How to handle common system crashes in SAP Business One until you upgrade to SAP Business One 9.1?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release in this year with many feature enhancements in various areas, such as in Business Logic and Localization, Reporting and Analytics, Lifecycle Management and Support, SDK Features for extensibility, Infrastructure and Architecture, etc. , with this upgrade every organization using SAP Business One is also expecting that some previous System Crash problems associated with SAP Business One 8.8 or 9.0, will also be resolved with the advent of 9.1.
But until 9.1 is available in GA, we have to know and follow some procedures to avoid this situation. Through this blog we have addressed ‘How to handle common system crashes in SAP Business One until you upgrade to SAP Business One 9.1’. In below link you can have a look that what common system crash issues been reported and what solution given by the community members:

  • How to handle the system error messages?

    Hi...
I was doing File to RFC scenario with BPM. If i give the correct values for the Bapi Input it is working . If i give the some wrong input to the BAPI, it is not executing and the scenario is stopping. If i click on PE , it is going to the Inbound Queue.
If this type of issue occurs i need to capture the system error and store it in a database. Could you pelase help in this issue.
    Thanks,
    Leela

    Hi Leela,
You need to handle this in BPM. Check the thread describing how to catch exceptions in BPM.

  • How to diagnose a System crash?

My son has a 2010 iMac and it crashes about once a week.
I've serviced it with Disk Warrior twice. The first time it found a problem with the Volume map, but the second time nothing.
Can anyone tell me how to read the Console crash report?
As this is a total crash, I can't find any reports under the various application tabs that fit the dates in question.
    Where should I look, please?
    pete

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.

  • How Do I Diagnose System Crash Reports due to iMovie?

    Hi,
I have had iMovie crash on me around 12 times in the last few weeks.  I can see the system crash reports in Console, but not being a Programmer I have no idea how to translate or interpret them.
Whilst its reassuring that they are reported to Apple, how do I find out what is causing the crash?
    Thks

    Second report is a Spin:

  • Import problems and how to handle a bad crash

    Hello,
I am working on a system that I "inherited" because I am the only person left who has any idea about how it is supposed to work. :(
    Configuration:
    Oracle Base Version: 9.2.0.1.0 & OUI patch 2.2.0.2.20 & Oracle Patch 9.2.0.3.0
    Operating System: Windows 2000 Server
    Situation:
The SCSI controller on the mainboard failed taking the primary hard drive drive with it and damaging the HDD controller for the secondary drive. Thankfully I was able to bring the secondary drive back up online and get to the mirror which I immediately copied to a backup location. Unfortunately getting the mirror drive to be bootable under server2K has not been successful so I am focusing on recovering the data at this point.
    Problem #1:
Incredibly Rare backups of the database have been made and I have the backup files but one of the backup files (the most recent one) is corrupted. During import via the DBCA interface I get a "invalid EXT descriptor signature" message when it is unpacking the files. From my own research, this appears to be a screwup on the part of SUN and how they implemented some things via Java.
    Request #1:
Does anybody know how to fix this import issue with the backup files? (It will get me almost 2 years worth of data... remember.... Incredibly Rare backups...)
    Problem #2:
There is still about 10 months worth of data that is sitting in the database from the last corrupted backup. I have a copy of the entire C:\Oracle directory from the mirror drive so the raw data is available to me.
    Request #2:
Is there a way to import or merge this data with a working backup file (from 2005)? I'm under the assumption that 'overlay and pray' is not an option :)
    General Information:
The original Oracle server is part of a small domain that was setup to perform a dedicated task. I am currently performing the recovery efforts on a dedicated server setup at home which models the software configuration of the original server that died. I can import a backup file from 2005 without any issues and the OraDim & sqlnet files don't report any errors. I have no trouble accessing or manipulating the data via the Enterprise Management Console or SQL+.
Please forgive me if some of this is posted to the wrong section.
Thank you in advance for any advice and/or help!
    Jeff Beasom-

What you have been given is a toy.
I call it a toy because infrequent backups, inadequate training, and an antique unpatched database clearly indicate that your management has not taken this seriously.
It is time for someone to act like a professional and that appears to mean you.
Forget this forum, open an SR at metalink, and follow Oracle's support advice.
If your management has not paid for a support contract ... either they purchase one in the next 48 hours or ... update your resume and get out of there while you still have the skills to do so.

