Iphone calendar sync to exchange is one-way, mail & contacts working

i had a problem where i was getting nothing from the exchange server ( SBS2003 ) in my calendar... but if i added something to my iphone 3g, it would show up in outlook. my iphone 2.2.1, ipod touch 2.2.1, and dev iphone using 3.0b5 all were the same.
Mail and Contacts worked fine, but not the calendars... i could create a new calendar in outlook and the phone would show that i had another calendar, but no actual items were being sync'd.
When i tried to create a new exchange account to test, I was unable to sync, and would get the error: The error is "Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: [] User: [] HTTP status code: [409]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly." in the Event Log
I hate when I spend days looking online for solutions and never find out what works because people don't post their successes, so I thought I should post this, because it seemed to fix my problem.
BUT - i should say that when it came down to the registry modification, the entry was already there, and set to /exchange-oma, but i changed it to my newly created virtual directory, and poof, my problem was solved. I found what you see below here: http://sbs.seandaniel.com/2006/02/sync-errors-from-mobile-devices-in.html
...hope this helps someone... not sure what caused it other than my continually formatting and re-syncing my dev phone.
1. Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Locate the Exchange virtual directory. The default location is the following: Web Sites\Default Web Site\Exchange
3. Right-click the Exchange virtual directory, click All Tasks, and then click Save Configuration to a File.
4. In the File name box, type a name. For example, type ExchangeVDir. Click OK.
5. Right-click the root of this Web site. Typically, this is Default Web Site.
6. Click New, and then click Virtual Directory (from file).
7. In the Import Configuration dialog box, click Browse, locate the file that you
8. Created in step 4, click Open, and then click Read File.
9. Under Select a configuration to import , click Exchange, and then click OK.
10. A dialog box will appear that states that the "virtual directory already exists."
11. In the Alias box, type a name for the new virtual directory that you want Exchange ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access to use. For example, type ExchDAV.
[N.B. In my case I already had an ExchDAV, so I created it as ExchDAV2]
12. Click OK.
13. Right-click the new virtual directory. In this example, click ExchDAV. Click Properties. Click the Directory Security tab. Under Authentication and access control, click Edit. Make sure that only the following authentication methods are enabled, and then click OK:
a. Integrated Windows authentication
b. Basic authentication
14. Under IP address and domain name restrictions, click Edit. Click Denied access, click Add, click Single computer, type the IP address of the server that you are configuring, and then click OK.
15. Under Secure communications, click Edit. Make sure that Require secure channel (SSL) is not enabled, and then click OK.
16. Click OK, and then close the IIS Manager.
17. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
18. Locate the following registry subkey: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MasSync\Parameters
19. Right-click Parameters, click to New, and then click String Value.
20. Type ExchangeVDir, and then press ENTER. Right-click ExchangeVDir, and then click Modify.
NoteExchangeVDir is case-sensitive. If you do not type ExchangeVDir exactly as it appears in this article, ActiveSync does not find the key when it locates the ExchDAV folder.
21. In the Value data box, type the name of the new virtual directory that you created preceded by a forward slash (/). For example, type /ExchDAV.
[OR in may case, it was already set to /ExchDAV so mine needed to be renamed to /ExchDAV2]
22. Click OK.
23. Quit Registry Editor.
24. Restart the IIS Admin service. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
b. In the list of services, right-click IIS Admin service, and then click Restart

This isn't an issue.
If you pay attention to the former steps, you'll notice that only the virtual folder being created has SSL disabled and in the meantime, communications are allowed only from the server himself.
So the IT can be confident in following those steps.
+Unfortunately, so far, those instructions didn't help me.+
In fact it finally worked.
I just needed to delete and recreate the relationship between the device and the Exchange server.

  • How to remove calendar syncing with more than one calendar?

I have no idea how I did it, but my Blackberry Curve 8310 somehow synced with TWO calendars.  I always had it syncing with my Outlook one and that still works fine, but somehow it also synced to my Hotmail calendar somewhere along the way - but I haven't used that calendar in a very long time and don't even use my Hotmail account anymore, so it's just confusing everything.  I never meant to tell it to sync to that one and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to remove all that calendar info that it added!  Can someone help with instructions?  I'm fairly technically savvy, I just can't figure out how to do it on my own.

