Is it possible to do this with Flash...

I have this little problem with my blog on MySpace and I'm curious to find out if I can solve it by creating
a Flash header/game for my blog that will solve it.
I experience routine cycles where on certain days I will get tons of hits, usually this is just before the night I go out to the club to have fun.  People never, ever comment on my blogs, nor do they subscribe, so I have no way to know who is viewing (spying on) me so regularly and diligently.  This is far beyond annoying.  I've also, in the past, encountered real life problems due to people slandering me from taking things I say way out of context, or simply because they are drama queens who get off on screwing with peoples' lives.
Now what I want to do is basically take the pyramid with the all-seeing eye from the back of the U.S. one dollar bill, turn it into a big, colorful and interactive work of art with the eye looking around, blinking, staring at the user, emanating, IDK, rage or focus idealized while a marquee then scrolls along the bottom of it telling people that I'm watching those who watch me, or something like that, while in the background recording their friendIDs with a date and time stamp which will then get compiled and forwarded to me on say a weekly basis.
This will give me peace of mind in knowing who's just browsing, who's friendly and who's doing this to try and hurt me, things I can figure out on my own by checking their profiles and determining whether I am familiar with them or not, and on what terms.
What do you think, is something like this possible with Flash or would it take Java?

you can do that with flash.
you can do a little more and display the user's ip address in your flash header.  and it's possible (with server-side scripting) to display the geographic location of the user based on their ip address.

    My client with autism needs to be able to speak/sing into a microphone and simultaneously hear his voice through a headset, preferably with reverb set on high.  Is it possible to do this with the iPad and OS7?  If so, what setup do I need?  I have a SM58 type mic and-over-the ear headphones.

    This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
    ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
    Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
    If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

  • Can I do this with Flash? (A TV Director interface)

    I have an idea for a video based website but am not sure if it can be done with Flash so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has ever seen it already or thinks it is possible with Flash.
    Basically here's what I need. Let's say I film a sporting event with three cameras: cam 1 on a wide shot showing everything and cams 2 and 3 getting close-ups of the action. I'd like to playback all three video clips on one web page at the same time, with one of the cameras in a large box on the page and the other two cams in smaller boxes to the side or under the main box. The user would have the ability to instantly switch camera views in the large box by clicking on one of the smaller boxes. So if cam 1 is in the large box and cams 2 and 3 are also playing on the same page in smaller boxes, the user might see a close up on cam 2, click on it and then cam 2 will swap places with cam 1 and is now in the large box. (I hope all this makes sense!)
    This idea is in effect giving the user the ability to be a "TV director" and select which camera angle they'd like to see in the large box, and changing camera views anytime they see something in a smaller box that looks interesting.
    Just to clarify, all of the camera shots would be prerecorded and encoded as Flash video. So the challenge here is to sync all three video clips together and then create an interface/skin that plays them at the same time and allows instant switching between them on a web page.
    What do you think... is this possible with Flash? has anyone seen something similar already done? How would it be accomplished?

    The easiest method for you would be to use the following
    components:
    TextInput - this is an input text field
    Button - would be the submit button
    To put it together:
    Make a new Actionscript 2 flash file. AS2 is much easier to
    work with for a beginner, and is fairly easy for this purpose.
    Drag your instance of the TextInput and Button to the stage,
    and position them. Add some text for instructions.
    Select the TextInput, go to the properties panel and give it
    an instance name (the field under the drop-down) - something like
    "myInput"
    Do the same with the Button ("myBtn")
    click on the first frame in the timeline, and go to the
    Actions panel. You will know you are entering actions properly if
    the panel says "Actions - Frame" in the tab. Enter the following
    scripts:
    myBtn.onRelease = function(){
    //this is where you perform whatever actions you need.
    trace(myInput.text);
    Next, Control::Test Movie, enter some text in the input box,
    and click the button. The text you entered into the input box will
    trace out into the Output tab of Flash.
    I do not know the script you need to get the text from the
    flash out to the Presenter, but this will get you started.

