How to suppress click sound on click boxes

We are trying to suppress the click sound when user clicks on
a click box. We see how to suppress the sound on the mouse , just
not on the click box. Has anyone been able to do this?
Thanks.

See this technote... I put the stop.swf file on the first
frame of every project I build and set it to display for the rest
of the project.

  • How can a click box support CTRL/SHIFT/ALT in Captivate?

    Hi all,
How can a click box support CTRL/SHIFT/ALT in Captivate ?
i.e., It can support click, double click, and right click, can it support "CTRL/SHIFT/ALT" when clicking?
I need this feature because some user operation requires this.
        We're using Captivate 5.
Could anybody give me some suggestion?  Tahnks.
    Joseph

Although you can add Ctrl, Alt and Shift shortcuts to click boxes, they may or may not work, depending on the context where the presentation is running.
The following comments relate to Captivate 5 presentations.
If you publish the presentation as an exe file, Shift and Ctrl click boxes will work, but not Alt click boxes. Right-clicks won't be detected, either.
If you publish as htm + swf for viewing in a browser, you can avoid the right-click problem, but which  shortcuts get detected depends on which browser is being used.
I have tested Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, with the following results:
Alt: No browser passes Alt shortcuts through to the Flash player. If the Alt shortcut is meaningful to the browser itself, that's what happens (e.g., Alt+T will display the Tools menu in Internet Explorer; otherwise nothing happens). Note: Alt click boxes work when you test the presentation in an F8 preview window, but they don't work when the presentation has been published, so the F8 preview is misleading.
Ctrl: All except Internet Explorer pass all Ctrl shortcuts to the Flash Player, so they are generally safe to use if you can ensure the user will not view the presentation in IE. IE keeps most Ctrl shortcuts for itself, but there are a few (e.g., Ctrl+G) that IE passes to Flash, so you can use Ctrl+G freely, knowing it will work in every browser. Ctrl+M and Ctrl+U are two others
Shift: All, including Internet Explorer pass Shift shortcuts to the Flash Player. I have sometimes therefore set up a simulation with click boxes that look for a Shift+ shortcut key instead of Alt+, and included an apologetic prompt to tell the user to do so.
It's a mess! It is essential to test your simulation in whatever environments it will be used in, and adapt it if some shortcut you really want to use doesn't work.

  • How to add click box/button to QUIZ slides??

We have a basic quiz for our online course. At the top of the
quiz we have a navigation bar with next, back, main menu, help, etc
which we use a click box to make link.
However, when we're on a quiz slide the click box and button
option are grayed out. You can't access them at all. How can we fix
this?? We HAVE to have the top navigation be functional as it is
for the rest of the slides. Help!

I'm having the same general problem you are.
I got this response a few days ago:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=464&threadid=1374767
Its a little different question but I think the answer can be
applied to both: Its not in the program to allow users to fully
customize question slides. Unfortunate, but a reality I guess.

  • How can I get a click box to interact with a text entry box on the same page?

I'm creating a tutorial on using a specific system and trying to recreate what the end user would actual do in the system.  On one slide, the end user must enter text into a field, then press a button (click box) to advance to the next slide.  I want to be able to have the click box validate if the text entry is correct before advancing to the next slide.  Is there a way to get the click box to validate the text entry?  Not sure how to get the two objects to "talk" to each other rather than function independently.
Literally, I want the end user to enter the data in the text entry box, then click on the Get button.  I need the Get button (click box) to both validate that the data entered in the text entry box is correct and, if it is, advance to the next slide.  If the data is incorrect, I need the Get button (click box) to show the failure caption and have the end user re-enter the data correctly.
How do I get the objects to work together?

    Hi there
You need to delete the Click Box. Yes, you heard me. Delete the puppy.
I  know it sounds weird. But bear with me. After you delete it, double-click the Text Entry Box. Then click the Options tab. See that option called Show Button? Click it and click OK to dismiss the TEB properties.
Now you have the button you want. If you don't want a button, double-click it and set it as transparent. Remove the text. Position as desired where the Click Box was before.

  • Sound with Click Box

    Hi,
I have a series of photos on a slide and for each an audio
track. Currently using a rollover caption (minus the text) to play
the sound track. The client would prefer to be able to click on the
photo to hear the audio track. How can I do that? I have tried the
clickbox but it plays the imported audio as soon as the slide
    appears.
Any help would be appreciated. As usual, thanks in advance
    for the help!
    Gary

    Hi Gary
What you could do is change that Rollover Caption to a
standard caption. Well, sort of. Unfortunately there is no magickal
way of changing from one type of object and transmogrifying to a
different type of object. So you would need to delete the rollover
caption. Then insert a standard Text Caption and configure it as
you have the rollover. The trick here is that you would stage the
Click Box object so that it paused the slide at a particular spot.
Perhaps at half a second in. Then stage the invisible Caption with
the audio to begin at perhaps 0.6 or 0.7 seconds in. Configure the
Click Box to simply Continue (That's the default setting anyway).
The end result should be that the slide pauses, then after
your user clicks the Click Box, they hear the audio.
Hopefully this was helpful to you... Rick

  • How can I automatically close a dialog box using Javascript after I click the OK button to submit it?

How can I automatically close a dialog box using Javascript after I click the OK button to submit it? I don't want to have to X out of the dialog box after I am done.
    Thanks
    Linda

JS can not interact with open dialogs in any way, unless it's a dialog
created in JS using the Dialog object.

