How do i compare the similarities between two or more text files?

The subject says it all. I am familiar with a number of the diff tools that are available, but I have yet to find a tool or app that will find the similarities between two text files. Any suggestions?

how can i compare the contents of two folders and find out which files are in one but not in the other?? Knowing how to do this would be the best thing ever, especially when dealing with a large number of files. Often, for instance, I'm dealing with a large number of images, processing them, and saving the retouched ones to a new folder, and need to check that they are all there. If there are say three files missing in the second folder (out of say a hundred in total) being able to automate the process of elimination would be very useful. Please help!!!

I really wish I knew the answer to this. I work between two macs, a G5 and MacBook Pro when I'm on the go. Each time I move from one to the other I have to copy all my files to the computer I'm going to work on, so I end up with the same files being duplicated. It's not a problem if it's not much data but in my case the it can be to 30GB, mostly graphics files, photoshop, motion, final cut pro, etc.
There's has got to be a way automator can make a comparison between two folders to sort out what's changed and what's remained the same. It would be nice also if this feature could be done globally on the hard disk using spotlight's technology to stop files being duplicated in places you didn't even know about and taking up valuable disk space. I'm not sure how this could be done.
Any bright ideas Apple?

You can pass data between frames by passing it as parameters.
That is when you are invoking another frame, pass your data as arguments through the constructor to that frame .
You can also achieve this through static or public methods, but static variables as we know is not suggested which might occupy more memory space.

Okay, I haven't found a way to add an extra space using Find/replace, but you might be able to add some text wrap to the check boxes that will push the text away from them.
Open Find/Replace and click the Object tab.
Click the Specify attributes to find button to the right of the Find Object Format: field.
Under Basic Attributes, choose Stroke and then the Black swatch (assuming the black swatch is applied to the strokes of your check boxes). If there are no other stand-alone objects in your form with a Black stroke, this should be all you need. (If there are Black strokes on your table cells, they will be ignored.)
Click OK
Click the Specify attributes to change button to the right of the Change Object Format: field.
Under Basic Attributes, choose Text Wrap & Other > Text Wrap > Type: > Wrap around bounding box (2nd button from left)
Under Offset, set a Right offset at the distance you'd like to add (I don't know what units you use, but the 3-5 points might work for your purposes...might take some trial-and-error to get it where you want)
Click OK
Click Change All

How compare the code between two tracks in NWDS

We have NW04 Sp18 Portal with MSS & ESS Sp13.At present version we have made lot of custom changes.
Now we have to upgrade ESS to Sp14. As per the JDI cook book we are going to create new track.
After that how will we implement the custom changes to the new source code?
Is there any way to compare the changes between these two tracks to implement the old custom changes to the new source code?
Any tools available in NWDS to do this

Hi Gopala,
You won't like this answer, but unless you have documented all your changes very accurately, as far as I know it's basically the only option you have. Check out the content of both tracks and use a good diff tool to check the differences. Personally I use [WinMerge|http://winmerge.org/]

I'm trying to measure the time in seconds between each two successive rising edges on a digital input .
Till now I have managed to detect the rising edge ,increment a counter with each rising edge ,and snap the time at which the rising edge happenned
all I need now is to subtract the current rising edge time from the previous rising edge time in order to calculate (T) which can be 1/frequency and display it in realtime to the user.
but I don't know how to do this
Can somebody please help me !!!
note: the time that I'm measuring ranges between 200 ms - 2 seconds

Cheers for that. It's always a good idea to post your SubVIs as well - the problem could be in one of those.
To help you out:
You already know how to use shift registers so why not use one again for time? Create a new shift register for the time then simply compare the "rising edge time" to the the previous time stored in the shift register and then write the new time to the shift register.
Just a few other pointers:
1. You'll want to initialise your shift registers ie wire a constant to the left hand register outside of the loop. This will cause the register to be reset each time the program is run. This is so that your counter will start from zero each time you run your code.
2. You don't need to use the "greater than?" compare function with boolean as they can only be true or false (1 or 0)! The "Equal?" function is what you should use here.
3. Lastly, it's a small thing but you can use the same tunnel that feeds into a case structure in each of the cases - no need to create two tunnels for the true and false cases, use the same one.

Your output (0.2916666) has the unit day.
You should multiply with 24 to get the unit hour.

How to find out the difference between two payloads in the BPEL/xsl

We are invoking a soa service from a BPEL with 10 input parameters and getting the output for only 7 parameters (where 10-7=3 are not returned by service as they are not processed by the service due to invalid input data).
But the BPEL process should return the 10 payloads with 3 having the failures status.i.e need to find out the difference between input payload and the payload returned by the soa service.
Can any one tell us, how to achieve this.

How to go to the next Page while generating a text file ??

All,
I am generating a text File dynamically based on the information from the Database. I need to give some Page breaks after every 80 lines. Does any one has any clue how can I do that.
I am able to generate the file though.
Also I need to set the Font to Courier.
Please let me know if anyone has done anything like this.
I am using "BufferedWriter" for generating the text file.

Basically - I have to repeat the header if the records goes to the next Page. My records can increase decrease dynamically as the data is coming from the Database.
I do not know how to find out whether it has reached the next page or not ??

In PI how do I convert the XML payload (input) to a text file and send out

I am extracting data from SAP and sending thru XI / PI to a file (non-sap system).
On the receiving end, I need the file to be a text file, with one row for each "FTZ_Row concatenated_data" tag in the input. It needs to be just a plain text file with no XML tags.
Currently the file gets one record which matches exactly to the XML payload below.
I want it to create a file that looks like this :
           CONCATENATED DATA 1
           CONCATENATED DATA 2
            012345678912345678MAKTX-TEST LB 123123123123 01/02/2009 Z001WCHA9876543210.12

How do I calculate the difference between two times?

I am so embarrassed by the fact that I can't figure this out.
Cell B2- 8:00 am
Cell C2- 10:50 am
Cell D2- (How do I get this cell to calculate the difference and say 2:50?)
I know this is probably one of the most basic operations, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Cells B2 & C2 are formatted for 24 hour clock. But if I tell the system to just subtract the two, I get "0.118". Everything I find on the forum search goes beyond what I need. Can anyone help me?

I imagine there should be some sort of floating ruler hovering over each object and some cutting work to do to overlay one object on top of another while one object being transparent so that the length discrepancy is transparent.

Try using the Measure tool. It's in the same slot as the Eyedropper - keep pressing Shift+I until you see a Ruler icon. You can only have one ruler at a time, but if you open the Measurement Log window (from the Window menu), you can record the current one, draw another ruler, record that, etc.

How do i set the multiplicity between two entities to any custom value?

Hello people,
is there a way to set the multiplicity of a relation to custom values instead of only 1 or * in the logical model?
I really need to set it to "1..2" but can't find an option to set own numbers. What should i do? Shall I just create a note saying "1..2" and stick it to the corresponding entity? I'm used to do models in UML (visual paradigm - where you can change such things easily) but now i have to use the SQL Developer 3.2
I would appreciate any help.
