How to open Designer in Linux environment.

I have installed Business Objects XI 3.1 on Linux 5.
Now I want to create Universe and Desktop Intelligence Reports.
1. How do I open Designer. In windows we can open it from Program file. How to do it in Linux environment.
2. Do we need to install client component on Windows and then connect it to Linux Bo server.

Kuldeep,
You misunderstood.
The client tools are Windows only. The server portion of the install can be on Windows/*nix.
The only way to launch Designer, Deski, Import Wizard etc. is from a Windows machine that can login to the CMS on *nix.
You cannot launch client tools from *nix.

Hi Rey,
Designer doesn't run on Linux, only on Windows (and probably won't be ported - apologies). To run other Oracle tools like Sql*Plus you need to add $ORACLE_HOME/bin to your PATH, after ensuring the ORACLE_HOME is set correctly. You should then be able to just run sqlplus from a terminal (e.g Konsole). To run JDeveloper you should also add <path to jdev>/jdev/bin to your PATH then type jdev or jdevw at the command prompt. It works on mine. I don't have a linux install of other iDS tools so can't say much about them.

Later opened console like this
start menu>Allprograms>oracle- orabpel1 >oracle process manager>bpel console
bpel console came and asking username and password.
username:oc4jadmin
password:oc4jadmin(tried without password also).
massage as Authentication failed.
i dint find any bpel desinger. how to open designer. is it correct process.

As you told jdevloper and soa suite version should be same..
if upgrade soa suite to 10.1.3.4, there is no version of jdeveloper(only 10.1.3.3).

How to open the OWB Design Center in Linux

Hi All,
Currently, our OWB10.2. is installed in the Window2003 server, I could login the servers and go to Program -> OWB -> Design Center to open the Design center and create my own project or mapping.
We just install OWB 10.2.0.4 in a Linux Ret Hat server, I don't know how to open the Design Center from the Linux.
Should I open it from the Linux server(How), or I could remotely launch the Design Center from my PC (Window XP) to create my project (actually try to migrate project from the weindow2003 server to Red hat Linux server)?

How to open -pdf in a secure environment

Opening PDF files from a secured account on Internet (e.g. telephone billing info) does not work. in Safe as the file is shown as _pdf (underscore instead of dot). We suspect this problem started after installing CS6, but are not sure. Win 7, IE 9, Reader XI

PDF on a regular website can be opened and downloaded. However, PDF on a secure website (https) looks normal with normal icon but double click gives screen for open / save / save as. ‘Open’ gives no result, no error message either. ‘Save’ or ‘save as’ shows screen with filename ending on _pdf, which cannot be opened or saved, no error messages either. Changing the filename into .pdf gives the same reaction: nothing happens, no error messages.
The same files can be opened on a different PC win7, IE9, Reader XI and similar software, but without CS6.

You cannot open an rpd on a Linux manchine.
You have to install the client (Admin tool) on windows and open the rpd remotely in online mode

Go to your <ODI_11g_HOME>/oracledi/agent/bin
and you will find agent.sh , agent_<standalone_agent>.sh and odiparams.sh and other agent files.
Step 1. Update your odiparams.sh
Step 2. Create the Physical and Logical Agent int your Topology using the same port_number and name provide while creating the Stand alone agent during installation ( or) create accordingly the agent in Topology with name and port number as required and make the modification in agent_<stand_alone>.sh file
Step 3. After doing so start your agent_<stand_alone>.sh
Step 4. Repeat the process 2-3 for any number of stand alone agent created on different ports and steps 1 to 3 for different Work repository

How to open a report stored in the CMS with the RDC ?

Hello,
With CRXIR2, reports can be stored in the CMS.
Does anybody knows how to open such a report with the RDC (version 11.5) ?
I really need to use the RDC because I have to save subreports on HDD
and it is unavailable with the RAS SDK (neither Java nor .Net).

Why saving subreports ?
- orthogonality reasons... we can import them, why c'ant we do the opposite?
- consitency reasons... we should be able to do the same as we do with the designer, (why this option is available in the Designer ?)
Furthermore, the job is already done in Crystal, it should not be so difficult to port it to the RAS.
- regression reasons... this is something we could do in the past (from Delphi, with the RDC), now the RDC is gone....
Now I will tell you my personal reason:
We have huge reports (about 30 subreports), based on huge business views.
As a result, just loading the report (openClientDocument) takes more than one minute.
In a production environment the custommers do not want to accept that.
So:
- we keep the business views at design time because it's a requirement
- Once the report designed I try to cut the BusinessViews and replace them by SQL commands
I suppose you know the RAS to be aware that it can't do that by far.
I wrote a program to disconnect all the ReportObjects from the BusinessView, it's Ok
Now I need to remove the BusinessViews from the report and all subreports.
I can automate CrystalReports for it, but only at the report level...
This is my particuliar reason for saving subreports.
Am I the only one to have this request ?
If you want, of course, I'm ready to help developing those missing things in the RAS.
I'm serious, tell me if you are interested.

PB G4 65W poweradapter broken, how to open it?

Hi all,
The cable running from the poweradapter/charger (model no A1021, 65Watts) to my PB G4/800 has frayed where it leaves the poweradapter/charger cabinet, thus rendering the adapter/charger unserviceable.
I dislike throwing it into the bin, not for the money but for the sake of the environment. I am willing to give it a repair go, just cut off about, say, an inch and resolder the cable to the PCB. However, I cannot figure out how to open i.e. take apart the cabinet.
Anyone any hints how-to? Or is this one of those devices for which holds: opening means breaking?

