Inserting variable data markers in tables on master pages

I have a two-cell table on a verso master page that is styled and set to hold my <ChapterNumber> and <ChapterTitle>. A one-cell table is set on the recto master page to hold my <A_Head>. The problem is that I can't seem to insert the variables into the table cells. They work fine when inserted into standard text frames, but I can't see the markers on the master pages, nor does the data associated with the appropriate paragraph styles show up on the regular pages, as it does when I simply insert the variables into standard text frames. I tested the default variables that are installed with InDesign CS3, and they can be inserted into the table cells on the master pages and display on the regular pages. The variables that I defined work properly in a text frame, but not in a table. Is there an explanation for this? The cells have styles associated with them, but there's plenty of room in the cells for the variables. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

This is so weird. In my original file, I did everything that you did, and even when I flipped back through the pages, the information wasn't appearing in the appropriate cells
(BTW, the chapter number actually goes next to the word "Chapter" in the green cell on the verso, and the A head actually goes in the white cell on the recto; chapter title will be in the white cell on the verso). The markers were showing up--thinly, as you pointed out--when I had originally inserted the markers, but the difference was that I did not see the results on the actual pages. Go figure. Everything looks fine now, and there were no problems with my variables.
I have avoided using the default Chapter Number variable because it doesn't reflect the chapter number based on what the chapter number is in the text provided by the client. For example, I changed the chapter number on the chapter opener just now to 12, and the variable you inserted for the chapter number did not update; it stayed at 10, because that variable is based on the Document Chapter Numbering feature, not on text. When I use a running header variable based on the CN paragraph style I define, my chapter number variables are correct, and if the text changes, the change is picked up without having to go to the Pages panel. It's just a different way of doing things.

I was wrong, because the relationship 1 to * between tables A and B, I was writing the groovy expression in each table, in this case in Table B (A.codSolicitude), but now I notice that within the DataControls, but specifically in the control data of Table A, there is a relationship between the board B, and I thought to insert into the related table that appears as a master/detail, and first inset in table A and then in Table B in the same page master/detail, and A.CodSolicitude value is automatically filled in Table B, and performed the Commit and everything works. !

You can INSERT into both tables within one Transaction but not in one statement. By the way, you would need to alter your dbo.Test1 table to allow null for first INSERT test2_id column

It is pure madness to update or modify tables like MARC or T100W directly, whether on remote systems or locally.
If you need to update or modify such tables on remote system search for the appropriate BAPI (e.g. in case of MARC use BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA).

I have one notepad with three columns, first column is segment1, second column is segment2 & third column is price list....
and there is no delimiter and exact spaces..(i.e, zizak fomat)

What manu suggested this can be done through oracle forms.
If as i read your last post you are using that in database it will not work in db. Try to use the same process in oracle forms will work by making some changes.
And if you don't want to use forms then there is one way using SQL LOADER. It required control file to execute for uploading data.

In this example its showing filename.csv you can use your file name like yourfilename.txt.
So your control file will look like this...
load data
infile 'file_path\file_name.txt'
into table table_name -- use actual table name where you want to upload data

(column1, column2, column3) -- Here use the three column names of tableAnd after creating control file with the above code. You can call it in command prompt like this

sqlldr username/password@dbconnection control=control_file_path\control_file_name.ctl log=log_file_path\log_file_name.log
Before doing this practice make sure SQLLDR.exe availabe in the machine where you have to execute. Otherwise you will have to install db client for using sqlldr.exe

Hi Kalyan,
It is not advisable to update standard tables directly or through your own module pool programs also. The reasons are,
1. It is difficult to find out how many tables are updated through the transaction. if we leave one table also as Mr.Andrew said data integrity will be lost.
2. Authorization objects and profiles will be totally bypassed if data is inserted through custom programs.
3. Complete data validation is not possible. There are certain validations that are executed through code and appropriate errors and warnings are shown in the transactions. If we insert data directly to the tables anything can be inserted into the table field violating all the validations unless we have field level check constraints on the tables at database level.
4. User Exits and BADIs that are implemented for specific business requirements and checks will not function on the data.
5. Update & Transaction locks will not work properly.
Due to above reasons, definitely you should avoid updating standard tables directly.
There are many tools such as LSMW Recordings, BDCs, BAPIs, IDOCs, Upload Interfaces available in SAP through which bulk data can be updated without using relevant transactions.
You can collect data from end users in text or excel sheets or through custom programs in required format and upload at once through above mentioned tools.

