I just bought a Macbook Pro 13inch and the download speed is super slow! Why??
I bought a Macbook Pro 13inch 750gb laptop and i'm trying to download the updates it say's I need and it is taking way longer than I've ever had a computer download, why is it so slow? Is something wrong with my new laptop? My frist Macbook Pro from 2007 is faster than this crap! What's up with that?
I even have it connected through ethernet to the internet and it say's download time: 7 to 8 hours and never gets anywhere, i've been trying all day
We recently changed our internet because it was previously too slow but this one seems even worse. It's progressively slowing down more and more.
Example: When watching Netflix on my Wii and surfing the web via Computer the Nexflix will go down or have to reload. I'm going to have to call Centurylink because this is rediculous. Maybe it's the area our house is located? Or I hope nobody has cracked my internet and is using it without permission...
I'm glad to know it's not my new Mac. (Because i'd have a hissy fit if it was.)
But I still feel like my previous Macbook Pro was a tad faster, which doesn't make sense, right...?

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%) If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see? There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light. MacBook Pro with Retina display, 15", OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Photoshop CC 2014
I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt. -

Why did you mark your post as solved?
You will be better off posting in either the Lion or the iPhoto forum areas as this area is for Macbook Pro issues. You are having software issues. -

I have bought a Macbook Pro Retina, and the iPhoto which comes with it, has a different iPhoto Book menu. I cannot see how to put text at the bottom of the pages of photographs, instead of the default place in the middle. Is there a way to do this?
There are different templates for iPhoto books and they differ from version of iPhoto to iPhoto, so explore the other options.

Just got brand new macbook pro (13inch) and restored all data from old mac via time machine. Now when I p/back a track in logic I get audio drop out for 3-4 secs every 10 - 15 secs!! What is going on and what can I do? Its the same version of logic and all other functions seem fine!
First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

Just bought a Macbook pro 2011. The Fan spins up very slowly
Hi, I just bought a new MBP 2011 2.2 GHZ i7 (15'') and I'm noticing a strange behavior and I would like to ask if this is normal.
For work I end up making very stressful compilations with GCC using all the 8 logical cores at maximum.
I notice that when I start one of these intesive workloads the temperature immediatly spikes from the levels seen during normal usage (50 C) to 90+ C degrees.
The fan doesn't kick in immediatly, but rises slowly the speed level in a gentle manner. In 7-8 seconds on heavy workloads the temperature may even reach 98 degrees at which point the CPU starts throttling (I notice the frequence decrease) and I start hearing the Fan pumping up RPMs. After few seconds the fan is at maximum speed and the temperature averages around 90 C.
This happens under OSX , but I tried also under Linux and the result is the same.
What I perceive is like if the Fan , in order to make an "elegant" sound while rising up the speed it rises slowly instead of jumping up to maximum when the temperature would call for it.
Is this considered normal?
I already tried resetting both SMC and the PRAM. The behavior didn't change.I am having the same problem.

I need help taking out the grey folder with the question mark and I've try everything except the CD thing because my MacBook didn't come with one so I really need help please
What anti-virus software did you install? Although there's a lot of bad anti-virus software out there, no anti-virus software should cause such a problem. A gray screen with a flashing question mark on a folder means that no bootable system could be found, which means that the system was badly damaged or corrupt. Even installing bad software would not normally cause that, so either there was something badly wrong with the system already or the anti-virus software you tried to install was really, really bad!
As mende1 says, you need to reinstall the system at this point. After your system is back up and running, read my Mac Malware Guide. If, after reading that, you want anti-virus software, use one of the programms recommended in that guide. -
When I'm using my webcam, for instance with FaceTime it's very slow... What can it be?
The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies. -
I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%. How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?
The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%. This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month. Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it. Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly. -
I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?
On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out." Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.) Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.
Hope this helps. -

Install a boot SSD drive into new MacBook
I'm purchasing a new MBP, without retina display. Unfortunately, the high cost of the larger size SSD's priced me out of it. That being said, my new MBP will be shipping with the 1tb HDD. Is there room inside the laptop for me to install a small (64g
