Interested in AppleTV- question

Hello all-
My finace and I love iTunes but we both have different tastes in music sometimes. That being said our Powerbook HD has 23gb of music (no tv shows/ music videos!) and it is quickly growing. I understand you can stream and we would be interesting in uploading- however (here is the question) if you upload your music to AppleTV and then delete it off the Powerbook, is the music then deleted off AppleTV as well? I would like to free up much needed space and its either AppleTV (preferred) vs Mac Mini (dont want!). Thank you for your help!

I do not agree that ATV is a fancy iPod, thats what it was before Take 2. Now it is a stand alone multi-media on-demand box. You sync media from ATV to your computer only so that you can then sync further onto your iPod.
The ATv and the computer do not have to be constantly connected to each other. It is possible to remove, say, a laptop from the wireless network the ATV is on, and the ATV will not delete anything even though it is not able to connect to the laptop.
Having said that, if you "disconnect" a computer from ATV in the "settings" menu, it will erase your media.
So, I dont recomend taking any risks. Instead, buy a large external harddisk, and move all your media from your computer on that. Point your iTunes to the new library (there are threads on this forum that tell you how to move your iTunes library onto an external hard disk) and sync with ATV. After you have done this, you can remove (simply unplug) the hard disk from your computer and put it in a cupboard. ATV will not delete any media and in any case, you still have the hard disk with your media in the cupboard. Lastly, note that I said remove the hard disk I did not say delete anything. Do NOT delete anything from your iTuhes library, ever.
I assume you have a laptop and dont want a hard disk dangling off it all the time, if you have a desktop, just keep the hard disk plugged in. In that case, I recommend buying a hard disk that is quiet.

Can I sync and/or stream to more than one AppleTV? I would be interested in having one in my basement and one in my bedroom.

I haven't seen or heard anything about synching multiple AppleTV units to a given library. Perhaps someone who's at MacWorld will be able to ask Apple's reps at the booth for more information.

An interesting song transfer question

I'v recently bought a Macbook Pro 17" a few weeks ago, and today I got an iPad 2. I purchased one album from the iTunes store using the Macbook and imported a bunch of songs into the iTunes library via CD's that I legitimately bought onto the same Macbook Pro. So far so good. But when I try to sync the CD imported music from the Macbook Pro on over to the iPad 2 via the iTunes sync'ing process, the songs don't seem to show up on the iPad 2 itself. But when I click on the iPad 2 device icon from the Macbook's iTunes view, it seems to show that all the songs are on there on the iPad 2. I go over to the iPad 2 and I can't seem to see the songs from the CD to save my life. The one album that I purchased from the iTunes store on the Macbook shows up on the iPad 2 just fine. Is there any way to see the CD imported songs on the iPad 2? Or is it that the only songs I'll ever see on the iPad 2 is whatever I bought on iTunes?

Folks - here's what I have just learned - my entire music library has itunes files in mpeg-4 format AND windows media audio files as well. In other words, all of my albums have each track twice.
So it shows up as 35 GB on my IPOD classic - but when I copy my library to the external hard drive it copies each song twice (once in itunes format and once in Windows Media Player format) - meaning I have 70 GB of space being used for 35 GB of music.
Any ideas on how to fix this mess?

Interesting SAX Parser Question

I am running a BEA Sample weblogic server and trying to parse in XML using SAX.The endElement in the sample program to parse the XML takes only one parameter like follows

its not taking the local name.. in that case what should i do .. i won;t get the local name
I tried to change it to as follows

and printing the localName.. its always empty.

My question now is why i am not getting the "localName" in startElement & endElement function when i extend my class using DefaultHandler ?
I know if the Namespace is false or not present i won't get the localName.
But my XML has namespace .. and i get the "localName" when i extend the class using ContentHandler .. at the same time when i extend my class using DefaultHandler i am not getting the "localName" .. Do i need to explicity perform the Namespace processing ??
I am confused why i am getting localName when i extend from ContentHandler & not when i extend it from DefaultHandler ?

