You would have to purchase Microsoft Office for the Mac, if you want genuine Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. There are other less costly compatible and work-alike products available.
To install Microsoft Windows, you need to buy Microsoft Windows software, run BootCamp software and partition your Boot Drive, then install Microsoft Windows in its own disk partition, which is a fairly complex process. Then, while running Windows, Install whatever other Windows programs you would like to run. None of this is necessary to simply read and write Microsoft Word or Excel documents.
There are other compatibility options that you may find adequate for other Windows programs. What do you want to run in Windows?

Derek's right. To explain his second point more, you can mount your old Mac's hard drive on your new one and once you've done this you can simply drag your music folder over.
You can mount various ways, if you have a router and both are on your LAN network I believe u use the Go menu in your new Mac to mount your old one.
You can also use a cable directly between the two. I did this years agonwith ethernet but I bet USB or even FireWire is possible.
Once you get your music copied over, you may need to add your music into your Mac's iTunes.
Open iTunes and then select Add to Library and then find your music folder to add. You can add single songs or folders of songs or your entire folder of all songs.

I suspect you have a newer iMac than the pre-2006 models this forum covers (the forum labels are unbelieveably vague). If you can confirm that yours is newer than 2005, I can ask the Hosts to move you the the forum for current iMacs, which gets many more views.

I'm gifting a Mac mini and I want to know if I can upgrade the ram before it is ever started up?

I'd like to upgrade the RAM in this Mac mini I'm gifting before it give it away. I don't want to start it up and set it up under my own specs. I'd like them to enjoy that process. Can I just open it up and pop in the new RAM, or would it affect to little guy?

Have you already bought the Mini? If not have the Ram installed by Apple before you pick it up.

You weren't very specific, but I have an idea of which settings you mean. The resolution should be 1200 x 800, colors should be "Millions," and if you click the "Color" tab in display preferences, it should be set on "Color LCD."

Given the OS X versions last supported by the old PowerPC based G4/G5 computers, there are a few players that work with music sites for OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8. I have not researched these, and many of the web sites that promise a free player or access to free music offer 'adware' laden questionable products, no matter what OS X version a Mac could run.
For just music, the Radio player in the iTunes application can give you several choices of music types, to include fairly recent songs. This will use bandwidth and there likely is no native way in the computer to capture the audio; and without a legal source, a question arises concerning illegal filesharing and the like, which is not a topic friendly to these discussions.
However there some great music channels in the Radio portion of iTunes player that do not require the store to listen to them; these are streamed from servers and you may be able to locate other streaminsg sources and add them to the iTunes Radio player.
There were some shareware or limited use utilities that could record any sounds in your Mac, including beeps, clicks and keyboard sounds. And any noises from web pages, etc. And save them. But some time has passed since I had anything like that. It was like a built-in recorder, and with a Mac microphone, even more so.
However anything software involves the limitations of your computer hardware's upper limit in OS X version. And be wary of sites with several download links that say free or download, since softonic genieo and others can install adware and other hard to remove ailment prone background software in your mac along with their promised product; and their 'uninstaller' also will add hard to remove background stuff in your mac. So does mackeeper and cleanmypc kinds of stuff. Avoid installing these along with hoped-for great promises.

ITunes has randomly deleted the majority of my music (that wasn't purchased) and I don't know what the **** to do to get it back!

So my computer went all funny before it turned on. I open up iTunes, for some sort of error looking type message coming up...idk what it said, I just dismissed it. But before that came up, there was a popup with some of my songs "loading" as I opened iTunes. I dismissed that too, though I thought it was weird. Well, I am attending Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. I am an online student receiving my BFA. Afew months ago I received my Associates degree in Internet Specialist/Web Design at another college where I live. I just started at AAU so the only classes I've had so far are Illustrator and a design theory class. Well, the Illustrator class we've created many different things, from 3D characters(which is the assignment he had to cancel cause none of us had atleast 8GB of RAM), we've used live paint, messed with different brushes and symbols and vectors and all. We haven't gotten into the "Web Design" portion yet in this college. But from my other degree, I had to take C+, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, PHP, HTML, XHTML, CSS, we worked with Linux, Notepad++, and many other things. I absolutely love my Web Design career I have chosen and it's even better since I started at AAU.
As far as the books, I haven't really used my books in these classes because he puts up video tutorials and lessons for all of us to download and watch.

I keep getting the message thar Script: js/ff_browser:203 is busy or has stopped working - usually on either Gmail or Facebook - and I want to know what it does and how to stop it.

This only started happening fairly recently. It happens fairly regularly and randomly. I am usually working on another page on a different tab or webpage at the time. I have tried stopping 3rd party JavaScript, but it seems to make no difference.
I am tired of having to click "Stop Script" all the time. I also have no idea what this script does ... or is supposed to do.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

I get a JavaScript Application error message that appears multiple times on most webpages and I don't know what the problem is.

Here is the error message:

The message pops up multiple times whenever I reload certain pages.
The problem does not happen in Safari or Chrome.
I've restarted Firefox but it does not help.
