FValueGet Function in FDMEE
Dear all,
In FDM Classic I could use the fValueGet function to retrieve data from HFM. Is there a similar API existing in FDMEE if I want to create a mapping based on a pre-load data value in my HFM target application?

once the adapter is initialized maybe you are able to use:
fValueGet(strEntity, strParent, strAccount, strICP, strC1, strC2, vaCustoms, strValue, strScenario, strYear, strPeriod, strView)
Note, that using this method is not supported.

In that case, you could use SQL scripts in the mappings

FDM & ERPI to FDMEE - Upgrade approach/challenges ?
Hello,
We are in FDM/ERPI 11.1.2.2.300 (used for loading data from EBS and file systems into HFM 11.1.2.2.300) and planning to upgrade (within the existing environment [in-place upgrade]) to 11.1.2.3. As we see that FDM/ERPI are integrated together as FDMEE in 11.1.2.3, we had big grey area on how FDMEE would function in contrast to disparate FDM/ERPI.
We needed inputs from veterans or anyone who had experienced the upgrade to answer the follwing queries.
Queries:
[1] We have come to know that FDM and ERPI are integrated together as FDMEE in 11.1.2.3.
[a] Since we have FDM and ERPI as separate components in 11.1.2.2.300, how should FDM and ERPI components be upgraded to FDMEE ? Any specific steps / approach that need to be followed ?
[b] Are there any known issues / challenges involved in upgrading from disparate FDM & ERPI to FDMEE ?
[c] How would ERPI artifacts (of 11.1.2.2.300) function in FDMEE - Are there any specific migration or any manual set-up required post-upgrade (to 11.1.2.3) to have ERPI artifacts (like source system, period mapping, location, import formats, data load mapping etc) functioning in FDMEE ?
[d] Similarly how would FDM artifacts (from 11.1.2.2.300) function in FDMEE ? Are there any specific migration or manual set-up required post-upgrade (to 11.1.2.3) to have FDM artifacts (like mapping, validation rules etc) functioning in FDMEE ?
[2] Since only ODI 11.1.1.7 is compatible with 11.1.2.3 (from Compatability matrix), how do we upgrade ODI from 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7 ? Are there any patch available to upgrade or should we uninstall ODI 11.1.1.6 and install ODI 11.1.1.7 ?
Any insightful response will be helpful for us as it would help us to gain clarity/confidence and comfort in upgrading to 11.1.2.3.

As you are upgrading from 11.1.2.2.300 to EPM 11.1.2.3 (within the existing environment [in-place upgrade]) , it's called Applying maintenance release EPM 11.1.2.3 on EPM 11.1.2.2
[a] when you apply maintenance release , FDM 11.1.2.2 gets upgraded to FDM 11.1.2.3 ,
and ERPi gets upgraded to FDMEE 11.1.2.3
[b] i have not faced any issue while upgrading FDM
[c] please check epm_install.pdf for EPM 11.1.2.3 for upgradation task for FDM and FDMEE (see page 257 / 258)

Budget_Approved = TrueHow is one supposed to modify VB functions in FDM such as farsTableAppend so that it is supported in FDMEE scripts?
I generated an API documentation from FDMEE AIF-APIs.jar (which is supposed to have all the FDMEE APIs in it I guess) but I dont see replacement for VB functions such as farsTableAppend, fExpTRx, PstrClientType, though I can see other methods in the documentation for eg. getEPMOracleHome() etc.. (All these functions that we can view using eclipse as an editor for FDMEE Dev).
Is there any other method in the FDMEE API that I should be using to replace these functions for FDMEE Support?
I have one more question regarding AIF-CUSTOM.jar file, what is the purpose of this jar, do we get any additional methods in this file

ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2 - Source adapter?

Could you please help on the following questions about ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2
1. In general, what is a source adapter used for?
2. In the FDM installation package, there is an adapter (ERPI-FIN-E) for ERP integrator.
I would like clarify if my understanding below is correct or not.
My understanding is that this adapter allows automation on execution of ERPi data load rules in the FDM application, which means we can kick start the data load rule of ERPi by scheduled FDM jobs.

