Apologies for making an incorrect suggestion. "Batch Conversion" is a feature in Acrobat 9 and above.
I'd suggest you use the "Open All" sequence > Double-click it to EDIT > For "2. Run Command On:" choose "Selected Folder" and BROWSE to the input folder. Similarly for "3. Select Output Location", you can choose "Same Folder as Original(s)", click OK and then "Run Sequence".
This would invoke the PDFMaker for conversion of Word documents to PDF and save the output PDF(s) at the folder mentioned, instead of printing and prompting to save the output each time Adobe PDF Printer is called.
Plus, could you please check if the Adobe PDF toolbar/menu options are there in Word and working fine?

How to automate the generation of SCB Indicator while raising Invoices?

According to our client requirements we are using different SCB Indicators(for Foreign vendors) in order to segregate the payments for diff. services. Can we automate this SCB Indicator while raising the invoices ? Else is there any other way to achieve this requirement.
We are using different sources to raise the invoices automatically like self billing process, other middleware i.e. from Non-SAP system etc.,
If we are raising invoices manually via MIRO / FB60 then we are giving the suitable SCB indicator according to the relevant service. Can we automate the generation of SCB Indicator while raising the invoices automatically ?

How to retain the hyperlinks when converting Word doc to PDF?

For adobe acrobat 9 pro, I can't figure out how to keep the hyperlinks working. If I create pdf from word doc by save as, it can't embed fonts, but links work. If I use "print" in word, it embeds fonts, but some hyperlinks didn't work. What to do to keep fonts embedded and links working? It drove me crazy! HELP!!!

Depends on the version of WORD. With OFFICE 2007, go to the Adobe menu and select Create PDF (this is PDF Maker). That will save the links. A similar process is needed for OFFICE 2003. With OFFICE 2010, you will have to upgrade to AA X or add them in Acrobat manually.

Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert 206 Page Word Document into PDF

As menetioned above, Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert my 206 Page Word Document into a PDF. The Word document was originally a PDF file that I converted to Word and it has split all the text into sections.
It sounds like converting a PDF into Word isn't the best way to edit, re-format and then save as a PDF again. I would love to hear your advice on this.

First before you recreate the PDF from the Word Document.
In word: Open Document
Next open a new Blank docment
switch back to Word click on the ¶ button
scroll to of go to very end of docment.
click just to right of the perion in the last sentence.
now go to very beginning of document
Hold down the Shift and click to the right of first letter in document.
Now choose copy.
Now switch to Blank document
Choose Paste special.
Now choose Text only.
If works all the words will be there spaced correct but with no ¶'s.
Now insert returns as desired.
Now save as a docx file under a different name.
IF you are on a Mac use the following directions:
go to File menu > Print > PDF Hold down PDF button until Context menu pops up.
Choose adobe PDF.
follow steps when the first window opens.
Save as PDF in desired location.
Now open the PDF in Acrobat. Document should be properly formatted and ready to go.
AS you've found The conversion is not seamless. Acrobat doesn't distingish between automatic end of line breaks and Returns and you have to put the pieces back again. I wish Adobe and MS would get over the jealouscy of each other and share howcode works so Thatapplications could work seamlessly together. BUt they never will.

Adobe Acrobat 9/Win7 - Inserting Word documents into PDF file intermittently leads to missing or garbled text?

Heya.
I have a user who is creating a PDF essentially compiled from inserting word documents into the position she wants inside of the PDF.
The problem is that sometimes this leads to missing or garbled text. For example, 6-8.1 is displayed as 6- .1. Which is just plain weird.
Other times, the text looks garbled or uneven. She turned off her PC but I took screenshots of both of these scenarios. I fear that I am not going to be able to retroactively fix the corruption in this document for her.
She says she's using very standard fonts. Like Arial. I asked if she could locate the original Word document that produced the garbled text, just for a sanity check. The problem is that her co-worker may have been the only one with that particular word document (there are probably hundreds which compile this PDF...) and IF she has it, she might not be able to locate it on her PC TO check what the original text is. Yikes.
Google-fu turns up very little. I tried the guidance in this document - https://answers.acrobatusers.com/We-combine-PDF-document-ends-corrupt-What-problem-q197619 .aspx[2] and a Save-As but no avail.

She states that she can manually fix the document but after a while it gets corrupted again? But I haven't observed that and she might have just fed me that to amplify the problem.

Edit: A LITTLE MORE INFO. I am able to select the corrupted text, paste it into Notepad with all the characters intact. So the characters are THERE. they are just not being displayed correctly.
Edit: They also do not print correctly. The page prints with characters missing, and she wants to print this document, so that is going to be an issue.