  • Has anyone seen this with Flash Forms /  CF8?

    I have a website that uses a few flash forms on different
    pages. It's on a CF8 server and the clients are generally IE6.
    Sometimes all works well, sometimes the flash form on a page
    doesn't show up.
    Refreshing the browser, closing/re-opening the browser don't
    work. Restarting CF doesn't work.
    I put the same code on another CF8 server and access with IE7
    and it works fine.
    Why the heck would a form show or not show intermittently
    when nothing has changed in the site code or server settings?
    Thanks in advance.

    I am seeing this on a CF7 installation. What I noticed is
    that it started on 10/31, which is the very date that Microsoft
    patches were rolled out to all of our users. The updates in
    question were the following:
    KB921503
    KB936021
    KB938127
    KB938829
    I have NOT verified that there is a relationship, but the
    patches were applied IMMEDIATELY before the problems started, right
    in the middle of the day. It is far too coincidental to assume
    there is not a relationship. This is affecting my flash forms, and
    also some of my javascript combo boxes.
    I will update when I discover more, and if others would do
    the same I would appreciate reading about it.

  • Is it possible to do this with subtemplates ?

    Please give your valuable suggestion... Thanks in advance !
    We have a requirement in EBS, where there are 4 different Invoice Layouts (RTF Templates) for 4 operating units. We created 4 different templates and attached to the data definition (which is linked to one concurrent program). It works great.
    During runtime, user needs to pick the correct layout and get the correct results.
    BUT, we want to build a logic that a specific layout is defaulted (depending on Operating unit or say, some other XML data element). In other words, Just use/launch a specific template automatically without user choosing from the list of templates.
    So that user doesn't choose wrong template and we can restrict templates based on operating unit.
    There is no easy way I could find to accomplish this.
    I want to use the subtemplate logic, but that doesn't seem to work for this.
    In subtemplates I can only define part of the template logic like header/footer or body part.
    When I put the tags of <?template:Template_Name?> at the very beginning of the layout ,the first character of Header and <?end template?> at the very end of the report, it seems to totally ignore the Header portion.
    Actually, I want to launch a complete RTF template with headers/body/footers by itself.
    The calling (dummy) Template RTF has no formatting at all... Just calls to other templates..
    I want to use one dummy template just to call four other complete templates based on some XML data element (like operating unit).
    Can any guru tell me, if this is possible at all ??

    You can use the same logic we use in Bursting to automatically apply a different template based on some Operating Unit element in the XML message.

  • I am trying to create interactive floor plans for my website Is it possible to do this in Flash CS4?

    Is it possible to create interactive floor plans in flash CS4? Are there any tutorials out there to do this?

    I don't see why not. Just create the elements you want to move around as MovieClips or swf's, add event listeners to these items listening for MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, drag and MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, drop.   writh the drag and drop functions  and you're set.
    function drag(e:MouseEvent):void {
         itemx.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, drag);
         e.eurrentTarget.startDrag();
    function drop(e:MouseEvent):void {
         itemx.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, drop);
          e.eurrentTarget.stopDrag();

  • Can I do this with Flash

    I have Adobe Presenter 7 that came with Acrobat 9 Pro
    Extended. I have exported a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation to
    Presenter with a quiz in the PPT. That works just like I need it to
    work. The problem is having access to SCORM software. My work
    around was to have the quiz results page to display the current
    date. That works. Then while in PPT I created a macro and an Action
    button that would allow the user to put their name on the result
    page. When the PPT was published to presenter the Action button
    doesn't work. So my question is this. If I bought Flash would I be
    able to work with the Presenter published program and create a way
    to get the user's name on the quiz result page? I would also like
    to be able to have a button that would, when click, only print out
    the result page with the results, current date, and the user name?
    Thank you.