1. Classic FDM source adapters are used to import data from native supported source system (EBS, SAP, ERPI) instead of files or databases. Let´s say that in some how the extract process is already packaged so you can extract from source system what the adapter does
2. You are right, as ERPI is a transition product between Classic FDM and FDMEE (11.1.2.3), there were some FDM functionality missing in ERPI. Therefore you had to use a mix of ERPI and FDM in order to get the full functionality. You use ERPI to extract data and FDM to process it (scripting, intersection validation report, etc.)
In 11.1.2.3, this gap is even smaller as now we have scripting, intersection validation report, and other functionality within FDMEE 11.1.2.3 (re-branded ERPI). The source adapter for Classic FDM still exists.
In 11.1.2.4, as classic FDM will not be available anymore -> no more source adapter :-)

FDMEE Jython Import Script - Split field function
Hi folks,
I have to admit, this Jython gives me heavy headaches!
Actually it is a simple challenge, but I am struggling around with it for hours now. Perhaps one of you guys can help.
I want to create an Import Script in FDMEE 11.1.2.3.500.17. The source file (tab delimited) contains a column with following entries:
What I want to achieve in the first instance is to import the figure after the first dot. E.g. from H-00275A.3.4.1 I want to import the 3.
I have written an import script, based on a sample script written in FDMEE admin guide (page 273):
I have assigned that script to the respective column in the Import Format:
Seems easy. But for whatever reasons it does not work. The problem is: even the log file is not helping, as it seems to be endlessly growing when I want to open it (after becoming 30MB I canceled). By the way: without that script Import works.
Any ideas? Help is much appreciated!

I have spent almost a day with troubleshooting. And in the end it was just one letter that I have overlooked, even though I have checked it thousand times!
I know that function name and script name has to be in line. Parce vs Parse won't work of course.
It works now!

Unable to load data from FDMEE staging table to HFM tables
Hi,
We have installed EPM 11.1.2.3 with all latest related products (ODI/FDMEE) in our development environment
We are inprocess of loading data from EBS R12 to HFM using ERPI (Data Managemwnt in EPM 11.1.2.3). We could Import and validate the data but when we try to Export the data to HFM, the process continuously running hours (neither it gives any error nor it completes).
When we check the process details in ODI work repository, following processes are completed successfully
COMM_LOAD_BALANCES - Running .........(From past 1 day, still running)
EBS_GL_LOAD_BALANCES_DATA - Successful
COMM_LOAD_BALANCES - Successful
Whereas we could load data in staging table of FDMEE database schema and moreover we are even able to drill through to source system (EBS R12) from Data load workbench but not able to load the data into HFM application.

FDMEE import script not working

I had a simple import script in FDM Classic that was removing every lines of data from a source file for every amount lower than 0.50 and higher than-0.50. The FDM Classic import script was:

DanI'd also say to stick with the BigDecimal data type unless you have a really good reason for using the float data type. If you start to multiply floats then you can end up with horrors like this if you're not careful where inaccuracies can start to creep in:

Issue with Loading COMMENTS in HFM ICT Module from FDMEE

We have a requirement wherein we can load all the HFM ICT Transactions from a Flat File using FDMEE. We are facing 2 issues:
a. Firstly FDMEE Target application allows us to map only COMMENT1 as a dimension for FDMEE. There is no Dimension/Place holder for COMMENT2. So how do we do this?
b. Secondly, COMMENT1 is by default mapped to ATTR11 of the Target Application in FDMEE. Now, ATTR3 is only VARCHR2(20) whereas the actual Comment Size supported by HFM ICT Module is 256 charachters. So how to we ensure that we can load a larger comment from FDMEE?
Thanks!FDM does not perform the consolidation function in HFM. It will caculate a Base Entity if you Enable Consolidation, Force Calculate, and Force Translate in the Integration Settings.

How can I fix an unmapped account in FDMEE
Hello,
I'm trying to understand where I can fix unmapped accounts (or any other dimension) in FDMEE.
In FDQM there was a FIX button, where you could fix it on the spot, or export to excel all the unmapped members, fix and reload.

LilachFDMEE 11.1.2.3 doesn't have the Fix Maps button functionality so you will have to navigate to the relevant mapping screen, locate the invalid mapping and change there or enter mapping if it is missing completely.

Hi,
We need to know if FDMEE 11.1.2.3.520 product supports restricting number of rows to be pulled from PeopleSoft's PS_LEDGER table.
All the records fetched from PS_LEDGER is getting loaded into TDATASEG table.
Currently, it is trying to pull all the records based on the given "period", "version" and "year" combination. We are looking to restrict rows based on specific account/entity/program/subprogram combination.
If this is can be done, will it be an out-of-the-box functionality or does it require any customization/import scripts/api.
Admin guide does say we can use Jython to filter rows using import scripts. However, it seems to be limited to file not a table as a source.
I have attached a document with the screenshots so that the issue is better understood !