Few questions on EB-SUS scenario?

Dear Experts,
I have few questions on EB-SUS scenario which you may help with your expertise. It will be helpful for those who are new to scenario?
1. EB (enterpise Buyer or SRM) -SUS scenario is used for requesting external staff? can it be used for non stock or free text items in extended classic? does it support direct material procurement ?
2. Does EB-SUS or SRM-sus support service item with hierarchy like MM-SUS?
3. EB-SUS scenario is basically on extended classic or standalone scenario? But, in extended classic scenario, it does support only Purchase order and PO response scenario? What badi's or customization is required to enable the confirmation and invoice for extended scenarios?

File adapter questions (beginner)

Interesting Focus II: JComboBox, 2 JLists and 1 Button

Another Interesting Keyboard Focus Question:
What we want to do?
Let's say we want to build a JComboBox whose popup contains 2 JLists and a button.
What we would probably want to do is:
comboBox.setUI(new MyComboBoxUI());
MyComboBoxUI will extend BasicComboBoxUI and
ovveride createPopup to return a BasicComboPopup subclass
which will add the other JList and JButton.
(One can argue that this is not a JComboBox anymore, but bare with me)
Does it work?
This will work great with the Mouse, but with the Keyboard we face a problem:
After our popup is displayed, The JComboBox Still Has The Focus - Any UP or DOWN Events are really proccessed by the JComboBox which simulates JList navigation...
This is happening because the popup is not keyboard-focusable (and so do all of its components)
Where' s the problem?
We want to be able to:
1. Press TAB to navigate thru the 3 components
2. Press UP and DOWN to navigate the two JLists
3. Press Space to activate the JButton
Possible solutions:
1.
Don't subclass BasicComboPopup and write a ComboPopup which uses a Focusable JWindow.
Problem: The JComboBox will lose the focus when the popup opens
2.
Simulate all the DOWN/UP/TAB/SPACE events to the popup
Problem: The components are not focusable, hence there is no indication
of who is the current focused component
(Might be solved by surrounding the 'focused' component with a border)
Your thoughts?

Sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. However one line did catch my eye.

Getting AppleTV to wake up sleeping Mac Mini

I was planning on transfering my iTunes library from a G5 running Leopard to a 2.0GHz MacMini Core2Duo with Snow Leopard. The main reason for this was the feature that allows other machines to wake up sleeping computers running snow leopard.. cannot get this to work though.. argh!
In energy saver i have checked:
Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible
*Wake for network access*
Allow power button to put the computer to sleep
has anyone else got this to work? is there something somewhere else i need to set to get this to work on router (airport extreme N)? i can't even see the Mini on the network when it goes to sleep so something must not be working right.

yeah, i put it here because it's not really an appleTV question.. it's really an OS X networking question.. this is a feature of Snow leopard to wake up other clients on the network of which appleTV is only one sort of client you might want to do this from..
as i alluded to.. i'd also like to be able to have my Mac Mini wake up and be visible on the network when i want to access it from other computers on the network (i use it headless primarily.. share screen from G5).. but the Mini is not visible when sleeping (means i have to go trudge upstairs to wake it). there is not even any setting for this on an appleTV, it's all in OS X and also, i'm guessing from the response i got (Thanks JGG!), requires certain networking hardware.. so again this is not really an appleTV question and why i think it actually more appropriately belong here and not the appleTV forum.. i just though i'd put it there as well to hedge my bets on getting a response..

Captivate 4 Questions coming up blank.

