How to change sql server reports parameter direction in report builder 3.0

Hi All,
I have created few reports using Report Builder 3.0 with the data source as SharePoint list. i have created a web part page and added the ".rdl"
file, everything is working as expected. Later, i got a requirement to add a parameter to the report , i did that and when i ran the report in SharePoint page, the parameters shows right side and the parameter ribbon shows the dropdown control on top and "Apply
button" at the bottom. When i presented this to my manager, he says the parameter ribbon looks bad and suggested to put both the controls together and also instead of displaying at right side vertical, display it horizontal.
I have below queries
How can i change the direction of parameter ribbon from vertical to horizontal
How can i bring the controls together (e.g. dropdown list control and button)
How can i add buttons on the report in report builder 3.0
How to get/reflect the data in report without refreshing the page.
Can someone please guide me, how to achieve the above functionalities..
MercuryMan

Unfortunately, where the parameters are located and the button distance away from the parameters are not something you can customize. Here are the options available for customization:

  • How to change SQL Server security groups name after server rename?

A Windows 2003 server has been renamed from LAMDAMIRROR1A to LAMDAMIRROR2A and the following
sql has been run in SQL Server 2008 R2 on the server :
    exec sp_dropserver 'LAMDAMIRROR1A'
    exec sp_addserver 'LAMDAMIRROR2A','local'
However, although everything appears ok, the 5 Windows 2003 Groups (automatically created by
the SQL 2008 R2 Install) still contain 'LAMDAMIRROR1A' in their name. Does this matter ? Can the Windows Groups be just renamed (right click , rename) or will this cause problems ?
    The Windows Groups are :
    SQLServer2005SQLBrowserUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
    SQLServerDTSUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
    SQLServerMSSQLServerADHelperUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
    SQLServerMSSQLUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
    SQLServerSQLAgentUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
There are also Registry entries containing the old 'LAMDAMIRROR1A' name. Does this matter ?
    Should this be changed ?
    eg.
    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Machines\OriginalMachineName.
    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Services\Report Server\GroupPrefix.
    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\printers\Microsoft XPS
    DocumentWriter\DsSpooler\serverName.
    etc

    Hi,
If you have executed the sp_dropserver and sp_addserver in SQL Server 2008 R2, we need to verify if you renamed the SQL Server instance successfully. You can select information from @@SERVERNAME or sys.servers to verify if the renaming operation is completely
successful in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). If yes, whether you change the registry entries containing the old 'LAMDAMIRROR1A' name or not, there’s no impact on SQL Server Services. For more details, please review this article:
How to: Rename a Computer that Hosts a Stand-Alone Instance of SQL Server.
In addition, if you must rename the windows groups, you can just right-click the group in Computer Management/System Tools/Local Users and Groups/Groups and rename it, or you can create new groups with new names, for more details, please review this article:
Manage Local Groups. If there are some issues regards the Windows, you can post the question in the Windows Server forums at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?category=windowsserver . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
    Thanks

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    Restore of database failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTasks)
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a
backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

How to set SQL Server Login MUST_CHANGE, CHECK_POLICY, CHECK_EXPIRATION all to OFF with T-SQL.  SSMS will not allow me to change policies to OFF. Error: 15128 - The CHECK_POLICY and CHECK_EXPIRATION options cannot be turned OFF when MUST_CHANGE is

It appears you have to change the password first(it could the same password but an alter command needs to be done)

  • How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

The best solution is to create table type and pass the DataTable as table-valued parameter. I have an article on my web site about this:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/arrays-in-sql-2008.html
The full article is a bit of overkill for what you are doing right now, but just the few first pages should get you going.

  • How to change default Server NFS version in Solaris 10 ?

How to change default Server NFS version in Solaris 10 ?
I need to change default version of NFS server version, currently i have NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX=2, for changing NFS version i changed this variable in /etc/default/nfs, but still its using version 2,
Please let me know where else i need to change./
    Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Did you change the /etc/default/nfs on the server or on the client?
What is NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN set to? The NFS server is allowed to use any version in the span of NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN and NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX.
    NFS_SERVER_VERSMAX=4
The default of NFS_SERVER_VERSMIN is 2.
And, as mentioned, you will have to restart your NFS server for changes to take effect.

  • How to change ASE server name in windows

how to change the server name in Adaptive server enterprise running on windows

Windows is going to require a few more steps if ASE is running as a service.
Update all registry entries containing <servername> with <newservername>:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\SYBASE\Server
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SYBSQL_<servername>[ _BS | _XP ]
NOTE: Doing a registry search on <servername> will bring up a ton of other locations, eg, legacy entries, ControlSet00X, etc ... not sure if all of these have to be changed, too ...
NOTE: Haven't installed any of the latest ASE packages in windows so don't know if SAP's gone an changed the HKLM\SOFTWARE sub-branch name from SYBASE to SAP
    =========================
    In addition to Ryan's notes:
    - any other sysservers entries that refer to the old servername (eg, loopback)
    - any remote servers would need to update their external/remote logins, remote servers and/or proxy definitions ... as appropriate
    - if the ASE is involved in replication then you're looking at whole 'nother can of worms ... off the top of my head ... rs_databases, rs_idnames, rs_repdbs ... and of course any repdefs/subs that include the ASE name ?
    - obviously (?) any monitoring/maintenance/operational jobs ... documentation ...

  • How to find sql server backup was taken under compression mode

    Hello,
How to find SQL server backup was taken under compression mode ? I have disabled the Compress Mode backup setting but I want to make sure the backup is taken without compression.
Is there a script for that?
    Thanks
    JK

I have disabled the Compress Mode backup
That is only a default setting, in backup command you can always overwrite it to a different value.