How to Automate the Generation of Active User List in SAP

Can you assist me with the following scenario?
Scenario:
From time to time, I am requested by client to produce the list of active users in SAP.
I retrieved this list from T-Code: SUIM.
User Information System > User > Users by Complex Selection Criteria > By Role.
Then I select all users by specifying the following value in Role field:
Z*
In the next screen, I clicked on Roles icon to produce the final layout. This list is exported as local file in Spreadsheet format.
Question:
Is there any way to automate this process? Can I schedule a job and whenever my client request the same info, I can just run that job and automate the whole process?

Off course there is! You're using BW (or BI whatever!)
One option:
Go to table AGR_USERS and select there by roles starting with Z* your desired users. But you still have to download to excel.
Second option:
Create an abap program that reads the table AGR_USERS and prints the information to the screen and/or to a excel/txt file. You can also schedule this program every day or every night for example.
Third option:
Create an extractor of the table AGR_USERS and build a query. You can feed the extractor every day or twice a day. Since you have the query, your boss can run it himself and stop bugging you! (You could try build a remote InfoProvider so the data can always be updated at the time of the query execution)

I want to be proprietary platform free! I want to be accessing apps and or data wherever they are and in whichever form they are in or best used.
Web techniques and protocols are where I think most of my effort will be focused.
One of the mediums (media) that I expect to use a lot is XML.
If I can find a simplified (generalized) explanation how this is done and how the parts fit together through and or with objects. If I can find references to texts and examples I will be very appreciative and very much less confused.
I am interested in using the Java programming language.

In order to publish a document you could try something like this:
IResource resource = ....;
IStatemanagementManager service = (IStatemanagementManager)ResourceFactory.getInstance().getServiceFactory().getRepositoryService(resource, "StatemanagementRepositoryService");
IStatemanagementResource smResource = service.getStatemangementResource(resource);
IResourceTransition resourceTransition = smResource.getTransition("lbl.skip.tobereleased");
boolean success = resourceTransition.execute();
Now this will only work if the user in the ResouceContext is an owner of the resource and if the resource is in "To be released" status.
For a better understanding of the process decompile km.appl.repository.service.statemanagement_core.jar and study the code.

Problem in converting Word Document into PDF after inserting EMF file

I have VB 6.0 program, which automatically inserts an EMF file in to MS-Word and converts it in to Post Script file and finally to PDF.
But the Size of the generated PDF file is too large i.e., 8MB
If am inserting an .PNG file in MS-Word and conveting it in to Post Script and finally in to PDF, the size of PDF file is somewhere around 330KB.
I am using Acrobat Distiller 6.0 for this conversion
Can any one let me how I can reduce the file size of PDF, if I insert an EMF file.

Saying a WMF file does not mean much. It could be a bitmap with 2400dpi or a vector graphic. WMF and EMF are wrappers that can include both. You may be best to open the WMF in PhotoShop or Illustrator and see if you can get a consistent size, possibly doing a copy and paste to WORD.

Problem converting Word Documents into pdf

Hi Folks - and Happy New Year to You!
I'm using version Adobe 7.0.
I written an e-book and can't get the darn thing to convert into a pdf file. Sometimes it works -- sometimes it doesn't.
I suspect the problem is with my many embedded graphics. I have created Microsoft Powerpoint slides, and have cut and pasted them into my ebook as objects inserted between the paragraphs of text.
When converting from the "Convert to Adobe PDF" button in my Word Toolbar, it gets all the way through and finally has an error at the end saying: "an error occured while creating a temporary file; Word was unable to write some of the embedded objects due to insufficient memory or disk space"
I have Adobe set with a password to protect copying, and the Word file size is around 1Mb.
My computer is only a year old, and I have 23 Gb of free space.
I'm using Windows Professional XP and Word 2002

Creating PDF files by using PDFMaker
You can convert Word files from within either Word or Acrobat. Because both applications use PDFMaker, you can achieve the same results in either application.
To create a PDF file from within Word:
1. Exit from all applications except Word to minimize processing time. To further minimize processing time, complete the following:
-- If the document contains several fonts, either reduce the number of fonts or replace TrueType fonts with Type 1 fonts.
-- If the document contains large or complex tables, reduce the number of columns and rows.
2. If the document contains hyperlinks, make sure that the page margins are .8 inch or larger.
3. To add features such as font embedding and compression to your PDF file, choose Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. (To create customized job options settings with these features, edit the conversion settings. For more information, see "Editing the PDFMaker Conversion Settings" in the Acrobat Help.)
Isn't it totally obvious to anyone that the margins have to be at least 0.8 inches for hyperlinks to work.....
I made a new page format slightly larger and increased the margins. After making the PDF file i trimmed it in Adobe. Worked like a dream...

Embedding word document into an Entourage email

In MS Outlook when you hit 'Send as attachment' in a word document it cuts the document into the body of an email. In Entourage it simply attaches it as a separate document that then has to be manually opened.
I'm in PR and need to make things as straightforward as possible for journalists - any ideas on how to get the body of a word document into an Entourage email??