I tried and it turned into a nitty-gritty enterprise.
I do not encourage anybody to go down this path, but if you insist, without modellers’ skills and gear, you end up with an adapter that is definitely beyond repair.
On the other hand, unserviceable it already was, so who cares?
In short:
You cannot: the white soap-box like poweradapters for Al, Ti PBks and (some) G4 iBooks, were (probably) never designed with any kind of ‘take-apart’ in mind, in other words: opening indeed equals breaking.
It is held together by several glued ‘males/females” (like the two fuselage halves in a Revell or Monogram model aeroplane or boat kit, remember that?), about half a meter or two feet of single-sided sticky tape and 20 cm’s or 8 inches double-sided sticky tape and about 15 grams or half an once of silicon-putty, the same kind of stuff you will find as a sealant where your bathtub meets the surrounding tiles.
The longer story, and remember, I started this all in with the intention (or assumption if you wish) it could be done in a reversible way. How wrong that turned out to be.....
To open the white box, I used a small-teethed saw-blade, only the blade!
Method: Sway the adapter’s feet out, clamp the adapter in a vice, claws covered with rubber sheet.
I carefully sawed in the ‘equatorial’ grooves. Hence the small-teethed saw-blade.
Look often how ‘deep’ you have sawed, stop when still the thickness of, say, a sheet of paper is left. Sounds difficult, but it is not, you will slowly see copper and aluminium colours appear.
You cannot saw in the groove at the side where the feet hinge and the cord leading to the PB, leaves the box. Deal with that later.
Okay, I had three equatorial grooves sawed out and yes, I could feel some ‘movement’.
By repeatedly sliding and prying a wooden wedge through the sawgrooves and twisting the halves realtive to each other I managed to get some more movement. That all makes quite unpleasant sounds.
After carrying on like this for about a minute or twenty, suddenly the two halves popped apart with a very nasty ‘tschack’ sound: two male/females broken and the two feet came apart.
Oh dear, I had disrupted the bond between one side of a two-sided piece of sticky-tape and the upper housing (that caused the ‘tschack’ sound). To the other sticky side: a piece of aluminium sheet (0.4mm or 0.015 inch thick).
That piece of aluminium sheet on its turn had a rectangular opening in it through which a larger piece of copper sheet (0.45mm or 0.017inch thick) could be seen.
The aluminium and coppersheets were connected in a somewhat strange way: partly electrically isolated by sticky-tape and silicon putty and partly electrically conducting, i.e. metal on metal contact.
The copper sheet appeared to be U-shaped, the electronics ‘wrapped’ inside.
As far as the lower housing concernes: the aluminium/copper contraption repeated or mirrored itself more or less.
Metal sheet(s) as thin as decribed and bonded to whatever by two-sided sticky tape and/or whatever sticky putty, any attempt to separate those without damage will be futile. No, you wouldn’t leave it overnight in a bowl filled with something like white-spirit, since that will definitely harm the electronics.
There I was: with wrinkled and bend aluminium and copper sheets and hundreds of silicon-putty chips around the place. But the adapter had been opened!
I started to wonder why the adapter looked like it looked.
I think the aluminium/copper sheeting serves as a heatsink and doubles as electromagnetic shielding, hence the somewhat strange looking conducting/non-conducting sandwich and cut-outs in the aluminium sheets. Eddy currents and so forth.
The adapter is of the switch-mode powersupply type and the mains transformer is a pot-core. This hints towards a quite high switching frequency, say something like 100kHz. It needs to be that high in order to convert 65Watts in such a small box without ending in a disaster.
This means, the apater is also a potential 65Watt jamming station - be it without a properly tuned antenna - hence the elaborate shielding with copper and aluminium sheets and strategically placed cut-outs, conducting and non-conducting spots.
I succeeded in taking the frayed cord out, again, not really easy, since room is at a premium in the adapter, but it can be done.
Next surprise: the cord between the adapter and the PB -a piece of coaxial cable by the way- carries only two conductors: a plus and a minus (an up and a down or how you wish to label it).
Will I be able to put it all back together again?
Eh, NO!
Ironing out the wrinkles in the copper an aluminium sheets, forget it.
With the wrinkles the whole assembly will be too thick to fit (cram?) into the the two halves of the soapbox.
And for those who think the whole thing could be glued together with epoxy, the silicon-putty residues are all over the box, so the epoxy or any other glue for that matter, will not stick.
It is as simple as that.
However, I learned a lot from this.

I've never heard of the JRMC console, but as for jconsole, I just do it with
$JDK_HOME/bin/jconsolePerhaps I'm misunderstanding your question?
(Note: If you're looking for memory leaks, you may want to try a profiler like JProbe, JProfiler, OptimizeIt, or jvisualvm, which is included with the JDK, in the same directory as jconsole.)

For a SharePoint list LVWP - how to open links in new window? (Without SPD - Without access to server)

I have a SharePoint 2010 List with a field of type Hyperlink. I need these links to open in New Window. Only links with-in this LVWP should open in new window (and not links on Quicklaunch or top nav).

This script can be saved to a text file and uploaded to a document library. You can then add a content editor web part below your list view web part (so that it doesn't execute until after the list view has loaded) and set the "content link"

In portlet project, to navigate between pages, you should not use the URL property to link to a page. Instead, portlets use navigation via action handling. You use the Page Navigation editor to set up links to pages; that is, the navigation editor sets the action property.
Here is an example to hyperlink ans button to open a new page:

How to open a .MAT file in LABVIEW

Hey everyone,
I currently have a .MAT image file which I would like to open in LABVIEW to apply some image filters. However, I am unsure as to how to open the .MAT file in LABVIEW. Ideally I would like to be able to open the .MAT file without using matlab, and it seems the only way to accomplish this task is through the mathscript node. I have attached an example of the image im trying to open, as well as the LABVIEW program which I would like to use on the image. Thanks for the feedback! =]