  • Possible to do this with an Interface?

    ok i have this method in a class called PlayerGUI
    public void play()
              try
                   song.play();
              catch(Exception e)
                            e.getMessage();
         }and this is everything in a class called PlayControl
    public class PlayControl implements ActionListener
         private PlayerGUI gui;
         public PlayControl(PlayerGUI p)
              gui = p;
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
              gui.play();
    }so these two classes "communicate" with each other that way.
    now if I make an interface called PlayerGUIListener and put this method (first one above) in it instead of PlayerGUI
    public void stop()
              try
                   song.play();
              catch(Exception e)
                            e.getMessage();
         }and then have PlayerGUI implement it i get these errors
    java:26: interface methods cannot have body
    ^
    Aava:46: interface methods cannot have body
    ^
    java:66: interface methods cannot have body
    ^
    java:75: interface methods cannot have body
    ^
    4 errors
    now the GUIListener has to have some reference to PlayerGUI in order for the method to work......so can anyone point me in the right direction? im basically trying to take the play method out of PlayerGUI and put it in another class file

    When you create the code for the PlayerGUIListener Interface, you do not put in anything except the method declarations. Then you create a class that implements the interface and has code inside the methods. Just like the way PlayControl implement the ActionListener interfacepublic interface PlayerGUIListener {
       public abstract void play();
    public SomeClass implements PlayerGUIListener {
       //bunch of stuff
       public void play() {
          try {
         song.play();
              } catch(Exception e) {
                          e.getMessage();
    }

  • Possible to do this with Library?

    Hi all,
    I encoded my cds into itunes as 192 bit rate....but as expected I am only getting about 700 songs on my 4 gb nano. So I am wondering if I can have two libraries (or how should I do it)....one leave at the higher bit rate and the other knock down to 128. Maybe I am not thinking about this right but my reasoning behind wanting to do this is that I am worried if I knock the bit rate down and find I notice the quality difference, then upsizing back to 192 would not work and I would have to re imort all my cd's which would be a pain.
    Any thoughts?
    Tammy

    Tammy,
    Transcoding your 192kbps files to 128kbps will degrade the audio more than if you had ripped them into 128kbps originally. See: Buegie, "Oh so tinny" #5, 11:53am Nov 7, 2005 CDT
    I have a 4GB mini and fit ~500 songs on it using AAC/256/VBR encoding. That's still 34+ hours of music with one load. As I have over 300 hours of music, I am not carrying my total collection around with me any way. Why even bother reducing the size of your current files?
    If you want to manage a 'Dual Library', try starting at this Thread:

  • Is there a better way to do this with Flash?

    I am new to Flash but am slowly teaching myself via Lynda.com etc
    I have an image that I have added to a website via a content management system and want to make certain areas of that image into links to other sites.
    I found this page that does the kind of thing I want to do, but it appears from looking at the source code that the person who has done this has cut the image up into several sections in order to fit it into a table: http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/staffdevelopment/postdocs1/guidance
    Is there a better way to achieve the same kind of effect using Flash by making ares of an image into links and keeping the image as a whole?

    There are ways to keep the image whole and have portions of it linking to different places both in HTML and in Flash.  In HTML you can use an image map.  In Flash, you can just lay invisible buttons atop the image and use those to link.

  • Is it possible to achieve this with Pacman?

    I have seen different positives and negatives in each package manager and I found rPath's (Foresight) quite interesting. Is it possible to develop pacman to be able to just download the files that need to be updated when updating an app, instead of downloading the whole package all over again? Sorry to mention this if it's already possible/available/planned.

    That would actually be brilliant ... Downloading the whole OOo all over again because of a very minor update is a bit annoying

  • Possible to do this with case structure?

    Essentially I want the case structure to do: If case1 = run OR case2 = run, do this, else do case3++
    I'm using a string case structure right now, where for example, the inputs could be SWEEP_A or SWEEP_B but I want the case structure to use case SWEEPAorB. This is so I can have different names for the input string BUT run the same case (this is to avoid redundant code for what I'm doing).
    Thanks.