  • How can I click on a photo to enlarge it in a separate box?

How can I click on a photo on my webpage and show an enlarged photo of it?  Everything I read points to "thumbnails" under "slideshows".  I do not need a slideshow, just an enlargement with a text box.  Help.

If Thumbnails or Lightbox slideshow widgets do not fit your purpose and if its just a placed image on a page that you'd like to show an enlarged version of when clicked, you can simply use the Hyperlinks -> Link to File option to link it with a larger version and select the option to Open the link in a new window or tab from the Hyperlinks tab in the Control bar.
Following the above method would not allow you to place a text box as its just a static asset that you are linking to, however, you can choose to add the text in an Image editor program (or even Muse for that matter), save and link it. Or you could place the enlarged image on a separate page with text and everything and link the image to the page.
    Thanks,
    Vinayak

  • How can I click on a button and make a text box appear or disappear

How can I click on a button and make a text box appear or disappear?
Thanks ahead of time for your help,
    Doug

    Hi Denes,
I just thought that the example you pointed the OP to, is far more complex than what I understood he needs. The OP was talking about using a button, which I thought was a very basic and simple case. Your example is much more complicated. If memory serves, the radio group item, at the time (prior to 3.1 fieldset) behaved differently, so you needed to create a new value retrieving function, and then was the need to preserve the items show/hide status upon reloading the page. In short, I thought maybe I didn’t see the complexity in the OP post, but it seems that his requirement was indeed a simple one.

    Arie.

  • How can i get a right-click click box to work?

I am using Captivate 7 and to accurately mimic the software I have inserted multiple right-click click boxes but without success. After reading previous posts, I have tried the following:
    - publishing to SWF and HTML5
    - publishing to the default folder and launching the HTML from there (i can see .css and .js files in the folder as well)
    - unchecking "Enable Accessibility" in Publish Settings
I'm very new to Captivate so any help or advice you can give on this would be great.
    Thanks

Read this post about Flash Global Security:

Not having the publish folder location set up as a trusted location can also cause right click to fail.

  • How to make a Click Box URL open in a new window?

Hullo, I am having an awful time being stumped by what I am sure is a totally simple solution that continues to evade me:
How can I set a click box set to open a URL to open that URL in a new tab or window?
My click box "button" appears on a slide in the middl eof the presentation, and I'd like the user to be able to click on the hyperlink and not navigate away from the video.
    Thanks!

    Hi there
    What version of Captivate?
Typically there is an option to click just to the right of where you type the URL.
Below is an image of the version 5 properties.

  • How do i create this kind of click box?? HELP

    Hi There,
How do i create a click box that when you double click it a
black dot is displayed. Im sorry if im not being clear. I mean a
dot in the middle of a circular click box. When you click multiple
    choice, sort of.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
    Simona

    Hi Simona
If I'm understanding you correctly, you are referring to what
used to be known as a "Radio Button" and is now preferred by
Microsoft to be called an "Option Button". Captivate doesn't allow
these to be created. One possibility is to use two images to
achieve the effect. The "Unfilled" or "Un-Selected" image on one
slide and when clicked it would display the 'Filled" or "Selected"
    image on the next slide.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to avoid double-click to click-box

    Hello,
until now I did not find a solution for this problem:
I have created a training course for a specific application, and in this coure are some click boxes on which the user should click. On many click boxes should the user click only once but if he double-click the click box, in real application nothing happens. There is only one way to succes the action - one click. But in captivate when the user double-click the click box instead of one click it evaluate as success action (the click box is set only to one click, double-click checkbox is not checked).
So my question is, is there any way how to avoid double-click in cases where the user should click only once? Or in case he double-click the click box to show failure caption?
    Many thanks.
    Lukas

    Hi all
Interesting thread. Unfortunately, what would be needed here is some sort of a widget that would run some internal timer. Sure, you can try multiple Click Boxes and configure one with a Single Click and one with a Double Click. But the problem with that (as I see it) is regardless of what you might try, the Single Click will win out every time. Thus you would need a widget of some sort that would "listen" for a Double Click and respond appropriately.
    Tough call... Rick

  • Captivate 4 No Click Box Sound

I have an upgraded version to Captivate 4. I am attempting to create a simulation with click boxes. Everything is working well with the exception of the click box sound. When I play the movie, there is not a mouse click sound when I click the boxes. I have not checked the "Disable Click Sound" box.
I think I must have changed a setting somewhere because I did not have this problem with Captivate 2 or 3.
I've included snapshots of the Click Box settings and the Publish Settings Preferences.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • How to add an audio click box on a quiz slide - adobe captivate 6?

    Hi,
I'm trying to add an audio click box on a question slide. It works brilliantly on normal slides but theres no option to add a click box on quiz slides.
I'm trying to add audio on click. So, when somebody clicks that area they will hear a sound. Is there a way to do this on a question slide?
    Thanks

Replace those old click boxes by shapes configured as buttons. Have a look at this post:

  • How do you change the click box properties (line colour and width) in Captivate 7.0?

How do you change the click box properties (line colour and width) in Captivate 7.0?

Yes certainly, we can do that, insert a smart shape and use it as a button, then go to the properties pane, change the Alpha to 0, that will make it transparent, and add the stroke color as red and increase the width.
In case of a button, you have to select button type as transparent and do the same.
    Thanks.
