How to restore visited link state to unvisited

Hi all -
I have a pseudoclass which nicely shows a gray background
after being
visited.
After clicking in ie6 browser, the links remain gray forever!
I am unable to view in the pre-visited state to show a client
sitting next
to me.
I am viewing on my local machine
There are no cookies being set
Flushing cache doesn't do it
Closing browser doesn't do it
Even rebooting the machine doesn't do it
I guess my question is, "where is my WinXP machine
remembering the visited
state?"
Anybody know this one? Many thanks
CSS follows
a.inactive
{border: 1px solid #000000;color: #000000;text-decoration:
none;padding: 4px
7px
a.inactive:visited
{border-color: #000000; text-decoration: none;background:
#CCCCCC; color:
#000
a.inactive:hover
{border-color: #000000; text-decoration: none;background:
#B30000; color:
#fff

  • How to keep visited links from changing color?

FIRST, I want to say that it took me 10 minutes to find (accidentally) how to start a new thread.  In my profile?  Could it be any more obscure?
    </rant>
Yeah, I go to change page properties and make links and visited links the same color.  It still changes, and this happens to be on a page where the background color provides poor contrast to the color the links are changing to.  Is there a way to do this that is not overridden by the web gods?  Or whatever?
    Thanks

    Yeah, I'm a dinosaur.
Learned HTML from Elizabeth Castro's first edition; then went to DW MX,
where I am stuck.  Works for me, obviously with imperfections, as I am
hardly cutting edge multimedial gripping Web designer.
    Thanks for observations.
I'll ask for help again: I really, truly, cannot find how to start a
thread on the forum, nor reply to one, and all that.  I don't see any FAQ
tht elementary, nor anyone to e-mail for guidance.  If you can offer a
little of that, I will be grateful.
    Thanks,
    Denno
It's a very dated website using extremely outdated code.

There's a whole mix of HTML formatting and font tags in there which were
    deprecated 10+ years ago.

This all means that the website will behave in strange ways sometimes.

Although it can be fixed, it would take hours to debug, explain and
implement the changes required, particularly if you've never used CSS
    styling before.

You're better off investing some cash in a modern, well coded, CSS
formatted template which will give you a sound foundation.
    e.g. http://www.projectseven.com/products/templates/index.htm

Then you can add your content and get good results quickly.

  • How to backup visited links on Safari

    Greetings
You know, each time you visit a link, those links are getting highlighted on Safari as purple.
Due to my work, i cannot loose those visited links as marked .
I wanted to ask if there is a way to back up those visited links, so if i upgrade my OS system, that the visited links should always stayed as the way they are
I would like to upgrade my OS to maverick, but i am a bit in worry that i will loose those visited links.
Is there a way to back up this ?
    Thanks for your helps

    Hi there
I tried to reinstal a new system , and icloud couldnt bring back the "visited link which marked purple by the system"
So i swiitched back to old system.
Seems like iCloud is only backing up bookmarks, well, history partially yes, but not restoring the purple colors on visited links
It looks like this is somewhere hidden in the system .
    Any ideas?
My system is crashing, and this is crucial for me to instal a new system, but on the other hand i cannot loose those link, which are a lot, i mean a lot as i am a writer .
I really need help about that.
    thanks a lot , really appreciated !

  • How to restore the "Linked" attribute of a picture to "false"?

Just after importing a picture, the "linked" attribute of the
picture member is "false". When distributed, the data of picture is
    packed in the DCR file.
If some lingo code changed the "filename" of the member,
    like follow:
    member("MyPicMember").filename = ".\NewPicture.jpg"
The content of the picture would be changed. And as a
result, the "linked" attribute of the member would be changed to
"true" at the same time. A triangle appears on top right conner of
the icon of the picture member. If distributed again at this time,
the data of picture is not packed in DCR file. Picture file must
    exist beside the DCR.
Now I want to restore the "linked" to "false" (because I
want to write new projects based on the old, I want to let the
picture data in the DCR again). I found it is difficult to restore
it. The "linked" attribute can not be modified, whether in Property
Inspector or in code. I found the only method is delete the member
and import again, manually, one by one. But there are many pictures
in my program, so it makes me tired.
Anyone tell me a good method to restore them? I hope it can
    use code to do it.