I'm having some major problems with quiz answers not showing up.
Just the Letters from the choices show on the slides (About 7 Questions slides mixed in the first 43 Slides, there are a total of about 85 slides)
Muliple choice and single choice graded
Questions slides after 43 all work correctly
Check Boxes show
Check boxes are unrelated to the the correct answers because when I mark the correct boxes I get the Incorrect answer texts.
Captivate is running on Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP2.
Captivate with latest update (build 1658)
Published on two different XP Pro 32 bit machines with same result
Publishing as AS3 script.
I've resized the project at least once.
I original had the project in it's infancy as a AS2 file in captivate 3 but quickly changed it to AS3 and captivate 4 with the preferences check boxes.
I tried creating a new blank project and copied all slides into it, but the the slides at front still had problem.
Edited on a third machine Vista 64 bit Captivate 4 Build 1658, added a question before slide 43, moved a question slide that was before slide 43 to end and published. Saved CP file. All questions work now.
Opened saved CP in XP Pro machines again and published. Slides before 43 all broken again. Interesting enough the question slide I moved to end still works.
Both XP Pro machines have had Captivate 3 installed. On one, the Main editing machine Captivate 3 is still installed along with Captivate 4 on the other Captivate 3 was uninstalled and Captivate 4 added .
I can not install SP3 of XP Pro.
Captivate 4 is running as Administrator on the Vista 64 bit machine
At one point I had edited the file on Captivate 4 Vista 64 bit and then brought back to the XP Pro Machine for final edits.
How do I get this working in XP Pro 32 bit? Am I missing something between the two versions? I think I could move all question slide to end and navigate back and forth but this is fragile at best. I wouldn't want to be trusting that this will work three weeks from now.

I've ironed out a lot of the bugs in the questions
now. Had to move all the questions to the end of Captivate project and set all questions to only 1 try.
I use advanced actions to jump to and away from the questions slides. Basically if I've been to the questions slides don't jump there, jump to the next slide. This action is run on the slide before the question, for example on slide 12 I must jump to slide 64 if I've not been to the question slide yet, other wise I jump to slide 13,. On the slide after the question set (A blank slide with a continue button, I use the same advanced action which will jump to slide 13 as I've just finished the questions).
The questions being moved to the end of the project was done to get around the initial problem with Questions coming up blank earlier in the project (About 1/3rd the way in, question slides would appear blank but when placed at the end of the project they would show up correctly and again only after I had moved to a Vista 64bit machine, not sure if the 64 bit operating system was a red herring but at the point of the move things that where not running started to run, including advanced actions).
Each of my questions had 2 tries on them with two captions (The first caption to say that the response was wrong, try again and the second one to say incorrect the correct answers are.) After a certain point in the slides (even when moved to the end) two incorrect answers would stop the slide from advancing, to advance had to use the progress bar or multiple clicks on the Play button, clicking "anywhere" just wouldn't advance. I moved back to just a single try and the advancement problem disappeared. Hardly a real solution as I want the student to actually think about a incorrect answer as opposed to get the right answer no matter what they do. I didn't want to enable review as an alternative because I was having so many problems with slide movement as it was never mind adding review to the formula.
I also had to simplify several complex animations that used the timeline. In a nut shell, one Continue or Next Slide button per slide. Working with multiple buttons at different timeline markers was unreliable. I found that occasionally you would have to click a second time on transparent buttons to advance the timeline. When this clicking problem happened I would find that some slides later, a transparent button programmed for next slide or Jump to Slide would instead jump back to the slide in which I had to click twice. As soon as you adjusted the timeline (which was more an act of praying too ones god) so that you only had to press it once, both the the jumping back to the slide in question and the single click would work for a bit (Once it was working don't go there till it breaks again)
Nihaar, I'll resubmit my working project to you so you can see the problems that still reside in the show. I'd love to not have to stand on one leg while juggling three balls and one machete. It would be nice to just have to stand on one leg, the machete and three balls just come unnaturally to me and I'm always afraid that I'll be left standing holding just one ball.
Advanced actions:
The following Advanced Action is for the final lesson final info slide, It jumps to the final question set (L7 Review 1) or to the next slide (Congratulations slide) if the questions have been seen. The script also shows the play bar (First question slide of a set turns the play bar off). Note that Q7Complete is a user Variable. When you declare the variable set it's value to 1 (In some computer languages 0 can be problematic, so I, as a habit use 1).
This Advanced Action is run on a button in the last info slide where you want to jump to the question or not and on a blank "On Slide Enter" that you have added after the last question of the set. The "On Slide Exit" of the blank slide should be set at "No Action". If you forget to set the "No Action" the "On Slide Enter" advanced action will not navigate away from the blank slide properly.
On each question set the first question slide, set the "On Slide Enter" to set the cpCmndShowPlaybar = 0 to hide the play bar during the question slides.
Please note that you should order the questions sets first to last when using this method. Do not mix up the order as I found that making questions mandatory (not a bug but a good feature) causes a problem in the navigation in and out of the question slides. Also ensure the person does not visit the questions a second time as this causes the questions already answered to reset. Each set of questions has it's own User Variable and Advanced Action.

