Java file download - form feed

Previously using Windows 2000 with Java 1.3.0. Able to download text files from a customer site direct into Excel via a custom application. The first two characters in the file were Carriage Return and Line Feed. Have now upgraded the workstation to XP and Java 1.5.0.6. The first character in the download from the same source is a Form Feed which Excel does not accept. Tried upgrading to Java 1.5.0.10 - now the custom application will not open Excel. Can download the file into the default browser but the first character is still a Form Feed.
Is this a bug in Java 1.5.0.x or is there a configuration change I need to make to get Java to substitute a CR / LF for the FF????????

This sounds like an application-level problem.
I've never heard of a JVM-level adjustment to automagically turn all formfeeds into line endings.
Contact the developer of the application.

WebUtil tries to download the jacob.dll to the client. The error message you get is most likely caused by teh following section in teh webutil.cfg file
install.syslib.location=/webutil

If you have all these files available on the PC, then most likely the problem can be found in the virtual path setting for this directory

Java WebDynpro's and IE security settings for file download

We have a EP 7.0 SP13 environment on which we have deployed a number of own developed java webdynpro's. In some of these webdynpro's we provide the file download functionality. The portal and webdynpro's are used by both internal personnel and external customers.
On the other hand the default Internet security settings for Internet Explorer, disable "Automatic prompting for file downloads".
When a user, with these default security settings active, tries to use our webdynpro's file download functionality, the screen seems to refreshes but no file download starts. When (s)he retries, the session runs for some minutes and gives following error message:
"com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.session.LockException: Thread SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_20 failed to acquire exclusive lock on client session ClientSession".
This behavior is explained in SAPNote 1234847. Webdynpro provides a single-thread module, meaning a user session is blocked for the during of the request. And because the previous file download isn't yet completed the new try can't start.
Issue now, although the users IE settings allow file downloads and don't block pop up's, he can't download the file and even isn't made aware of the cause of the failure.
How can we avoid this issue, without having to communicate the
application requires specific browser settings?

I assume that you are referring to a JavaScript file.
Java and JavaScript are different languages.
To avoid confusion, see:

If the server sends the file as text/plain then Firefox will open the file in a tab if you left click and not offer to download/save the file.
In that case you need to save the file via the right-click context menu or the File menu.
You will have to right-click the link and use "Save Link As" to save such a file directly instead of left-clicking the link.

Where do i find form and action java files

Inside struct.config file I find that form and action files are placed under"com.thortech.xl.webclient.actions.tcAddCommentForm" , but when I search for the tcAddCommentForm, I coundn't find the file. The Java importer is introduced in 9i.
However, most java functionality is added to Forms in the client, not the server. In 6i you can add Java pluggable components to your forms. You need to make a Java Pluggable Component to do this. Stand-alone Java beans can only be called from Forms 9i on using the fbean package.
So it depends on what you want to do with the java whether it is possible to use it in 6i.

Data in .jsp or HTML form fields, to a JAVA File and DB

I am new to the JAX-RS, I have a form where I fill in some details, There is a submit button towards the bottom of that form, when I click submit, it needs to do two actions:
1) Pass the data in different fields through different variables to into a JAVA file. I am not sure on how to call a JAVA file or program's method from either .HTML or .JSP
2) Extract the data from the fields and populate a DB through JDBC Connection

i meant : with transaction code DSWP or SOLUTION_MANAGER, choose the solution, "Change Management" tab, "Maintenance Optimizer" tab, "create new maintenance transaction" button.
In the step 2 (select files) i can choose "Calculate download files automatically" by the button "find download files" or i can choose "Fill Download Basket manually" by the button "select files for SAP Solution Manager 4.0".
After choosing the target stack version, i can only download .SAR and .CAR files.
How can i download .SCA files automatically? Is it possible actually?

Issue with File Download(messageDownload) on Search Page.

I created a custom OAF search page which fetches values from one table. The document in getting stored in my custom table in a BLOB colums and NOT in FND_LOBS.
The table has 3 collumns along with others:
1st is primary key (Record_Seq) ==> number data type
2nd to store actual file name (File1Name) ==> varcahar2 data type
3rd to store the actual uploaded data (File1Data) ==> BLOB data type
The reason for having the “File1Name” is so that I can display the original file name of the document that was uploaded, instead of just the “view” in the search page results .
On the File1Data BLOB and created a messageDownload for that under query results table with following details:
ID : File1Data
ItemStyle : messageDownload
FileMIME Type : pdf
Datatype : BLOB
View Instance : LacEmpExposureVO1
view Attribute : File1Name
File View Attribute : File1Data
When I click on the "File1Name" data hyperlink, it is opening only the first document corresponding to the first record in the search page results.
For example, If my search page returns 10 rows then when I click on the file1name on any row, It is open the first row file name only.
I have a primary key column(RECORD_SEQ) in the Table / EO / VO which is displayed in the search page results.
Also one weird thing is happening:
If I try to do this more than 2 times then it is opening the update page with the first record from the search page results…
I tried to print the context and it is nul the first time, But the second time then context is changing to "update". Dont know how this is happening????
Any advice is greatly appreciated as it is very crucial for me to get this resolved ASAP. I have looked at several forums and did a lot of things as advised in the forums . But nothing seems to work for me.

I'm trying to write a download pgm using servlet and JSP. The actual problem is, when i'm trying to download a file, the output stream writes all the comtent of the file on the browser itself even if it's a .exe file instead of opening a "Save as" dialog box
Can you guru's suggest me a best way to overcome this problem!

When I click on this link I get the download dialog box. If I open it I get the following open up in notepad(the files I am trying to give download links are .txt files)
Below is what is displayed in notepad ALL on 1 line:

I know this code is probably not a good way of doing what I need but I got it to work fine until the change.
I am sure there is an easier way to code the download link without resubmitting the page.

Well all was fine with this jsp until I moved it to ApacheJServ. Now the problem has resurfaced(although it is a little different now)

The problem I am having now is that when I click on one of the links and download the file and then open it, I get the contents of the file plus concatenated to the end of it is the first few HTML lines of the actual jsp that I downloaded the file from. Before I was just getting the first few lines of html from the jsp, not the actual contents of the downloaded file.