Help needed in Loading excel data to staging table from OAF Page

We have a requirement from the client on loading of a excel sheet data into staging table using OAF page.
We were able to load a CSV file into staging table via OAF. The approach we used is we created a item of style 'messageFileUpload', which would pick the CSV file from desktop and we wrote the logic on the controller to place the file into server and then sumit a concurrent program to load the data into the staging table.
But client wants data from the excel file to be loaded into staging table. Is there any way(approach) by which we can convert the excel file data into .CSV file using OAF?
Any help or pointers on this will be highly apperciated.

I think this question had already posted.But i am not able to figure out this problem..
what i am trying to do is
I have a table in the remote database with a CLOB column like this
REMOTE_TABLE

In my Local database i have to write a Procedure to gather some information on a particular record (My Requirement) and save that CLOB in the REMOTE_TABLE.
I built that procedure like this

Someone please advise what is possible problem. Db link is not set correctly? or we can not update remote table by dblink.
By the way i can do insert / update from TOAD to the remote table through DBLINK. Problem happens only in Java code.

dblink links from one database instance to another.
So it is certainly a source of possible problems when it works on one database and not another.
You should start by looking at the dblink and it possible testing it in the database not via java.
Note as well that that error suggests that it is coming from the Oracle database. I believe if you had a bind parameter problem in your java code that the error would come from the driver. But that is a guess on my part.

Trigger to insert unique data into other table (having more than 40 millions of records) - MYSQL

i am facing impact of trigger in MYSQL, scenario is this:
I am Having one table with duplicate records that is consist of (eid,tin,status and some other columns are also there but i need only these three). there is another table which is having same these three columns (eid, tin, status).
eid and tin will be same for given combination only status will be different i.e.

1245 23 5
1233 33 3
1211 24 2
1211 24 5
so as per above example i have to feed data into other table as
1245 23 0
1233 33 3
1211 24 5
priority of status is like 0 will be inserted if that is present in record otherwise it will be decrease from 5 to 1.
so i have designed trigger for this which will insert data after reading each row, but it is taking around 6.5 minutes for inserting 300000 records. so is there any other way to improve performance for this mysql program.

Insert XML data into oracle table

I want to insert xml data returned by the VB code into oracle table.
As a prequisite I have installed the XDK capabilities for Oracle by installing JServer & running
SQL scripts catxsu.sql,xmlparserv2.jar,load.sql to load the XMLSQL Utility (DBMS_XMLQuery) into the database.
I have also granted following privileges to the user.
Grant users access to XMLParser and XMLDom packages:
     grant execute on xmldom to public;
     grant execute on xmlparser to public;
     create public synonym xmldom for sys.xmldom;
     create public synonym xmlparser for sys.xmlparser;
But still i am not able to create procedure which will accept input parameter as an XML document coming from front end which in turn will insert that record into simple oracle table . I am using Oracle 8.1.7

Would you specify the database version?
Since DBMS_XMLSave requires DOM, you normally need to divide the huge XML before insertion.

You have to use SAP .NET connetor to make interface with SAP. This is better way of doing interface between .NET and SAP.
You create web service (wsdl) in .NET 2003 and try to use that in .NET 2005.
You're getting the two technologies confused ......
.Net Connector is used for RFC-type interfaces. It calls Bapi's directly. Web services are not involved for this type of interface.
WSDL files are used to generate proxies for the .Net client to call Web Services (typically web-enabled Bapi's). This type of interface uses SOAP protocol not RFC and does not use the .Net Connector. Enterprise Web Services may be discovered using the .Net Enterprise Service Explorer, which is a different component from the .Net Connector.

While you can apply a permissions password to a PDF to prevent things such as printing and changing the document, you can't apply it selectively to parts of the PDF.