put the following handler in a movie script:
    on mUnlinkBitmaps
    cl = the activecastlib
sel = the selection of castlib cl
    anz = sel.count
    repeat with n = 1 to anz
    repeat with m = sel[n][1] to sel[n][2]
    memref = member(m, cl)
    if memref.type = #bitmap then
    fname = memref.filename
    if fname.length then
    memref.importfileinto(fname, [#trimwhitespace:0])
    put "imported:"&&memref
    end if
    end if
    end repeat
    end repeat
    end
select the members you want to import (or "select all" to
import all linked bitmaps) and type
    mUnlinkBitmaps
into the message window and press return.
you can also take a look at my handlermenu tool:
    http://www.farbflash.de/cgi-bin/blosxom.cgi/Dokumente/Director/Tools/handlermenu.html
which has this among other authoring utilities in the
    utilities menu.

  • How long do visited links stay purple?

When I directly click on or open a blue underlined link in a new window (or tab), the link I used to open the new window or tab turns purple, indicating that it has recently been visited. I know that at some point in time, the visited link (purple), turns back to the normal color of light blue. A few years ago, I remember finding an option (I think it was Firefox but I'm not certain) to set the length of time a visited link remained purple. Does anyone know if this is a feature that be changed?

You can look at these prefs on the about:config page to make sure that you keep history.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days (180) (also affects saved form data)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days_min (90)
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the Browsing History.
    * Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
    * To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"

  • How to restore the link between on screen library item and audio file?

Do you have a BORKEN LINKS problem?
I'd like to share a useful discovery.
I have read a number of posts both here and other forums concerning 'broken links' problem after moving iTunes music folder to an external drive.
ie. In the iTunes window you see a long list of playlists on the left (blue tinted) column and song names and details in the other columns but when you try to play a song a message tells you the link is broken and ! appears to the left of song name.
Broken links can easily be restored if you use SMART PLAYLISTS.
Note: I'm not sure about manually created playlists, so take care.
How to repair the broken links:
    Step one:
Make a back up copy of 2 important files,
the current iTunes library and iTunes Music Library.xml files
place copies somewhere away from the iTunes folder.
    Preparation:
first go to iTunes Preferences and in the advanced settings page, uncheck the two boxes, Keep iTunes Music folder organsied : and Copy files to files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library.
Method A. only some links broken.
Within iTunes highlight each of your playlists in turn**, highlight all the songs listed and hit the delete key on the keypad. Don't worry all the category info will not be lost, keep the playlist window open so you can monitor the link repair progress.
In the FILE menu, click on 'add to library', and select the artist folder containing the songs you just deleted. Click on the choose button, and soon all the songs will appear once more in the song list window complete with all associated info that you have previously added like genre, comments, grouping.
    Method B. all links broken.
If your entire song list has broken links like mine did (ie when you try to play the song a ! appears to the left of song name, restoring the entire list is easy, having made the settings mentioned above, click on 'add to library' then select the iTunes Music folder itself, in a short time all the songs will appear on screen as before you deleted them with links restored.
    NOTE
**For this reason it is a good idea to create a smart playlist corresponding to every Artist folder that appears in Finder, this greatly facilitates any future repairs of broken links in batches. In fact there is an advantage in making all the playlists of the 'Smart' type and taking the time to fill in fields like Genre, Comments, and Grouping as this information allows the application to place every song into at least one category which can be named when setting up the smart playlist.

Replying to my own post here
Apologies, this question should have been placed in Apple Mac users section.
If you are a windows user please ignore unless you use iTunes also on a Mac :o)

  • Visited link color on unvisited links

This isn't a major issue, just a curiosity, but does anybody know why I often find links on Google and Wikipedia and the like that are purple, like links to pages I've been to, yet I've never visted them? They're not websites I don't remember visiting; I've checked my history to the past year, and nothing.
    Who knows why this is?

I DO see what you are talking about, Jeff. After I visit the links embedded in your paragraph of text, they change to the same color as the rest of the text. And unless I move the mouse cursor back over the text and cause the link to underline I would never know that the link existed. I can see how this could be a potential problem for visitors.
I'm afraid that the only way to change this behavior currently is to go into the CSS files published by iWeb and make edits there. I'll include the link to Michael Wong's tutorial page on doing just this here in case you get motivated...
    Hyperlinks and CSS in iWeb
Otherwise, the workarounds that I would suggest would be to either not have your links embedded in a paragraph of text (probably less likely to happen). The better workaround is probably to change the color of your NON-hyperlinked "background" text to something else.
I know all this workaround business and CSS editing business is annoying. Let's hope that future versions of iWeb incorporate a little user customization in this area. Good luck to you, Jeff.