When you set a column to hidden in a classic report using the method I described, it creates hidden form elements for that column.

You should inspect the source to figure out the name value.
Since this belongs to the wwv_flow form, we can therefore get this data with: wwv_flow.f01
Alternatively, you could have used the apex_item API to achieve the same result, which probably gives a bit better control.

As above, setting the column to hidden creates hidden elements on the page. It is simply f01 because that is the only hidden field I would have on my page. With four reports on the page, you would need to be careful not to do the same on the other reports, as you would get inaccurate data. For each report, setting columns to hidden always starts with f01. In that, you would be best to use the apex_item API.
I actually initially ran into this issue when i had a tabular form on the same page as a report with hidden fields, which was causing conflicts in the page processes.

The API functions available in FDMEE seems to be a subset of what was available in FDM. For instance, to import mappings we used to have API.IntBlockMgr.InterfaceMgr.fImpTRx in FDM. This is not working in FDMEE (Even after initializing FDMEE API). Could you please let me know the equivalent of this fn call in FDMEE or a way to automate the mapping import from flat files/custom tables. The admin guide has a very limited set of function calls in FDMEE. Any help is appreciated.

I guess tat function has not been implemented yet in the new API and not 100% sure it will.
But you can create a function in vb/jython to import maps into table TDATAMAP.
Take a look to the table to see which columns you need to import.

I've a client who is familiar & comfortable with use of FDM (classic) but we are starting a new project using 11.1.2.3 and it has been suggested that FDMEE must be used as the current FDM will not form part of future Hyperion installations.
I also found an Oracle Blog that seems to suggest much the same, yet refers out to a KB article that does not actually say anything much and to the lifetime support policy where it shows FDqM is supported till Apr 2018/2021. Is there an official policy on this, or does the Blog article cover this?

That is correct, FDM Classic last release is the 11.1.2.3.0 codeline. Beginning with the 11.1.2.4 version, FDM Classic will no longer be available, users will be required to move to FDM Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) in the 11.1.2.4 codeline.
FDM Classic is supported under lifetime support as you found, but that is only for the product as it stands. Any bugs or enhancements will not be resolved after the standard support cutoff, as noted in the Blog. -

How to execute SQL SELECT QUERY using VB in FDMEE
Hi Experts,
We are struggling with converting some of the FDM VB Scripts to FDMEE. While in FDM it was possible to simply create a RS Object, it doesnt seem to work in FDMEE. Can you please help me with some code samples that will help me execute SELECT Query and taking the output of the Query to Appropriate Variables.
Also it seems that the Accelerators in erstwhile FDM are no longer available in FDMEE. So we have to re-write our entire code all over again
ThanksThere are plenty of code examples in the FDMEE guide and al of the API methods are documented for both Visual Basic and Jython. Personally, I think, if you are having to re-factor your code because you have migrated from FDM to FDMEE I would look at doing it in Jython not the VB API. Jython is the scripting language that will be the mainstream choice going forward and athough the VB API is present to ease the move from FDM to FDMEE I wouldn't be sure how long it will be supported and you therefore may have to perform another code migration not too far down the line. Jython is a very powerful and easy to use if you spend a bit of time familiarizing yourself with the syntax and also opens up the opportunity to leverage the myriad of Java classes out there. Also all of your import scripts have to be in Jython with no VB alternative.
One other piece of advice is do not try and replicate allyour old code line for line. Look at what you were trying to achieve, assess whether it is still relevant or can it be faciliated by the new extended out of the box constructs and functionality FDMEE offers over classic FDM. -

perhaps one of you guys can help me here.
I am struggeling around with the HFM (11.1.2.3.500.17) to FDMEE drill through functionality. As far as I was told the only thing you need to set up ist the FDMAppName in HFM Application Settings and that's it.
But: what is actually the App Name in FDMEE? The Application Root Folder determined in the FDMEE application settings or the target HFM application?
Second question: I have tried both, but still I do not get the drill through option offered when right-clicking an input cell in HFM. May I have missed another setting somewhere?

Reason was: FDMEE - Setup - Target Application - Application Options - Drill Region was set to "No". Changed it to Yes. That was it actually.
FDMAppName within HFM Application settings has, as you said, apparently no effect in combination with FDMEE.