Do you want to remove the hotmail account all together? If so you can delete it from either your carrier's BIS page, or from the personal email setup icon on your device.
If you just want to remove the calendar try going to Options | Advanced Options | Service Book. Find your Hotmail account's CICAL service book and delete it

  • Calendar schedule blank. All appts disappeared from 3g iphone calendar synced to yahoo. After Yahoo corrected error message on their website and I re-synced my iphone, calendar reappears but will not allow edit from iphone. I can't find settings to change

Calendar schedule blank. All appts disappeared from 3g iphone calendar synced to yahoo. After Yahoo corrected error message on their website and I re-synced my iphone, calendar reappears but will not allow edit from iphone. I can't find settings within Yahoo or within my iphone to alter editing options.
How can I get access to edit and delete the Yahoo calendar from my iphone? I never schedule anything from the Yahoo webpage. All my appointments and reminders are scheduled from the iphone.
    iOS 4.2.1 (8C148a)

My Yahoo email account worked just fine on my iPhone 4S  for the last 2 months. Then this morning I started receiving the apple.imap.mail,yahoo error.  I tried all of the steps above in solving the yahoo email issue including numerous hard re-sets and deletions of my yahoo account settings without any success. So I gave up trying to use the default Yahoo setup option.  I added my Yahoo account back as an "other" type email account and then had the option to choose to set it up as a "POP" account instead of an IMAP type. I then just used the server settings recommended from Yahoo Help for a Yahoo Plus Email POP (or just google yahoo plus email pop settings). This works and I am back in business.
I'm not sure if this will work for yahoo mail classic accounts.
Frustrating that this issue seems to have been going on for quite awhile and Apple still as not made any acknowledgement of this issue or proposed a fix for those of us that can not resolve the issue with a reset.

  • Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email?

Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email? I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue with the Iphone 5s...

imessage has a new setting that shows all emails associated with your apple id.  There are two sections, send and receive.  Since you are using the same apple id, Im sure if you adjust one of those settings to your mobile number instead of your appleid, it wont send double.
You might also have to adjust your wifes settings too, so those emails dont overlap

  • Outlook/ IPhone calendar syncing issue - adding one hr to EST.

Is there a fix for syncing Outlook 2003 calendar and the IPhone 4s? It continues to add 1 hour to the phone calendar - I have synced it both ways with the Time Zone Support on and off still no change...this is getting frustrating...any help?

I am having this problem also. It happens with re-occuring events. The Outlook calendar is correct but the iPhone calendar is changing the events by one hour. I have tried the fixes suggested elswehere regarding changing / setting the timezones but as the OP stated this is not fixing the problem.
    Apple please address this.

  • Exchange 2010 and iphone calendar sync issues

    Hey,
I know this question has been asked plenty of times before and just need a straight resolution. We have just migrated our environment to Exchange 2010 and the major issue is that when an event is created in Outlook 2011 it is not always showing up on their iphone and also vis versa. Is their a resolution to this problem so I can implement it in an emergency change. Thank you for all your help!

Here let me explain the scenario again any user who logs in to exchange from outlook working fine password not expired and he has iphone active sync working no issues , now while all devices are working when he starts his ipad after a week or so when he
opens his email on ipad it prompts the password on ipad and same time on iPhone , he does not want to enter the password and wants a technical justification , I told the user something to do with Exchange 2010 sp2 and ios 7 ,but that is invalid justification
. if you have any other valid justification please let me know. or a solution to this issue. user wants to login without any password prompt while the password is saved in device and not expired , is there any feature in Exchange 2010 sp2 that would recognize
how many days device has not logged it and would force to enter the password.

  • Issue with iPhone Calendar sync

My office uses MS Exchange account (Outlook) for emails & calendar. I use Google Calendar Sync app to sync my outlook calendar events to my personal gmail calendar (1-way sync: Outlook to Google). Everything was fine until I bought the iPhone 4S. Apparently, when I open any event on the iPhone Calendar app, it automatically Accepts the invitation and sends a Accept notification to the meeting organizer & my personal gmail address is being added into the Attendees list of the organizer. So when I open any appointment on my iPhone to even read it, it sends a notification from my personal account to an office colleague or worse, to a business customer. Is there a way for iPhone to stop accepting or declining meetings & simply show my calendar items whatever status they are in. As I sync regularly, I want my iPhone calendar to display the exact information which is in my Outlook calendar and do nothing else.