  • Bootcamp did not partition correctly - how to restore to previous state?

    hello everybody
I carefully read many threads that were similar to my problem, yet did not find a response. Here the details:
I have a MacBook Pro running the latest version of Leopard (bought in March 2008). On the hard disk I stored a lot of pictures that I don't want to loose (just in case you suggest reformat/erase and reinstall). My hard disk has 186 GB.
I used BootCamp to make a second partition for Windows: 171 GB for Mac OS and 15 GB for Windows XP. I startet then the Windows install from the BootCamp Assistant. The very familiar screens of the Windows installation followed, up to the point where Windows required me to choose a partition on which to install Windows. Contrary to my expectation of seeing exactly the 2 partitions I had previously made, the list just showed one partition of 131 GB which was shown as unformatted. I panicked because I understood that something went terribly wrong and I chose the F3 "Quit without installing" option.
After that I tried to reboot the computer without any CD in the CD drive and I got only a black screen with a cursor blinking in the left upper corner of the screen. When booting and holding the option tab down I get only an options - Windows- which brings me back to the blinking cursor screen.
I printed the Apple documentation for troubleshooting installations and I started the Disk utility from the MacOS installation disk. The recommandation was to go to First Aid and repair the volume. However, although my hard drive is shown, the logical volume is not shown in the First Aid tab, so that I cannot repair or check anything.
Definitely Boot Camp is the evil-doer. I think it messed up with my boot sector and that is why I do not see any partition now, I just see the physical disk (as in hardware list). I have the slight suspicion that my disk is in perfect state, except for the first sector that actually holds the key to how to read all the other sectors. Here the theory:
"The first sector is called the boot sector and contains the Master Boot Record (MBR). The MBR contains the information concerning the location of partitions on the drive and reading of the bootable operating system partition."
Would anyone happen to know a small command line utility that just repairs this sector? I wouldn't mind to have it restored to the initial status, that is with the OS X operating system and one big partition.
Please help me with an option which allows me to return to my previous installation of MacOS without loosing the data on the hard drive.
    Thanks a lot.

  • How to restore broken links after server migration in Indesign CS3???

    Hi All,
I have used my google skills to no avail and everything I have read here has been a dead end for me. I can't be the only person in this situation, so hopefully someone can help!
My marketing department has reached the storage limits of our shared network drive. Located on this drive is our (HUGE) image library which acts as a single central respository serving up our indesign links (read here: we don't package files - to conserve space). We have decided that in an effort to create a true archive and have more space for our image library we need to migrate the library to a new 16 terabit Drobo (yay!).
The problem is that every INDD file that links to the current library will now suffer from broken links. We literally have hundreds of INDD files and thousands of links. The good news is...the file structure isn't changing at all! Just the server location is changing. Is there any way to to a batch update of the links that tells INDD to look for the exact same file path on a different drive?
    In short:
current image library (old server): marketing/image library/photos/products/multiple product folders
new image library (new server): drobo/image library/photos/products/multiple product folders
I want to point InDesign to the new server and have it pick up the file path without having to navigate to each and every file individually. Voila!
Is this even possible? Is there any 3rd party software to help? Other architechture solutions that might be suggested?
Thanks so much for the help!
    Alex

You can specify a platform-specific path name, or a path in a  platform-independent format known as universal resource identifier (URI)  notation, or Mac OS 9 path name (for Mac).
For example any of the following notations are valid:
    Windows
    c:\dir\file (Windows path name)
    /c/dir/file (URI path name)
//10.44.54.70/Test/images (uniform naming convention (UNC) path name of the form //servername/sharename)
    //Apple/Test/images
    \\10.44.54.70\Test\images (Windows path name)
    \\Apple\Test\images (Windows path name)
where 10.44.54.70 IP  address of the server, Apple -- DNS name of the server, Test -- share name
    Mac
The following examples assume that the startup volume is MacOSX, and that there is a mounted volume Remote.
/dir/file (Mac OS X path name)
    /MacOSX/dir/file (URI path name)
MacOSX:dir:file (Mac OS 9 path name)
    /Remote/dir/file (URI path name)
Remote:dir:file (Mac OS 9 path name)
Remote/dir/file (Mac OS X path name)
You can just copy a part of the path in Links panel and paste it to the script's dialog. In CS4, make sure to choose "Copy Platform Style Path" in context menu.
The case of the characters doesn’t matter: you can type both in upper and lowercase in the script's dialog. For example  — Test, test, TEST, TeSt — are all the same for the script.

