The important thing to remember abuout iPhoto is that it's a database. And like any db, the data must be imported into it. By default, when you import the pics to iPhoto they are copied into the iPhoto Package File in your Pictures Folder. If you have NOT changed the default, then yes, you can trash the pics outside of the iPhoto Package File.
Most people do this.

I'm completely new to the whole Apple world and have ran across this issue. How can I read books, that I've purchased through iBooks on my iPad or iPhone, on my Mac? Surely this is possible, but I just can figure out how Apple intends for us to do this.

Sure seems short sighted on Apple's part not to have this functionality. This will drive my purchasing decisions to Kindle.
I'm sure that there has been plenty of negative feedback already directed to Apple for this decision. Does anyone know whether or not they have listened and if they have any plans to correct this issue?

How can I delete permanently books purchased from ibooks

Is there a way to delete purchases permanently from iBooks? I can delete from the library, but you can still see them under purchases; I don't want them under purchases; I don't want to see them ever again.

I was unable to delete a book sample from my iPhone 5s running iOS 7. This seems to be what worked for me. I went to the Library and clicked "edit" in upper right side of the screen. I then tapped one time on the book I wanted to remove and a blue check appeared at the bottom right corner of that book (presumably you could tap several at a time) Anyway, when the blue check is on the book, you will see in the upper left of the screen the word "Delete" (mine was in red) I clicked that and then a confirming dialog came up from the bottom of the screen with the choices of "delete" or "cancel". I chose "delete" and the book was gone. Hope this helps.

How do I put my ePub books back in iBooks?

I purchased some hardcover books from Baen Books and got free cds with the epub format of the books on them.
I downloaded the ePub to Dropbox, and selected open in iBooks to add them to my iBook library. With the most recent downgrade ("update?") to iBooks, all of those books were deleted, and when I went to Dropbox to put them back, I am told that this file format is not supported.
Do I have any alternative other than switching to Android? I would rather not switch, as I have bought just about every Apple computer since my Apple II, (I even had a Lisa) and currently have 4 iMacs, a Mac Mini, 4 iPads, 3 iPodTouch, and 4 iPhones active in my household. If I switch, I cannot just buy one device, as I do not want to support multiple platforms. So I will have to replace all my devices.

I was able to download NeoSoarBook reader from the App Store and download my deleted books that way.
I am really not wanting to convert to Android!

I have a Nokia E71 phone and would like to know how to view pictures in a folder one after the other (that is, without having to press the back button). it seems like the built-in app won't do that. If you backed up your iphone to icloud, then there's a chance that doing a restore might bring back your photos. I say "chance" because many users have tried that (assuming they had photos turned in for backups in settings), but ended up not getting back any photos. If that happens, then they are gone.
Remember, you should have been syncing photos all along to a computer for archiving. Don't trust the pictures to an icloud backup.

If the DVD contains a collection of image files that you can access with Finder, then just create a selection of those that you want to see and press Option-SpaceBar. That should create a full-screen slideshow.

You can share them this way:
Suppose you and the person you're trying to share with (I'll call her Jane) have two separate computers with two separate Apple IDs. Each of those two computers have a current version of iTunes.
You could copy your book from your version of iTunes over to Jane's. How you do that depends on what types of computers you have, etc.
So now your book is sitting in Jane's iTunes. But you own the book, so Jane cannot access it. What you have to do, then, is authorize Jane to access the book you bought.
You do that on Jane's computer in iTunes by going to Store > Authorize This Computer in iTunes' menu. Enter your Apple ID and password there.
Then once Jane syncs her iPad to her iTunes, she will have access to your book.
