IWeb not looking good on Internet Explorer

Hi,
My site, www.bargelachouette.com has sat well on mac and in Windows IE for a couple of years, except for a small glitch on IE which I was prepared to accept. A few days ago I upgraded to IE8 on the Windows virtual machine of Parallels. The site is totally unacceptable in IE now, with illegible text covering photos which should not be there (The reflection at the bottom of the photo in the<white> <welcome> template I use is now the whole photo replicated below the original photo . Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I should do to rectify it....please.
Cheers,
Bob

Don't know Bob, but it looks like IE bit you.
I see what you're talking about.
I view it in Firefox and it looks fine.
Not sure what you might be able to do, but hopefully someone will have a thought.
The Barge look really neat.
Good luck.
You might try turning off the reflections.
Looks like that where the problem areas are.
Look like IE is not displaying it as a reflection, but a second picture.

  • IWeb Not Rendered Properly by Internet Explorer

    I can't believe that a this product doesn't produce pages that can be rendered by Internet Explorer!
    What rocket scientist at Apple thought that people would stop using IE or that people using iWeb would re-code all of the "features" of iWeb, that is the automatic stuff that makes it useful the first place?
    So, does iWeb 09 solve this huge mistake?

    It's Internet Explorer that's the problem. It does not adhere to the accepted web standards that are currently in place and followed closely by iWeb. You'll have to dumb down iWeb in order to get IE to render it correctly. Search for posts by Roddy with the topic Internet Explorer. He has many posts with tips on what to do to get iWeb sites more compatible with IE. One of the many is in this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1837981&tstart=0.
    This Google search shows many sites discussing Internet Explorer's failure to follow web standards.

  • My website looks different in internet explorer.

    Greetings and thanks in advance for great service that we provide
    I created a website in iweb www.webworldpr.com in Firefox looks good in Internet Explorer looks different. I can do. I would like to know is web site maestro can solve this problem.

    The iWeb for Musicians website is optimized with Web SIte Maestro and appears to work OK in IE 7 & 8. If I look at it using Safari User Agent the background image drops out etc.
    The latest version of WebCrusher has this....
    "iWeb websites are known for their incompatibility with Internet Explorer. We tested hundreds of iWeb sites and came up with a step by step guide to making your iWeb site work with Internet Explorerand built this functionality into WebCrusher."
    I do have WebCrusher but I haven't tested this feature as I don't have a PC running WIndows anymore.
    The only way I can think that I could help you out here is if you send me a copy of a Domain file or the folder of published files and I'll run it through the app to see if it fixes your problem before you have to think about buying it.

  • Why Templates text looks uggly in Internet Explorer ?

    Hi folks,
    I´m doing a kind of a job that will make use of the iWeb templates. It will be easier for the task.
    The problem is that most of the audience will navigate to the site by IE (as almost 80% of the planet does, unfortunetly ... lol). Right now I´m doing a test in front of a PC using XP and IE6. The text of the site looks very, very uggly.
    As I´m a mac user for a long time and work with good computers (1 Mac Pro and 1 MacBook Pro) I guess I´m used to "good image".
    On iWeb templates many different fonts are used, probably fonts that are not web safe as I have read through this forum, right ?
    The resolution of the monitor that I´m doing this test is not too bad (1024 x 768), so it should looks ok, right ?
    Checking the folders contents of the site when it is "saved to a folder" before changing text of the pages, I could noticed that most of the contents (paragraphs and texts) are .png files. Images ! Is it a way and the only way to make texts and paragraphs look nice in Internet Explorer ?
    By the way, is it a safe font size for IE or for general internet ?
    Thanks in advance ....

    The rule in your CSS that's causing the squishing is this one:
    .right_side_text {
        letter-spacing: 0;    line-height: 5px;
        margin: auto;
        padding: 0 0 0 20px;
    I don't think that you need margin: auto
    It's easy to test it in Firefox using the Firebug plugin.  You can edit the CSS "live."  However, it's not so easy to test it in IE so I'm not sure what will happen there if you edit it.

  • Problems with page not showing up in Internet Explorer

    I uploaded my page. All was fine. Looked good in all
    browsers.
    home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index.htm
    Now all of a sudden my index.htm page (also have default.htm
    page) shows up as a black screen only no pictures. No words.
    All of the sub pages show up fine if you add that to the
    address. Just the Index. is not showing up in Internet Explorer.
    Looks good in Firefox, Netscape and Safari.
    example home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index3.htm
    Anybody have any suggestions?
    J Whedbee

    I'm seeing the entry page at:
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/
    with no problems.
    I'm also seeing
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index.htm
    with no
    problems... pics, black background.
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/default.htm
    is just the same as
    index.htm
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/Index.htm
    (note the capital "I" )
    can't be seen .... no such file.
    Not sure why you would have an index.htm and a default.htm
    both really
    aren't needed.
    Have you tried clearing your browser cache?