Hello, I'm interested by your question JSL because I meet quite the same problem with my HP HDX 16 1050 EF with Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit.
With the first audio drivers that came with the computer, I couldn't disable SRS settings because Windows sounds were totally distorded...
And when I left default parameters, many musics were saturate because of the SRS...
I've updated IDT Audio to v1.0.6225.0 (july 2009) via Windows Update. There are no more SRS but Dolby Natural Bass. Now I can disable it without any sound problem but each time I plug headphones or restart computer the dolby natural bass option light on...
How can I disable it definitely ?

Captivate 7 - Some Users Not Getting 100% of Answers Correct with Question Remediation

We are using Captivate 7 content to deliver courses via Adobe Connect 9.1. We are experiencing an interesting issue with question remediation. When a user takes the quiz question and gets the answer wrong, the user is taken back to spot in the course where he/she can review the information. Once the user is done reviewing the information, he/she is taken back to the question to answer it correctly. The learner has infinite attempts to get the answer correct. In theory, the user should always get 100% for the final test score. We are noticing that some users (10%) actually don’t get 100% of the answers correct according to Adobe Connect transcript reports.
Is there something we can look at to see what might be causing the incorrect score? Is there a known issue?
We publish Captivate 7 content as SWF/HTML 5 on Adobe Connect 9.1.

Unfortunately, the discussion here led me to the resolution, but is not terribly valuable from a Captivate standpoint. It turns out that we have a custom database script running on the Adobe Connect back end to correct people who have been left in an "In Progress" state even though they have a passing score and appear to have completed the course. To avoid the script changing these records to pass, we bumped the passing score to 100%.

FINT run creating 2 interest invoices

Hello All,
Until sept 2013 FINT run use to create just one interest invoice per month but from Nov 2013 till Aug 2014 it started creating 2 separate interest invoices with same document type. Again from Sept 2014 onwards it creates just one interest invoice per month but that invoice does not include all interest receivable and includes only rental interest.
The questions are -
1) Why system started creating 2 invoices from Oct 2013? Does anyone know configuration change that could have affected?
2) Should FINT run normally create one interest invoice for all open items?

CAP file safety questions?

I am interested in 3 question:
1. Is there any possibility to get the CAP file from a card.
2. Is CAP file backward convertible to .class or .java files? I.e. is it safe enough for distribution, to avoid the retrieval of the source code?
3. What files should be distributed for extended APIs: EXP, CAP file and stub class files? Am i right?
I appreciate any answers and advices regarding the safety of the CAP files.

1. Is there any possibility to get the CAP file from a card.Yes. Use google, search on "Javacard attacks" or "javacard hacks". You will find many papers and presentations on what has been done, what works, what does not.
My conclusions: Its possible. Its hard to do. Various people are working on it, so perhaps its getting easier. Vendors are making cards more resistant to attack, so perhaps its getting harder.
2. Is CAP file backward convertible to .class or .java files? No, not backward compatible, or at least not easily. Some information is lost. I have not found any open source or commercial tools for this.

The EXP file contains all of the class, method and field names for the public methods/fields that the converter tool needs (there are no String names in the CAP file).