  • How to detect a system crash (shell script)

what is the easiest way to find out if the system has previously crashed or been powered off without a clean shutdown?
i am looking for a way to be used in a unix shell script. is there e.g. a specific text i can look for in a specific logfile?
a panic.log might not be enough because in case of power failure the system will not have time to write to that logfile.
    any help is greatly appreciated.

The shutdown codes are not documented anywhere that I know of. I've seen these mentioned, but I don't know whether they're all accurate.
-128: Battery or UPS dead (?)
-62: PMU did not detect heartbeat (PPC Xserve)
    -60: Thermal (?)
       0: Low power
       3: Forced shutdown
5: User requested restart or shutdown

  • SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 upgrade from SAP R/3 4.7 1.10

    Dear Experts,
Our client is going to upgrade current landscape SAP R/3 4.7 1.10 to ERP 6.0 EHP4. The Source system O/s is AIX 5.3 and database is db2 8.1. Client procuring new hardware for the target release ERP 6.0 landscape and the O/s is going to be AIX 7.1 and databse would be db2 9.7 FP3.
As part of the upgrade we are going to do initial upgrade in the mock server and vendor is going to provide mock server with AIX 7.1 O/S.  Current database size is 100GB, hence we are going to copy the production server data into the mock server using export and import method,
Here my doubt is can i install db9.7 directly and do the import (using compitable kernel)?, insteady of installing source database version 8.1 and later upgrading to db2 9.7 . Please clarify me whether can i go head and install the db2 9.7 and do the system copy using R3load.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hello,
You can go ahead for IMPORT with DB 9.7.
We completed an OS/DB Migration Project (which involves system copy using EXPORT/IMPORT) and we utilized direct newer version of DB2 on the target during IMPORT.
But please confirm whether the kernel of your release would work fine with DB 9.7 or not. Otherwise, there is no problem in going for higher version of DB2 here.
Small question -  Why you want to test the Mock Upgrade on DB2 version which is different than the current version on production server ? Or are you planning to upgrade your current DB2 8 to DB2 9.7 BEFORE the SAP Upgrade on all the servers - then the testing is OK I think (however OS is still the different - Or may be you will go for system copies for this too !)
    Thanks

  • How to handle errors in a file at sender side?

    Hi
I have done a file to proxy scenario.
I know how to handle errors on proxy.
But on sender side when picking the file if one the record have worng fomat its throwing mapping error and its not processing any record..
I wanted to process the records which have right format and data and  all remaining recrods which have wromg format should be send back to the sender as file.
    How to do this.
How to handle error in sender file.
    Regards
    Sowmya

    Hello Sowmya,
In your scenario Three ways you can validate the data.
    1) Before the data reaches into SAP system ie in XI system during Mapping or before mapping i,e in Adapter Module in the Sender side
    2) this option, is in the receiver applications side. ie. Validations will be taken care in the SAP system i.e in ABAP server proxy code.
3)Through BPM, If Mapping Exception Occures then through exception Branch you can send bad formate file to sender again.
Generally, it is prefer to more business critical validations in the Application System ie Receiver Application System (ABAP Server Proxy)
In this, you can have more flexibility of the validations as you are validating some of the SAP payroll informations as Personal ID etc.
Based on the complexity and flexibility of the requirement, you can either do this in the XI (if XI, ie Sender Adapter Module or Mapping) or in the ABAP proxy

  • Problems Accessing Photos After System Crash

    Hi,
Last night my system inexplicably crashed after working fine all day. I called Applecare, and they told me to clear everything and start from scratch. I had just used backup the night before so everything came over fine. I'm just having problems with my photos.
How I noticed my system crashed was that my iPhoto library disappeared, and when I went to open the files manually, they would not open either, saying they were corrupt. I went to DiskUtility and it wouldn't fix it either, so that's how I had to reboot everything from my backup drive.
So I open iPhoto and the pictures seem to be there, but they are "squished." When I click on them to open, the edit screen is blank. My albums also did not survive the reinstall (even though my playlists from iTunes did). I went to open some photos directly from my "iPhoto Library" folder, and they open fine in Preview. So I thought I would trash all the fake pics currently in iPhoto and import the good ones over. When I try to do that, it says the photos are unreadable or corrupt, but they work fine in Preview! (which they did not last night before I reinstalled post-crash).
Please help me save my 4000 photos!

