When it stopped and said error, what was the error? You are saying that you disconnected the phone from the computer and all you see is the USB showing on the phone? Then you need to reconnect to the computer and restore the phone.

YOU can't fix it. But you can bring it in to Apple for an out of warranty replacement for $199.

Thank you this helped. I am not very knowledgable about all this but I was able to get the phone restored. I got everything back but my iPod. I thought I was just updating but what happened was my phone was wiped out and the lates iPhone software was installed.

Are you trying to change the iCloud ID on your phone?
Also, you can change your iTunes ID by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.

How do I upload a new movie onto my iPhone without having to sync it with iTunes?

I am new to iPhone and all this syncing is so frustrating and time wasting!
I am using iTunes on the same computer and every time I want to upload a new movie, video or anything else, iTunes keeps telling me that I am changing libraries and that it will completely wipe out everything from my iPhone. why does this happen? how many libraries are on my iTunes? I wanted to add a movie on my iPhone today on the same computer and through the same iTunes that I already synced my iPhone with and when I wanted to upload the movie onto the phone it told me that I am now using a different library and that everything on my phone will be deleted. I also tried to do it manually because I don't want to waste time by backing up the phone, erasing everything from it and then putting it back onto the phone, and iTunes told me the same thing: that I am using a different library etc etc.
the other day I wanted to put a new ringtone on my iPhone and iTunes did exactly the same thing!
how can I be using a different library on the SAME COMPUTER and on the SAME iTunes for different things that I want to put on my iphone?

if using iTunes indeed were as simple and as easy as you say it is, then there wouldn't be as many complaints about it as there are. also: calling someone ignorant just because they don't want to be bothered by the restrictions, complications and unfriendliness of iTunes is pretty lame!

If you registered CS4 then you might be able to find the serial number for it in your Adobe account online. If not, you still might be able to get someone in chat to assist you with getting it.

There were no passwords on this phone before downloaded the updated operating system. This makes no sense. Find my phone is very sporatic with this new operating system. No it didn't. You did, whether you realize it or not. Restrictions can only be enabled by user interaction. They don't just turn on by themselves.

Why do'nt you just restore the latest backup that was made prior to you applying the update? Problem solved?

It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, elect the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

I did not have any problems before the upgrade. I would greatly appreciate any light shed on this.

Go to the HP site and look for drivers for your scanner. It apparently needs an updated driver to work with Mavericks.