This sounds just like the problem I am having since downloading the latest version of i-Tunes. Initially i-tunes wasn't recognised so after reinstalling i-Tunes and it's 5 other associated programmes I found that there was a cmpatability isuue (Right click i-tunes icon and go to compatability tag) Once this was sorted my Outlook calendar would not sync with my i-phone. 2 weeks later I am told it is because I have Outlook 2002 and need to upgrade. Frustrating as it worked ok before the latest upgrade.

  • Calendar sync with Exchange server is unidirectional

Hello I can synchronize my BB 8900 with the Exchange calendar in bidirectional mode using the USB cable. When I switch it to wireless mode in my calendar options at the BB device, the synchronisation works only from the computer to the BB but not the other way round. I have checked I have just one calendar (desktop), and checked that calendar sync is set in bidirectional mode in the desktop manager (I did it and checked it was working well with the USB before switching again to wireless).  I have BB 8900 v4.6.1.310 (Platform 4.2.0.127) and have tried with different desktop manager versions, with same result (4.7 and 5.01). My corporate helpdesk is working on it for several days but no clue of the problem . Any suggestion?

I have the exact problem. Upgraded iPad 2 and iPod touch 4th gen to iOS 6 at same time. IPad reconnected to exchange server w/o major problems. iPod lost contacts, calendar, and exchange e-mail. Spent 5 hours on phone over past two nights with apple support w/o any resolution. Support was very nice and supportive, but in the end did nothing to help. He kept blaming my company's exchange server settings claiming that I did not have all the information set correctly. We copied the settings EXACTLY  from IPAD to iPod without success. I was then able to set up my exchange account on wife's iPod touch w/o any problems. My calendar, contacts, email all synched onto her iPod fine . He had little to say about my Icompany's IT settings, and finally admitted he had no idea how to help. It is not you, it is IOS 6. Thanks Apple for a shiny paperweight that no longer can provide me with calendar, e-mail, or contacts . I wish my only complaint with iOS 6 was the map!
This is like ownging a Ford for two years, and then, aftrer changing the oil, the car starts, but the wheels no longer will turn.

  • IPhone calendar sync issues with Outlook

I have a problem with syncing my iPhone calendar with my Outlook 2003 calendar.
For example, let's say I had a 12pm appointment today displaying both in my outlook and iPhone. However, when I sync my iPhone after the event e.g. at 3pm, the appointment entry in the Outlook is removed, whilst the appointment entry on my phone remains. I did not edit either of the appointment entries. Even if I re-sync my phone, the 12pm appointment still remains in my phone whilst it's missing in my Outlook.
Are there others encountering the same problem as well? Any ways to fix this problem? Thanks

I've talked to them. Very helpful, but no solution. The iPhone Specialist I spoke to had not heard of the problem before. At one point he put me on hold and came back to say that he had checked with some people and they had heard of this "emerging" problem but had no answers. He admitted that all problems are "emerging" problems, given that the product has been out for only 2 weeks. We tried a variety of things with no success. I had to tell him about the manual workaround - going into each appointment, setting it to recur, etc. This does make it reappear, but isn't practical for those of us with tons of appointments. I'm not shocked that they don't want to acknowledge this, given that calendar synching is so important to their targeted business customer base. It's hard to believe that they could have screwed up something that every other manufacturer seems to be able to do well and that is at the same time so critical to business users.

  • Problems with iPhone calendar sync and Gmail calendar.

Ive been trying to sync my iPhone calendar with the Gmail calendar on my iPhone but i cannot get this to work. neither way. ive been searching the web for hours now, been to many google websites which are suppose to help with this but it wont work.

Edit: the iPhone calendar works perfect with my MobileMe account, but I want it on Gmail as well ( if not both is possible I would prefer Gmail )

I tryed to add my gmail account to the microsoft exchange as it says in on of the links above, but the only thing that happend was that i got all of the email contact on gmail addon on my iPhone, which was really annoying since i cant call an email adress.
Anothing thing I would like to add is that i also would like to sync my contacts to Gmail.
I am fully aware that I have MobileMe, but I would like to have it synced to Gmail because thats what I use each day and I have 2-step-authentication.