It may not be a 'glitch' in the actual update so much as it could be that the update did not go through correctly.
Restoring the device as suggested is the best way to isolate exactly where the issue lies.
You can start with a first step of attempting a Hard Reset (Home Button + Sleep/Wake Button for 5-10s), however if this does not rectify the issue the next step is to attempt a Restore or alternatively force an update again of the device.

  • How to Handle Error Check in a BADI

    Hi all,
    I have implemented a BADI "IWO1_ORDER_BADI" with method CHANGE_COSTRELEVNCY.
I have put a check , which raises a error on some condition.
But my problem is that after getting the error the transaction stop in non-editable mode and doesn't allow the user to modify the error and also this method was in PAI.
Pls let me know how to handle this error.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Vivek
Since you do not really tell us on which condition you need to send an error message it is difficult to address your question.
However, since method CHANGE_COSTRELEVNCY contains the IMPORTING parameter IS_CAUFVD I could imagine that you might successful by implementing ORDER_SCHEDULE as well.
Perhpas the following scenario might work:
Check condition in method CHANGE_COSTRELEVNCY and set (e.g.) instance attribute MD_FAILED = 'X' (which you have to define in your implementing class)
Check error attribute in method ORDER_SCHEDULE
    IF ( me->md_failed = 'X' ).
      do_not_schedule = 'X'.
    ENDIF.
This logic assumes that your failure condition is due to values in CAUFVD and that the error message should suppress scheduling of the order (both of which might be wrong because we do not know what you want exactly...).
    Regards
      Uwe

  • Upgrade from SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.70 to ECC 6.0

    Hi experts,
I am currently trying to build some knowledge for my final project. (Working as an apprentice in computer science atm)
Main goal of the project is to upgrade our dev system to ECC 6.0.
As far as I understand it, ECC 6.0 ONLY works with NetWeaver 7.0. Do I need to upgrade to NW7 before I upgrade to ECC 6.0 or is there a all-in-one package, which upgrades both at once?
I browsed through a few upgrade guides but didn't really find an explaination I could understand...
Could someone describe the basic steps for such an upgrade? (Like: Copy System - Upgrade NW - Install Components....)
    Kinda desperate
    Thanks in advance!
    Sandro Bollschweiler
P.s.: I hope I used the right Forum for my question...

    Hi,
    When you upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0), the underlying technology within the SAP R/3 4.7 system is automatically upgraded to the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 version. It is one upgrade;
    SAP R/3 4.7   -
    > upgrade -
    >  SAP ERP 6.0
    SAP Web AS -
    >  SAP NetWeaver 7.0
The upgrade guides are you best place for information. The SAP ERP 6.0 has the steps to follow and all requirements.
For installations, please see the aptly named installation guide title "Master guide - SAP ERP 6.0". Both the upgrade and installation guides are available at service.sap.com/instguides.
For system copy info, see the SDN page: System Copy and Migration
There is some demo examples here too
    All the best,
    Mike.

  • SAP Idocs -How to handle response from target system

    Hi,
I am working on a scenario in which I will send Idocs asynchronously from SAP thro a SOAP adapter to a  webservice deployed on the target system.
After the Idoc data is posted in the target system, the target system will send the acknowledgement for the receipt(basically response message). How to handle this scenario?
SAP Idoc( outbound asynchronous)---> SAP XI3.0(soap adapter) ---> Target system(inbound synchronous)
Do I need to go for BPM to handle this situation?
Is there any alterantive to BPM.
If any of the forum members who have worked on the similar scenario could help me in finding a better solution,I will be thankful to them.
    Thanks,
    Leo

    Hi Udo,
Thanks for the info.My scenario is like this.
SAP R/3 Idoc -> SAP XI 3.0 <-> Webservice in the target system.
The webservice in the target system will receive the Idoc as a request messsage and send a response message synchronously.
Since Idoc is sent asynchronously( I believe Idocs sent from SAP are always asynchronous),there is no Proxy waiting in SAP R/3 to receive the response message from the target system.
If I go for BPM for the above scenario, will the BPM steps look like the following.
    1)Receive Idoc from SAP.
    2)Send Idoc sysnchronously to webservice
3)Receive the response from the webservice synchronously.
4.Post the response message to a proxy which can handle it further in SAP R/3.
Please note that my knowledge in BPM is limited and correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks in advance
    S.Banukumar