    For more complex logic use can use create a boolean array and convert it to a number.

  • Creating "robot" with Flash possible?

    Is it possible to do this with Flash projector(exe) files:
    -Capture screenshot of some area of the desktop fast.
    -Move mouse position anywhere on a screen fast.
    -Click mouse fast.
    -Execute other applications.
    -Open new flash "child" windows, maybe moving them
    -File system functions, like opening, editing and saving
    files possible?
    I'm doing some of this with Director MX now, which is very
    slow app, it crashes, leaks memory, etc. so bad app.
    With an xtra that can capture screen image, seems to be
    extremely slow +other xtras.
    And then calling "AutoIt" program to actually move or click
    the mouse because there's no other way, which is fine but dumb.
    In flash(or director) graphics or GUIs are very easy to
    handle, I have no idea how to do this using eg. c++, java or VB
    Theres not even such thing as graphics on C++. Ok maybe some
    opelgl, but seems too complicated comparing flash.
    Any ideas?

    The short answer. No.
    The long answer. Flash was never really built for the
    desktop. Macromedia, and now Adobe gives the ability to make
    projectors, but the type of desktop interaction you describe is WAY
    outside the security sandbox for a web app, which is the sandbox
    that flash apps fall into.
    An alternative, which allows you to use Flash to build, is to
    use AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime), which is now in its third beta
    form. AIR will give you a closer approximation to the types of
    interactions you describe, though it still cannot execute other
    applications, or take screenshots. You can, however build a
    full-screen application that is invisible, so that it looks like
    the desktop is your background. You should be able to figure out a
    way to move the mouse around.......and maybe even click it. You can
    definately open child windows, and move them, as well as have full
    capabilities with the file system - even native drag/drop.
    The short of it, look into AIR and you may be able to do much
    of your list, and perhaps the rest in future versions.

  • In-App purchases from App made with Flash?

    Hey everyone!
    So basicly I'm working on this game project and I've got a distributor in Germany who requests me to implement an in-App purchase within this game I've developed in Flash CS5.5.
    In the developer section at apple's website I can't get information about how to do this with a flash developed app.
    Does anyone have an idea? I would be deeply grateful.
    Thank you for your time!
    Best,
    Dan

    Damn, that is horrible news. But I was kind of suspecting that it would not be possible to do this through flash.
    I just need to make sure, are you 100% sure that it is not possible to do this with a flash developed app?
    I'm not sure if this is a propriate thing to ask in this thread but does the same thing go for connecting to "Game Center" from a flash developed app? Is that impossible as well?
    Best,
    Dan

  • Something like ajax with flash

    Hello All , I am a web developer and i need a little help with flash .
    i want to make a board which presents a number , a word etc . every user can change the word on the board and other users can see the change .
    in ajax , it can be easily done by http request to a server side page (I'm using PHP) and response , and an area of the page that refreshes every 1 second .
    but i want to do this with flash/PHP and i have no idea how to do so . of course , i am a newbie to flash :-)
    I'm using Flash Cs3
    thanks , any helps appreciated.

    Since you are new to Flash, what I'll recommend first is that you do not pursue learning to use Actionscript 1/2 but instead start off  with the latest version which is AS3.  CS3 supports using it.  You could pursue something similar using AS2, but to make you more current I'd recommend stepping up to AS3.
    Then what I would recommend in that you find a tutorial for working with Flash, PHP, and possibly mySQL.  You could probably use a text/xml data file instead, but the database may be the better choice.  Here is a link to a tutorial that shows how to use Flash,PHP, and mySQL.... http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play?id=20  With your background, you should be able to adapt it to what you want to do.
    In its most basic format, the process is one of PHP playing the middle man between Flash and the data source.