  • Outlook 2003 + iPhone calendar sync problem solved

Here is how I solved my sync problem. Seems a lot of people have the same problem here with Outlook sync suddenly not working after it worked fine for a long time.
I've had Outlook 2003 calendar sync with my iPhone for a few month without any problem, but a few days ago the sync suddenly stopped without any error message. iTunes Diagnostic found no problem and I followed all the steps that Apple outlines to fix the problem but nothing worked (TS2776).
As Apple asked to, I created a new user account on my Windows machine and setup a few test calendar entries to sync with my iPhone. That all worked fine.
So I did what Apple doesn't tell you, and I copied my original Outlook Data file (.PST) over to my new user account and tried to sync that one. Now this didn't work. So I knew the problem lies somewhere in my PST file.
I have then tried to create a new one from scratch in my original Windows account, and copy all the data over. Again, it didn't work. So I emptied the file again, and copied all my calendar entries over to the new PST file in batches (first 10, then another 10, etc).
What I found at the end is that one single calendar entry I created a few days ago caused my sync to stop working. Once I removed this entry, everything worked fine again. Don't ask me what was wrong with it (I made a backup just in case Apple wants to see it), but now everything works again.
If you want to save some time to find which one it is, you may start deleting entries that you created just recently before it stopped working.
    Hope that helps.

Hi im having the same problem. I use outlook 2003 on windows xp and until recently my sync (using usb) was working fine. Now it would seem that calendar items are no longer syncing. can you give any further details of the calendar entry which was causing your problem? im wondering if it was added on a certain date perhaps.
I am running the inbox repair tool to see if my pst file has any problems but would appreciate any other help in the mean time.
    Cheers

  • Hidden Contact Subfolders are visible on iPhone after sync with Exchange Server 2007

    Hello,
We have encountered an issue where synchronizing the iPhone with Contacts from an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox, causes hidden contact subfolders (from Outlook) to be visible and appear in the Groups list in the Contacts App on the iPhone.  This does not occur with Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes.
We have a 3rd party application that creates hidden subfolders in the default Contacts folder on Exchange Server 2007 mailboxes.  The hidden folders do not display in the Outlook client, Blackberry or on an Android phone.  We did see that they were showing up in Outlook Web Access until we applied this Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 Rollup 2 patch unto the Exchange server:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2210042 - A sub contact folder is still visible after you set the "PR_ATTR_HIDDEN" attribute to "True" in an Exchange Server 2007 environment.
After the patch was applied, the hidden contacts do not show up anywhere else.  However, when we synced the mailbox to an iPhone and synced existing contacts, all of the hidden folders appear in the Contact Groups list.  Is there a way to hide the hidden sub contact folders on the iPhone and prevent them from appearing in the Contact Group lists?
Any help provided would be most appreciated.
    Thanks and Best Regards

    Hi SBuchan,
I have an open case with Microsoft about it.  It is an issue with ActiveSync in Exchange 2007 that sends the hidden objects.  Microsoft tried to resolve this in Exchange 2010 by sending a delete message after sending the hidden objects to remove them from the device.  Am awaiting to see if they will approve a design change to Exchange 2007 ActiveSync to prevent the synching of hidden objects.

  • IPhone calendar sync two hours off from iCal - Can I fix?

I purchased an iPhone 3G today, this is my second one. Since my last phone, I now have a new MacBook Pro with iCal.
When I performed the Sync today, everything was fine except for the times in Calendar, which were two hours later on iPhone. The time zones were the problem, as the iPhone was set to Cupertino (Pacific) and the computer was set to Memphis (correct zone).
Now, I have corrected the time zones on both and I have performed a new Sync and checked the box to replace information from the calendars on the iPhone with the information from iCal.
However, the times are still off.
    1. Can I fix this issue?
    2. Can I delete the iPhone calendar entries as a whole and start over and re-Sync?
Thanks for the help. It's a minor issue, but it's pretty annoying and I have tried everything I know to fix it.

How bizarre. Mine is doing this too, except it's 3 hours off. I showed up to work 3 hours early because of this. Time zones are the same on my computer and my phone. I'm not sure what the deal is.