  • How to revert back to the last version - I lost ALL most visited links and my Norton Safe master logon

Please, I am partially handicapped, and with the new version 4.0, I have lost ALL my Most Visited links and history, plus my Norton Safe master log on manager is also gone. (Typing in difficult for me)
Regretting this upgrade BIG time, I want to revert back to the last version but cannot find any instructions anywhere.
One blog entry I read said that the revert process (not explained how) made that person lose ALL their bookmarks.
There was NO warning that this 4.0 version would do any of this, and this is unacceptable, my favorite browser for a long time has me wondering now if I should go to Chrome!

Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload, Stop, & Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar. Only one function is ever active at any one time, so combining them save UI space was a good idea. When a page is loading, it is a "Stop" button, when it finished loading, it turns into a "Reload" button, and when you start to type something into the Location bar it turns into a "Go" button.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
    * Open the "View > Toolbars > '''Customize'''" window or right-click a vacant area on a Toolbar, ''except fot the Bookmarks Toolbar''.
    * Then drag'n'drop the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the Location bar.
    # Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    # Set the order to "Stop - Reload" to separate them and get two distinct buttons.

  • , I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive. Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing, Can't play music .. how to restore back to original state .

I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive.Cant play any music as it "can't find" the library  Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing.   How to restore back to original state . I have tried re-installing  - with no change

I do the same thing as you do...
My music is on an external drive as to not use up gigabytes of storage that need not be used for media.
There are a couple basic principles to iTunes that I believe you should know.
    1. iTunes is not a media storage program. It does not store your media "in iTunes". It simply is an organization tool for your media already on a hard disk.
    2. As iTunes is not a storage mechanism, it has no way to "know" whether or not the media that is listed is actually there. This is where the "design" of iTunes comes into play.
I like to think of iTunes as a bread-crumb trail. The "music" in iTunes, isn't actually there. The bread crumb is the location on the external hard drive.
If that bread crumb trail disappears (in this case the external drive you use). If said external drive is not plugged in, that bread crumb trail is not able to be followed. iTunes is "lost" and unable to find the media. The only way to remedy this is to place the media on your local drive.
To address your issue of the library. If you hold down shift, you can select your library on your external drive. It will be a file with an .itl extension. The folder name will be your external drive.
I go into edit > preferences > advanced and set my library to the correct location. Make sure you check the box "Copy to iTunes Folder when importing" (or whatever it says).
You can't fix the issue of iTunes not seeing the media if your drive is unplugged unless you physically move the content to your OS HDD...Or any other HDD you use.

  • The link to deleting temporary internet files found under the Tools tab has disappeared. How do I restore this link?

The link to deleting temporary internet files, cookies, etc. has disappeared from the Tools tab. How do I restore this link?

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history#w_how-do-i-clear-my-history
Also Firefox uses a Cache and not IE's temporary internet files.
edit: fixed a autocorrected word by PlayBook that I missed.

  • How do I restore thumbnail links to videos in iphoto?

how do I restore thumbnail links to videos in iphoto?

If the connection to the file is lost then you have to ask why. If the file has been moved or  renamed, restore it to exactly how it was. If the link has failed because of database corruption then you're best to rebuild or restore from a back up.

  • How to full restore OS X state to a specific date from Time Machine backup?

Hello! Could someone please advice how to restore the state of my iMac to a specific date?
    NOT to the latest backup?

The only way I found to make a full restoration of OS X to specific date from a TM backup is to launch OS X in recovery mode (Cmd+R during startup) and then choose "Recover from Time Machine". Full restoration took approx 2 hours.
Dislike it very much. During my being a Windows user I could roll back in a matter of minutes with system utilities
