam,
Do you have to use flat files to load the information to a SQL database? (if so maybe someone else has a suggestion on which way would be the best).
I try to stay away from flat file uploads as there is a lot of manual work involved. May I suggest setting up a connection to your SQL table in the DBCON table and then writing a small abap program to push data into the SQL database (which you can automate).
1) Use APD to push data into a table within BW.
2) Go to transaction SM30 > table DBCON and setup a new entry specifying the conncection parameters to your SQL database.
3) In SE38 Write an ABAP program along the folloing lines (assuming the connection you set in DBCON is named conn1:
data: con_name like dbcon-con_name
con_name = 'conn1'.
exec sql.
set connection :con_name
endexec.
****have a select statement which reads data from your table which the data is saved from the APD into an internal table**********
****loop on the internal table and have a SQL insert statement to insert the records into the SQL table as below******
exec sql.
insert into <SQL TABLE> (column names seperated by ,)
values (column names of the internal table seperated by ,) if the internal table is named itab the columns have to be specified as :itab-column1

Does any one know how to resolve the error while flat file upload

Hey guys, I am so struck with this problem, please do let me know if anyone has any suggestions and ideas.
1. I created three InfoObjects, Material Number, Name and Price,which is a keyfigure and has data type DEC and fixed currency USD.
Material Number is "With Master Data ", "With Text" and i added Name and Price as attributes to that.
2.
After that i created an Application component, and therafter a data source for Master data Attibutes.
Now i select my flat file which is .csv file, in this data source. When I click "Load Example Data", i get all the fields from flat file, but the data type for PRICE changes to FLTP with length 16 instead of remaining DEC.
Does anyone have any idea why on earth is this change of Data type taking place ?
Please do me a favour by answering if you know about this problem. Thanks, appreciate it . Byee. And yeah, m just starting off in SAP so I am a total amateur unlike most of the people here.

Let me put it in another way :
Created Infoobjects: 1) Material No , 2) Material Name 3 ) Price which is the Key Figure
Material No -
has attributes Material Name and Price and " WIth Master Data", With ' Text"
Price: -
data type DEC, fixed currency - USD
After doing things.
Created Application Component:
then, Right Click - Create Data Source,
Selected -- Master Data Attributes
After that from "EXTRACTIO' tab , selected the flat file, which is *.csv
and then in DATA FORMAT - " SEPERATED WITH SEPERATOR"
Then from "PROPOSAL" tab, when i click Load example data, the data from flat file shows up here, but the field PRICE now has Data Type -- " FLTP" and lenght "16"