  • Website template created in PS not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

    Hi there
    I was wondering if anyone could help me with creating templates in photoshop.
    I have cut up my site, centred the table it produces in Dreamweaver and added a background and made the banners rotate but the site does not load correctly in Internet Explorer (even before I did all this stuff). The cells are not correctly aligned.
    I have also tired validating the code but it says it is not valid HTML.
    Has anyone else had this problem?
    My website can be viewed at: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4966582/intranet/index.html
    Thanks in advance

    Photoshop is for images only.  Don't attempt to use the exported code on real web sites.  It won't work in the wild.  Why?  Because the code isn't good & the tables are too rigid to hold anything other than the image slices.  When you attempt to edit this layout in DW or any HTML editor, the whole thing falls apart and produces unsightly gaps between slices.
    The reason it doesn't look right in IE is because the code lacks a valid document type declaration on the first line.  This causes IE to render the page in Quirks Mode.
    The export HTML feature in Photoshop is really only for quick comps to show a client before you begin building the actual web site with HTML and CSS code.
    Although written for Fireworks, the 3-part tutorial below describes the procedure for bringing your design comp into a CSS Layout in DW.  If you get stuck on anything, feel free to post specific questions in the DW general discussion forum.

  • Gradient filled background is not showing up in Internet Explorer on a PC.

    My gradient filled background is not showing up in Internet Explorer on a PC.
    I'm working on a MAC, so I don't know of anyway to preview a new MUSE Site in I.E. since it's no longer supported on a Mac.
    When the Home Page is viewed, my blue sky gradient background shows up as a white box?? I need a fix for this please.
    Here is my url:  www.ThanksSanta.org

    Hello,
    We might have to look into your .muse file to have a better look into the issue.
    I tried it on a sample file but it worked fine for me.
    Could you please e-mail your .muse file on [email protected] You can use Adobe SendNow service (https://sendnow.acrobat.com/) to send your file in case it is larger than 20MB.
    Please do not forget to mention the link to this forum in your e-mail.

  • Albums not showing up in Internet Explorer?

    I have created and published my website through iWeb. It displays well in a few browsers but there are issues in IE. In IE you cannot access the albums. It doesn't show they are active when the mouse goes over them and do not even function in IE. Also, in IE images that I have placed reflections on display a duplicate image. Also, there are some minor text overlapping issues...Can anyone help?

    IE is not able to process most of iWeb's features like reflections, etc. Roddy has published things you can do to make an iWeb site more compatible with IE here: How to get your iWeb Site to load in Internet Explorer.

  • Adobe products are not recognized in my Internet Explorer 10 on my Win 7 64B professional

    Adobe products are not recognized with my Internet Explorer. I cannot open PDF documents on websites and I cannot play MSN games since Flash Player is not found. I have tried manage add-ons and enable status without success. Can anyone supply detailed information on how to fix this problem?
    C-adobe

    Are you running IE10 in 64-bit mode?  The Adobe Reader plugin is 32-bit, and can only run on a 32-bit browser.
    Regarding Flash Player, do you have ActiveX Filtering enabled?  Disable it.

  • Search hover panel not showing up in Internet Explorer with custom master page

    The hover panel is not showing up in internet explorer.  I am using a custom master page and it works no problem in the other browsers.  When I fire up the debugger there is an error message when i hover over a search result item:
    I tried debugging the JavaScript but i am not sure what is going on with it.
    Am I missing reference or something done like that?  It has to be something simple because I have been scratching my head for a while on this.
    Any ideas?

    Have you tried rendering the site in IE Compatability Mode?  Compatability Mode solves a lot of problems in this area because older versions of IE had a unique interpretation of HTML code.

    I trust that answers your question...

  • Navigation Drop Down Menu Does Not Appear Correctly with Internet Explorer.

    Website was designed with Dreamweaver CS5 on a Mac. The navigation drop down menu does not appear correctly with Internet Explorer. When you mouse over a navigation option that has a drop-down menu, the drop-down portion appears on top of the first level. Hope someone can help me out.Thanks!

    Hi,
    and you should then iron out this minor inaccuracy, which I found in your source code, for example here:
    <div align="center"><a class="MenuBarItemSubmenu" href="hays.html">HAYS</a>
            <ul>
              <li><a href="hayswalkingtour.html">Walking Tour</a> </li>
              <li><a href="forthays.html">Fort Hays</a></li>
            </ul>
    All your "first" entries have to show a '#", like this:
          <div align="center"><a class="MenuBarItemSubmenu" href="#">HAYS</a>
            <ul>
              <li><a href="hayswalkingtour.html">Walking Tour</a> </li>
              <li><a href="forthays.html">Fort Hays</a></li>
            </ul>
          </div>
    after that you can link to the individual subgroups. See here e.g. (screenshots from my German DW):

  • IWeb font not working on PC Internet Explorer

    Hey Guys,
    I have recently put up a quickie iWeb site for a short film I wrote and directed at www.greatpretendersmovie.com and have been sending friends, family and most importantly, interested film festivals to that website to take alook. But while visiting a friend and showing them the site I found out - to my horror- that my nice American Typewriter font on the main homepage, which looks fine on any Mac, is showing up as some kind of generic lo res Courier looking font on a PC running Internet explorer. The odd thing is I use this font on every page - and on some (the Cast page, for instance) it looks the way it should, and on some (The Trailer & Clips page) - it has the same blocky primitive appearance. anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Jeremy
    (oh, and if you happen to take a look, let me know what you think of the movie!)
    PowerMac Dual 2.3 ghz, MacBook Pro Intel Core duo 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to the discussions, Jeremy.
    Since you used American Typewriter and it's rendering on your pages as text instead of a graphic, this means that the target browser will use American Typewriter if available. If not, it falls back to Courier. You'd probably see the same thing if you viewed on a Mac that doesn't have American Typewriter either.
    You'd have to force your text on these pages to render as a graphic in order to have a more unified look, but all those images will make your site load a little slower.
